I’m going to give this Killing Eve Recap a shot before I run across any spoilers. Nanette kindly pulled the photos and sent them to me with a spoilery comment in the subject line. So know I am dying to know all about that. I hope we are not losing yet another of my favorite characters. I believe we are only getting eight episodes this season so this is probably the penultimate episode.
Ever since the episode where Villanelle killed most of her family in Russia. She has been a hot mess. She doesn’t want to be an assassin anymore. She seems sad. We catch up with her this week once again meeting with Elena. It’s not entirely clear who Elena is really. Frankly a lot of things are not clear this season. Like, is that Elena’s house or some sort of medieval museum? Who was the other girl in the room? Why is Elena professing her love for Villanelle while checking out her injuries she sustained when she got sloppy with her last kill? Why is she oddly hugging her and petting her? She tells Villanelle she is an agent of chaos and a beautiful monster. What is the point of this scene?
You Don’t Deserve An Omelet!
Also, I think I am going deaf. I can’t make out half of what they saying. Elena encourages her to tell her what is troubling her. Villanelle says she did something bad to her mother. She took a shit in her mother’s shoe when she was three. No mention of burning her in a fire. Elena appears to be leaving on that note. Then Villanelle asks for another job. The reason that Villanelle needs to take Dasha with her on the assignment was inaudible. Perhaps she said that Villanelle was injured? Elena agrees to that but says there can’t be any more screw ups this time. Villanelle thanks Elena for the inappropriate touching. She kind of liked it Then they have a bit of a tit for tat about whether or not Villanelle could kill Elena before Elena killed her. It seems like sexual foreplay for these two.
Carolyn Martens, who hasn’t been herself since Kenny was killed, is unhappy with her new assistant, Moh. He’s been following Paul and has no evidence that he is part of the twelve. Remind me again, who is Paul? She is so unhappy in fact that she won’t allow him any breakfast. She dismisses him and Eve comes into the restaurant just in time to eat Moh’s omelet. Eve reports that Villanelle has been promoted. News she gleaned from that odd meeting in a bowling alley. Then Carolyn deprives Eve of the omelet as well. They argue quietly about which of them has a Messiah Complex. Is it me or is the writing getting worse each episode?
Just Like Her Mother
Back in Moscow, Irina has been arrested and identified as a sociopath with no empathy. She told investigates she regrets not backing up and running her mother’s boyfriend again. Konstantin laughs when he is told about her comments. So many sociopaths on this show. Way too many to keep straight. Konstantin tries to bribe the investigator with a ton of cash and a 10% discount on a massage at the Ritz Carlton. It doesn’t work. Irina seems to love being incarcerated with lunatics. Until Konstantin says he is leaving her in there for a couple of days. Then she throws a fit.
Back at Bitter Pill, the company Kenny was working for when he was murdered, Eve is in the dumpster trying to find the box her birthday cake came. She’s convinced Villanelle sent it to her and is going to try to trace her that way. Inside the office, she and Bear find Jaime standing in a ransacked office. There was some sort of police raid. Bear manages to get the credit card information on Villanelle. She’s in Aberdeen, Scotland with Dasha preparing for her next kill.
Dasha Prepares For Retirement
Despite the fairly disjointed nature of this episode, there are some funny scenes like Bear talking about losing his virginity and Jaime being shocked he’s not still a virgin. And the scene in Aberdeen where Villanelle and Dasha check into the hotel and Villanelle pretends Dasha is her mother, who has dementia. Then they fight in the elevator. Dasha squeezes her injured arm and tells Villanelle she is going to die alone. Ah, I finally have something in common with Villanelle. Then Villanelle asks if Dasha’s son has her halitosis. There is our smell reference for the episode. We all know Villanelle has no sense of smell. Or perhaps this writer doesn’t? But it is reoccurring theme.
And back to London we go where we find Geraldine, Carolyn’s daughter, all dressed up with dinner and wine awaiting him. Once again Konstantin shrieks like a little girl. He’s very easily startled for such a cold blooded killer. Geraldine was unrecognizable to me until she mentioned her mother. She apologizes and says perhaps it is best that she leave. It’s just that her mum is on the verge of figuring out something very important and is crankier than ever. Hearing this, Constantine tries to convince her to stay. But it was all a setup. Geraldine suspects he has just been being nice to her to get information about Carolyn. And Konstantin admits it. Geraldine leaves with the parting words, “I hope you die.” Why didn’t she take the steaks?
In Aberdeen, Dasha and Villanelle are playing golf in the most unusual golf attire. This is Dasha’s last kill and she is going to miss killing people. There is a foursome of fat, loud American men on the course just ahead of them. Dasha loves killing loud Americans. But, when Villanelle offers to let Dasha kill him, Dasha tells Villanelle she has lost her confidence and that she only wants Dasha to do it because she is afraid she will fuck up again. Eve tries to hit the guy in the head with a golf ball but the ball goes into the woods instead. Ooops.
Then. in an unexpected turn of events, Villanelle isolates the target from his group. She lures him into the woods with Dasha in her wake. At first I thought Dasha would kill him before Villanelle got the chance. But instead Villanelle kills Dasha! And she lets the target go. Elena is not going to like this. The target runs out of the woods at the exact time that Eve’s taxi is going by. He tells Eve that a crazy woman on the golf course tried to kill him and then killed her mother. She leaves him on the side of the road and tells the taxi driver to take her to the golf course.
Dead? Not Dead? Part Seven
In yet another odd, unbelievable scene, Villanelle goes on the run and meets up with Konstantin. Because that makes sense right? Wasn’t he in London the night before? Now he’s at a golf course in Scotland? Eve finds Dasha’s body. She’s not dead. Then Eve kills her? Or at the very least doesn’t help her.
And we are back in London with Moh, he’s leaving a voicemail for Carolyn. He’s found something on Paul. He walks by a brunette woman with an umbrella sitting on a park bench. Should I know who she is? She follows him. Oh noe, Moh! You in danger, girl!
In more, WTF is happening news, Villanelle and Konstantin are in a train station. Then he has a sudden heart attack. They were going to get Konstantin’s money which I presume he was planning to use to flee to Cuba. Villanelle gets him to give her the digits for the account and takes off leaving him to die on the platform. Seconds later, Eve is there. How did she find them? I have no idea. She asks for someone to call for an ambulance for Konstantin. Because apparently, no one thought to do that previously. Then she asks him where Villanelle went. He turns his head toward the train and Eve sees Villanelle waving at her from the moving train.
Carolyn Shows Emotion
Cut to Moh dead in the river. Because why not? Then commercial. Then we get an odd scene with Carolyn and Geraldine. Carolyn orders take out. Then runs a bath while in another room and just lets it wash everywhere. She’s upset over Moh’s death. Yet showing no emotion at all. Geraldine freaks out and calls her an emotional iceberg. I am pretty sure Moh and Geraldine are the only non-sociopaths on this show. Oh an Niko. Have we seen the last of Niko? Is his penis okay? I’ve been ever so worried about his penis for three seasons now. Anyway, Geraldine tells her mother she needs to find a way to express herself so she throws vases and starts breaking things. Poor Moh never got the celebratory omelet he was going to make.
Then we see Konstantin and Sasha in the hospital side by side. Then we see Eve in London again. Because why make anything make sense before moving on. She gets a call from Villanelle. She says, “We have to stop running into each other like that. It’s not good for both of us.” AND……SCENE.
WTF did I just watch?
