Survivor Recap: This Is Where The Battle Begins

Survivor RecapBy Guest Correspondent Cho

Hey, it’s Cho and I’m back with another Survivor Recap! This episode is all about the merge, so I won’t waste any time getting right to it! We start off on the Edge of Extinction, and everyone gets the news that they need to fight to get back into the game. Natalie has saved up enough tokens to buy an advantage as well as an idol. Boston Rob has enough to buy an idol but is gifted Amber’s tokens in order to also buy an advantage in the challenge. Who’s making it back in, Natalie or Boston Rob? I would like either of them to be honest.

Surviving the Edge of Extinction

Jeff tells everyone to drop their buffs, because it’s the merge. Then, he brings in the players who will battle it out to get back into the game. He ends up having some emotional conversations with several of them. The challenge is simple. They have to navigate a small course and then traverse a ball up through a snake track. Tyson and Rob are out in the lead but the others aren’t far behind. Parvati, Yul and Amber have to dig for their keys while the others use their advantages to skip this section of the challenge.

Next. everyone has to build a stick long enough to grab their keys. Boston Rob gets his first! Then, he is off to work on navigating a ball over a  snake puzzle.  Lots of people struggle and drop their ball. The music is fucking intense during this challenge! My heart is racing! I want Natalie to get back in! Tyson is so close to finishing! This is so close between him and Rob oh my god! Tyson wins by a hair! I guess the peanut butter helped? Jokes are also made about Sandra not having a chance. I don’t blame her for quitting. Wait, did I hear Jeff say that everyone is on the jury?! Okay, maybe Sandra did miss out on extra appearance fees?!

The Queen Slayer

Everyone gets back to camp to find the merge feast which looks amazing. I had my own little feast recently. Prices for advantages in the game have increased. I imagine peanut butter especially. Sarah says that everyone left is a lion, but we’re about to find out who has the biggest mane. I like Sarah. She’s definitely a force to be reckoned with in this game.

We’re led to Denise who tells her story about what happened with Sandra. Everyone calls her the ‘Queen Slayer’ which is great if you’re on Day 39, but not so much right now at the start of the merge. Not good. Sophie remarks that at this point, Denise is the only one that has an overly impressive resume which is alright with her, because it makes Denise a target. Anything in this game will make you a target.

Survivor RecapThings Are Getting Slippery

We’re reminded that these players are in a jungle with huge thunderstorms and nonstop rain.  Tyson jokes that he’s waiting for one of the rich people to buy a tarp with their fire tokens. Ha! Despite everyone being huddled up, there’s still whispering occurring. Denise’s name is being thrown around nonstop after her flashy move of taking Sandra out.

Sophie all but breaks down at Jeff asking how she’s doing in the rain. Everyone is literally shaking. There’s a lot up for grabs: immunity and a fire token for one woman and man. Michelle falls really hard to the point where Jeff asks if she needs to see medical. Adam is out soon after, and helps Michelle limp away to the Sandra bench. Now everyone is dropping like flies! Denise, Kim and surprisingly Sophie are fighting for the men. Ben, Jeremy and Nick are still in for the guys. I need Denise to win this, and she does! Jeremy and Nick have an extended showdown, but Jeremy succeeds!

The Big Boy Threat Alliance

No one hesitates to start scheming on who should leave. The big boy threat alliance of Tyson, Jeremy, Ben and Tony deliberate on who should leave first. They want the “sleeper” winners like Adam, Nick, Michele, Sophie etc taken out first. Jeremy has ulterior motives for taking Nick out as he wants Wendell all to himself as a secure ally of his. Tony calls Nick a hyena and likens him to a scavenger in the game! Wow that was some shade! Ben also takes a dump on Nick by saying he’s annoying and butts into everyone’s conversations at the worst times. A lot of animosity is directed towards Nick right now. We get editorial scenes of Nick doing exactly this to hammer home their point.

Click Here For More Survivor Recaps!

Nick says Adam is the easy vote to make since everyone that has had anything to say about him has said that he can’t be trusted. Adam is a snake. Ben talks to Adam and Sophie, and Sophie makes the case that Wendell should leave first because Adam is more likely to work with her. She also surmised correctly that the big boy alliance has come together with Jeremy being its core. Everyone has ulterior motives! She notices that Jeremy and Wendell have become super tight, so she’s pushing the target on Wendell instead to make a play against Jeremy. This pisses Jeremy off to the point where he makes a counter push to suddenly target Adam. Even Denise has kind of jumped ship saying her Day 1 alliance with Adam might not be a Day 39 alliance. Adam cries in a confessional.

Survivor RecapTribal Council

Everyone explains why Tyson isn’t as easy of a target this time around now that he’s back in the game. Wendell and Denise say that this is a defining moment in the game. The conversation goes towards that of paranoia and how you need to relax sometime in order to build trust. Sarah says in past seasons you could see the punch coming, but now people are getting sniped left and right. I’m not quite sure who’s getting sniped myself. Nick, Wendell or Adam?! Jeff reads the votes: Adam, Wendell, Adam, Adam, Wendell, Wendell, Wendell, Wendell, Wendell, and Wendell is voted out! He deserved that blindside. He gives his fire tokens to Michele and Nick.

This was an excellent merge episode that had me on the edge of my seat. I’m firmly rooting for Denise to win the game, and I’m excited to see who else emerges as a favorite of mine. Were you happy to see Tyson re-enter the game? What are your thoughts on the alliances that are shaping up? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section! I can’t wait to hear what everyone has to say about the merge episode. It’s a big one.

