60 Days In Recap: Special Ops

March 16, 2020 by tamaratattles 14 Comments

60 Days In RecapHey y’all I hope everyone is staying inside and self quarantining. I am going to be on a weird schedule because I am already having disrupted sleep. Which means I was up before dawn today and am ready to go back to bed. But first, I am going to knock out a quick 60 Days In recap. I thought were were going to get another season but it seems we are just getting this “special ops episode” where everyone undercover is a trained professional of sorts. The sheriff has sad he is has implemented basic common sense like searching the inmates before they lock them up. Because, apparently, they needed a TV show for that. They also trained their employees and gave them mace and tasers. Again, genius.

We have two males and two females going in a few months later. And Tony who has an over inflated ego. He literally thinks he is the pod boss. Tony is going to challenge the officers this time. Tony thinks he is a TV star. He did everything poor Dennis wanted to do.

It’s going down this road in Women’s pod… sigh

Women’s Pod

Heather is a bad ass. She’s an MMA fighter. She plans to use her sexuality to get intel. The male sheriffs still treat her like a “little lady.” It’s weird. She could probably kick their asses. The intake for the women has problems. She’s already appalled by the jail and she’s not even in the pod yet. I love Heather. I hope we don’t see Ciara still in there. Last season, I tried to look her up with no last name and nothing came up. So, I am hoping she is safe somewhere.

I can’t believe that people are trying to talk shit to Heather. This is going to be fun.

Men’s Pod

Did I mention Tony is full of himself? Good Lord. First he picks his own cell. And the CO just lets him. The the white kid makes him right away. I love it. He intimidates his way out of that for now. Oh it looks like we do get a whole season of this. Yes!

I love Pony Tail. I missed his name. Holy shit! What just happened? The cops taking him to jail pull over, call him out of the van where there are camera and give him a handcuff key. WTF? He is super nervous they will find the key on him. They find it in his shoe while he is in the shower. They put him in a solitary holding cell. He may be fucked.

This season, things seem even worse if that is possible. WTF have they done the last two months? On of the female inmates is made right away. Jesus. Heather is gonna hook up in there. Damn. Pony Tail realizes that Tony has gone to the dark side.

OMG this is going to be GREAT!!!!! Re Tony… getting so cocky yet, he needs to see how far he can push it to get additional results so I’m going to assume he’s doing so for a reason…… hopefuly….

The sheriff and warden just give off sexist vibes. I don’t know why they bothered having women in there at all if they’re just going to pat them on the head and ignore everything they tell them.

Shanae was anoying, but she highlighted a serious issue with healthcare. I don’t think people realise how serious celiac is – people can actually die from it in rare cases. I felt like everyone rolled their eyes and discounted it as a minor inconvenience, but it’s an actual disease. As she said, she lost the ability to have children because of it, it’s no wonder she freaked out. The crew should definitely have made sure she at least had a doctor’s note when she went in there.

Ashley gave them all kinds of information and it wasn’t really her fault she got caught out. She slipped up with how she handled poor Ciara (saving her life and all when the CO couldn’t be bothered) and saying that thing about the oath, but she did have a backstory of being in the military so at the time it probably made sense to her to say that in the heat of the moment.

Jennifer was mainly worried about demons, bless her heart, but I’m sure she also gave them a lot of info. I feel like those debriefing sessions were either kept deliberately short by the sheriff or they didn’t show the full story.

Besides all of that, just having them in there and the film of what went on is surely useful. I was so f*cked off that they dunked on all the previous participants to the new participants. Possibly a tactic to make them more determined, but I’m not sure I give the sheriff and Pief Cheek that much credit.

All that being said, thank you so much for these recaps, Tamara, I’m a binge watcher so I just caught up but I pause between each episode to read them!

Yes to everything you said here! Many times over the seasons when the the exit interviews are done it seems that most of the wardens don’t really want to here about inmate abuses or the COs inability to do their jobs.I got that impression quit a bit with this warden and Jennifer. I know they don’t show all of the info given by the participants but there is no way that Ashely didn’t give them a wealth of info. She got a CO fired for torturing the inmates and saved another inmate because the CO just wouldn’t. Somehow Tony became the star in the wardens eyes because he told them they had a drug problem, the booking process was a mess, and the COs didn’t have enough equipment on their belts. Considering Ashley also has worked in corrections I doubt she didn’t much if that up with the warden. Someone should point out that anyone in position of authority should have been able to reconcile that by walking through the jail or looking at their employees.

Shanae should have also been an eye opener to the warden since she was basically being starved to death due to lack of proper healthcare.

This new group looks interesting. I am loving Heather already and the guy with the handcuff keys especially since he already has figured out Tony.

Crazy good! Something to look forward to as we self-quarantine. I know you have done this before, TT, but maybe a post to recommend shows to binge watch. I need some. I just did Outlander. I have all the premium movie channels (forced into it when we moved because Cox Cable sux), Amazon and Netflix. We cancelled Hulu because it just wasn’t worth it. I haven’t really been watching Bravo, just reading your recaps which are better than the show itself. I feel so useless like I need to volunteer with handing out the school lunches, etc. but am almost 63 with controlled hypertension and they say that is a big nope. So any suggestions would be welcome.

I just watched A Discovery of Witches which I found kind of similar to Outlander with a Twilightish supernatural twist. You might like that if you can stand vampires and witches!

Well if you haven’t done it already binge all the Killing Ever episodes on BBC America. Pay for them if you have too. You won’t regret it.

If you have Showtime you can binge Homeland. This is the final season and I have not had time to watch yet.

WORK IN PROGRESS on Showtime is HILARIOUS. I am totally the lead person. This is a MUCH TOO SHORT series. I ADORE THIS SHOW.

Also The L Word Generation Q is very good. I went back and watch all the L word shows from whenever and wherever that aired before watching. This show has A LOT of lesbian sex. It happens a lot at the beginning of the episodes. I found it shocking at first. But after a couple of episodes, it’s just another sex scene. And the show is not about the sex but it is about lesbians and I loved it. Don’t get freaked out by the sex, it kind of comes and goes and it’s not about the sex. 🙂 ask me again later and I may have more.

Listen to TT when she says watch Killing Eve. If you have to take home equity loan to pay for it DO IT. And do it NOW because season three is almost here.

Oh and Ozark (Netflix) is pretty good too and also starting season three soon.

I’ve said it many times but here’s a reminder: Wentworth on Netflix is outstanding!

And loving these new recruits going in, especially Ponytail ?

thank you for all of the recommendations! One of my jobs just closed, and I am per diem so I will go broke while quarantined. I am very excited about getting another season, (sort of) and I was amazed how I went form almost liking Tony again to pretty much hating him. Work in Progress, I got it!

IDK why they’re already trying to make Tony look like he’s gone dark side/Darth Vader status. The man works in an ATLANTA jail, which houses some of the most dangerous men in the country. The sheriff asked him for intel and Tony straight up told him he was going to test his guards and the new systems put in place. He can’t afford to go in there and be anything other than an inmate with some clout. I don’t like that they’re putting him in a bad light. I think he’s pretty proud of himself from phase I, but then again, they DID bring him in and beg him to save the program. I’m on his side until he does something really out of the way or outrageous.
