Open Forum Sunday!

May 3, 2020 by tamaratattles 132 Comments

I know I am behind on a lot of recaps. But I think I need another day to myself. I try to take Saturdays as much as I can as a day off. But I feel like I need another.

I’d like to ask you all to stay home if you can. Despite what your government might say. Stay home for all of us. I know it is weird because I always stay at home alone. But now I can’t even go to the store and buy what I want.  It’s a lot. I just need a moment. I am going to have two more months of this.

    Good Morning!
I really enjoyed what turned into an open forum that I guess started Friday but I didn’t get to read until yesterday. I really enjoyed the back and forth between you and others. I have a few things in common with you, alone, older, a retired teacher, dog mama, and a family that has more or less deserted me. I admire how you are able to pull off this site and share your funny insights. I agree; of those of us that can– JUST STAY HOME! I am in Michigan and it is amazing to me the number of people that still do not wear masks in public. We are ordered home now until the end of May. If I could just see the end in site it would be helpful but at the end of May we are likely to have another extension.

Thank you for being here. Take care of yourself the best you can, hug Banjo and stay in touch with us, we love it!

P.S. I ordered some of those bras you talked about and they are wonderful!

    Afternoon from Sunny Spain,

Tamara you do you. I am going to catch up on Dear Assholes and see what I have missed.

I did not go for my hourly walk yesterday, no baking, no TV, I sat on the couch, walked to the kitchen and bathroom and watched an orgy of ladybirds.

It is mating season thousands of them on my balcony and they are also giving the garden a little makeover.

    Bonus: Thank You Mother Nature.

I am taking today out as my brain is in a state of confusion, I went to bed Friday night feeling safe and secure, processed the fact that I won’t be seeing family till 2021 and woke up on Saturday morning to the world is suddenly all open for business, all at the same time. WTF!!

    Did I miss the memo!!!!

Baby steps are now let’s do a 2 minute fecking mile instead.

I am staying at home, I am officially a Quarantina Queen for the next 12 weeks.

Tomorrow pick up furry baby, shopping for essentials and home.

4 weeks later;shopping for essentials online as we will ALL be back in full Lockdown.

Europe needs to open for business as they do not have a pot to piss in and cannot afford to pay furlough to the general public so if you can manage with the basics, suck it up and keep that autographed Orangalina cheque, and stay at home.

I think I might be a criminal, I got given 3 tomato plants just before I had to go to Gibraltar.

I set up a makeshift watering system they looked kind of strange when I got home Friday

I am growing cannabis, I need to speak to a teenage neighbour. ASAP for more information.

To Grow or not to Grow that is the question?

Cheers, I have been researching and I cannot get past indicas, satvicas, autos, yearlies and the teenager who delivered the present has gone off grid.

They do look really pretty just not sure what the type of cannabis plant they are.

Cannot believe I am seriously thinking of growing them either, curiosity is getting the better of me.

Does it matter at this point what type the plants are?
They are weeds, they will grow. Do not over water, they will become leggy. I can’t stand the smell after a short time. Love sun be careful of sun bouncing back at plant at a higher heat and prolonged time. Especially when plant is young.

I’m not going to share my tough news, because i believe it is going to turn into good news so I will wait until then. I took a walk yesterday with family (outside, socially distanced, with masks and gloves), and watched my 83 year old mom conquer the rocks, mud, hills and sticks. She is an animal. She wont stay at her house, but we wont let her into ours, so we try to get together outside a little.
Also I started watching Killing Eve, finally. It is intense! It seems like a simple premise at first but then it gets all twisty and turny. Great series

Take all the days you need. I also miss going to stores, but it’s not worth the risk. I use to go to work at 7:30 am and not get home until 5:30/6:00 and those were on days that I didn’t work overtime. It’s a hard change not to be able to do the simplest of things that we take for granted every day.

I ordered a new exercise bike on Amazon, nothing fancy, just enough to hopefully get my behind into shape as I feel like I’m turning into mush.

Good for you for ordering exercise bike.

I have hope that because of this people might change & realize what’s important. At the end of the day the other things are just stuff. It took me losing literally every last thing I owned other than car & clothes because of illness. All we have is family and or friends.

