Update: Pop Smoke was on Instgram riding around in a car with a friend who had HUGE stacks of cash in his hand. Also he received a gift bag from someone that he posted on IG that clearly showed his address. Looks like LA bandits to me.
Rapper “Pop Smoke” was shot and killed on Wednesday morning in a home owned by Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave in the 2000 block of Hercules Drive in the Hollywood Hills. The $2.5-million home was a rental property managed by a property management company.
Investigators suspect that the home was targeted as part of an ongoing rash of home invasions and burglaries in the LA area involving celebrities.
Teddi Mellencamp posted the following statement on Instagram:
“Early this am we were informed by a 3rd party leasing and management company overseeing a rental home we own in Los Angeles that a shooting had taken place at the property. Foremost, we would like to extend our prayers and condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss of life.”
“We aren’t aware of any of the details beyond what we’ve been told or seen reported on the news and at this time we would like to refrain from commenting further as we wish for the focus to remain on the law enforcement officers who are diligently doing their jobs.”
According to LA Times. “Last month, a federal grand jury indicted the rapper on a count of transporting a stolen vehicle across state lines. Prosecutors in New York alleged in court documents that Pop Smoke stole a $375,000 Rolls Royce Wraith in Los Angeles. It was later found at his mother’s home in New York.” He was planning to start a tour next month.
Pop Smoke was twenty years old.
How horrible.
This is so sad, he was only 20!!!!! May he rest in peace!
The huge angry part of me wants to rail against guns and violence but this isn’t the forum and no ty to the WLS- so sorry for those affected by this horrible loss. We can do better people
There are some very serious crime rings in LA. A lot of them are from foreign countries. Anyone who shows what they’ve got or if they are leaving town are at risk here especially on social media.
What are you actually trying to say here? Does it start with ‘build that’ and end with ‘wall’ by any chance?
I don’t know about Cheryle but I am all for building the wall. I am for strong borders. I am not for caging children (many are still caged btw) and would likely not be there had we secured our borders DECADES ago.
That said I did not and will never vote for Trump. But I do hope the next president understands the importance of secure borders JUST LIKE EVERY SINGLE OTHER COUNTRY in the world.
Thank you for your bipartisanship. As someone who has ms-13 victims popping up in parking lots and in ditches in my neck of the woods, I’m shocked how many people are honkey dorey people are about not knowing who is being let in. Unfortunately, I’m from the land of bail reform where pimps, gang members, peeping Toms, bank robbers and repeat offenders are all set free so my tax dollars can pay for them to be re-arrested within days of the original arrest, so I’m slightly biased. But frankly, I don’t see the safety of our citizens as a political issue, it should be guaranteed from both political parties above getting votes and sounding politically correct.
There are crime rings here from other foreign countries that have settled here that may not have come up from the border but are taking advantage of the wealth here.
I took Cheryl’s comment to mean “don’t post pics of your valuables on SM OR posts making clear when your house will be empty.” Don’t draw burglars’ attention. Common sense.
I wonder if he was an intended target or he just fought back against the burglars and that’s why it ended with a death. Just wondering because most home invasions/burglaries don’t result in a fatality.
I thought I posted this in comments but it looks like I didn’t take it. “During a hearing in the case in Brooklyn last month, a federal prosecutor said the government believed that Pop Smoke was a member of a street gang affiliated with the Crips, according to a court transcript.”
You did post it but it got posted in the Vanderpump item.
That must also be where my comment is about Pop Smoke and a buddy posting a photo on IG of them driving around with HUGE stacks of cash. And around that time Pop Smoke opened some sort of gift bag and posted a photo of the bag that had him holding a tag with his name and address on it. So I am back to thinking it was part of that mob of burglars that is targeting celebrity houses in LA.
Celebs need to learn to be more careful with what they post.
Apparently a cctv shows it as a hit. Guy kills the dude and leaves, taking nothing.
Yep, sounding like it was a gang related hit.
I’ve read that TMZ reported it a mere hour and half or so after Pop Smoke’s last tweet. There is NO FUCKING WAY that all of his relatives were notified. They did the same thing with Kobe Bryant’s death. They are vile.
