Bravo Fires Four Vanderpump Rules Cast Members For Racism Exclusive Details

June 9, 2020 by tamaratattles 161 Comments

I just opened my laptop for the day to discover that four cast members on Vanderpump Rules have been fired. Stassi, Kristen, Max and Brett have all been dropped by Bravo over racist behaviors in their past. The thing is though, Bravo and Evolution and the entire online community knew about all of these behaviors for years and took no action at the time. Lisa Vanderpump vouched for Brett and Max recently on the show.

Tamara Tattles Exclusive Sources can confirm the following:

All four Vanderpump Rules cast members were sent letters of termination this morning from Evolution Media, the production company. The letters fully release all from their respective contracts and hold them to no liability to any allegations.
Additionally, the rest of the cast will take mandatory sensitivity training and education on racial bias, prejudice and American History. Failure to complete such training will result in termination from the series.
Also, Vanderpump Rules casting going forward will be “more diverse.” Also, ALL Bravo shows increase the diversity of all behind the scenes crew especially the higher paying positions.
Earlier this week Stassi lost all of her partnerships, and was dropped from her talent agency and her public relations firm. Kirsten’s book agency has also dropped her.
So what do you think about this? It’s about time? Or is it a bit much? Does everyone deserve to be “cancelled” or are some offenses deserving of forgiveness?
As a commenter previously noted, I guess Stassi will be moving her wedding to the Olive Garden. Those huge houses are not going to pay for themselves.

They called the police and told them that she was the suspect they were looking for (because it was a black woman), when the police ignored them, they called the military. Stassi bragged about it, and her PI detective levels. Never apologized to Faith, and then Stassi has gone on to make more and more horrible and racist comments on her podcast. It is awful, and it is awful it took Bravo this long to do

You interrupted my viewing of Floyd’s funeral for this and I say HALLELUJAH! Sorry not sorry, but they had to be held accountable for their actions. Some offenses were worst than others but if Evolution, Bravo & NBCU really want to take a stand NOW IS THE TIME.

LVP & Tom Sandoval (a man of color) need to be chastised or made to make public apologies for excusing Max’s behavior. Now I guess I can put VPR back in rotation on my DVR.

    Next up Kathryn Dennis?

About time… Stassi and Kristen should have been fired in 2018 when they posted and accused Faith. The only downside I can see is there will probably be more footage of horrible Katie, Lala, and Jax. They should have scrapped the whole show…

I think this show has run it’s course. Racism is terrible and there should have been swift action back in 2018. It feels like they have squeezed every drop of entertainment out of this group. We’re grinding rind at this point.

Hopefully since we’re doing the cancel culture thing for everything, no one is off limits. Southern Charm and other Housewives shows. But people need to be held accountable on both sides of color as it’s gone both ways on social media. Candiace Dillard brought up Stassi on Twitter but she has said some nasty comments about anything everything regarding race. Bravos lame attempt to educate is too late and VPR is ruined. Nothing will help the show and others are soon to follow. So are we just canceling and not trying to educate at all for past mistakes? Not arguing with the outcome. I guess everyone should scrub their social media’s for anything and everything.

What does “trying to educate” look like? Do people have to be educated that calling the police on African Americans without cause is not justifiable? Do people have to be “educated” that stereotyping disallows groups of people to be seen as people and not as “them”?

I never heard of “cancel culture” until the ultra privileged first daughter mentioned it after her speech was cancelled by the Wichita college. If THAT is “cancel culture,” I am all for it! But this action by Bravo is way too late to mean anything real to me. If they really cared, Stassi and Kristen would have been fired in 2018. And I would not have fired Brett or Max for those remarks made years ago, and for which they have apologized. I think Bravo used this excuse to clean house. I’m sorry to see all 4 of them go from the show, while they keep Jax and Katie. UGH. Bravo sucks.

I am far from impressed. The behavior they were fired for wasn’t breaking news. Bravo & the various production companies had no qualms paying/filming them well aware of what they said & who they are. Andy only confronted perceived homophobic behavior, that’s as militant as he got. The racist privileged undertones have been ignored for years. The Bravo & Andy “we are the world” special was too little & much too late. You can say whatever you want but don’t clutch your pearls when there are consequences.

