While I do love recapping Bravo for you guys (no matter how much I bitch about it) I delay watching much better shows to do so. This week is particularly problematic.  So I regret to inform you that I will not be recapping Bravo as quickly as you are used to.

Tonight, is the finale of The Voice. As you know this is Banjo’s favorite show. So the RHOC is going to be pushed back a little bit. Perhaps until tomorrow because I am already drinking today because LAWN KID IS DRIVING ME UP THE DAMN WALL. He doesn’t seem to understand that I too have to work to eat.  Or that I do not have the time to drive him to his work or pick him up. Thus, getting him a bicycle. Also this damn weather keeps giving me a weird cold. So all I really want to do tonight is watch The Voice finale with my dog and perhaps recap the RHOOC finale later tonight or tomorrow.

Please LET ME LIVE, It's Christmas!
Please don’t send me back to jail!

Speaking of tomorrow, Bravo is trying to kill us. For some reason tomorrow we have RHONJ, RHOD, and the RHOC reunion back to back to back. Even if nothing else was on that would be probably kill me to recap.

HOWEVER. It is the three hour finale of Survivor tomorrow. It’s going to be epic.I will not be a good recapper if I have to do that and miss the finale of one of my favorite shows.

So, dear bosses of mine. I regret to inform you that things are going to be late. But I have a whole weekend starting on Friday to get caught up. Apologies in advance. Hope you all understand and can give me this Christmas leave for a couple of days.

Does it help if we make this an open forum? 🙂 What are your last minute Christmas plans like?

xo ~tt

Enjoy yourself and watch what pleases you and Banjo! We’ll amuse ourselves until you’re ready to recap.

Did not know that Banjo loved The Voice, my daughter lives in Cookeville and went to TNTech with Jake Hoot, who sang with Kelly Clarkson last night, the first time a judge sang with a contestant. Apparently, the good people of Cookeville, TN are going crazy for him, and I did watch the streaming last night- he was GOOD.

The final four usually sing with their mentors. Jake was VERY good with Kelly. Literally anyone could win tonight, it’s going to be a very exciting finale. I am rooting for Kate Kalen (I may have the last name a bit wrong. Blake’s guy Rickey is also AMAZING. As is Rose on Team Gwen. This final four is one of the best we have ever had.

They will all be addressing it A LOT. But Dan has been banned from the finale.

Lawn Kid called me at least six times today. He has taken a new job after getting fired from the job he could bike to five or six miles away. Now he works in a city at least a 25 minute Uber away. So he has been calling and texting asking me to take to him work. I feel like he doesn’t get THAT I HAVE A JOB TOO. And I don’t make a shit ton of money over here on my money printing press. It sucks when you can’t just help people without them suddenly having expectations that you are now the sole person who feeds them and their personal driver. I’m done.

I know you will not believe me now, but you will miss these moments with your students when you retire. I once went to a conference and the asshole admin I had at the time was APPALLED with me because they had these little bottled water that were to ME shaped like snowmen. So I fished enough of them out of the trash for an art project. And we read books about snowmen and made little snowmen and wrote stories about snow men. I didn’t care. I was always the weird one noone liked at my job. But my classroom was FUN and my kids always argued about who was my favorite. I told them all they were my favorite and they would argue. lol. At the end of the year I would sign my books with, YOU WERE ALWAYS MY REAL FAVORITE! And of course they all would show each other. But it was true for all of them.

Christmas in Australia means trying to stay cool and sane. At least it looks like only being in the late 90s farenheit wise. Since this is an open forum, can I ask if anyone else thinks Succession is the best scripted television series to come out in years? I’ve watched both seasons through twice now , and it gets BETTER on the second viewing. I rewatched the Fyre Festival doco for the third time just to experience the language of these big business finance and entrepreneur types, because the use of language in Succession is just incredible .It makes me wonder if they brought in a linguist. My sister worked high up in the Murdoch Deathstar and she attests to the verisimilitude of Succession, the toxic work environment and culture. I really hope some of you haven’t seen it because you get to binge on some of the best television outside of reality that I’ve seen for years. If you love New York based shows and property porn, this is for you. And the fashion is also quietly sensational. Apart from Kieran McCulkin and later , Holly Hunter, they’ve pulled this off without resorting to bringing in ‘big names’. Which is often a red flag for desperation. I’d love to hear from anyone else who is in their feelings like I am about this amazing show. And recommendations for other quality television over the holiday season ?

I just finished Ronan Farrow’s book, Catch and Kill about the genesis of the Weinstein story, and its aftermath. My sister the journalist was amazed that I got hold of it because apparently there is an injunction on it here in Australia, which certainly tracks with Farrow’s account of murky powerful people trying to shut down the story at a very high level.

I hope I haven’t sinned, posting all this here. I went with ‘open forum ‘ and TT, here’s another recommendation for those of us getting off or supplementing the Bravo teat!