We, you and I survived 9/11. We went a little over board in our thinking for a time, life changed how we fly, how we take charge not wait fir help and we all still trust just differently.

If we keep our asses at home wear masks tell others to give us our space We will live thru this
OMG the protests because ppl can’t go to a beach, f*ing stupid. It’s not about a beach, it’s the attitude that comes with going.

New Zealand has eliminated the virus from their ciuntry, 3 weeks no new cases.
Australia had 16 cases. Australia shut the country down to only citizens & certain legal residents March 22. Also had a very strict stay at home that is still in place.
Testing both countries tested to the capacity of tests they had. Tests are being manufactured 24/7 and their percentage of people tested is much higher than our capability. It cost me locally $175.00, no idea if insurance pays. I can’t get one though Only certain people are eligible.
We are in thus fir a very long time.

I don’t remember which post she mentioned it in. The prices are very reasonable. I measured myself EXACTLY how they described and the bras fit quite comfortably. I live in a tourist town that opened this week with many guidelines. Is anyone following the guidelines…NO! The local news sent cameras and found 3 tourists in masks out of 1000s. Very few shops had one way in, one way out aisles, No plexiglass at registers. I could go on and on.
I understand reopening, I’m probusiness but why can’t people follow the rules??
And tourists come here from EVERY state so no state is better than any other. Please people this is not the time for a vacation!

Plus “they” have never developed a novel vaccine. Never. Most new flu vaccines start with a flu vaccine and it is adapt to a new strain. That takes about 12 months or longer.
There is NO vaccine for this “novel virus” to start with. For 25 years researchers have worked on HIV and they still do not have a HIV vaccine.
Calif stores won’t let in without a mask.

I think tourist areas will be the most difficult to manage. Too bad they can’t just have disposable masks available for everyone as they walk in the door of businesses – or even vending machines that dispense masks. Geez, where the heck are all the masks and why is it taking so long to produce them? It seems right off the bat every state was running short. Apparently a certain country (we won’t mention names) hoarded them before the rest of the world knew what was happening.

Just throwing out this contribution to the bra discussion: if you want a comfy lounge/sleep bra or a more comfortable sports bra I highly highly recommend Motherhood Maternity’s wrap front “nursing” bra.

I tried these originally when i was post-partum but I liked them so much I bought more even after I was past that. For some reason I think you can only get them on Amazon now and not their store website now.

I LOVE this show. There are terrible sad things going on and heartache over unrequited love, and Mo breaking her own heart, but it makes me smile despite all that — and not in a ghoulish way, in a sunny way. I love that it is in San Francisco — I miss The City (of the West). We know what’s coming, but the Bernadette Peter’s character helped to soften the inevitable blow by showing what can come after. Since we have to suspend our disbelief, I hope Zoey will hear some heavenly singing next season.

I love this show for so many reasons but I really love Mo and the fact that she (not sure if that is the actors preferred pronoun) has a large part on the show. And it doesn’t feel out of place or at all like a token member of the cast. And I started following Skylar Astin on IG. He is awesome! The parents are amazing. My 16 yr old son and I have been watching Curb your Enthusiasm. She’s on the first few seasons with her husband, TEd Danson. What a gorgeous couple. I HIGHLY recommend going back to season 1 and watching. It’s a light irreverent show-a more “sophisticated” Seinfeld with no stupid laugh track.

I love the whole cast. And Ted Danson is so awesome. I binged The Good Place and then it ended this season! I hope Zoey sticks around. If NBC gave the Good Place so much time, I hope they do the same with Zoey.

Cheryle — LOL yes I agree.
Did you read about the 5 or 6 young men on a Sunday a few weeks ago. They drove to Santa Cruz from east of San Francisco about 60 miles for an “essential” beverage. They were spotted at a convenience store, questioned and given $1,000 tickets for intentionally breaking the stay at home order.
Police Chief said he can’t stop this type of attitude but stay out of Santa Cruz.

Arizona issuing a stay at home order almost a month after California we need a check point to turn people around.

