Hey, let’s try to get caught up on RHONY recaps during these trying times. And perhaps while we are at it we can be a little bit less judgmental about how we are all getting through these scary times. We are all doing the best we can. We are all afraid and making whatever choices we need to make to get through this. No one needs anyone’s advice on what they are or are not eating, drinking, smoking, etc. We are all grown and don’t need to be preached to at the moment. Thanks.
We start on the high line. I haven’t been to NYC since that was put in. Then we are back in the boxing gym with that crazy boxing coach who calls Tinsley, Tinsdale. Tinsley is still irritated with Dorinda telling her what to do all the time. Dorinda is a bossy bitch who wants to tell everyone else what to do. Dorinda is obsessed. These boxing scenes, while funny are nonsensical. Did Luann just take a swipe at the south? Ramona for once hits the nail on the head. Dorinda is jealous of Tinsley.
Dorinda Is Angry
I know I am in the minority but I don’t care for Leah. And the Luann and Leah connection seems forced. Luann is super judgey of Leah’s apartment. I’m so over the judgey people. Luann lies about her drinking. Dorinda admits she has broken up with John. Who cares? Apparently, it’s going to be the storyline for this episode. So we are going apple picking. Or something. Or pumpkin picking. And peeing in a corn maze it seems. Elyse speaks her one line, “So Dorinda what’s going on with John.”How much are they paying her for this? I’m going to need Leah to learn how forks work. Basically, Dorinda is loosing the cheese off her sandwich too. And she is so jealous of Tinsley.
I do sort of get Dorinda’s pain, but her life story not working out well is not Tinsleys’s fault. So let’s just all go on a hay ride. Leah and Tinsley decide to climb trees. Because, of course. Is Luann really judging Sonja for being drunk during the day at a vineyard? It’s not like she is assaulting a cop. The hubris of some people. It’s time for the corn maze. Because who doesn’t like a drunken corn maze? Sonya and Tinsely pee in the corn maze. Because, wine.
I liked this episode, there just wasn’t much to say about it. It was a fun episode though. But Dorinda is so mean. She’s hurting and lashing out. I can relate. Sonja is wasted. Luann is about to be swarmed with dic pics. So much dick talk. I vaguely remember dicks.
That was the fastest episode ever, but I liked it.
Because my cable was out for part of this mess, I decided to watch the RHONY from the beginning and Dorinda was in several of the (I think) 2011 episodes.
I’m guessing it was right around the time her husband died because she was so skinny. I could barely tell it was her.
This episode was sad. Dorinda is clearly losing her shit but I don’t know why she’s coming so hard for Tinsley. Don’t the other women see this? Why aren’t they trying to help Tinsley? I really hope we aren’t going to have this storyline for the whole season, I can’t watch drunk Dorinda be mean to Tinsley every week.
I’m in a shit mood. I was supposed to be sitting in a bar in Turks & Caicos right now sipping a Long Island iced tea and planning out my week. Waaaahhhhhhhhh! 😥😡😥😡
Because like Ramona said, if Dorinda on Tinsley she won’t come for Ramona.
I think most of the women are jealous of Tinsley for the same reasons as Dorinda, just to lesser degrees. And the older women tend to be very supportive of each other against the younger women – like we saw with Jules and Kristen.
I think Tinsley is light and airy, like whipped cream or meringue. She doesn’t mesh well with this show, but it’s not her fault. Production shouldn’t have cast her. Season after season, you don’t see the older women filming with her unless there’s some artificial set up, like Tinsley living with Sonja. Even putting Tinsley in the daughter’s room at Sonja’s was a way to make Tinsley look childish in comparison to Sonja(!). Tinsley has to bring in her mom to film with someone, and now they’ve brought in Leah. Tinsley is sweet and genuinely doesn’t seek conflict with anyone, but reality shows by nature require there to be conflict, or else there’s no story.
Dorinda is awful. When she’s good, she’s hilarious, but when she’s bad, it’s unbearable. She needs therapy for her grief, and she needs rehab.
I thought this episode was HORRIBLE! If Dorinda said just one of those mean and nasty things to me I’d be out. She’d be deleted from my phone and I’d make a conscious effort never be near her again. I don’t tolerate bad behavior well at all. I’m giving this season one more chance and if it’s anything like last nights, I’m out. It’s just too trashy, UGH!!
Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah Dorinda! Your husband of FOUR years died and left your millions. You don’t have to go to work, you don’t have to worry about bills, you don’t have to worry about your daughter (first hubby took care of that). So STFU! She’s crying because she doesn’t have someone to take care of the phone calls anymore and take you to fancy dinners where the Clintons were in attendance. She’s pissed because she’s not in that class of people anymore. I heard she used to drag her sick husband to events. His friends don’t care for her. It was notable that none of his family was at that memorial a few years back.
Give me a break you weak person. Walk a fucking day in my shoes and you’d crumble! I was so mad at her during this episode. I would have anihilated her if she ever spoke to me that way. Does she not realize how blessed she is? There are young mothers who’s husbands have died and they have to work three jobs to put food on the table. Maybe she should see how the other class lives for awhile and get some damn perspective!
Bam! Yes! You said it much better than I did, lol.
This! During that scene I was literally yelling at my TV “Oh pooooor Dorinda. SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FUCKING BITCH!” I wonder how many people were saying the exact same thing in that moment? I would have loved to have heard inside of other viewers homes. I mean she’s REALLY pissing people off. Probably one of the worst behaviors in housewife history, and that’s saying a lot.
Dorinda is being awful. So glad the others are getting along. I love Leah! Great addition.
Dorinda definitely needs to tone it down about Tinsley and just zip her lip. I’m not sure she is jealous of Tinsley as much as she has zero tolerance for Tinsley’s petty, superficial problems. Dorinda is going some real, big life problems at the moment, it’s made her unsympathetic to the petty drama. And petty drama is what these shows are all about. I get it, been there, and was cuckoo for a while too.
When it comes to Tinsley, Dorinda needs to clip, clip, clip.
Yes Dorinda does! Tinsley is damned either way. If she talks about her problems they belittle her. If she keeps her shit to herself, she’s not being open. Dorinda is a mean bitch. I have liked her at times in the past, but she’s just become so mean. LuAnn and her pretentious bullshit annoys the shit out of me. I don’t care if she drinks or not. I’m just tired of her trying to minimize her past drinking issues to falling in the bushes. She was so shit faced in FL she went into the wrong hotel room, assaulted cops, etc. Sonja is annoying me. I’m sick of every time Dorinda speaks about losing Richard, Sonja pipes in with, “I lost my husband.” It’s different. I know a divorce can be a loss of sorts, a form of grief, but I just disagree that it’s like losing someone forever who you are in love with and them in love with you. Sonja living in the past annoys the shit out of me too. I did somewhat enjoy Leah calling her out on that at Ramona’s house.
All of these women, except maybe Leah, are living in the past. Sonya as Mrs. Morgan, Luann as the Countess, Ramona as Mrs. Mario, Dorinda as Mrs. Richard and Tinsley as the It Girl 2004. It’s actually sad to watch if not pathetic. I’m the same age as these women and my life has ups and downs, but I never live in the past.
I agree on all except Ramona. She doesn’t seem to be trying to get back with Mario. She just wants a new mate and a new chapter of her life.
Thank you for this recap and especially your request that we all survive this mess in the manner that works for us. I am so tired of hateful tirades and the preaching on social media.
Yes- Luanne took a swipe at the South. I am so tired of her superior attitude while selectively forgetting she is a horny drunk with a mugshot and a history of questionable choices. Tinsley did not deserve Dorinda’s attack but she has got to stop crying like a junior high girl- it only fuels the situation.
Wishing you and Banjo a good weekend!
Dorinda is making this show unwatchable. She needs to see a shrink.
As the episodes progress I still don’t understand Dorinda’s problem is with Tinsley – it isn’t only about Tinsley not sharing information with the others, it’s personal. Ramona is right – Tinsley is Dorinda’s punching bag.
The strange thing is that Dorinda seems to feel justified in treating Tinsley this way.
Agree with you!
I want to see how Dorinda reacts when Tinsley gets engaged to Scott. It won’t be pretty.
Dorinda has admitted a drinking problem after losing Richard as if it was just situational. She is mean when she drinks, mean when she’s drunk and mean when she’s stressed. This isn’t the first season where she’s had a target.
Watching LuAnn and Leah bond over their alcohol issues and beginning to drink again was actually the saddest thing in this episode. Instead of one being a check or support for the other, because they are both contracted to a show that runs on alcohol, they are becoming co-drinkers and enablers.
Yep. Dorinda has been slurring since her first season. Speaks gibberish when she’s drunk. She cries all the time too. She has no right to talk about anyone’s drinking or relationships. Member, she dated John… Get help, lady.
