Finally ready for this MAFS Australia Recap! It looks like Michael is going to be a pain in the ass and cause trouble again. Shocker! The homestays last week didn’t really go that well for anyone. Today didn’t go that well for me as I drank too much wine last night and didn’t eat anything all day yesterday. This resulted in a day full of panic attacks and random anxiety. Must do better.

Seb and Lizzie are the first to arrive and decide to hide from everyone. These too look like they are doing great. This makes me wonder if I have the names wrong. The horrible pair of Stacey and Michael show up next. Michael is too big for his britches. I mean literally. He’s leaving nothing to the imagination. And it’s not impressive. Everyone seems uncharacteristically happy. Except for Aleks who it seems is done with Ivan after he treated her like his little assistant last week. Ivan doesn’t see this coming. Josh arrives solo. If I recall correctly, Josh and Cathy had a really bad week. Steve and Mishel bring everyone teddy bears. Ivan is eating his feelings in the form of all snacks lying about. He looks like his is going to burst into tears.
Michael Continues To Be A Douchebag
Why is Michael always up in everyone’s business. He’s literally doing a confession on Ivan and Aleks sex life as if he was in the bed with them. Things are very comfortable at dinner when Aleks starts telling Lizzie that she’s just not that into Ivan. Then asshole Michael announces that Aleks said she slept with Ivan. Aleks denies it. So, perhaps bad sex or no sparks was the problem. Then Josh chimes in that he was told by both of them that they hooked up. Ivan says nothing and looks like he wants to crawl under the dinner table and die. Michael keeps pushing the subject. So Aleks walks out and Ivan goes trailing after her.

Now Cathy is sobbing over Josh. He’s not worth it. Mishel and Steve had a touching moment. Is there still hope there? Now Michael is saying that Aleks is dating another guy. Ivan knows about it, but he is still protecting Aleks. It’s hysterical, that Michael, the cheater is the one going hard on Aleks the cheater as if he has some sort of moral high ground. Despite multiple people being aware of Aleks behavior, she is still going to deny, deny, deny. Ivan is practically despondent. He refused to confirm or deny if he’s slept with Aleks. Josh says that Ivan told him that he and Aleks have been “rooting like rabbits for weeks.” Ivan still denies asking the guys to bring it up an defend him. Aleks publicly calls out Ivan for lying and says she is leaving. Aleks clearly knew she would be in the spotlight at dinner. So why did she wear that tacky Forever 21 pink dress made for someone in high school?
Ivan swears he did not set her up to be called out. Josh and Michael are not particularly trusted sources.
The Commitment Ceremony
Apparently, we are almost at the end of the season. I don’t really think any of them have a chance. Ivan and Aleks decided to just leave the experiment before the commitment ceremony. Instead, Steve and Mishel are up first. Steve says that Mishel is the most beautiful person inside and out. How did we get here? Micheal tells her that he loves her! I believe that everyone stays tonight except for Ivan and Aleks. Stacey is all ready to move in with the asshole. Is she kidding? She treated him like shit last week. Jon has never seemed into Connie. I love Connie. Jon? Not so much. At least he says he doesn’t want to give her false hope. Sigh. Jon wrote leave. That gives them another week though I think. He says he wanted her to write stay. He’s such a manipulator. Mishel calls Jon out. Up next, Lizzie and Seb are happy together. Despite his insults toward Lizzie. Seb apparently just found out about the eating disorder they are not addressing on camera.
The Toy Issue…
KC and Drew talk about this whole furry situation. It’s weird. If we don’t hear a reasonable explanation for this, she needs to run. Or he heeds to read 1 Cortintians 13:11. Something needs to change here. Drew thinks KC is materialistic. KC thinks he is childish. They should end it. Drew makes KC feel unlovable. She moves to the far end of the couch so he can’t touch her. They both choose to stay. Josh and Cathy are not speaking at the moment. They are our last couple. Josh likes to drag Cathy in public. They both vote to leave. I think that is for the best. Josh is not supportive of his wife in public.
These were such crazy episodes, I loved every minute!
Steve and Mishel: wow! I feel like I missed something, like a whole episode. I was happy to see Steve actually be kind and loving towards Mishel. Maybe there’s hope?
Connie & Jon: I hate Jon. What a self-centered ass. Connie deserves a do-over. Jon just thinks he’s way more desirable than he actually is.
