Survivor RecapBy Guest Correspondent Cho

Hey, it’s Cho and I’m back with another Survivor 40 Recap! I know the energy in the universe is weird right now, but I implore you to not let mass hysteria take over your life and emotions. Take a deep breath and chat with the community here about how you’re coping! Alternatively, you can follow the instructions in the description of this video to really indulge in some deep relaxation during these gloomy times. Now let’s get into tonight’s episode, because it’s a double boot, and I’m sure we have lots to recap!

Ben and Adam are celebrating their freedom without Boston Rob in the game anymore. Ben says he didn’t feel respected, so that’s why Rob had to leave. He says he’s grown closer to both Sarah and Sophie. Adam is now feeling nervous and the odd man out. Well, no shit. I warned last week that things would be bad for one of the two boys. Adam is having regrets about his stupid fucking move to take Rob out.

The poker alliance?

Poor Money Management

On the Edge of Extinction, we see that they have another challenge for fire tokens. Tyson ends up covertly finding the clue and revealing that he’s found an idol nullifier. Naturally, he gifts it to Parvati who obviously buys it. Tyson decides to actually purchase something from the menu with his fire token: peanut butter. Tyson has been a huge strategic disappointment, but he’s delivering in the entertainment department. He should know that those menu items are a distraction for what they will really be used for which is to get back in the game. At least that’s my speculation. What do you think?

The tribes have to basically race to complete a ball maze, and only one tribe will win immunity this time! Sandra sits out on the Sandra bench, while Michele sits out for her team. Retrieving the bags seems harder than it looks, because they’re so hard to maneuver. Sele is the lead but Dakal is not far behind. Everyone looks absolutely exhausted from doing these really mundane tasks. Nick gets the first ball for Sele, but Sophie gets one for Yara! Adam then gets another for Yara which sets Sophie up for the 3rd. Adam needs her to win this. Wendell gets the 2nd ball for Sele, but Sophie ends up closing it for Yara!

Wendell vs Parvati

On Sele, it’s obvious that Parvati is dead in the water. Nick feels bad that he’s feeling forced to vote against his Survivor crush, but his closest allies are Yul and Wendell who desperately want her out of the game. Michele doesn’t have much hope for her to survive, but she wants to capitalize off Parvati leaving by attempting to get her fire token on the way out. She proposes to Wendell that she vote for him as a means to appear loyal to Parvati. Wendell obviously doesn’t take this well and they get into a lovers, er ex-lovers quarrel?! Like last week, this scene is EXTREMELY awkward! Michele is pissed that she’s trying to move forward with Wendell but he still doesn’t trust her.

Wendell starts getting cocky and demands that Parvati give her fire token to him in order to have him vote however she wants him to vote. Parvati EATS THIS SHIT UP IMMEDIATELY and throws him under the bus to Nick. Nick is now rattled. Or is he just rekindling his old flames for Parvati. He starts to recognize that Parvati is a visible threat while Wendell is an undercover threat. We’ve got our swing-vote right here!

Survivor 40 DakalSpyshacks & Paranoia

On Dakal, Tony is paranoid, so he retreats to his homemade FBI shack in order to spy on the others. You read that correctly. When I think Tony couldn’t get any more ridiculous, he proves me wrong, which is why I love him so much! Sandra answers Jeremy truthfully when she says she’ll probably stay Dakal strong, but Jeremy lets us know that he has an advantage that he could potentially use in self-defense.

Denise, Sandra and Kim end up having a girls conversation where Denise pleads her case. Sandra is very direct, honest and almost a bit cocky with how she interacts with Denise. Denise has her idol in her pocket and is ready to burn it if she has to, but would rather not. She offers to vote Jeremy off and stay in the game anyway she can. Their conversation doesn’t go far, because Tony is STILL missing. Sandra, having played the game 3 times and won twice ain’t not fucking dummy!