Wish they had sent jax packing too. He’s offended many people over the years. Stassi should have been cut after her podcast a couple years back, the guys should have gotten fired or given type of suspension and training, Kristen, suspension and training. Stassi is the worst of these 4. She even did. Nazi Instagram post a few years back. I get what Kristen did was wrong, but she hasn’t been a repeat offender and it was directed at one person, not a whole community like the rest of them. I am all about people growing and changing and learning from past mistakes. I think Kristen is the most likely to do that from this group. Stassi is going to play a victim in it all.

On another note, I like that the bravo lady tried to make Scheana look bad and give Stassi the hero edit. The worked out real well!

If everyone deserves to lose their job for being an asshole, then a lot of people will be out of work.

Did the 2 airhead chicks call out Faith with racial slurs? Or were they calling her out publicly for sleeping around? I don’t follow any of these characters on social media, so not sure of all the details.

Political correctness is contributing to some of the overall problems our country has. It has squelched real conversations that are just beginning. Conversations that need to happen, people need to be forced out of their comfort zone, feel uncomfortable. But everyone can’t be attacked for their comments. It’s an opportunity to educate others, learn from other people’s experiences.

We are at the precipice of a new era. It’s scary, but exciting at the same time. I’m praying for real change in our culture.

First off they said the tattoo of the criminal looked like faith’s. That’s why they did it. No love lost after faith slept with jax and hurt Brittney. Faith is milking her two minutes of fame and all of a sudden vr is racist.

Faith brought nothing to the show so she wasn’t on after sleeping with jax.

Yes, the show is not diverse. But a lot of shows are not diverse.
Sometimes the pandering that goes on during public outcry only makes things worse.
And no, i’m not racist so please do not attack me. I just never liked faith.

I don’t like max either. For the life of me I cannot see why anyone thinks he is good looking. He and Brett should be let go because they are boring.

I am SO SO SO tired of reading and hearing responses like this.

“If everyone deserves to be fired for being an asshole, then a lot of people will be out of work.” Yes, and they should be. Lara, I don’t know you, so this comment isn’t directed towards you, but I believe most of the people decrying consequences for problematic behavior by saying “we all have done and said shit” typically have histories they are ashamed of and wouldn’t want to be experience repercussions for themselves.

      Let me explain.

      1. Stassi wasn’t fired for calling the police on someone as an immature act of bullying. Stassi repeatedly harassed someone of color (through the instruments of both the police and the military police) who WE ALL KNOW to be specifically targeted by law enforcement and have a much higher likelihood of being assaulted or killed by the police. If you don’t know this, look it up. PLEASE. The consequences for recklessly calling the police on a black person are something white people are highly aware of and silent about, and yet often abuse for their benefit when they feel uncomfortable being around someone who is black (exhibit A: woman in Central Park).

      2. Stassi has a long, storied history of making wildly insensitive and inappropriate comments that have offended a variety of marginalized and already traumatized groups. For example, her attacks on the #metoo movement, comments suggesting women who were raped by Harvey Weinstein “must have wanted it,” are EXTREMELY TRIGGERING for women who have been raped and abused and have suffered in silence for fear of EXACTLY SUCH COMMENTS.

      3. Stassi made a comment about “Nazi chic,” glorifying Nazi culture, and wearing “SS” tags (initials commonly associated with the Nazi state secret police)– I know some will argue they are for her initials–but this choice was a horrible coincidence at best and intentioned to be deeply harmful at worst. I cannot explain to you the pain evoking the Nazis causes for those who have experienced the generational pain and trauma of family members losing lives and livelihoods because of the Holocaust. It is not being “politically correct” to not glorify Nazis and Nazi cultures. It is downright cruel and inhumane behavior to do it, if not blatantly supportive of white supremacist ideologies. This wasn’t a casual joke. It’s not funny. Unless you think genocide is a hilarious joke and we should make light of it, which is dangerous and destructive to our society as a whole.

      4. Stassi was on a podcast bemoaning the fact that black people have long been pointing out their lack of representation and other crimes against black people, using sentences like “why is it always about them?” and “I’m sick and tired of hearing about them” and “other [cultures] aren’t complaining.” Other cultures weren’t brought here in chains and treated as subhuman chattel for generations. Other cultures weren’t subjected to Jim Crow and segregation and pervasive and systematic racism–which means using something like the police to harass, control, imprison, and murder people because they are black. See point 1 to reference Stassi’s use of the police to do this very thing.

