I’m not sure if I am up for watching let alone writing a Killing Eve recap that starts with dead Kenny. Oh wait, Konstantin Vasiliev is at the wake. This should make for an interesting congregation. Konstantin and Eve are at the bar at the same time. He orders her a drink. Then he says to her, “You know when a bullet has been through you it leaves something behind.” Haven’t all of these people been shot?
There is a mysterious older black man there who seems to know a lot about Eve Polastri. Wonder what his deal is? Oh apparently he is Jaime, the head of the company that Kenny worked for, Bitter Pill. There is a woman crying at the sink in the bathroom where Eve is hiding. Carolyn came in, saw the crying girl (but not Eve) and turned around and left. Everyone seems to have been told that Kenny killed himself, even Carolyn, but Eve knows better.
Eve’s Grief
While Eve is too drunk to open doors and a bit emotional, Carolyn has her stiff upper lip fully in place. As Eve tries to stagger home, wherever that is, Carolyn stops her. Well it was the confounding door that really stopped her but, details. Eve asks Carolyn if she believes that he jumped. When Carolyn says yes Eve goes batshit and scream, “No! No! No!” Suddenly all eyes are on these two. Eve finally remembers how doors work, and off she goes. Carolyn turns around toward the mourners and says, “Didn’t like the buffet” as she strolls back in among the darkly clothed mourners in her pristine bright white wool coat.
Villanelle’s Promotion
Yay! Villanelle is in Barcelona, dressed like a fashion plate, with a smile on her face and just like that my spirits were lifted by a mass murderer. And of course Barcelona. Will I ever make it to Barcelona?
(Banjo was laying down next to me and I was ignoring him because that is what we do. Then he blows and angry blow and marches back to his crate. I’m in a state of confusion about what I did now, as I often am. Then I realized I have been mindlessly eating Cheezits. So I had to pause to share lest my only roommate during these trying times be pissed at me. AGAIN. )

Anyway, it looks like Villanelle has a new gigantic mansion in Barcelona. Dasha got it for her, I suppose for killing the woman from the first episode (death by paprika more or less). It’s amazing and met all of the requirements Villanelle requested, even the ever elusive “fantastic water pressure.” Dasha and Villanelle have a funny little conversation at a café about the kill (Dasha was impressed but she would have gone with turmeric) and Villanelle’s quest to be a keeper (Dasha tells her she needs to show she has some judgement).
The next time we see Villanelle and Dasha. Villanelle is getting instructions from Dasha on how to train a new assassin. This is not the kind job Villanelle wants. She suggests she just do the job and he can watch. Dasha says that is not how her new job works. Management is not easy, you have to watch someone do the job worse than you.
Carolyn’s Temptation Of Eve
Carolyn goes back to work but she doesn’t look like the smartly dressed Carolyn we know. She is going through the motions and going back to work. But, her shirt is buttoned wrong and her clothes don’t seem to go together. A stark contrast to the fashionista she can be at times and she’s not wearing makeup. The office it seems wasn’t expecting her back so soon. A man is at the boardroom table apparently expecting to run the show. He stops the meeting and speaks to Carolyn alone. He urges her to stay out on leave and take care of herself or it will catch up with her.

The next time we see Eve she is back at work in the kitchen of the Asian restaurant making dumplings. Carolyn shows up and the two sit outside for a brief chat. Carolyn tells Eve that she knows Kenny didn’t kill himself. But she has to be discreet and not make anyone suspicious that she is looking into things. She asks Eve to help her, and to tell her what her last conversations with Kenny were about. Eve says she does not work for her any more. Not after what she did in Rome. Then Carolyn tempts Eve with something she will not be able to refuse. She gives her a photo of Villanelle’s latest kill (by paprika) and tells her that Villanelle is alive and back at her old job.
Konstantin’s Refrigerator Magnet
Konstantin gets into a car driven by some female with the twelve. He is pissy (and hilarious) because every time a car picks him up it is someone new and he has to go over everything with them again. The twelve says he needs to stay in London longer and keep an eye on Carolyn. He’s pissed.

The next time we see Konstantin he bumps into Geraldine, Carolyn’s daughter, in a very accidentally on purpose way. They chatted briefly at the memorial service for her brother Kenny in a similar fashion. So, remember that refrigerator magnet Konstantin bought for his daughter in the last episode? He gives the magnet to Geraldine. She tears up a bit. Konstantin apologizes for upsetting her. She says, “It’s just moments of kindness mean a lot right now.” Oh Geraldine, this is not a moment of kindness. At the very least it’s a tracking device or a listening device or an explosive device. Who knows?
Kenny’s Phone
Eve still has Kenny’s phone but needs his passcode to get in. She can however answer the phone and read texts that come in. Jaime, Kenny’s boss at Bitter Pill, calls and tells her there is a tracker on the phone and she might as well just bring it in. She keeps on ignoring the calls and texts but eventually goes to the Bitter Pill office site to talk to Jaime, and one of Kenny’s co-workers named Bear. Bear lets it slip that all of the files Kenny was working on are stored in encrypted files on his phone. None of the three have any idea what he was working on.

