Happy Dr. Seuss Day!

March 2, 2020 by tamaratattles 60 Comments

I wanted to let my Below Deck Sailing Yacht readers know that I am going to recap it tomorrow or late tonight due to scheduling issues. I also keep meaning to get something up for the new season of Before the 90 days. So that is my main reason for this post.

But, it is Dr. Seuss Day today. And that was my favorite teaching day of the year when I taught second grade. I think a lot of you have a favorite Dr Seuss quote if you want to share in comments. The quote in the photo above is very relevant to out times. So please vote!

When I taught older kids, I gave them a copy of Oh! The Places You’ll Go! for graduation gifts. It’s literally a guide to life for everyone.

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.

That quote is sort of my life’s motto. I’m looking forward to steering in new directions in a few years. Share your favorite Seuss quotes in comments! You are never too old for Dr. Seuss! And you can go off topic in comments if you’d like. For example, I ALMOST bought a tomato plant today. They’re here!

Every hall in my son’s was decorated to look like the background of a Dr. Suess book. I can’t believe the amount of time and work all the staff put in to make the school look so amazing. And it is a public school! I wish I could share pictures because it would make you so happy.

Also, the first book I ever read was Green Eggs and Ham. I was a very picky eater as a kid in the 80’s, but I always eggs and ham.

I can also recite the first few pages of the Cat in the Hat at any time from memory. Some kids today have never heard of it! So sad…..

One of my favorite Halloween costumes ever was Cat In the Hat. I was 42. I spoke in rhyme all day. I won some prizes. Gave three guys (that I know of) a boner. It was a blast.

My favorite Halloween was in San Francisco in ’86. I was a pregnant smoking nun. Damn I had so much fun that night! I love San Francisco sooo much. I know it’s changed over the years but I still love her beyond reason and everyone who knows me has strict instructions to make sure I’m in her Bay forever when I’m ashes.

Okay, full disclosure, I once dressed up on Halloween as Pandora’s “BOX” (completely anatomically correct and hand sewn) for a Halloween party for the hospital. Clearly that was many years ago. I can’t imagine doing that today!

I always enjoyed reading Wacky Wednesday to my kids and I also give Oh The Places You’ll Go as graduation gifts! ?

“i meant what i said and said what i meant” – for all the snowflakes out there who think only their opinions matter and unless you agree, then you are wrong and is attacked for having your own mind.

on another note: we got out of italy right in time! it was bittersweet because it was fairly easy to sightsee and eat at places that are otherwise very hard to dine at without months ahead reservations but obviously sad because everyone is scared to travel – which is awful.

let us all vote and let us all pray that our future changes for the better soon!

    stay safe everyone.

btw, thanks for posting Dr. Seuss i have learned a lot from him!

Not really a Dr. Suess quote but last year after a 15 year addiction my son welcomed a new baby girl. She was about a week old and he was reading her a couple dr. Suess books…he comes downstairs and goes Hey Mom Dr Suess was an addict, there is no way he wasn’t, dude is tripping and making millions and started busting out laughing. I always loved One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

The person who you think is going to make a difference is not the person I think will. My opinion is not favored around here, but that’s okay. Trump and Biden will both get down and dirty, two of a kind and those debates will go down in shameful history. And please don’t come for me. My mind has been made up for years and I’ve already voted.

I’m not coming for anyone who votes. But Biden and Trump could not be more opposite. We just don’t need to go from megalomaniac to socialism. We’ve had enough uproar for a while. I could survive Warren but Bernie will be a disaster. That said, if Bernie wins the nomination, I will vote for him. I won’t like it. But I’ll do it just like I held my nose and voted for Hillary. Whoever you support is better than Trump. We just all have to support whoever wins. Trump is not an option.

Agree, but Biden is a loose cannon. Beside him and Trump I’ve never seen anyone flat out attack potential voters. And I hope he doesn’t bring back Obama care because that was a disaster. “Free” healthcare with higher tax rates is still cheaper than paying $500-$2000 a month depending on age, with outrageous deductibles and oop maximums.

I hate Obama Care too. I can’t afford it and I think I FINALLY can stop paying the Poor Penalty this year. Still won’t have healthcare but I will won’t have to pay for not having it.

I think you will end up being very shocked at how much taxes will go up under Bernie. Prepare for your taxes to double or triple in exchange for all the free things. I will not be able to afford to live her.

I’ve never seen Biden attack anyone. The Bernie Bros on Twitter are just horrible thought. Same for the Russian Bernie Bots. But I feel like Bernie will not get us all killed as I prepare to seek better options for me.

Believe me, I have issues with Biden as well. He has a whole lot of senior moments. I hope if he is elected he has a really good VP. I wish it could be Pete (my first choice) but I think he will choose a female just to choose a female and not because she is read to assume the presidency.

Look at us talking about politics with neither of us having an aneurysm! lol.

I live in Minnesota..my taxes are already sky high. I’d much rather have them go toward healthcare and college for everyone than bike lanes and whatever else they mismanage here.

The Bernie Bros and Bots are not Bernie. He didn’t call anyone old or fat in person because they challenged him. He did campaign for Hillary, though, I went and saw him when he came here and I’m sure he will do the same for Biden. He pleaded with people to not vote for Trump when I went to his rally.

He’s actually one of the most likely to get Trump out of the office. Did like Buttigieg but that isn’t going to happen.

Ok y’all, I have a question! So, one of my kids is still on my phone plan. All kids have registered to vote in their respective states. The one who is on my phone plan WAS registered in Oklahoma but has since moved and registered in DC. NONE are Bernie fans because, smart. Anyway, I’ve started getting texts from Oklahoma numbers and other unknown area codes which I thought were like robo-calls addressing me by kids’ names and pushing the Bernie movement. Mind you, not all are even on my plan. I’m not on any social media. I started replying with funny bitchy replies thinking that the replies were going into the abyss bc I figured they were robo-texts. I got replies from humans! Lol! But my question is this happening to anyone else? Is this legal? How are they getting MY number and addressing to my adult children’s names? Did they hack Verizon? It’s weirding me out and if anyone has answers please let me know! The only replies I get is they apologize and say they’ll take me off my their list but none will answer when I ask how they got my number.

Sorry TT. It’s implied open forum and this is freaky.

Sorry I honestly didn’t mean to imply anyone was stupid but reading it back well yeah it does. APOLOGIES TO ALL! I don’t have much of an electronic leash other than my phone and I’m the technology stupid one. It’s evidently not just Bernie campaign as I just found out of others getting the same stuff from other campaigns. I just don’t get how they got the phone number of account holders and how they can do that at all hours of day and night. I mean all voter registration is through the mail and doesn’t have cell phone numbers on it. IDGI