      5. a. Let’s say Stassi was ignorant, and these comments were all ignorant, immature, casual statements intending no harm. Here’s the problem. IT DID CAUSE HARM. IT DOES CAUSE HARM. If it hurt Faith, if it hurt black people, it doesn’t fucking matter what her “intentions” were. People of privilege have long been using “not my intention” to excuse, justify, or cover up racist behavior. We are not accepting this excuse anymore.
5.b. Stassi was confronted about these words and perspectives on the show by both Billie and Ariana. Because there wasn’t a black person to confront her, obviously. Her reaction was outrage that she was being called out, making herself the victim, and shutting down the conversation with anger. She provided no opportunity for this to be a learning experience. She offered no expressions of remorse, contrition, or regret. Her response, which is typical of those confronted with their own racism, was– IT’S NOT MY FAULT YOU PERCEIVED IT THAT WAY. I am so so so so sick of hearing this.
5.c. IF. IF. IF. Stassi was truly regretful and ashamed of her words and actions in the past, and using this movement to reflect on her own privilege and how she expressed it in the past, please explain to me why she left the podcast up? Why didn’t she delete it, or edit it out until last week? Why did she leave it up until all of her past behavior was recently exposed? Why did she bother commenting about Black Lives Matter at all, without referencing her own role in furthering the narrative that racism doesn’t exist and black people are just complaining?

      6. She was 29 years old. Not 9. It is not my job, or her friends’ job, or her boss’ job, or her viewers’ job, or the job of the people she hurt, to explain racism to a 29 year old. At that age, it’s fully on her.

      7. In any advanced society experiencing change and growth of any kind, consequences to poor behavior like this MUST exist. Leaving her on the show not only rewards her for problematic and dangerous behavior, it gives her a platform to use more of it, and causes pain for those who have to accept that they don’t matter enough to have an audience, or a media company, care enough about their pain to do something.

      8. I am a psychologist. My siblings and friends are in the healthcare profession, teachers, administrators, and beyond. WE GET PAID FUCKING NOTHING. AND YET, IF I MADE ANY OF THESE COMMENTS, I WOULD BE FIRED, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. Please explain to me, why someone who has such a huge platform and influence on the public, should be treated with lower standards than any of us? Please explain to me why a woman who has made millions of dollars off the back of her audience and consumers, for essentially doing nothing–please explain to me why she shouldn’t experience consequences for hurting and offending many of the very people who have elevated her to this position.

      9. Stassi is not “cancelled,” nobody is cancelled as long as they use these experiences to truly repent and grow and then educate others. Stassi will be fine. This will probably be the best thing that has ever happened to her, as far as personal growth. She will be forced to confront her own behavior, examine her white privilege, listen to those in the various communities she has hurt, educate herself, and change her behavior. She’ll find another job, she’ll get married, she will (hopefully) evolve. She finally has the incentive to now, where she didn’t before, because Bravo kept her employed and paid her millions. And most importantly, she won’t be cancelled from life by police like the black people she targets.

      10. BRAVO DOESN’T OWE HER SHIT. Again. They gave her millions, their employment of her led to sponsorships, she has published a book while many, many, MANY much more talented authors have not had the privilege of doing after working their entire lifetime for this very goal. She is not a martyr of Bravo. She would likely still be bartending or waitressing (which I am not knocking, these are essential workers) for an unacceptably low wage right now like others in the service industry, had it not been for Bravo. In fact, she owes Bravo a hell of a lot for giving her this life she has done next to nothing to earn or deserve.

      11. Please explain to me why, why when some shit like this happens, people are quickest to point out “it was a long time ago, geez, people shouldn’t get fired,” instead of “wow…this woman remembered this years later–it must have really fucking hurt her.” There is a REASON why Faith to chose to bring it up now, triggered by this outcry. It traumatized her. It wasn’t a casual joke from a few years ago.

      12. IF YOU ARE WHITE, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO ACCEPT HER APOLOGY ON BEHALF OF BLACK PEOPLE. NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO LISTEN TO BLACK PEOPLE, NOT STASSI FUCKING SCHROEDER.

STOP IT. JUST STOP. STOP PROTECTING PEOPLE LIKE THIS. STOP DOING LOGIC PRETZELS TO EXCUSE THEM. STOP INVALIDATING ANOTHER HUMAN’S PAIN. STOP BEING PART OF THE PROBLEM. JUST FUCKING STOP.