” I guess the peanut butter helped? ” Padawan learns so much this season! I was happy for Tyson. My eyes might have even leaked a bit because of all the pollen. But I was pulling for Natalie.

I knew when Rob (who can suddenly do challenges this season) didn’t win that there would be as many battlebacks as needed until he was back in the game.

Did asshole Wendall say “I Love You” when he put the token in Michelle’s box? I rewound it three times and could not be sure what he said.

The “big boy alliance” are idiots. They should be voting out people (like Wendall) who are bigger threats with fewer allies. Jeremy tried to save Wendell for his one alliance with him.

I feel like the women are taking over this game and I love it.

Denise is a beast and in good position to win. AT LEAST FOR NOW. She is going to have to beast through some immunity challenges though.

I forgot all about Tyson having a chance at getting back in, but I wasn’t mad when he accomplished it. I concede the point to you re the peanut butter. Tamara 394942 points this season. Cho 0. ARE YOU FUCKING HAPPY?! I’m gonna get SOMETHING right this season I promise you. LOL

I need Denise to go on an immunity streak, because people are going to come after her all because she took Sandra out. I want her to be the new queen of Survivor. Sophie is also really impressive.

Cho- Great recap, I really wanted Boston Rob back in the game. I like watching him manipulate the game without breaking a sweat in front of the others yet in his confessionals he admits when he is unsure or worried. Jeremy and Yul look so good. Yule abs are something else.

Why is every one still on extinction island? Will there be another challenge to allow someone back? Jeff said something about another chance? but I missed it and don’t have a DVR where I am .

There’s going to be one more opportunity to come back from EoE. And everyone on it is now a jury member.

I enjoy Rob and his wagonload of confidence. Hope there is another battle back and he goes back in.

I felt Sandra lost some of her reputation this game, always sitting out of challenges and opting out at the end instead of trying Extinction Island

I also think Sandra took a hit to her reputation, but I’m still team Sandra 100%. She knows her capabilities. She took her appearance fee, didn’t win the money and pretty much had no chance of getting back in. I would have quit too. She doesn’t have anything else to prove.

The only thing I’m mad about his not being able to see her on my screen any more.

Did anyone else notice that shivering Sophie magically had more clothes on when she was on the pole during the challenge?
I laughed so hard at the edits of Nick joining conversations! I would have never picked up on that otherwise.
Adam said multiple times that he was scared- and he does seem totally scared.

I think someone probably gave her their clothes for the challenge.

I would have never noticed that about Nick either, but I totally believe he’s super annoying in that way. needy.

Adam is a scared little rat. He’s kind of growing on me. Just a bit though. He’s actually kinda cute! lol

they all looked so freezing! I didnt see Sophia’s extra clothes? Did she get them from another competitor or from production because she was getting hypothermia. Cant be that.
I just never had a big opinion of Tyson one way or another. I so wanted Rob to win that challenge! I am very interested as to what the EOE people will need to do next time.

I really wanted Rob back in the game, but my fear is that he would have caused such a stir and potentially been voted right back out. Then again, he would have come in with an idol which omg I just remember TYSON HAS AN IDOL! Ok that’s interesting!

I don’t like Ben and I don’t know or remember why. He just grates on me. Why doesn’t anyone target him?

The Edge comeback challenge had me on the edge of my seat and my eyes squeezed shut. It must be the isolation lol? I didn’t realize how much I was rooting for Boston Rob til now. And TT, my first thought was yes Jeff is going to do challenges until he’s back!

Will the jury be huge or what?

Funny, I feel the same about Ben.
I think for me, it is because I really did think production helped him win more than any other.
Now, at that time I am pretty sure I didn’t like whoever was left in the game as much as him. I remember wanting him to win, but then it seemed so staged.
So, in my case, I feel like that is why I don’t like him too much…..But I remember liking him in his season. That doesn’t make much sense!
I guess I think he was an undeserving winner??

Ben’s win was totally interfered with for the sake of story telling. I haven’t seen a more robbed contestant than Chrissy in FOREVER. Not only was she instrumental in sending most players home that season but she also won like 5 immunity challenges, which is the RECORD for women competing in Survivor. Did I mention that she’s 46. For an “older” woman on Survivor to kick so much fucking ass then have the win taken from her at the end. I was BEYOND pissed and still am to this fucking day.

And I have to try to keep myself in check, because Ben himself is sort of likable. It’s not HIS fault that production rigged the game for him, but it’s definitely tarnished his legacy and also has created a personal bias in my mind against him. It’s unfortunate.

He grates on your nerves, because he’s an actual idiot that only won his season due to OBVIOUS production interference and rigging, No one is targeting him, because he’s not actually a threat physically, strategically or socially. His strongest attribute in the game is winning challenges, and he hasn’t really performed well this season.

The jury is going to be SO huge.

People love to hate on Rob, but really he’s kind of a lovable villain. He tries so hard, because he loves his family and wants to provide for them.

How does Ben keep sliding under the radar when he is in on most of the shenanigans of deciding targets? When is there going to be a target on his back? I was so happy to see Denise win. I think she was the easy target and she hung on for dear life because of it.

I can’t stand Ben even being on this season. His mere existence reminds me of how badly Chrissy was robbed of being the rightful winner of their season.

Denise is the best. I love her so much. Had she not won, I would totally expected her to have left.