Survior RecapThe Greedy Queen

Sandra tells the rest of the tribe to be careful where they talk, because Tony probably has a spy shack built somewhere in the jungle! Everyone is now worried about Tony scrambling so much when his name isn’t even on the chopping block! He finally comes out and is chastised by Kim for causing everyone to wonder where he was for so long. Tony then demands that Denise be voted out, because he’s afraid all the bigger threats are going home too soon. They reel Jeremy in, and it’s a done deal.

Not so fast! Sandra has never left money on a table in her life and sees an opportunity. She approaches Denise and offers her an immunity idol in exchange for Denise’s 2 fire tokens! Aww this could be messy considering Denise already has her own immunity idol!! Don’t be greedy Sandra! She tells Denise that her name is going to be written down by everyone.

Denise does some negotiating and tells Sandra that she’ll give her one token as a downpayment and then the other token later when she knows it’s real. The gag is that Denise doesn’t NEED Sandra’s idol at all, and if Sandra doesn’t cast a stray vote, Denise actually has the power to vote anyone off this tribe she wants! One of Tony or Sandra are definitely out tonight with the way this circus show is shaping up to be!

Survivor RecapSele’s Tribal Council

Wendell says this is the season of preexisting relationships. Obviously, this is mostly in reference to Michele. He says he’s willing to stab anyone in the back and the front, because he knows he can shake their hands after the game. Nick says that strategy can work for the more modern players, but some of the older school players may not subscribe to that philosophy. Michele also says her approach will be different from Wendell’s.

Wendell’s taking a beating this tribal council. He gets defensive and says that people need to appreciate his honesty. Everyone calls out the obvious tension between Michele and Wendell. Wendell says he kept it real with Parvati and told her she didn’t have a shot. Parvati then exposes Wendell for the double dealer that he claimed he hasn’t been yet, and he interrupts her!

Wendell, you’re being a douche. Jeff calls him out, and Wendell says again that he’ll vote with Parvati if she gives him a token. They both try posturing by not giving a name to each other. I don’t know why Yul and Nick haven’t lost complete trust in Wendell at this moment. Wendell is openly bargaining with the person that Yul and Nick want to vote out. This is going to be an ugly. Jeff reads the votes: Parvati, Wendell, Wendell, Parvati, and Parvati is voted out. Parvati gives her token to Michele obviously.

Dakal’s Tribal Council

The next circus show is rolled into tribal council. Kim says this game is about the threats vs non-threats. Sandra calls Denise out on being one of those non-threats. Denise retaliates that everyone is a threat in their own way and at different times throughout the game. Jeremy and Denise both make their cases to the other three why they should be kept.

Jeremy and Denise both feel really nervous about their positions in the game. We waste no time getting to the vote. Denise plays the immunity that Sandra gave her. She then plays her OTHER immunity on Jeremy!!! Now that is how you build loyalty! Sandra’s smirk is wiped off her face. Jeff reads the votes: Denise, Denise, Denise, Denise and Sandra is blindsided!

Denise single-handedly took out the Queen of Survivor. Denise said y’all better put some RESPECT on her name! I really hate that the old-school players are all being voted off. The big legends are dropping like flies, but tonight’s episode was one to remember! What did you think of Denise’s epic move? And Michele and Wendell’s dysfunctional relationship? I have watched this episode at least three times. I am drinking my way through this insanity and I am defiantly killing brain cells. But no matter how drunk a may are may not be, Cho is always wrong. OF COURSE Tyson should have bought the peanut butter. I need to have Tyson fully strong and ready to fight for this.

I also love that the big dogs are FINALLY being voted out. You go Denise. You can win this whole thing,

I haven’t laughed this hard reading something in a long time. Love you auntie!!

Denise IS the big dog now. Everyone better watch out. I was losing faith in her, but this move has put her on the map in a big way. I’m rooting for her.

They really have taken out all the OG power players! Denise is playing hard, I just worry that might put a target on her sooner rather than later. And Tyson absolutely should have his PB!

      Greatest season EVER!