I do think you have to allow for people to have growth as they mature and interact with new people and gain new insight. We all grow up with the influence of whatever beliefs are held in our family and in our communities, but we might not hold those views forever. I know I find myself getting more liberal every year. This is partly through interacting with new groups and conversations with friends. But this is also how the world is changing. We see more, we know more. For example, gay marriage being legal and more prevalent helped a lot of people realize that it really wasn’t a threat to them. … I don’t remember what Stassi and Kristin said, so I don’t know if that fits here or not.

The funny thing is, none of these people were hired because they are good people. It’s reality TV. Sadly, this is reality. The sensitivity training is a good idea though. I’d love to be a fly on the wall to see Jax at that. Guarantee he says something stupid.

I agree, none of them were hired for pious natures. The fact they waited two years really irritates me. I feel they condoned or turned a blind eye to behaviors that could have been called out. That said, this could have been used as a teaching for many people if Stassi or Kristen were shown to be to be remorseful, attending social awareness sessions, helping at soup kitchens, etc. now they’ve cut them lose with no lesson to the public other than they love you a lot – until they don’t.

I do think with all that is going on at this very moment companies are having a harder time justifying why they kept certain people. Honestly they probably felt like it was best move to also clean house too. Two of them were new and weren’t bringing anything and were a liability and two have been there since the start, have no real connection to the restaurant anymore, and were now a liability so it makes sense.

All of these channels ignore and even worse, go out of their way to cover up these sorts of things. Look at 90 Day Fiance and Babygirl Lisa. I watched the whole 10 hour leaked tell all where her husband says on camera that she called him the N word, and even then KNOWING that so many of us saw it, they STILL didn’t address it, or include it on the show. They cut it out. Now, of course, they have let her go because fans went ballistic that they did that. If that hadn’t leaked, there’s a good chance we never would have known, because I’m sure they probably even told her husband not to share about it on social media. I can’t imagine the stuff that is on the cutting room floors of reality TV. I’m sure a lot of people are very nervous right now.

I don’t support firing Stassi. If what Stassi has said is a real issue with Bravo, she should have been fired at that time. I was really looking forward to Stassi and Beau’s weddings as it may be one of the better TV weddings to watch.
As for Kristen she was on her way out anyway and the new guys being fired was done in a fairly timely manner. So not upset by those 3 not coming back.
LVP and Pump Rules has come under fire recently because of their lack of diversity with the cast and employees so I figure production is trying to cover their own butts and am disgusted with hypocritical LVP! Jax appears to still be employed.

Thankfully I grew up in a family in which there was no bigotry – even behind closed doors.

I don’t think cancel culture works or is always productive but I do think what Stassi and Kristen did is egregious enough to warrant firing, particularly because they didn’t reach out to Faith directly. It’s upsetting Bravo didn’t take a stand at the time (nor properly address Katie’s and Arianna’s fair discomfort with the police prank) but I am hopeful that with public pressure now they might actually try to diversify their production and leadership staff and be better equipped to have these discussions and have informed responses in the future.

She did it with Sandoval/Ariana with the Miami girl, and she did it to James and Raquel with Hope. This seems similar to one of her ill conceived ‘revenge’ plans, just really nasty and calculated.

Bravo is only worried about $$$. The culture is shifting and is likely to boycott products that enable racism. If Bravo cared they would have acted immediately. But I mean Bravo has been rewarding bad behavior on Television for years so who’s surprised? Then again we watched it. Maybe next they can address Lisa Vanderpump’s idea of the LGBT community which to her is just the “white, cisgendered, “straight acting”, gay male” accessory. LVP is the Abercrombie & Fitch of restaurants — Attractive white Youngsters in the front, maybe token minority (that wouldn’t always be viewed as the first one to steal) and everyone else in the back. When would she ever feature cast members that were Black, Latinx, Asian, non-binary, queer, trans, etc.

LVP’s “empire” of Baroquechic-Eurotrash-house -music-lounges-meets-fake-flower-dept-at-PicNSave” is crumbling. I wouldn’t half surprised her and Ken sell/close/fraudulent insurance on Villa Blanca under the guise of “riot damage”/COVID. Ken looks like the type who probably was raised in the UK with pro-Colonialism thoughts. So who know what he says behind closed doors.