I agreed with Leah when she said that bottle doesn’t define who she is. Constantly referring to yourself as an addict for life is bullshit. Some people can drink and control it and others can’t
I laughed so much during this episode- ty for that NY! I totally relate to dorinda, misplaced pain looks just like this
Damn! I’ve never seen it at this level on someone who you’re not really close with though. I don’t know where she gets off.
This episode was a shit show but Ramona saying about Dorinda “guess who’s suffering from her pain…. we are!” made me snort my wine!
Romana saying bad negativity is the best!!!🤪
Whoever the Micky Rourke look-a-like was made me laugh hard, much needed lightheartedness in these times.
Dorinda is deservedly getting savaged on all forms of social media. I am so disappointed that I was EVER a fan of hers. Disgusting, childish behavior. I hope she gets well soon.
Dorinda the gangster bully High School dropout needs to quit calling Tinsley ‘ stupid ‘ Tinsley granduated from Columbia.
The same school her daughter Hannah and first husband attended.
Yes!
According to an article in Saratoga Living and BravoTV.com, Dorinda graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1986.
I took a screencap of Dorinda’s opening and changed it to:
“I’m not always right, but I’m always drunk”
It’s aggravating and sad to watch her bully Tinsley. Don’t like her is one thing but she’s coming in hard with low blows and personal digs. And her stans are acting like that’s OK.
Dorinda’s tagline (“I’m not always right, but I’m never wrong”) doesn’t even make sense. Dorinda was clearly wrong, wrong, wrong in this episode.
The hatefulness that comes out of Dorinda is shocking. I hope she feels totally ashamed when she watches herself back. And why didn’t the others rally for Tinsley? When Tinsley was trying to respond to Dorinda, Ramona stood up and got in Tinsley’s face and kept telling her to be quiet–she should have done that to Dorinda when D was spewing hate, not to Tins when she was trying to defend herself.
And I don’t think it’s fair to characterize Tinsley’s problems as “petty” or “superficial,” as a previous commenter did. Tinsley wants to have children, but at the time of the show, she has just ended a relationship, so feels like she is back to square one and the clock is ticking loudly. That is a deep, elemental longing, not petty or superficial at all. I get that Dorinda’s life in her fifties is not what she had envisioned, but Tinsley’s life in her forties is not what she had envisioned either–and Dorinda’s problems are certainly not Tinsley’s fault.
Sad to see Luann and Leah drinking again. Sad to see Sonja so wasted and humiliating herself.
Well said! I agree 100%.
Dorinda is so ready for a fight with Tinsley on the show but I doubt miss “tough girl” is able to deal with all the fight coming to her online. Dorinda is being dragged on every form of social media. Normally I feel bad when this happens but Dorinda was so horrendous I can’t bother to care.
Tinsley, Ramona and Leah are the only likable so ones so far this season
It kind of scares me that I am SORT OF liking Ramona this season. When her motherly side comes out she is caring and gives good advice.
Just how long will it be before Leah and/or LuAnn wind up with a DUI or some other legal problem due to drinking. I wish never, but the odds are they will.
How many of us can say that this is exactly what I dreamed my life would be? Not me, not by a long shot but I don’t have $20 million, an apartment in manhattan and a home in the berkshires. Yes I know, money isn’t everything but it would solve almost ALL of my problems. She’s lucky that her daughter is doing well. She has no idea what it’s like to have a child suffer and you can’t do a damn thing about it. She doesn’t have to worry about getting old and not having anywhere to go. So put your big girl panties on and move on with your privileged life!
Watching LuAnn and Leah set up and justify their future drinking binges was hard to watch. I am not a fan of watching someone set themselves up for hard times ahead. Wishing luck to both of them for riding this drinking life chapter out.
I have been to that Apple Orchard. When you go on Labor day weekend you can pick peaches and other stone fruit. I had never in my life stood in the middle of a peach tree and smelled that smell before. It was amazing. I remember picking apples too, but everyone picks apples in NY in the fall. They must have taped on a Tuesday at 10 am because those places are never empty.
Who is. Elyse? I can see why they put her at the end of the table.
I loved how low Luanne’s voice sounded when expressing the “truth” about Leah’s apartment. So judgy
I do not like Dorinda this season, she’s unnecessarily mean to Tinsley, and I think she knows she looks like a bully, and they way she’s been shitting on John doesn’t help matters, acting like he’s beneath her. John adores her and treated her well. If she is still mourning her late husband, which I believe she is, it’s still no reason to be continuously disrespectful to Tinsley and John.