Aleks & Ivan: this was so interesting and yet so confusing. First off, the cheap pink dress? Trash. I believe Ivan tried to get Josh and Michael to talk for him and I believe Aleks was hooking up. I think they slept together, it sucked and she was done. I need Ivan to go to Sonja Morgan’s plastic surgeon and get himself a normal sized nose and a chin. Aleks needs a chin too, maybe they could get a deal.
KC & Drew: boring, they can leave.
Michael & Stacey: seems like these two will make it, he’s her lobster. Ick.
Lizzie & Seb: these two need a whole episode dedicated to them only, I feel like I need to see more of them.
Cathy & Josh: glad they left.
I can’t wait for next week’s hometown visits!
Carhy&Josh were my favorite but She made the right
decision to leave he was not supportive of her evenwhen she was sick she couldn’t even breathe & he wanted her to go away he’s a mommas boy
If he really wanted to make it with Cathy he would’ve tried to work things out with ber i stead of in fro t of his mother
@Barbara jo ee – Josh’s momma did not approve of Cathy therefore the relationship was doomed.
Of course being a momma’s boy he will never have a relationship with a grown woman – I hope he has a reality check before it’s to late.
Cathy understood her own self worth and physical attraction only gets you so far with a mommas boy.
Thanks TT for recapping this show. U got me into it ! Had to google the Biblical quote whilst hanging my Catholic head in shame but u were spot on on your observations.
Keep safe and well. (2 early for wine in Wales but got some raspberry vodka for later to attempt to watch below deck Med )
I’m not sure there is enough vodka in Wales to get you through Below Deck Med without shooting your TV.
@Evangeline – Are you in New South Wales or Cymru?
Ugh- so frustrating! First time I was truly pissed at the 3 “counselors”! No help at all to the couples- where are the communication techniques??? Any help at all. No sure at this point any couples will make it long term.
These “experts” are even more useless than the “experts” in the US which I didn’t think was even possible. They just let these people run amuck with no guidance whatsoever. A few platitudes at the commitment ceremony don’t count.
I’m furious that Josh wasn’t held accountable for his horrible treatment of Cathy. Cathy tried to talk about it but Josh kept interrupting and talking over her. And the experts were just like oh well. So he got away with making himself seem like the victim for anything Cathy did but he caused it all! He had me fooled in the beginning too. A true narcissist. Cathy’s lucky she’s out before she uprooted her life any more than she did.
Michael continues in his quest to be the biggest asshole on this show ever. Is that what he thinks the contest is about that he’s always saying he’s on top? The whole thing with Aleks that Michael stirred up, I hardly believe a word that comes out of his mouth. And Josh as a cohort, not exactly someone else I trust. Michael could easily have roped Josh into some scheme. I never liked Aleks. I lost respect for Ivan during the home visit. So tempest in a teapot as far as I’m concerned.
Why do these women have to dress like hookers? The pink dress, an abomination. She was tugging at it constantly. That’s a sign of something that doesn’t fit, Aleks. Cathy’s spokesmodel dress, I know she wanted to look extra hot to say to Josh you are never tapping this again pal, but she couldn’t even sit down in it. These are attractive women. They could be attractive but have some class.
@Lucinda Meyer – Thank You for the reminder I forgot this show had “Alleged Experts”
I have a love/hate relationship with Micheal. I want to hear what he says about other couples but then can’t believe what I hear him saying about the other couples. He is playing the game show of interfering with their marriages so he and Stacey win the experiment. He wants them to be the only couple standing at the end.
I have a soft spot for Steve. I struggle with liking Mishel. She may be the nicest woman ever but I just can’t stand her.
Connie deserves more! I hope they bring her back next year like they did Lizzie. Thank goodness I never have to spell “Jonethen” with e’s again!!!
Josh, what a turd. They were my favorite couple at the beginning of the show.
OMG!! Do we have a pack of weasels telling whoppers?
Alek’s – WTF!! – Did you watch Molly Ringwald in 16 Candles!!!
Thank you for recapping!! I love all the comments. What a rollercoaster. I thought Ivan was going to be to stuck up for Aleks. Then she dumps him. Connie was was too needy and insecure at first and then Jon became a jerk!!! Mishel and Steve…whoa! Mikey, what a cad.
The issue to me is the so-called experts. They really need to dive into to these folks better. Oh wait, then where would be the drama. lol
Sorry for late reply. Time difference. I’m from Cymru Tuatha, bore da !!
U r right TT had to pause below deck med and start on tequila! May as well, still on lockdown here. Hope u r safe and well xx
bore da Evangeline. You are going to have to explain your moniker ” Evangeline”
Is that your given name, or do you like poetry or are you named after the French song Evangeline?
