Survivor Recap: Friendly Fire

May 1, 2020 by tamaratattles 10 Comments

By Guest Correspondent Cho

Hey, it’s Cho and I’m back with another Survivor 40 Recap! It feels like it’s been weeks since the last episode. Probably because I’ve been working super hard on some projects. I was sure to shout out my TamaraTattles family over on my website, so check that out here. ALSO, I have some major Cho Does Home Reno news coming hopefully soon! Back to Survivor, if you don’t know what happened last week that has everyone anticipating tonight’s episode, go read that FIRST! I have a feeling tonight will be extremely fast-paced!

Survivor RecapThe Fighting is Contagious

It’s the night after the major blindside of Ben, Denise, Kim and Sarah. We get right into the ACTION! Tony is already bullshitting his old allies. Jeremy is pissed that Ben is ignoring Jeremy. Ben has some fucking audacity to be upset with Jeremy for saving himself. I’m tired of people trying to gaslight Jeremy. No wonder he’s so miserable on the island. He stands firm in his decision to literally ignore Jeremy and is still going out of his way to target him at the next tribal council. Jeremy tries to talk but Ben flat out says he doesn’t want to talk to him. What the fuck did Jeremy ever do to Ben? Why is Ben such a petulant child this season?!

Sarah gives a confessional saying that she promised herself that she would remain calm in a situation like this and not to be pissed. Cue immediately to her screaming at Tony about how horrible of a move it was and that he’s fucked her position over. Everyone at camp can hear her yelling. Sarah tells Tony that if she gets voted out for Tony to NEVER talk to her again. Tony is upset that Sarah is holding him accountable. He builds a spyshack high into the trees. He’s ridiculous on so many levels. They seem to eventually make up.

A New Ringleader Emerges

Kim witnesses all the drama around her and has decided that Tony and Sarah are the biggest obstacles in the game. It’s clear that Jeremy is the next biggest target, but she sees value in Jeremy staying. She sits several people down with the hopes of gaining some traction against Tony to leave next. She says this is the point where people have to flip the light switch in the game. Michele is especially tired of being made a fool of. She and Ben agree that Kim has made really good points for Tony leaving next.

Nick is especially happy with all the fighting and feuding that’s occurring right now between Jeremy, Ben, Sarah and Tony. He sits down with Michele and Denise who are thinking they should slide by and take control over the game with the help of Kim as their ringleader. Nick says that Sarah, Tony and Jeremy are the biggest threats to win which is why they are the new alliance’s biggest target.

The Edge of Extinction Marathon

The edge has an endurance challenge where they have to transfer coconuts from one side of the beach to their camp. Only the first 6 will get fire tokens. Of course, Natalie is DOMINATING the marathon. Suddenly, Rob falls and cracks his elbow! Natalie and Sophie end up lapping the others several times, but Natalie comes in first. Yul, Parvati, and Tyson come in next and are followed by Wendell. Rob ends up continuing the challenge even after it’s over, bloody elbow and all. Amber cries in a confessional as Rob continues the challenge into the evening.

Back in the game, a mad dash begins for Sophie’s rehidden immunity idol. Ben suddenly finds the idol, and his first reaction is to hide it, but Tony immediately sees him. It’s quite the awkward situation! Tony then has the fucking nerve to chastize him for being dishonest. Ben says that Tony just blindsided him 4 hours ago! This may be one time where I’m on Ben’s side in an argument! Tony says “but that’s in the past!” which is a typical response of a master manipulator.

Immunity Challenge

The Survivors have to hold a lever that if released will drop a bucket of water over their heads. 1 woman and 1 man will win immunity so that should heighten the drama. Unfortunately, Jeremy is the first out followed quickly by Ben. Sarah is the first woman to drop. Nick then offers Tony a token in order to drop out of the challenge. Tony declines and says he wants to win 3 immunities in a row. Jeff suddenly brings out food to tempt survivors to quit: Kim, Michele and Nick quit. WHAT THE FUCK?! Big big mistake for all three of these players. 100% chance of one of them going home or worsening their position. This automatically gives Denise and Tony the immunity. Tony gloats about giving Nick a token for immunity noting that it’s definitely a bargain!

Tony’s Counter-Strike

Kim is upset about her plan to blindside Tony being foiled by his immunity win, but her alliance has decided Jeremy will be an easy vote to push until they can target Sarah & Tony next tribal.Should be simple, right? Wrong. Ben opens his big ass mouth to Tony about Kim wrangling the troops against him. How well do you think Tony takes this? Tony goes to Nick to ask if his name came up. Nick lies through his fucking teeth, but Tony puts him on blast! He’s unimpressed that Nick is fumbling through his words and figures out that Kim is rallying the “lower tier players” against him. Nick is a horrible liar. He should stop trying.

Michele has decided she’s voting against Jeremy, because she doesn’t feel like she can push the tide another way. What she doesn’t know is that there’s a big tide pushing against Kim right now courtesy of Tony. She tells Jeremy that he can at least use her 50/50 advantage. Tony sits with Jeremy to drag Kim’s name through the mud just as she walks by! We shift to Jeremy talking to Ben about taking Kim out. They have an uneasy conversation, but we’re left thinking Jeremy’s only hope lies in the 50/50 idol.