Except now we have our red counties opening today saying they have no cases. True but that is the point until all counties have no new cases or very few.

      USA doesn’t have the testing.

The Swiss just developed a test with almost 100% accuracy to test for immunity.
      There is hope.

Gov. Newsome summed it up in one sentence when he told the young people flouting the restrictions by flocking to the beaches: GROW UP.

The idiots are acting as if THEY determine how the virus will act. They need to read the stats for Singapore and Sweden, where they opened everything up too soon.

The assholes going out TO PLAY are not the ones who live alone, are health-compromised, who have lost people, or who still have to work, or are involved in healthcare.THE SELFISH IDIOTS going out TO PLAY are putting all those — and everyone else — at unnecessary risk. All because I WANT MY MTV!

What I/ we can do: Be smart, stay home, stay in touch with the ones who love or need us. Wash our hands with SOAP. OFTEN. Steer clear of idiots. None of us want to say “I told you so.”

I love this idea, the Covid Cruise.

All those protesting snowflakes can fill as many ships as needed, and the whole lot of them stay there for a 3 week vacation. An extra week just to be safe. They can work if they want, or just party if they have the money.

Cram into the bars and restaurants, gamble, get their hair and nails done, shop, lay by the pool, shoot their guns and get tattoos, whatever. All the stuff they so dearly miss and would rather die for, than live without for another month.

No medical staff – but all the hydroxychloroquine, bleach, light, and heat you could ask for. If you get sick, order the HCQ Bleach Bomb, and go lay out by the pool – that hot sun and tasty beverage should clear it right up. If you are still alive after three weeks, we’ll let you come back on shore.

I have a sister who has been working at a nursing home for 30 years. Now they have an outbreak there. She is caring for our most vulnerable, and puts her life at risk every day because they deserve that much.

Some of them were drafted to the front lines, for years of combat, risking their lives for others. And these babies can’t sit on their couch, drink beer, and watch tv for a few months?

Talk to a vet about sacrifice for this country and fellow man, and then compare that to your little selfish sob story, you protesting pansies!

I have another sister who has decided to bartend again. Our state supreme court, via ZOOM feed, overturned our governor’s/health secretary’s stay at home order. Which was set to expire in only 10 more days.

Seconds later, the bars are crammed with people happy to be giving the virus the middle finger and the roll of the dice.

She doesn’t need the money, but is a workaholic with an alcoholic husband. So as his DD, they’d be in the bars anyways, might as well make money while she’s there. So she’s risking her life unnecessarily for a bunch of selfish drunks.

it was a very sad day when I woke up to the news that one sister is in for the fight of her life, and another has given up the fight. I’d take a bullet for her, but I’m not putting the gun in my mouth.

So now I’m stuck at home for probably the rest of the year. Living in a tourist town, it’s not safe to go out there with such reckless people partying all around me.

I was hoping for one helluva 4th of July, some real independence. But now that’s probably when the 2nd wave will hit here.

If you wanna go live your life at the expense of others, you should suffer the consequences at your expense as will. So please don’t clog our health care system with your likely avoidable illness. Save that bed for someone that took every precaution and should be saved. The medical staff don’t deserve the added risk, and I shouldn’t have to spend my tax money saving your life either. You know, the socialist stuff that is so very bad for us. /s

We are so elated in our home! Family contacted us from back home saying that my husband’s sister had been found unconscious. She was life-flighted to a bigger hospital after they stabilized her. It was a bleeding aneurysm and the neuro-surgeon was not hopeful at all. Burr hole, scans galore, tests all came back that it did not look good at all. They were talking about the need to decide if her gent should be removed. We quickly bought a plane ticket back home, started packing, hubby worked 14 hours straight to get ahead at work, and then we got an amazing bunch of phone calls and messages saying that sis-in-law was now conscious, she was following movement around the room, feeling in all four limbs, squeezing hands on demand, and get THIS: the nurse held the phone up to her ear so her son could tell her that he loved her and she started crying and tried to take the phone away from the nurse…which is SO her personality! The neuro-surgeon was amazed! They immediately did surgery. She came through and if all goes well they think she can be discharged in ten to fourteen days! It’s just the BEST thing that’s happened in our family in a long time and we are overjoyed! I wanted to share it with you all and send our family’s best wishes to all of you out there in TT Land!
And to also ask for prayers for the doctors and the ICU staff taking care of my sis-in-law because she is a strong and feisty one!
    Love to you all.