Here is what I posted about Kenny’s investigation from the last episode:
On his computer he has photos of Frank Haleton aka the dickswab who fired Eve and Bill. He was the mole who was working undercover at MI5 and reporting to the twelve. Villanelle killed him via castration while he was wearing a dress. The other face on his computer was Fat Panda a Chinese hacker who according to the Internet was also killed by Villanelle at a BDSM place in Berlin. What do these two dead bodies have in common? I dunno yet. And also, later on when Kenny and Eve talked he told her that the dickswab and the fat panda’s accounts both showed activity. I wonder what kind of accounts. Bank accounts? Email accounts? Credit card accounts? all of the above. The dickswab may be alive y’all!
Côte D’Azur France’s Clown Shoes
This is going to be good. Villanelle goes to pick up her assassin trainee in Côte D’Azur. I’m 1,200 words in and only halfway thru! He’s a nineteen year old kid who is terrified. Villanelle tells him, “Just so you know, I’m kind of a big deal in this industry.” He tells Villanelle that he killed the entire family of a kid who beat up his boyfriend in school. When Felix tells her that even after all he did for his boyfriend he didn’t want to take him back. And now we have a point of agreement for these two scorned lovers to get along.

Villanelle and Felix dress up as clowns to attend a child’s birthday party. Really? Didn’t we already do a kill someone at a child’s birthday party episode? This one was very darkly funny. When Felix takes too long to kill the mark, Villanelle goes on to check on things. She finds Felix in a bloody brawl with the guy. Villanelle shoots Felix in the back of the head while he is still on top of the guy. Then she says, “Ooohhhh management sucks.” How is all of this violence so funny sometimes?
Carolyn’s Grief
Carolyn doesn’t know what to do with herself since they won’t let her come in to work. She’s can’t go home because Geraldine has taken over the house and constantly tries to get her to talk about her feelings. So her assistant Mo finds her sitting in a car in the Bitter Pill parking lot. She had talked to Audrey, Kenny’s girlfriend, for a bit to ask if he was unhappy at the end of his life. She told her that he was and that he loved his job although he did miss working for his mother. She was listening to Didone Abbandonata, a tragic Italian opera, and eating sandwiches. Finally, still in the car with Mo, she says,“I can’t solve it. I can’t investigate it. My hands are tied. It’s my son. .. and I can’t drop it.” And Carolyn begins to cry.
Villanelle’s Good News
Eve shows up at Carolyn’s house and tells her she has Kenny’s phone. Then she start spilling everything she knows about the phone and the thumb drive at the police station. As she is telling her all the the camera slowly pans over the to the refrigerator magnet that is recording the conversation so that Konstantin can eavesdrop on everything said there.

Speaking of Konstantin, when Villanelle returns to her Barcelona mansion. Konstantin is resting on her bed. After Villanelle violent attacks him and knees him in the nuts, the resume their usual pleasantries. The are both on the same side again. Sort of. Then he tells her that Eve is alive. We see all the feelings wash over Villanelle. And SCENE.
Absolutely Fantastic recap! I’m going back to read your last season recaps to refresh last season. This show is so smart & funny – in a very odd, but good way.
Cheez-it shortage in my town. Vanilla wafers too. I guess many of have the same comfort foods.
This recap helped me refresh a lot from S1 and S2 – thanks
Yay!!! I love your Killing Eve recaps! Without any innuendo, I want Eve’s dumplings. Also Villanelles entire wardrobe. Sometimes I wonder if I look for meaning where there is none with this show but I can’t help but wonder if there’s something to the care Eve puts into each individual dumpling. Also with the door at the pub, is it symbolic of her tendency to make the wrong move before getting things right? I don’t know, I’m probably overthinking it. The clown scene was so gross and funny! I wonder if Villanelle will get in trouble for killing her first student. I can’t wait for tonight!
Thank you for naming the opera playing in Carolyn’s car. I was trying to place it. Also for the clarification and backstory of the two people on Kenny’s computer. I couldn’t remember who they were when I watched the episode but I didn’t bother to investigate.
I am so happy you guys appreciate these recaps. They take me quite a while because I have go back and read things and google names that come up. I couldn’t remember what happened in Rome and went back to look for that link, etc. It takes both braincells I have left to do it. So seeing these comments lets me know it’s worth it.
I feel like this episode was mostly about getting everyone geared up and teamed up to start the fight all over again. And of course, Villanelle’s clothes.
Finally finished my binge of this show and am caught up. Thank you for recommending this a while back. Count one more as grateful for the work put in for these recaps. ?
