I’m am two episodes behind on 60 Days In recaps. I don’t really feel up to doing to recaps tonight but I am in the mood to watch something not on Bravo tonight. So this 60 Days In recap will probably be more of a discussion post.
Tony is still in solitary confinement for threatening the corrections officer. He’s scared. Donovan is trying to figure out a way to secure Tony’s stuff. But, Champagne is already trying to claim it as his and the CO Tony threatened seems to be willing to open Tony’s cell for Champagne to do just that. But the sheriff called the CO and told him not to let anyone in Tony’s cell. Then they let Tony back into the unit. Now Champagne is sure he is the police or on 60 Days In. And so is everyone else. Even the CO is telling everyone that Tony is with the show.
Men’s Pod
The shakedown in the men’s pod was more through. Tony has drugs and shanks and all kinds of stuff in his cell. He’s worried he is going to get charged with crimes for real. Except the cell search was pitiful and they didn’t find a thing. Not even with the drug dog. Then the guys started calling the production crew the police. Champagne was somehow able to let himself out of his cell. This is ridiculous. The men become extremely aggressive with the crew. One crew member is female. They decide to GTFO of there.
Women’s Pod
In the women’s pod the new CO is already friendly with the inmates. So much so that she tells them that there will be a shakedown that night. What an idiot. The shakedown was ridiculously pitiful in the women’s pod. Basically no body search at all.

The Sheriff decides to stop the mission and pull everyone. Both the women cry when the get outside. The both seem traumatized. They guys also seem very relieved to be out. Tony made it out with $60 in cash, a variety of drugs and some shanks. Donovan feels some kind of way about that. He feels like Tony “one-upped” him.
The sheriff met with everyone together. They all complain about the intake process. Vanessa and Heather say that the women were not really even searched. Heather complains about the COs a lot. Vanessa has a whole lot to tell about the COs as well. The sheriff is pissed. Donovan and Tony have some positive things to say. I’m feeling Vanessa’s bright blue pumps and I am not even a shoe person.

The Reunion
I didn’t even recognize Ashley. I think she has put on some weight or something. But they start with Dennis. Dennis is still Dennis. They film the reunion before the show airs so Dennis really doesn’t get how he was portrayed. The only person really interested in this segment other than Dennis is Shanese. They’d make the perfect obnoxious couple.
Next we talk to Ashley. She cries watching her segment. It’s the part where the CO took all of her clothes and left her naked and beat on metal all night so they could not sleep. Ashley is still a police officer. She says she has more compassion for the drug addicts she encounters.

Alex gets treated like crap by Tony. I just realized, I don’t think that Donovan is there. I hope he is okay. Oh wait, Donovan is phase two. Duh. My brain is mush. Alex is visibly uncomfortable watching his segment. I feel so sorry for him. He shared some very personal things with production and now he is seeing them played back in front of the group. Dennis was kind of nice to Alex. Tony is condescending. Alex gets pissed. At least Chief Peek is kind to Alex.

Tony Is So Judgmental
Then they bring out Matt and Jacob. Two guys that tapped out way early. It’s kind of rude that they were not allowed out there with everyone else. Matt is way cuter at the reunion than he was in jail. IJS. I’d hit it. Jacob is up next. He is the one who tapped during intake. Tony chastises him for taking a spot that could have gone to someone else.

Next we cover the blow up between Shanese and Jennifer. Shanese had three heads of hair on her head is and all glammed up. But she is about to go HAM on Jennifer. She says she wanted to beat the brakes off of her in there. Jennifer is amused by that comment. Are we going to have a Real Housewives moment here? Shanese is as hostile as ever. Dennis taking up for Shanese makes me think those two have already hooked up. Then Shanese kind of freaks out when everyone finds out that she peed for Angel so she could get released. The sheriffs didn’t know this nor did Ashley and Jennifer. Oh Ashley did know. So Jennifer probably did too.
To be continued next week on Part Two of the reunion where the phase two participants will reunite as well.
I didn’t know the reunion episode aired. I thought it was on Fridays. I’ll watch it today.
There is still one more.
I’ve watched only the first of the two episodes you recapped here; I’ll try to watch the other tomorrow. But for now, I don’t understand why Tony is worried he might catch charges for real. I thought part of their mission — approved by the sheriff — is that they are supposed to try to get shanks, drugs, whatever in there so they can learn who/how it is done. You can’t tell the participants, “Try to get drugs, but if you do, you’ll be charged.” Well, maybe it is like how undercover officers can do only so much. I’m curious about the legality of all of that.
I cannot WAIT for next week.
I felt sorry for Alex watching his segment. He lasted longer than anyone (including me) thought he would. I was glad to see Dennis stop being so “Dennis” and have some compassion towards him.
It was cute when Alex joked, “ I was pretty much the pod boss by the time I left,” and they all laughed together.
My heart goes out to him and it hurt so bad to watch his segment. Very glad the officer was able to say Alex contributed in a way no one else had. He’s so innocent. Glad he didn’t have a confrontation with an inmate.
I can’t with that complainer Shaniese threatening to out Ashley & Jennifer cuz she wanted to go home! I’m not sure how Ashley didn’t beat her ass, cuz I would have. What the hell did she think she was signing up for— it’s jail! The COs have 100 inmates fighting, doing drugs, and wanting to hurt or kill them but yeah their priority is your gluten free meals. Dunbass.
In the second group didn’t one guy tap out in the car ride before getting to the jail? Wait until they meet him!
Shanese wanted so much attention from Ashley and Jennifer but becoming friends and relying on each other was not the purpose of being in there. And nothing makes me more annoyed than the fact that she was going to blow their cover over it.
It’s Also comical that Dennis offered his two cents and thinks they should have helped her with her medical issues. He wouldn’t even shake Alex’s hand or acknowledge his existence in there. He kept his autonomy and distance from him.
I agree with SD above. If there is a possibility they could legally be arrested for having shanks or drugs then that should be fully addressed and discourage right from the get go. If they are able to obtain these illegal items then they should turn them over to the production crew as they go along. There is video footage of them having these things. Isn’t that evidence? Could they be arrested now? Could Shanese have charges brought against her for peeing in a cup for Angel?
I can’t wait until Part 2. Is it tonight?
Honestly, Alex did pretty good. I mean, he lasted longer than two other participants and he didn’t have any serious issues during his stay. Idk, I think he should be proud. This was definitely one of the best seasons. And when Tony does his classic laugh, I just love him ?
I was looking for a new show to marathon watch and came across this one on Hulu. I didn’t know what I would think – and then wound up watching all of the seasons in a matter of days. I can’t even tell you how happy I was when I found that you recapped this show as well. I know I’m very late to the party but after every episode, I would come here to read your recaps and read the other comments. I hope we get a seventh season.
I love 60 Days too. However, if you watch the seasons going forward, you’ll notice in the later seasons that the inmates were starting to suspect that the show was filming. So, it became expected by some of the inmates and that made things kind of dangerous. I think that’s the only reason the shows stopped. Perhaps they will come back later. It was a great series.