I neglected to mention – I need that wine glass STAT. *hic*
So are Tinsley and Ramona the only ones on this show who don’t seem to have a major drinking problem? That’s sad.
tinsley in her first two seasons clearly had an alcohol issue and almost certainly still does. ramona has a drinking problem, no question. since season one.
I love the opening to this recap. Perfectly said.
I can’t help but wonder if Tinsley’s Mother has ever said something to Dorinda regarding her treatment of Tinsley, and I also wonder how Dorinda would like it if some older woman (especially one with a daughter of their own) treated her daughter like that repeatedly. Dorinda is an absolute disgrace. I’m so glad she’s getting ripped to shreds on social media. It is 100% deserving. Also, let’s not forget her wanting Luann to drink again. Talk about misery wanting company. In my gut I just know that deep down Dorinda is DYING for Luann to fall flat on her face (mostly metaphorically but possibly literally as well). I’m sure she’ll be right there to kick her when she’s down too.
Lori, all of this!!! For Dorinda to “so classy” she sure is being to total opposite to Tinsley, and, by extension, her mother, Dale. I can’t imagine Dale would respond to Dorinda’s despicable behavior, and I hope she doesn’t, as Dorina is doing enough damage on her own. #TeamTinsley
I don’t care for Leah. So I guess we are both in the minority. I also want to say that I loved the necklace Luann had on at the pumpkin patch.
I loved the moment that Lean & Ramona had in the SUV the other day. Usually Ramona is so tone deaf, I was surprised at how on target her perspective was, and that she was patient & kind to Leah.
And by the way, WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? I miss your incredibly wrong opinions. LOL. I do agree with you about Leah though. She’s the obnoxious drunk from my college days as opposed to the obnoxious drunk old ladies we are now. It just doesn’t fit.
My a$$ has been here, but I keep being late to the party….I’ve been in stalker mode. And I’m still as fucked up as usual.
Well, you are in the right place. 🙂
But I should point out. I feel another mutiny is a foot. Or maybe a whole leg. Cat Lady Revolt 2.0 seems to be happening. And I am telling people to GDIAF again, which seems to trigger people. So buckle up!
Speaking of Cat lady, I’m nursing 4 kittens at the moment….not me, personally, cuz I have no nipples…..
You are currently my favorite person.
Almost every single New York cast member is a drunk. Also, interestingly, they are all mothers of young adult daughters (except Tinsley.). I know how the daughters must feel about their mothers’ antics, unless they too have the alcohol gene. It’s too upsetting for me to watch anymore. Especially watching Luann and Leah basically agree that they are going to give up their sobriety. (Luann has never been sober— she’s a dry drunk. Leah, I don’t know, but she’s scarier to me because her daughter is not an adult.). Dorinda is a vicious drunk bortch in a class by herself. Her treatment of Tinsley is horrible, and should not be tolerated by anyone. None of this is fun to watch.
Dorinda is angry, but Tins is an easy target and it’s just dirty for Dorito (as the boxer called D) to go after her. I love the boxer scenes- and how Tins won’t fight back. I’m 57, and part of my hiit workouts are to do boxing intervals- I HATE THEM- so outside my comfort zone, was not taught to be aggressive. But I’m not going to run or cower either- go Tinsley!
I’m agreeing with some other comments re: Ramona. At the picnic table, there was a shot of her face where there was actual compassion for Tinsley, and disgust yet confusion over Dorinda. If there is an underdog, Ramona is in their corner. She knows abuse, so I’m assuming that’s why. Same reason she told Tinsley to be quiet, back down, and not aggravate the situation.
Yet perhaps age does bring wisdom. I still think she has a formula for living, and doesn’t go too deep. But we’ve seen a softer side.
Dorita (I am still giggling over that) has a serious social/binge drinking issue as does Sonja. The difference is that Dorinda, as we all see as plain as the nose on our faces, is a mean, nasty drunk and Sonja is a sloppy, inappropriate drunk. Luann is still the pretentious cunt from the early seasons and how dare she diss the south. The Count de Lessep has remarried long since and she remarried so her title is bogus. I wish people would refer to her as the dowager countess. That would stop her little red wagon full of snobbery, ego and hubris. Ramona is looking more sympathetic, but don’t worry y’all, her tone-deaf entitlement can’t help but show itself at some point. Tinsdale is finally coming into her own. She needs to bring her more of her steel magnolia to the table. Mama Dale needs to show her how it’s done. I have always liked Tinsley. The jury is still out for me with Leah. The co-dependency with Luann is troubling. I think this show needs BF and if we can’t have BF, then give Tinsley’s boxing coach an apple. He is the best part of this season so far.
