90 Day Fiance Recap: She’s A Wolf

July 5, 2020 by tamaratattles 46 Comments

90 Day Fiance RecapIt’s time for another 90 Day Fiance Recap, tonight it’s time for the Happily Ever After Version. That is the silliest thing ever for call this franchise because no one seems to be living happily ever after. This is my least favorite of all the 90 Days flavors, but it is still very addictive and I love Kalani and Asuelu. But I can’t wait until tomorrow night when we get 90 Days The Other Way! That’s my favorite!

Michael & Angela

We begin tonight’s two hour episode with Michael getting all dressed up and wearing his gold chain that says, Angela. Surely this is true love, right? 🙂 In confessional Michael says he likes Angela’s smile and her boobs. I bet he has seem her boobs more than her smile. Does Angela ever smile? The current plan, which I had forgotten, is for Angela to fly back to Nigeria and get married. Then, they can apply for a spousal visa for Michael. This has to be her third or fourth trip to Nigeria. How is she paying for all of this and feeding that entire litter of children and grandkids, and her elderly mama? Perhaps the show is paying for the trips now. Michael tells his aunt that he and Angela have a lot of “misunderstandings.”

Auntie is concerned about Micheal being able to have kids with Angela. Gee, you think? She wants Michael to find another wife to have babies with. When Michael says that Angela won’t agree to that, Auntie says that he needs to just marry a Nigerian woman then. Speaking of relatives, back in Hazelhurst, we meet Angela’s sister. She agrees to go to Nigeria to be her witness. Clearly, production is paying for these trips. Angela is taking some sort of Burger King crown for Micheal. Really? She tries on her dress to show her mom and grandkids. Later, Angela goes to get her hoohah checked for cancer.

Colt & Larissa & Jess

Why are these people still on muh teevee? Sigh. No one cares about Colt telling his mommy he has a new girlfriend. And that he is going to go to Brazil with Jess. Mommy is not happy about Jess being from Brazil. This is just stupid. And not fun stupid like the rest of them. Mommy is worried that Colt will get married on the trip to Brazil. It would not surprise me. OMG! Colt’s mom wants to go to Brazil with him.

Click Here For All The 90 Day Fiance Recaps!

Since Larissa doesn’t have a man, her storyline is going to be meddling in Colt’s relationship. So she starts with calling Jess. She wants to warn Jess that Colt starts out nice and gets mean. She tells Jess that Colt will put her US residency in jeopardy. Larissa asks Jess if Colt sometimes texts and won’t let her see the phone. She says Colt does do that. She says Colt’s mom is a demon. Eventually, Jess just hangs up o Larissa. It seems Larissa is was right. Colt has Vanessa over to dinner with mommy. He has slept with her in the past. He’s attracted to her but he doesn’t think she is interested. Vanessa says they are best friends. When Vanessa says not to give Jess any money. Colt admits that he “helped pay for her ticket to Brazil.” He has also given her another $1,000. SIGH.

Kalani & Asuelu

Asuelu is still pouting about not being able to go to Samoa. Instead, they are taking the boys on a road trip to California. Apparently, at least one of the boys is sick and Asuelu don’t understand why they are traveling with sick babies. He does have a point. Asuelu says that American women have it easy. Again, he has a point. There are no washing machines or diswashers or TVs to babysit the kids in Samoa. They argue all the way to California. Kalani’s mom is in the car and she’s pissed a Asuelu. Poor, Asuelu.

Click Here For All The 90 Day Fiance Recaps!

When they get to the AirBnB, Asuelu goes outside to get away from all the henpecking. He is so sad. All Kalani keeps saying is that it is the start of Oliver’s Birthday weekend. Oliver doesn’t have any idea about any of that. Oliver can’t even talk. She needs to talk to the manchild she married. Oh, she stupidly though America would make a man out of Asuelu. She should understand Samoan culture. Her father is from Samoa. Kalani goes in the house and complains to her mother. Asuelu takes his stuff and leaves. On foot. Asuelu gives production his microphone and gets on a commuter bus. Does he think that will get him back to Utah?