Here’s what makes me roll my eyes … “Vanderpump Rules casting going forward will be more diverse.” In order for THAT to happen, HIRING at the restaurants will need to be MORE DIVERSE.

It seems that all of the VP restaurants hire on good looks, but they have overlooked everything except white beauty. Beauty comes in all colors and sexual orientations.

The show does not have “SUR” in the title, so I would love to see it include more of Pump (the, GASP, GAY restaurant in the Vanderpump WeHo empire) and TomTom because I LOVE Sandoval and Ariana and Schwartz makes me laugh too.

I predict “flagship” Villa Blanca will take a convenient Covid-19 bankruptcy dive. It was going down anyway, now they can do the Coronavirus Shuffle and spin the taxes, etc.

curious if what they did is a “crime” in line with filing a false police report?

and i am with others in wondering why this wasn’t caught/dealt with at the time? if you watched last week’s reunion, the 2 new guys were called out and apologized and Lisa went as far as saying she didn’t think they were racist. I wonder if the rest of the reunion will be shown now?

Say what you will about Katie, but she was the one who pointed out how unfunny the whole police stunt was, in light of what African Americans go through. Yet she got called the shrew. Between her and the very woke Ariana, they may save the TomTom foursome. I can definitely see the show revolving the club, along with new hires.

Completely agree. I never in a million years would have thought Katie would have been the voice of reason.

      I agree as well.
Katie can be, like, wise ass stoner mother hen to Dayna, Charli, and Danica.
They are all charming and twisted and funny.
      I’m down.

Not because of Racism. But possibly because of the shitty production company. I have a whole exclusive about this but things keep updating.

If Bravo wants to diversify their show offerings, how about another season of Southern Charm: New Orleans?

I know I loved that show!! They can also give Family Karma a season 2. Also bring back Mexican Dynasty as well.

It’s hard because I’m a supporter of blm and I feel heartbroken for what they have had to deal with in America. But I also feel people make mistakes and maybe this is the time to educate them as opposed to dropping them. Stassi I’m a little harder on because this the second time. One time is a mistake or bad decision. Twice there’s a real problem. I do hope kristen can rise up from this and make a difference and educate others on ignorance. Now Jax needs to pay for his crimes. He has gotten away with way too much.

Also I hope that this will teach them a lesson that being a mean girl is not cute. Especially as adults.

I wonder how the show will go after this…

One last thing, why doesn’ Bravo respond to Mysogyny like they are to racism? Remeber the latest season of Below Deck where Kate was groped by Ash who forced a kiss and later threatened her violently? I recall how bored Andy was at their reunion and how he just didn’t get that the whole season reaked of sexism. He barely called anyone out or showed compassion. I’m don’t think Bravo really backed those women. Captain Lee did though!

I imagine, after today’s news, Stassi might be a little nicer to Kristen.

I feel the same way, Kris. I’ve been ranting about the misogyny and how especially the RHOA are expected to verbally and physically attack each other for ratings. The problem is, black people don’t watch racist tv shows. But women show up in huge numbers to watch the misogyny channel. It’s a sad fact about women.

I started watching Stassi on Season 3 Amazing Race Family Edition a few days ago….before firing (I swear).
She comes off as very bright and delightful, but I did catch something..
Her father is an ass who says inappropriate things.
While passing a competing group of sisters, a few which may have breast implants, he calls them, “The Silicones”..( not a super big offense, especially in 2005).
Satassi slaps him on the knee and says “That’s awful”!
They all cackle loudly, but then ( and this is where it gets interesting)
his wife calls him”hardcore” and said “ he is a very aggressive type of person, if someone overheard him, they might take it the wrong way”.
    Hmm.
    This was episode 1.
I am falling down the rabbit hole and will report any other clues to how this woman could be so bright, yet so tone death. Lol!
And yes I need to get a fucking life. Lol.

      (Tone deaf).. lol.
While I know she might deserve to lose her multiple revenue streams right now, I do feel for her.. it’s gotta suck.
Maybe we’ll see her on Fox News soon..
      They’ll hire her.
      Straight up with Stassi!

This has nothing to do with the topic, but did you notice that the design and color of your avitar in front of your name changed between those two comments? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that happen before.