I understand you cannot comment. But this pisses me off so much. Maybe the counties should sue the coronavirus too. That’s how much sense it makes. What do they think Newsom has to gain? Fewer hospitals overflowing; fewer people dying, that’s all. Versus tourist dollars. If beach goers get sick, they can sue the counties that opened the beaches. As I wrote this, suddenly it made sense. ORANGE County vs. Democrat Gov. Newsome. Duh!

Talking about staying in quarantine? Stay in quarantine as long as you can no matter what politicians say. Continue to wear masks, gloves, and spray yourself with disinfectant after you go out. Continue to practice social distancing in public no matter what the moronic assholes around you are doing. Keep yourself safe no matter what idiots around you are willing to gamble. And this will also help to not overwhelm our health care workers!

Am I a criminal update : Teenager confessed, gift from his parents was switched out to 3 yearly White Widow seedlings.

Said teenager says I have a hippy dippy vibe going on and thought I might have enjoyed the switch out, plus I enjoy gardening and I am great at baked goods. WTF!! The little fecker is playing me.

I then received an email attachment all about making cannabutter. Teenager did not receive a reply…yet.

The teenager needs to find his plant babies a new godmother.

Harvesting time would be October, plants would be 6 feet tall… What was he thinking??

Spoke to hubby, we laughed about it.

Yes, these are indeed crazy times. I am going to put the fear of GOD into this teenager for 48 hours.

We will sleep on how to resolve this situation….

I am guessing it’s nit legal there. I grow everything BUT pot. That is the fiancée’s realm. But our grow supply has “my” horticulture guy. I get his advice on EVERYTHING doing with plants in this area. Distinctly different than any place I’ve gardened before. There is a lot of good info online. I’ve never heard of White Widow; I love the names.

It is a very grey area in Spain, I spoke to the Guardia ( military police) this morning when he checked out my paperwork.

That was a surreal conversation, looks like the teenager was not so dumb.

I can grow 3 plants as long as I do not sell the produce and as long as the neighbours are happy about it.

White Widow is a very hardy strain, grows great in Spain, he ( THE MILITARY POLICE ) explained, very pungent suggested I should also try out Magnum it looks like a Xmas Tree.

What a pity I cannot go to the next town as there is a grow shop there.

The TOMPOTS are now shelved for a couple of days while I do further due diligence.

Oh boy. I saw that the Canadian celebrities also did a version of a song to raise money. I have no issue with raising money for others. I hope I didn’t break a rule talking about this. If so I’m really sorry and won’t do it again. But I’ve been sick for, literally, 5 stupidass weeks and I’m done. I figure it’s safe here so—here is my rant:
I tried to watch the video, I made it to 2:37. WHY SO MUCH Bieber? Seriously, why? Also, NO! Just stop it, celebrities! Instead of asking US to donate: YOU DONATE! Stop asking us! Some of us have lost freaking jobs you dicks! (Me and Mr. Gatos) We may not make rent next month you assholes!
If you have enough freaking money to auto tune your voice-give money yourselves. Just GIVE YOUR OWN MONEY AWAY!
    Gah!! Shut up!
Rant over. They are such assholes (said in a spent voice)
    Thank you, TT.
Also, I’ll read the recap when it’s up (and I won’t get my panties in a knot cause I’m an adult if it’s not up RIGHT AWAY!) and then watch the reunion. I’m not invested in these women but I just don’t get the NeNe love that Bravo has. I don’t want to watch it because of her… just saying.
Tamara, hang in there. Ignore the nutters. Even though there seem to be a LOT more of them than previously known. I suspected there were but I thought it was just me. So take of yourself first and foremost. Recap when you want. Your many fans will wait!?