90 Day Fiance RecapKarine & Paul

Karine is afraid to drink tap water. Paul wants to show Karine his car. I imagine it has been sitting at his parents house for years. Paul’s mom is not home and she had taken his housekeys away from him. Good for her. The trunk is full of crap and old food. It’s disgusting. There is also a giant rusty dent in the back left quarter panel that looks like the back tail light will also be effected. Karine says she and her baby are not getting in that car. I agree. But she doesn’t have a choice. She is already wanting to go home to Brazil and it is day one.

90 Day Fiance RecapElizabeth & Andrei

These two are off to Moldova with the baby for wedding number two. After 15 hours on a plane they finally land in Moldova. I may have to check this place out as a retirement spot. Hopefully whenever that time comes I’ll be allowed to travel through Europe, but at this rate who knows? I don’t think anything is going to be done to help us get the coronavirus under control until November, when hopefully the world can start getting back to normal. If we get four more years of Trump, I’m not sure what countries will allow Americans inside their borders.

Click Here For All The 90 Day Fiance Recaps!

After arriving at Andrei’s parents house they all have dinner with his family. It is there that Elizabeth learns that since she isn’t Orthodox, she must be baptized before the baby can be baptized. She’s pissed that Andrei didn’t tell her this before. While Elizabeth goes to put the baby to bed. Andrei tells his family that he basically doesn’t get along with her family. Or more to the point, they don’t like him. So there are surprises for everyone!

Next week: Angela arrives in Nigeria, Larissa learns her fate after an immigration meeting, Asuelu is still missing, Elizabeth learns how Moldavian wives cook and clean and care for their families, and we catch back up with Tania and Syngin, Paul shows Karine a home that is actually worse than where she lived in Brazil, Colt and his mother arrive in Brazil Jess hates Debbie and Debbie falls ill.

I’m not an Elizabeth fan AT ALL, but I felt bad it seems like Andrei left out a lot of info on what he expected out of her on this trip. I think being intitiated/baptized into a religion is serious business and she should have been consulted, not put on the spot like that. I also found it annoying Andrei apparently selected godparents, and asked them to be godparents, without talking to her first. I can’t stand the Colt/Jess/Larissa saga. Colt makes me gag. I cannot figure out how this many women have agreed to get naked with him. Just, why????

All men who are not American wussies seem like chauvinists. In all countries, since time began there were roles for men and roles for women. Not to say women can’t be President or CEOs or whatever, but there are certain inherent roles that is why we have two genders.

I am a strong independent woman who has no problem taking care of myself. However, something about Andrei turns me on. Maybe I am just ready for someone to come into my life and take over. I always say I want a man stronger than me. Haven’t met any that checks the box as yet.

I think he likes to wind her up a bit and loves to get her family in a tizzy. I kinda enjoy that ??Their daughter lights up when she sees Andrei. I have not been a fan at times, but I find him entertaining after watching more. Their quarantined epi was interesting. I saw them from a different perspective, and the dynamic between them gave me a different lens as I watch this season.

Andrei confuses me. He takes on the role of SAHP, which is totally fine and a very vital part of the family, but is “traditionally” often seen as a female role (it’s shouldn’t be, but it is). But then he also wants to be “I’m the man, I’m the head of the family, I talk, you listen.” Then he wants to constantly drain funds from Elizabeth’s dad and not even ask for it himself. It’s sort of not cohesive. I’m not even making any judgements on his personality or what not, I just think it doesn’t make sense a bit. I think he’s a very handsome guy, don’t get me wrong, I would just get emotional whiplash if I was with him. It’s like Aseulu saying he won’t take on “women’s work,” but then what he does spend time on is volleyball, hours of gaming and a part time job. If he has so much spare time for recreation, WHY doesn’t he get a second or even third part time job if he cant find a full time one and take on this “breadwinner, head of the family” role he seems to think is reserved for men. He whines about Kalani’s dad giving him sh*t, but if Asuelu was working more, he could defend himself by saying how many hours he works. Instead he mumbles about wanting his father-in-law to leave him alone while he hustles off to a four hour session of online gaming. I’d be pissed and frustrated if I was Kalani’s dad, too, frankly.

