Hey, it’s Cho and I’m back with another Survivor Recap! I want to thank everyone from last week who showed me such support with my new website and blog. I’m looking forward to adding more content, but don’t worry, Tamara has EXCLUSIVE rights to all of my Cho Does Home Reno content! If you’re like me and can barely remember last week’s Survivor 40 Recap because it was such a blur, read my recap here!
The Best Family Reward Challenge!
We waste no time getting to the family reward challenge. It’s so early this season. Everyone freaks out in tears from pure surprise! Kim’s husband and 3 children are allowed to visit, and I instantly know this will be the best family reward in 40 seasons! Basically, everyone gets to have their WHOLE family visit! This is intense. I just noticed that Ben has a tramp stamp. He’d get along with Leah. All the kids are super shy to be on the island in front of all these cameras. They have to be traumatized by seeing their starving parents in absolute tears. So many tears and emotions. Fiji Airways gets a cute sponsorship shoutout as the reason why everyone’s families were flown out.
Jeff then makes this HUGE announcement that there won’t actually be a challenge, because all the families are going back to camp! Everyone gets a huge feast, and their kids are all so cute. This episode is exactly what I think everyone needed. More good news: the Edge of Extinction contestants also get to have their loved ones visit. Everyone is in tears but are so happy to escape the game for a few seconds to have their family on the island. I don’t think I could spend such a significant amount of time away from my partner. I envy those with the ability to be able to do stuff like that! What about you?!
Tony’s Bulletproof Vest
Okay, so the episode is halfway over, so let’s quickly get to the immunity challenge where they have to stack blocks on a balance. It’s one of those classic high pressure challenges where people can suddenly lose all their progress. Jeremy loses a lot of progress while Kim, Tyson and Nick take the lead. Kim loses her lead! This is giving me anxiety. Everyone that was in the lead is now restarting except for Tony and Ben. Tony places his final letter on the table, but can he make it back without dropping?
Tony wins immunity and is shocked that he won a game all about patience! Ha! He says that his game is fast and sloppy. He’s now waiting for people to come to him with plans. Jeremy approaches him about splitting up Sarah and Sophie but gets shut down and is upset that he doesn’t have a voice. Sarah then tells Tony that she thinks Kim should be the next out, because she has so many people in her back pocket. They get into an argument, because they’re both hotheads. Sarah tells him to touch base with the boys.
The War Is Back On
Jeremy sits down with Kim and says that they have to stick together with Tyson. All three of them are now relying on each other especially when Kim says that she has an idol that she’s willing to play for her crew which now includes Denise and Michele. Tony notices that Jeremy is behaving squirrely so he shifts the target squarely onto Jeremy. Whatever happened to that “big boys alliance”? My my things change quickly, huh?! Jeremy also reminds us about his advantage and whether he should play it tonight. Oh but wait, Sarah also has a potential advantage to play. If you hadn’t noticed, the war is officially back on!
Right off the bat, whispering begins to occur at tribal council. Tony exclaims how happy he is to have a bulletproof vest on with immunity while others can potentially get blindsided with idols and advantages in their pocket. We get a long montage of tribal council being pure insanity. Jeff can’t even get a question out without people continuing to strategize.
Jinx! You Owe Me a Soda
Right as it’s time to vote, BOTH SARAH AND JEREMY SAY”JEFF!”! Then, they get into a battle of encouraging the other to play their advantage first. WOW! I truly laughed out loud at this moment. Now, they both are refusing to play their advantage. Obviously, whoever plays theirs first is going to have the disadvantage since they can’t react to new information. Jeff says it’s time to vote and they both jinx each other again. Another stand still happens. Finally, Jeremy plays his advantage which causes him to immediately exit tribal council: he’s safe but can’t vote with his allies. Now everyone is squirming for a backup vote since Jeremy was obviously going home.
Sophie then literally says that the 5 in the majority should just step aside and decide who they’re voting for in private! Wow this is awkward for the 4 people getting ready to be blindsided. The jury laments the realized fact that Jeremy just literally abandoned his crew who are now in the minority and sitting ducks. Kim panics that they need to figure out who they’re voting for so that she can give them her idol. Sarah then plays her steal-a-vote advantage on Denise maybe as a red herring to flush out an idol?! It’s FINALLY fucking time to vote.
Another Shocking End to Tribal Council
Jeff tallies the votes, and Kim pulls her idol out to play… on Denise! Girl, YOU IN DANGER! Sarah originally wanted her out, and she’s going to get what she wants. Jeff reads the votes: Denise, Denise, Sophie, Sophie, Tyson, Tyson, Tyson, and Tyson is voted out. Kim feels awful for Tyson. Sarah & Sophie are running big time game on their fellow contestants! Masterful move by them. And y’all thought this episode would be all lovey dovey to the end, huh? Let’s discuss: did Jeremy make the right move? Would he have been voted out had he not used his advantage? Was it smart for Kim to use her idol tonight? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section!