This is not bad news because we rejoice in the fact that she now joins her husband Jake in heaven and all is good! Maryland is a super hot spot for the virus, but I am committed to sheltering in place. I have done some curb side pick up for garden essentials LIKE THREE TOMATO PLANTS because I have got to be growing and sharing with you Tamara! Hoping for the best for my purple Cherokee plant! There was an article in my local paper today with a 75 year old woman. Here is a small excerpt and the thing that makes me so mad about this pandemic. People who built this country, who paid their dues, who are treasure troves of knowledge are made to feel as though they are a burden, a hindrance, when they should be enjoying their golden years. Thanks to the “fake media hoax” ?

“ It enrages me. I spent my career working for the federal government at Veterans Affairs. I raised my kids by myself. I basically had to raise my ex-husbands. I marched and fought for women’s rights. I volunteered for political campaigns. I pay taxes and fly a flag outside my house because I’m a patriot, no matter how far America falls. But now in the eyes of some people, all I am to this country is a liability? I’m expendable? I’m holding us back?”

Yes! I have used eSalon! I think it’s pretty great. It comes with everything you need(those extra pairs of gloves I saved have come in handy too!). I was pleased with the color and the grey coverage. I’ve personally found that I need to keep the color on for an extra 5-10 min longer than the directions say to get the color to take. It was easy to pick the color, too. Madison Reed seems to be the “latest and greatest” that’s out now-but I’ve not tried it. I just did mine 2 days ago and am very happy with the results-was looking rough! Feels much better to not see grey! Good luck! Hope yours turns out just how you’d like!

Thank you! I looked at Madison Reed too but, I saw lots of reviews that said the grey coverage isn’t good. So what’s the point? I was thinking that about the extra gloves too! 🙂

I haven’t used eSalon, but Clairol “Youthful Radiant Age Defy Hair Color” works very well on gray hair. It’s designed to cover grays and makes your hair look 10 years younger. It leaves hair glossy and soft and the color lasts about 7 or 8 weeks. You can buy it on Amazon for $8.00.

Hi friends – the weather has finally turned nice in New England and we got to spend both weekend days outside. I’m trying to pretend I’m on vacation. There are a million projects I should be doing both inside and outside, but I’m not doing any of them. Mostly I’m just reading.

I have been hoping for an open forum because I have two questions and this is the perfect group for knowing the answers:

    1) On XM Radio Andy, the bumper ad says “RADIO ANDY!” and then what sounds like “O E Y”, and I cannot figure out what that means. I have hearing trouble and I’m sure I’m hearing it completely wrong. I’ve considered whether they are spelling ANDY or it is a weird spelling of “Oi”, but neither seems right.

    2) On Shah’s of Sunset, Reza always has a gold coin for jewelry. He has a few versions — a necklace, a pin. What is it? I mean, what does it symbolize or why is it important to him? I googled it once and couldn’t find anything.

Thank you if you have any answers for me!!

My new discovery: Sobieski Cynamon vodka from Poland. At Trader Joe’s for $4.99! I think it it’s a winter holiday overstock thing. A few years ago, TJ had Gingerbread vodka for $3.99. I still have a couple of bottles because I use it only for cooking, no drinking for Nanoo. I did have the tiniest taste and it is so good. I imagine a Chai tea latte with a shot or added to hot apple cider. Iced Chai and Apple Sour in the summer. Or just with soda and an apple or lemon wedge. Fuck the Aperol Spritz and overpriced Loverboy!

That drink sounds heavenly! I have a Polish friend who used to give me vodka. It was the best. Unfortunately she has now moved back to Poland so we only talk on the phone. Plus, now that I’m homeschooling my grandson there is no drinking.

If you are doing fractions then you deserve a drink.

No fractions, thank goodness. We have a six year old so in the middle of math lessons I get things like “why is water wet?”. “You know grass is green and the sky is blue but not everyday”. Then I try to corral back to math.

So tonight I finally got a chance to watch the Shahs from Friday night. I am still so mad at Adam!!! He is all playing the victim now when he is the one who caused all this mess by his inappropriate texting and naked jenga playing. He is awful!! Just had to get that off my chest. At the end of the show, I saw that Reza and Adam were going to be on WWHL, followed by MJ and Tommy–but I didn’t have that set up to record. Did anyone happen to catch that WWHL? Anything interesting happen on it?