Ugh Dorito. I am 75% deaf and I heard Tinsdale as Dinsdale. I’m going to have to close-caption the boxing coach.
I would like you all to refer to me as the Dowager Tamara. I know that word only from that British show we used to watch. It seem then and now as both an insult and a term of reverence. So yeah, I am Dowager now.
Yes, the boxing coach was a hoot! And very perceptive, too.
This was a painful episode to watch. I stopped the playing of it twice to see how much time was left, I couldn’t wait for it to end. Sonja transformed into a sleazy, uncouth, gross persona. She’s not funny. She’s repulsive and totally unsexy. The Morgan family is nodding their heads. Agree with the postings about Dorinda, her behavior’s deplorable. Can’t blame Elyse for asking about John, it’s the elephant in the room. It’s fair for anyone to ask that question. Guess no one wanted to ask it so production had to invite Elyse. I like the boxing trainer, he’s encouraging Tinsley to fight for herself, she’s just not ready. She did hold her own against Dorinda for a while. Go Tinsley, you’re gorgeous and I’m on your side. Don’t expect Dale to help Tinsley, Dale is jealous of her daughter and is passive aggressive toward her. LuAnn, is it so hard to say something nice about Leah’s apartment? It’s her home! Did she ask you whether her coffee table was the right size? Is it so hard to comment on color, artwork, warmth, coziness? I like Leah, she is insightful about the reasons behind the behaviors of others, not so much with her behavior and alcohol. LuAnn shouldn’t be Leah’s sounding board on alcohol consumption. Ramona was likeable this episode but she’d have left the table if she spotted any of her social society ladies. Glad she has moved on from Mario.
Luann was very snobby in Leah’s apartment. I’d kill to have an apartment like that in manhattan. She’s a downtown girl. That’s where I’d be if I were her age.
TT, I definitely see you more as a Lady Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham. Feared for her pithy remarks and gimlet eye, played brilliantly by the legend Maggie Smith. A woman who appears to be of supreme confidence, who holds her place in the world with an iron grip in her velvet glove and suffers no fools. Or an Auntie Mame type of fabulous. Luann I just want to feel old and irrelevant because she is such a cunt.
I liked the episode too TT and yes, it did seem fast. Leah has been a good addition and so far I like this ensemble. Not missing Bethenney at all. Miss me with all the who is an alcoholic and who is a drunk comments tho’. Boring, pointless and repetitive.
And thanks for the reminder of not to be judgy and give unsolicited advice. It gets to be more than a bit much in so many places.
Dorinda should be away at rehab, not on nat’l tv. Painful to watch her use Tinsley week after week as her punching bag!! just as she has used John and now tossed him aside. These women have adult daughters – Luanne, Sonja, Dorinda in particular and should be totally ashamed of their horrific behavior! Wish they attacked back at Dorinda when she was on her rant to Tinsley. Luanne and Leah giving each other permission to drink – I guess it’s a prelude to coming episodes.
Dorinda is trying to be the leader post BF. The difference being while B could be just as brutal she had a natural wit that lended humor to her barbs. Dorinda is just mean.
My fantasy: that just ONE of the other women had had the integrity to stand up in defense of Tinsley and say to Dorinda,
“Shut your ugly mouth right now before I shut it for you! You’re a DISGRACE — you feel like a failure and you want to annihilate Tinsley because you can’t deal with your own life. SHUT UP!!!”
But no one had the balls, lest Dorinda’s vicious rant turn on them. I found Leah’s placating of Dorinda (as if there are two equal and valid sides to Dorinda’s attack on Tinsley) especially disappointing. They’re all self-serving.
God, I cringed watching Sonja get wasted and then be sexually inappropriate with every male in sight. I wonder what she thinks when she watches herself in these episodes several months later? Does she realize how sloppy and foolish she looks? Does she notice men pointedly ignoring her or sometimes cringing in disgust?
And it was interesting to see Luann observe Sonja’s drunken antics. What does Luann think? It’s sad to see her throw away her sobriety so casually.