Meh.Please email me with such things. We are talking about Survivor here. I don’t even miss Sandra. I am team Denise and I don’t even remember her season. Rob and Sandra seem to think they are owed this.

And ALWAYS BUY THE PEANUT BUTTER.

Tyson was smart to buy the PB, they are nearing merge and the fight will be on to get back in the game. That protein gives him a huge advantage! Denise is a therapist, she lays low and sees everything. I knew she was going to vote out Sandra and loved it! Wendell was a dick the last time he played too but this time they are showing his total arrogance, hope he is next out. Adam is a dead man walking, they all know he was playing both sides and will not trust him. What a great season!

I would watch full episodes of “Threat Island.” The OG’s are who I want to see. If they had live feeds like Big Brother….

I want to evict Wendell with a swift kick to the shins.

Tony is the sitcom character we all need. I hope he stays as long as possible. I laughed so hard at his spy shack I cried.

I screamed in joy at Sandra’s blindside. She rode the bench. She was cocky. I love how Denise took her down.

We’re all Tyson right now, alone eating peanut butter.

Cho- Great recap. I just have to say how good Jeremy and Yul looked coming out of the ocean during the challenge. Denise made a huge power move. I think a lot of the cast are afraid to go after Sandra because she will retaliate. However, Sandra has to get back in the game first. I don’t see that happening. She has sat out of too many challenges and has no momentum to drive her forward. I also think being outplayed is going to hit her ego hard. I wouldn’t be surprised if she makes an excuse to leave extinction. I hope all of you and your families are staying healthy.

This week’s episode was great! Unlike last week ‘s episode which I found pretty underwhelming.
I’m bummed to see parv out. There was a twinkle in her eye that just told me she had a lot of exciting game in her… Now I’ll never know lol.
Though I do believe Nick made the right move for his game… Those girls weren’t ever going to be loyal to him , and i d venture to say Wendell sees Nick and yul as his sheep..so will probably hold on to them for as long as he can ( Which gives them the opportunity to blindside him) Plus as loudly as he is playing, he will no doubt be a target sooner or later.( Thus a good shield)

As far as Denise and Sandra… They really made this episode ‘one for the books’.
    But here is my two cents on their gameplay;
Many may not agree, but I think this is the most strategic I’ve seen Sandra play.. And it was a good move on her part ( despite not paying off). Had it worked, she would have made good use of an idol she had no use for, and she wouldve been 2 fire tokens richer, and have some trust with Denise. Yeah, she probably would of been at denise’s mercy ( since Denise would of had an extra idol).. But even then, Kim would be the next logical choice .

As far as Denise… I think she just kissed the title and 2 million bye bye , in exchange for the title of queen slayer or ‘ new queen of survivor ‘ that many are giving her ( Which I don’t really agree with ).
I truly don’t think it was a good move for her game.
Like I mentioned above, the tribe would of been hers had she kept Sandra .. And wouldn’t have been so high profile ( Which is something you never want to be, even more so this season).
Which is why I can’t call her the new survivor queen. It made GREAT tv… Just don’t think it was very smart.
That being said, I do remember hearing back in the day, that when Kelly Wentworth made that huge idol play ( on her second season )… That everyone was so impressed by it that it made them want to play with her … And she did make it to 4th place that season .. So maybe it could have the same effect for Denise? Who knows… It’ll be interesting to see how it works out for her.

Thanks, Cho! Survivor was honestly the highlight of my week. I am a Senior self isolated within our home due to cardiac issues. I was furious last week when Rob went – he has always been my guy. I was so so tired of The Queen. She sat out as many challenges as allowed so never used strength or energy. The only thing she could do was backstab, lie and mislead. Her ego was out of control. But Denise was brilliant and the self-titled Queen got the beautifully played blindside she so richly deserved. Denise, keep going!! I just feel badly for all of those on Extinction now stuck with Sandra. She said early in the game she was mad at Rob for something she made up in her head. Please. If she has to do anything physical, she will be stuck between her greed and her laziness.
Best to you, Cho, and to all. Love ya, TT!
