Too Much On TV Tonight

April 15, 2020 by tamaratattles 113 Comments

ut ohI am not mentally well. I can barely figure out how to record everything for tonight across two TVs and DVRs. We’ve got the best season of Survivor ever. The premiere of RHOBH that I already know I can’t recap tonight because my brain is not working and I am also going blind and can’t find any of the three thousand readers in this house. The Challenge is my favorite thing to watch on Saturday, which is my only “day off” and it has to tape in the bedroom now. And The Masked Singer is also taping in the bedroom. I am sure there is more that I have forgotten, like Summer House.

OH OH OH! ATTENTION CHO AND KELLY and anyone else who needs to contact me. For now, I am using Tamaratattles2 on the GEE mail. Hopefully that is a temporary email.

I probably will NOT recap RHOBH tonight. I’m doing a lot of rocking back and forth and crying and stuff. I’ll get through this. It just feels like my lifeline to the world has been taken away from me. I’m all kinds of fucked up at the moment. Thanks for sticking around and feel free to use comments as an open forum to chat.

My 88 year old mother in law was just taken to the ER. Please say a prayer for her. Like in the last 15 minutes.

I had to let my cable turn off because I refuse to pay $270 to Comcast Xfinity while my husband and I are both unemployed. Streaming services only (I still have internet).

No cable but internet. I will not be watching the RHOBH.

    Tequila.

None of our immediate family will be every to go to my MIL.

OMGosh, that is what I pay Comcast too. My son went with me to the store to turn in my boxes for new boxes and they said I would get a lower bill, but I think it’s like $6 less. I don’t go out much or to the movies, so I figure it’s the price of entertainment. But they are thieves.

I’ll look into the Fire Stick right now. I have Amazon Prime. We also have a Roku. Is the fire stick different?

It is.The Fire Stick comes standard with voice control allowing you to search, launch apps and control playback (fast-forward, pause, etc.) via voice, but Fire TV also lets you do everything Alexa does, including control smart-home devices, get a weather report and answer questions, complete with on-screen results. Alexa’s voice also talks back through the TV’s speakers.

If you have an Alexa speaker like an Echo Dot, you can do pretty much everything hands-free on Fire TV (no remote required) with standard Alexa commands. Say “Alexa, watch Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and Fire TV launches Bravo and starts playing the show.

The last time I went to the Publix and had a full on meltdown, I bought these peanuts that were very out of my price range. I am a tightwad unless I think I am dying and need $500 worth of wine. But I was panicked and wearing the mask and gloves for the first time when no one else was. So I had “nuts” on the list and randomly grabbed this expensive bag of peanuts that was like honey maple or some weird shit. They were delicious. I wish I still had some. Just random thoughts.

Speaking of random thoughts, Nanette talked to me for like seven or eight hours straight yesterday as I drank and cried. Oh and when she had to feed her zoo, I talked to her roommate. I may or may not have proposed and made plans for us to move to Ireland. I done tole y’all I am losing my mind.

A destination wedding … that will be a good way to celebrate when things are “normal” again. We can invite Kristen. I was disappointed that Masked Singer isn’t doing a contest but a singalong — until I thought of you and Banjo singing. Best laugh of the day.

The best/cheapest way I know to get to Ireland is to fly Air Iceland out of Dulles to Dublin with a FREE stopover in Reykjavik & you should be able to get a cheap flight from Atlanta to Dulles. It used to be a 5 day layover, but may just be 4 days now. Buy your booze for the stopover in the lovely airport & be sure to bring a swim suit for a visit the Blue Lagoon. Yes, it is touristy, but lovely & warm & no one will look at you. I usually pay about $599 for a ticket depending on the time of year. You can also get to Ireland for the same price on a 3 week transatlantic repositioning cruise in the spring for the same price, but the drinks will cost you the same as your ticket (though if you research there are pretty good smuggling methods via Amazon) & cruise ships have been petri dishes for years now. I think once I took Air Iceland to Edinburgh, Scotland & then somehow got to the Harry Potter train to a ferry to Northern Ireland (but do not do that on Eleventh Night like I accidentally did because that is when the Northern Islanders riot big time the next day because of a 17th century battle, but the music they play then is really rousing & made me want to pick up a sword & ride a horse into the fray, & people die even today, but if you did it on some other day I am sure you could get to where your wanted to go in not-Northern Ireland from there.