I did watch. The Adam/Reza line is that this shut was settled between them. But THEN — cue some horror flick music — the Evil Monster (my words) MJ hatched some evil plot involving Ali. What they were worried about was (as I think Tamara said) the term “sexual harassment,” and the scent of lawsuit in the air, that got them agitated. Right…

It was very painful watching Tommy. He is suffering so much from this crap. You could almost see his blood pressure mounting. PTSD. His anger is justified, but I am worried he will have a heart attack if he cannot find a way to offload it. Nothing Adam and Reza can do is worth the loss his family will feel if he doesn’t take care of himself.

A few things. I am sleeping oddly. I sleep a few hours and am a awake for an hour and lather rinse repeat. Lately I am having nightmares where I have to wake up and remind myself who is dead and who is alive.

ANYWAY. I am terrified of the mailbox. But I just took our the trashcan because it is early and noone is out there even though trash day is tomorrow. While I was there i checked the mail. There was nothing but a million bugs that looked like termites! SIGH. I sprayed them with my very valuable bleach cleaner. WTF? If it is not one thing it’s another.

In other news, I am always afraid I’ve fucked up my relationship with my person. And we are all good. So maybe the nightmares will stop. As long as he still talks to me I am good.

I’ve hated Bravo shows for a long time now, to be honest. And they just seem even stupider to talk about now. I may just give you all discussion topics for a bit. And good shows like Killing Eve…. I just don’t have the braincells to recap. I’m just not in the good place, I appreciate being able to talk to you all here. Things just might be different for a while. I need to eat more and drink less. But I’m just afraid and alone and not making good choices.

This hits home with me TT. It is the anniversary of my son’s death and my mother chose this time to bring up all the abuse I suffered as a child. I really never want to talk about. So tough time and now add the nightmares and panic attacks talking about my childhood brings on. Luckily, she decided she doesn’t want to talk to me anymore so I get a little peace.

Anyway, I feel for you and hope it gets better. You’ll be in my thoughts.

I cannot imagine the loss of a child. I hope you get some relief having a safe place to air your pain and fear. Especially because it seems your mother may not be the best communicator.

TT we do not come on here just for Bravo, Thank You for your honesty on how you feel about Bravo.

    You are one brave woman.

We are all entering a new phase and we need time to process major changes at our own pace as individuals.

Discussion topics, Killing Eve, Top Chef there are plenty of options, take a time out, cut down on the booze a little.

Practice singing with Banjo and maybe just maybe accept that you can change up the site, we will still be here and guess what…you are stuck with us…..family is not always about blood.

You are not alone in regard to the sleeping, I cannot remember the last time I slept for more than 5 hours.

I suppose we are all grieving due to Covid 19 it is a natural way of processing the madness.

I hate that you feel so alone and that you hate bravos show,

I would hate that you are doing something that you hate for our benefit?

Ask the TT tribe what they want in the future that may get your creative juices going.

A major achievement for me is having a shower and brushing my teeth at the moment, if I get that done the rest of the day is a bonus.

    Take care xx

I read a story today that poop may help us learn about covid-19. The virus shows up in poop before tests. In the past, by monitoring the sewage wastewater, scientists have been able to track where polio outbreaks may occur; today they analyze opioid use. The theory is that they could pinpoint the next place that coronavirus may hit. Fine, makes sense.

Then, it gets to a CDC official having to repudiate a widely-read story in a British tabloid with a headline about coronavirus being spread by farts. Almost as stupid as ingesting cleaning chemicals to get rid of it. Maybe if they light their farts on fire, it will kill the virus.

No No No Nanette British tabloids pander to Covidiots and love to scaremonger.

Last week Bill Gates and China have a coronavirus cure, everyone is getting micro chipped and we are all getting monitored by 5G according to one of those tabloids…people believed this.

The shit I had to listen to in Gibraltar was mind numbing due to UK tabloids.

The poop study was printed in the Guardian and was actually an interesting read and then the shitty LVP BRITISH humour via tabloids poo poo the poop.