Survivor RecapA 50/50 Shot!

Kim, Michele and Nick admit that they regret quitting the challenge. We get judgmental comments from the jury for their poor move. Whispered scheming starts between Jeremy and Tony which immediately begets more chaos! Tony tells Ben to ask Nick to write Kim’s name down and he refuses. Suddenly, Kim tells Jeremy that Tony/Ben/Sarah are controlling the game right now. Sarah asks Tony for his idol. EVERYONE is whispering! This is crazy. Jeff starts narrating the shit show that we are all watching, and it’s absolutely hilarious. Everyone gets upset at Tony and Jeremy for causing the chaos. Lastly, Denise and Jeremy get into a TENSE conversation that sends chills down my spine. The fighting is contagious.

It’s finally fucking time to vote. HAHA! Jeff tallies the votes. Who’s gonna play idols? Who’s gonna play advantages? Tony tries to play his idol for Sarah, but she tells him not to, because she feels safe. Jeremy then breaks out his 50/50 idol, but does NOT play it! What is happening? Jeff reads the votes: Jeremy, Kim, Jeremy, Jeremy, Kim, Kim, Kim, and Kim is blindsided. She gives her tokens to Sarah, Michele and Denise. Wow. I’m going to have to rewatch this to understand what just happened.

And next week is 2 hours! Who do you want back in the game? Natalie, Parvati, Rob? What did you think of this episode’s gameplay? While I process what just happened, let me know your thoughts in the comment section! If you like what I do here on the site, be sure to support me in my other ventures elsewhere on the internet!

I was screaming at the TV for Jeremy to play the advantage. I’m so glad he didn’t go home with an advantage in his pocket. Rob’s never give up attitude was admirable. When he said he was out I thought he was saying he was out of the whole thing. Natalie is a beast. She could come back and win the whole thing. I’m hoping for Natalie or Denis to win this. I’m not sure I will be able to tape a two hour episode! Wednesdays are very busy.

Sorry for the delay in getting this up. I’m having some sort of nervous breakdown.

Cho- Great recap! I’m so glad Jeremy is still in it. I feel bad for him. Ben is being a total jackass. Jeremy is just trying to stay afloat and everyone keeps pulling him back under water. Hopefully he can keep resurfacing to catch his breath. Tony is hilarious but I don’t think Sara or the others are going to tolerate his antics any longer. I love that Rob finished the coconut challenge. There is a difference between the old school and new school players. The old school players seem to play the original Survivor concept- outwit, out play out last. New school seems to play with the concept outwit, outwit, outwit. Old school kept their tribe physically strong before the merge then it was every man for himself with a few solid alliances and a few that switched sides. The new school doesn’t seem to see the value in a strong tribe and they target the physical and mental threats that can help them win challenges. After the merge the alliances change everyday. I prefer the old school way. It just seems more authentic, but I will always love the show!

Kerry, completely agree with your comment. I’m still pulling for Jeremy, too. I also prefer the old school way of playing when actual alliances were formed. These tribal councils make my head spin. It’s so much chaos! But I’m still such a fan of this show! And I’m super excited that we get a TWO HOUR SHOW TOMORROW! Can’t wait! 🙂

Also, thank you Cho & TT for continuing to recap… so much chaos I need the recaps to remind me of all that happened since my brain cells are dying off at a rapid pace during the never ending self imposed quarantine of 2020. (My governor is an ignorant fucktard)

Oh, and I need Ben to GTFO my TV! Hate him! I don’t know what it is about him but he is probably the only player of all time that I can find not one redeeming quality in.

I was so mad at Kim for dropping out of the immunity challenge!
When Jeremy didn’t play the idol I was so mad at him, like u can’t trust Tony! So I was super surprised when Tony was actually telling the truth, and then I was so happy he didn’t play it. I assume that means he has to give it back to Michelle.
On EOE where Rob is my fav, I too thought he meant he was out of the game when he says something like I’m out, I’m done! But I wasn’t impressed that he completed the task when it was over and had been won, I thought he should’ve conserved his energy.

Thanks Cho, hope you and yours are well.

I would like Rob and Parvati back in the game. And while we are at it, bring Ozzy along with them. 🙂

I think Kim never should of dropped, none of them should for a cookie. Glad Jeremy didn’t use the idol. Another crazy council. I kinda thought Kim was going.

Rob called Tony a boss or something like that after tribal council when Kim was walking out, he sees that Tony is controlling the players votes i guess.

Can’t wait to see who comes back and looking forward to a 2 hour show.

Good season! But I wish the EoE players could’ve come back sooner. I know Tyson did, but he was kicked out again.

When I heard this was gonna be a season of winners at first I was disappointed, but I’ve actually enjoyed the season. Tribal Council‘s have really been interesting to say the least. I’m rooting for Natalie to come back and I’d like to see her with Denise as the final three with either Tony or Jeremy. I think it was unfair for Rob and his wife to be on the same season.

Totally off-topic, but I noticed that some of them trying to make a comeback have lost considerable weight, which of course is expected. But I wonder if they are checked by medics on a regular basis. Some of these players really look unwell…and the challenges don’t help…

I agree. Some of the old school players look very unwell. They do have medics on standby. But they are only removed in the most dire of situations. Those EOE endurance challenges seem very unwise for some of the players.