Me, too! I think my record was $89 each way Dulthles to London during a price war, then got up at 3 am & took the Chunnel to Paris. It was a surprise trip for elder granddaughter & totally worth it. She knew we were going to England, but not Paris until we were on the plane & gave her a French phrase book. She’d been going to college with two babies & totally deserved her final year Spring Break treat. She recently turned 40 & just sent us homemade facemarks along with a lengthy handwritten letter thanking me for teaching her to sew when she was in elementary school. Her own eldest daughter is set to graduate college (a year early) next year. A couple of years ago she started teaching her youngest daughter, along with her ex-husband’s daughter, how to sew on the sewing machines I bought them for their birthdays. One of the best things about living long is getting to see things traditions like this passed on. My own grandmother had taught me to sew doll clothes on her treadle machine in the 1950’s, & had bought me my first sewing machine in 1962.

I went to Target to do some field research because no one answers questions on the phone nowadays. Only a couple of the employees were wearing masks. Only about 10% of the shoppers wore masks. I wear a mask only to not add to the anxiety of others and so Cindy (aka THE fiancée) won’t worry. I was SHOCKED because EVERY PERSON working and shopping at a Trader Joe’s have been wearing masks for weeks. In my 5-10 minutes inside, I met an employee who was off the clock who answered my cell-phone questions, a guy who works at a holistic healing center dispensing natural remedies, and a cashier who also is on keto. He hadn’t tried Two Good yogurt, a must for ketoers who like yogurt. Cindy always teases me for talking to strangers, but there are SO MANY INTERESTING PEOPLE everywhere that I can’t stop.

In one of my many major malfunctions with Nanette, I made a mad dash to the ghetto store with mask and gloves IN MY OLD MAN PAJAMAS and my favorite dude who greets me with GOOD MORNING no matter the time of day was like WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN WE ARE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS WITHOUT YOU! lol

Being quarantined is not that stressful to me, had six years taking care of my father for practice. What IS stressful is living in this motherfucking lame ass state of Pennsylvania where I can’t buy LIQUOR!!!

Delaware, Maryland and Jersey are pulling people with PA plates and fining them. Ohio has also just shut out western PA. Not sure of NY but I’ll be hitting the highway with my gloves and N95 mask if I think there’s a chance they are willing to sell to us. Booze stores in normal states are small businesses, no? Shouldn’t aI be able to support them???

The Liquor Control Board claims to now offer online ordering. What they “offer” is randomized ordering and I know of NOT ONE PERSON who has gotten through. I can only drink so much wine or beer, Donger need Tequila!

Through this entire pandemic, this is the most dumbassery fuckery that has happened.

Does your governor expect to ever get re-elected? Let’s purposely put people on the highway and send them to other states to buy things.

I’m sorry you guys are having to go through this.

All of the Chandon sparkling wines are so good. Can’t beat the value.

When I used to drink, my everyday fave was the Chandon Blanc de Noir. This was when “Rose” was considered a dirty word — it’s pink from the skins of Pinot Noir grapes, left in just long enough to tint the wine.
Schramsberg Brut, Korbel Natural for dry sparklers. And Toad Hollow Risqué for a sweeter one — and the best label. Joue Perrier Fleur de Champagne (I think it’s now called Belle Époque) is another sweetish with the prettiest bottle. I miss drinking those.

I’ll leave the Dom and Cristal for those who don’t mind paying too much. They are good, but I woukd get just as good for less $$$.

Speaking of overpriced… Dorit’s hideous Cha Nel double-visor straw hat. I bet Coco and Karl would die a second death if they could see some of the “Emperor Has New Clothes” crap bearing the name. Some people will buy anything if it has a certain logo on it. Even if it’s ugly.

I am pretty envious of anyone that has a vice right now. I am 100% sober and only can take Zoloft right now and it is pretty low dose. Pregnancy nausea has made me a worthless human being who can barely work from home and not even able to do basic chores so I feel like a slob. All of this world problems plus first trimester anxiety and reduced doctors appointment so I can’t even check on the baby is driving me crazy.

Enjoy your drinks and have an extra one for me!

I’m not watching TV any more, at least not for now. Maybe I’ll break down again and binge some Netflix, but I’m so afraid of turning the living room TV on and catching any of the White House shitshow on MSNBC or CNN for a few seconds. Also, I’ve been done with the talking heads and the rest of the “bread and circus” infotainment nonsense.

I usually don’t do this on Wednesday, but I opened one of my bottles of $8 Trader Joe’s wine tonight. It’s surprisingly good: An Alexander Valley (Sonoma) Chardonnay with nice lemon and mineral notes. At the very least, this should do until the fancier stuff (that I ordered online over a week ago) arrives on Friday.

