I hope everyone is ready for their weekly dose of Vitamin D with your favorite Summer House recap! If anyone missed last week’s episode, please click here to catch up. We pick up where we left off last week with Carl and Lindsay trying to figure out what is going on between them. They are “best friends” who like each other but don’t want to ruin the friendship. Perhaps Scheana Shay can give them advice on dating a best friend? They decide to leave it as “friends with the potential for more.” Surprisingly, when they get back to the house they sleep in separate rooms. Luke tries to get closer to Hannah but she is turned off by his playing of the guitar whilst singing. Her panties will stay non-dropped for now.
The Crown Jules
The next morning everyone awakes to a breakfast prepared by Jules. As she says, who can be grumpy when bacon is involved? She’s moved up to my top 3 favorites with that sentence alone. (Hannah and Paige, you’ll always be tied for number one). Hannah and Paige discuss Hannah’s dating life. She is attracted to Luke (sans musical instrument) but she really likes Armand, the guy she has been dating for the past 3 months.
As the girls sit around the pool, Jules tells us that she has always felt like an outsider. She came to the U.S from Jordan and only spoke Arabic the earlier part of her life. She didn’t have her first sleepover until she was 13. When Paige compliments Jules’s hair, it means a lot to her. Kyle and Amanda are attending a wedding the following weekend so they won’t be at the Summer House. Jules is visibly relieved that she won’t have to break more furniture as a distraction when Kyle inevitably gets drunk and angry.
New York State Of Mind
Back in the city we meet Armand. We also meet Perry, Paige’s boyfriend. Both are cute. Our girls look very happy with these guys. Kyle is home working on Lover Boy. Their apartment is lovely. He tells us that Amanda hasn’t been doing her part with the launch of Lover Boy. She works a full time job so when she gets home, she just wants to decompress. She literally grabs wine, sits on the couch and turns on Bravo. She’s just like us y’all! Kyle says that she Amanda puts things off and leaves them on the back burner, burning. He is the type that doesn’t leave anything burning. He asks Amanda how she’s going to have a full time job plus children. She says she doesn’t plan on working when she has kids. These two seem so disconnected it’s not even funny.
Still in the city, Lindsay is working from her new office with her new employee. Her business seems to be going well which is great for her. She Facetimes with her Aunt Rhonda who is happy that Carl and Lindsay have hooked up. Lindsay wants marriage and babies so she wants to start getting serious soon. Why she thinks Carl is even near that level, who knows.
We get a little Luke history next. He grew up poor in the midwest. His dad went to jail when he was 11. He was really good at hockey but after an injury, he was no longer able to play. Josh Hartnett’s manager approached Luke about modeling so he moved to New York. I like Luke. He seems humble…so far.
Messin’ With The Vibe
Danielle, Lindsay and Carl drive together to the Hamptons. Lindsay hasn’t told Danielle about the hookup yet. Luke, Hannah, Paige and Jules are already at the house. After hanging out and catching up, Lindsay finally tells Danielle about the hookup. Danielle collapses into laughter. Lindsay, Danielle, and Carl are very close so Danielle doesn’t want it to mess up their vibe. Danielle feels like it’s a bad idea but will be supportive. You know what I’m NOT supportive of, Danielle? Tres Amigas. It didn’t work for RHOC, it’s not working here. Between HubHouse and Tres Amigas, I just can’t.
Downstairs, Paige shows Hannah and Lindsay a Cartier “Love ring” that her boyfriend gave her. Hannah is wary as Perry is older and knows what he wants. Paige is only 26 and may not know what she wants yet.
In New Jersey for her cousin’s wedding, Kyle and Amanda meet up with her parents for lunch. Kyle is nervous to see her parents since they have no wedding plans of their own. Her parents of course ask about their plans. Kyle basically says that Amanda is doing nothing and he needs help planning it. Amanda feels that living together has been so stressful, she doesn’t want to add more stress to their relationship. Amanda’s father sees a lot of Amanda’s mother in her, where he is more like Kyle. That scares Kyle into the realization that he can’t spend his life with someone who isn’t as motivated as he is.
Flirting With Disaster
Back in the Hamptons, the gang goes out for dinner. They are excited about the pool party the next day. Hannah and Luke flirt madly which leads Carl to ask about Armand. Hannah says that they aren’t exclusive. Then, Hannah asks what’s happening with him and Lindsay. Lindsay gets super defensive and talks about having so much pressure. Jules points out to Lindsay that her screaming about it isn’t lessening the pressure. YES JULES! Lindsay wants to go hit the town. After a great night out, Hannah and Luke hang out in the hot tub. Lots of flirting but seemingly nothing happens.
The next day they all get ready for brunch and golf. The girls, minus Hannah, discuss Paige’s relationship. She says that she’s never been more in love. She is going to marry Perry. Lindsay and Danielle don’t buy it. Danielle thinks that Paige is painting this picture of perfection when it’s not realistic. I guess we’ll see. Luke, Carl and Hannah golf. Hannah and Luke flirt which makes Carl bring up Armand of course. Jesus. Luke is single as a pringle. He broke up with his girlfriend which was sad to hear. He bought her an engagement ring. She made him feel like he was never enough and eventually she got physical with him. He is still trying to recover. I really want to hug Luke.
Pool Party Antics
Back at the house the gang prepare for the pool party. These people are all so physically beautiful that I want to barf. Lots of drinking happens. Jules confesses her love to Paige. When Jules drinks I detect a bit of Single White Female towards Paige. Something to keep an eye on. Hannah tells Paige that she doesn’t always have to be perfect. Paige breaks down and says she isn’t sure what she wants to do. Does she want to marry Perry or be 26 and carefree?
Lindsay and Carl finally talk. Lindsay asks Carl straight up if what is happening is real. Carl is afraid that Lindsay doesn’t like him back. She says she does like him so now what? He asks her out on a date. He is relieved to not be rejected. Lindsay is excited about the prospect that Carl may be the one. I am excited to watch this all implode as it surely will.
Next week on Summer House: Kyle and Amanda do not have sex. Like ever. Hannah and Luke flirt. Carl and Lindsay argue. Thank you so much for reading this recap. We had a flu/strep thing here in the zoo so I didn’t get to comment too much last week. We are back to being somewhat human again so I’ll be back there. See you in the comments!