One of the biggest mistakes a woman can make is to think that children will mature a man. Asuelu is used to having his demands met and passing things off. One happiness I have in my life is that my husband’s mom didn’t allow idleness. You work, go to school, have chores and contribute all the time.

The whole Colt situation skeeves me out. A million years ago in college I dated a guy BRIEFLY who was very handsome, aged 30 and still lived with his mom, even though she was in perfect health and he had a job that could easily afford him his own place (and she had a full time job, too). She acted like his wife, too, like Debbie does with Colt – joint banks accounts, cooking all his meals, packing him lunches for work, buying his clothes. She’d go queasy and agitated if she saw us holding hands, like she was a jealous spouse. It was extremely weird and dysfunctional. I broke things off after a few months. I know it’s not all Debbie, Colt should have moved out and set normal boundaries a long time ago. It’s just not a healthy set up for either of them. Not that I’m a fan of Colt. I’m not. Just an observation.

Will forever love Karine and Paul. I do wish in America families could live together and support each other, like Karine was saying. Our “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality is very cold. I think families should stick together no matter what. Paul may not have made the best choices for his life but now there is an innocent baby involved and I think Grandma could at least let them live with her.

I, respectfully, disagree. I have sons who were late bloomers (i.e. think failure to launch nightmares) but Paul seems very immature compared to his much younger wife. Mom cannot foster his immature behavior any more while there is a REAL child involved. He needs to figure out how he will support his family — not just now but after mom is gone. It’s tough love but I think necessary.

I also know that there are obvious cultural differences but that ended when you call your wife a lying bitch 1) in front of her 2) in front of her mom and most importantly 3) IN FRONT OF THE KIDS!!!!! I agree, I liked Asuelu up until this episode. Granted he’s like a man-child but I chalk that up to his home county and the environment he was raised, he isn’t familiar with the american way of life. But he was stupid about risking his children’s health and downright nasty. No excuses for that.

I’m not sure Asuelu’s issues are cultural differences. Kalani’s dad is Samoan and he seems reasonably smart and hard working. I think Asuelu has some um…cognitive disabilities. Also, he seems emotionally stunted.

I really can’t figure out how Kalani saw a reasonable future with Asuelu. Is it really just a matter of her getting pregnant and then deciding she was going to stick with him no matter what? Also, this is apropos of nothing, but Kalani’s skin is amazing and her hair is so shiny. I think this every time she’s on and wonder what she uses.

Kalani is a married-single mother. I know Asuelu was her “first” and is the father of her babies, but if he doesn’t grow up fast & acclimate himself to fatherhood, he might find himself either on a plane back to Samoa, or living in a trashy apartment that he can afford on a PT salary. And he keeps saying her parents moved in with them, but that is THEIR house!!!

Im actually kind of scared for Kalani and the kids at this point. Asuelo doesnt care about his kids not his wife and if he gets that angry about not getting his way they need to be scared. If thats is due to cognitive issues then they need to be even more scared.

Kalani needs to move on. Asuelo is selfish and insensitive. I don’t believe he cares anything about his kids. When Kalani was telling him that her son was running after him, he didn’t even look back to make sure the kid was safe. If he wants to be the man of the house then he needs to support his household. Same with Andrei. He’s the man but Elizabeth supports the family. That does not impress me at all and I would not go to another country to look for something like that. He may talk manly but he does not act like a man he acts like a bully.

I would like to see an episode or reunion or something where Michael and Usman meet. They are from the same country, but it seems like very different backgrounds. I would like to learn more about that. Of course there is the obvious and very important question: does Michael listen to Soujaboy? Beyond that, though, Usman mentioned frequently that he is from the Hausa tribe; I am going to guess Michael is from a different tribe – but I don’t think we have ever heard him mention it. I wonder if there is any tension between the tribes? Usman is obviously Muslim, and Michael appears to be Christian (basing that on a single mention of Jesus in the translation when his mother was talking on last nights episode). Babygirl Lisa had to take Usman’s mother a goat, but Angela had to take Michael’s mother a microwave. Michael’s female family members dress more western, Usman’s dress more traditional. I find that all fascinating and would love to learn more.