I tried listening to hard stuff earlier this week, so I’m taking it easy tonight with comedy podcasts and ranting sessions with y’all over here. Is it awful to plot for an extended “self-care weekend”?

I say go for it! I also am avoiding the news. It is just a repeat. I check on my local and state government official announcements to see if there is any changes to restrictions and that is it.
I have been listening to mainly podcasts during work and also watching documentaries that are more from the past or about certain events. I watched McMillions which was all about 2001 fraud case so it was removed enough from now.

I will recap RHOBH for you. Kyle had a fashion show where she dressed Eric Flipping Jayne in the frumpiest outfit I have ever seen on any woman ever. Kyle’s clothing line had a common theme, flowing caftan type material, badly cut and hideous. When Lisa Rinna has the best runway walk of anyone this is no real fashion show but instead an expensive vanity project. Well Dorit had a runway strut too. She and Lisa looked great but not because the outfits did them any favors but instead because those two have bodies that just don’t look bad in anything. Sutton is too stuck up for all of us, Teddy is pregnant and the castigation of Denise has been foreshadowed.

Kyle Richards and fashion do not belong in the same sentence. Instead of investing in a fashion line or clothing boutique she should put a million dollars cash in the passenger seat of one of her fancy convertibles and drive down Santa Monica Blvd until all of the money blows out.

Oh yeah and Garcelle appeared, she is pretty.

That line is what Carmen Miranda would design if she was stoned and watching the Golden Girls. Definitely frumpy but also they didn’t seem cohesive – Dorit’s outfit and the seashell top thingy. Didn’t make sense. And why would anyone that follows the Hiltons like any of that ‘line’

I wonder if Kyle has very limited equity ownership, if any. I think it is a licensing entity and she just gets a portion of sales like a lot of the other housewives vanity projects. I asked my husband why Kyle was showing a line at NYFW that looked more appropriate for Boca or Palm Springs. I bet the designer was from one of the original lines that drew Kyle to Alene boutique (in Boca) years ago.

I would totally follow along in my own convertible while money falls From Kyle’s car. MsCarlyTX, thank you for an immediate recap fix. That is some real TamaraTattles teamwork right there.

I still haven’t watched the episode but I am AND ALWAYS BE TEAM KYLE and I love her boho riche style. She is probably my favorite hw ever AND, a long, long, time ago, something happened and Kyle and her sister Kathy REACHED OUT TO ME! And that was kind of amazing. Kathy wanted to call me and I just couldn’t do it. I really don’t like phone (Cindy and Nannette will tell you I really do like phone but it’s just them) But anyway, I feel like I know them personally. I’ve chatted publicly with Kyle about books to read a few times. You are never going to make me not like them.

So sorry if I gave the wrong impression with my comments on Kyle’s line. I was just making analysis of the looks, especially in contrast to the majority of NYFW. I did not intend to seem judgy. She was my favorite RHOBH from day one and is still part of my tippy top favorite HW of all time. I even watched the American Woman show. I liked it and was disappointed it got cut.

I think it is tres cool that Kathy called you, and I am sure both women are very gracious and genteel in a southern kind of way. Their mama raised them like that, and the showed cemented that feeling for me.

I don’t consider licensing one’s name to a product as a negative at all. In fact, I think it is a crazy smart financial move. I do think most HW businesses are more of an “in name only” type thing. I don’t blame them one bit for cashing the checks while other people do the work. In fact, it is Mr. Wonderful’s preferred method of investing into Shark Tank businesses. He loves licensing deals.

There are clothes in the line I would buy now and wear in my current life, but I expect the cost is higher than I would be willing to pay. If/when I retire to FL, there are of bunch of them I would wear. While there were shades of Palm Springs in the line, my opinion has always been that the fabrics are more luxe between and the distinguishing factor between Boca and Palm Springs style.

I am pretty sure I was next to New Friend Brett? at the Drybar near Times square a couple months ago.
My ears were alert for the tea! 🌱
I think Kyle had some great ideas and beautiful pieces…just needs some editing.
It’s her first season for the love of Pete! 🤣
Rinna left it on the floor!
I loved Teddy chanting to herself “Be better than Kyle’s impression in Province”
    The lives these ladies lead.
I am so grateful for Bravo’s keyhole to fantasy…before, during and after this time of cholera.
And to T T for breaking it down and keeping it real.