Proud US citizen with a Nigerian mother here! The reason that there are so many differences between Michael and Usman come from cultural influence. Northern Nigerian is Majority Muslim. Southern Nigeria is mostly Christian. Nigeria was a Commonwealth Country until the 1960’s. The southern part of the country developed to be very much like other formerly British colonies. The Hausa (Usman) and and Yoruba to the North are a product of Islamic and very exclusionary tribes that ruled the North. If it were not for the European colonization that created country borders with no consideration of cultural clash, the two regions would not be in the same country. Michael is igbo from Lagos (my mother is half igbo and half efik). Most igbo are raised devoutly Christian. Igbo are more likely to adhere to western traditions and beliefs. Most of the Igbo women I know under 50 went to college, and many have advanced degrees. Women rule the markets and run their holmes. A man is the “head” of the household but women are the neck and backbone. Large families are the norm. So is intergenerational living. No one person raises children alone. Most are raised with their cousins, in the way siblings are raised together here. Christian Nigerian men are far less likely to have multiple wives. In the igbo regions men are held to their expectations. I am actually ticked at the way 90 day tried to use the lawyer to imply Michael is some radical. Boko haram is a problem in the North, they are a group who pledged loyalty to Isis. For years now Christians that still live in the north have been under constant attack. From blowing up churches to opening fire in markets. They have killed more people than Isis 3 years in a row.Usman is a Muslim man from Sokoto and Kaduna. Sokoto is the unofficial Muslim capitol. Accommodations in Sokoto are nice. The have some great colleges The money that Nigeria has made in oil has not benefited the Northern regions as it has the South. Usman’s mother distrust of whites stems from. The history of whites in Nigeria. Also Soviet intelligence really worked hard at sowing the seeds of discontent in the North. During the cold war some students studied in the USSR really turning the North further away culturally. In the North many things are demonized that were regarded in the South. One really good example is the prevalence of vaccines. In the North people spread a horrible lie that vaccines will make you infertile. In the South almost all kids get their vaccines. The North has some educational resources for women, but it is not the norm.
In short, the very apparent differences are from many factors. Religious, political, and large economic gaps.
Quick note: Many may wonder why don’t Angela and Michael adopt? Most adoptions are from within family. Many people may not file with the court. Informal adoptions are common.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to provide context! As far as the necessity of a witness, I have suspicions about the registrar they spoke with. After a discussion with numerous family members, no one thinks this is accurate. You file paperwork for marriage 21 days prior. If everything passes your certificate is drawn up and the registrar can be a witness. Most likely the person they spoke with told them this in an attempt to make some cash by doing them a “favor”. Corruption is a problem everywhere and those with authority abuse it all the time. Marriage between Nigerians and westerners is not a new concept in Nigeria. It has been a phenomenon since colonial times. This is especially true in Lagos and Calabar. No one in my family, including those who work in government has heard of a witness stipulation for a marriage. If we are talking about a tribal ceremony where family of the bride is expected to be there to consent as a unit to the engagement and marriage. That is not a legal proceeding though. I am blessed to have been raised with the culture of My mother’s people. The paternal side of my family is practically the Mock UN. My cousins are all mixed. The spouses are from Brazil, China, Paraguay, and Mexico. This really fostered a love of linguistics and cultural anthropology family wide. I am enjoying the spinoffs, and watching them with my mom. Having some understanding of the cultures depicted makes the show enjoyable and infuriating.

Apologies, due to the length of Below Deck tonight, and my early dental appointment tomorrow. I must delay watching tonight’s The Other Way unitl Tuesday. You know, if I survive my trip out into THE WORLD. Where I shall stop and by wind and chicken broth at the world’s worst Kroger on the way back. Maybe.

Hope all goes well at the dentist and your anxiety levels are kept at a minimum.