I will look that up, thank you! I’ve been told that ‘The Loudest Voice in the Room’ is also similar thematically to Succession. I’ll have to get over my distaste for Russell Crowe! Has anyone seen it here? The doco and mini series about the Hearst family (I’m having a brain fart. It might be another of those super wealthy oil families ) where the grandson is kidnapped and ransomed by what became the Calabrian mafia, the one I saw first has Donald Sutherland as the patriarch. Those were quite riveting also. Hillary Swank played the mother of the kidnapped boy? Keep the suggestions and recommendations coming. I just want to get into aircon and binge watch good tv.

I want to write a book about Geoffrey Bawa who was a brilliant architect who built some amazing hotels across SE Asia and Sri Lanka. The Kandalama hotel near Sigriya was incredibly gorgeous when I stayed there over 10 years ago now, and I would love to visit Bawa’s amazing home, Lununganga, with its statues, and sculptures and beautiful tropical gardens. And Africa . I’d love to revisit. Next on the bucket list, sadly, is Bravocon! Because New York . And like minds, and I’ve never been to your neck of the woods . A girl can dream.

But I feel sorry for international visitors who have no idea just how hot and humid this place gets in January! Not to mention the poor players. Christmas here is about trying to stay cool, calm and collected. We’re eating prawns (shrimp) and oysters. Nothing hot . And if I can work up the motivation, I’ll make sorbets. Coconut and lime and pineapple. Possibly a mango one also. We’ve given up on puddings and roast meats , etc. It’s just too hot. Anyway. Bravocon sounded like a lot of fun, and I would love to get to the next one. I’d love to meet ‘my people ‘. I read a great article abouts it. They should invite bloggers and podcasters. Because reading here and listening to Crappens etc have become part of the experience for me , and Bravo should recognize that next time around.

Ohhh, all-time favorite movie thread! Mine is “Friendly Persuasion” with Gary Cooper & Dorothy McGuire. (Trivia: the author of the book, Jessamyn West, was cousin to Richard Nixon, & she couldn’t stand him. Family was Quaker.) First saw it in a movie theater in 1956 & have re-watched it every opportunity ever since. Still holds up as if it was made this year. Get it & enjoy for the holidays. Second all-time fave is “The Lion in Winter” (1968) starring Katherine Hepburn. Oh, the dialogue! (It was originally a play.) I’ll watch it over & over just for Hepburn’s one line, “Oh, well, every family has its ups & downs.” Another film perfect for the holidays, as it takes place over Christmas in 1186 as King Henry II (Peter O’Toole) allows imprisoned wife Eleanor of Aquitaine parole to join the family, including future kings John & Richard the Lionhearted, + his mistress, for the holidays. Delicious! Who needs Bravo when you can have rich stuff like this, actually based on history–more reality than Bravo!

Oh, Marc, it is an early Christmas miracle to “see” you! Have the VERY BEST Christmas ever.

I may attempt midnight mass this year. Last time, I fell asleep. Since childhood, I sit nearest the Holy Communion aisle so I can see all the shoes! Surely, a sin. XOXOX.

I have Apple Tv for Servant
    Prime video for Mrs. Maisel
Tlc to go for 90 day (the app shows it earlier)
    Shudder for Channel Zero seasons
NBC for Amy poehlar n Nick offermans show Making It (a craft reality show)
Netflix for a lot but right now true crime shows/doc, and then my regular cable tv shows. Yes our “tv” bill is like a car payment, but I’m so far in the rabbit hole it’s just easier to have it all than to cancel it.
Ok I had a point when I started this, but I can’t remember it.

I have no Christmas plans except for dinner Xmas Eve with my siblings and it’s a glorious feeling. My sister complains my brothers and I have sucked the spirit out of her. I think, secretly, she likes the no pressure. I’m burrowed down in my home with 6 inches of snow outside. Fortunately, I cool with being along for weeks at a time. I’m embroiled in watching the impeachment hearings , every day, all day. I’m downtrodden at the thought of the direction our Country is going in. However, I’m old and have no children, so that is somewhat comforting.

Tamara, I can save you the effort of recapping …

The title should be: How Many Stupid Cunts Does It Take to Make RHOC?

    BEST LINES
Someone at buffet: Oh how pretty. Green salad.
Tamra to Shannon: WHAAAATTTT! Is your hair on fire? Is your hair on fire?
Eddie to Tamra: Don’t drink too much. Please…

Kelly Dodd is not to blame for Bellino lawsuit. The two idiots who flapped their jibs are at fault.

Gina and Matt do NOT get back together.

Shane fails the bar so Emily will not be doing naked cartwheels at her neighbors’ doors.

For the immediate future, I am binge watching The Crown. I got a free month membership from Netflix which expires on the 28th December. I will then cancel it as I don’t think much of Netflix. I am loving The Crown. One of the best things I have seen in a long time. So don’t fret about the recaps. I am way behind as well. Merry Christmas TT and many thanks for all you do. xx

Ugh. I just want the holidays to be over. Christmas is my favorite time of year but my mom who I’ve been estranged from for 5 years had a stroke on sat and has an aneurism in her brain. I dont even know how to feel right now. I’m going to see her on fri. Just scared and anxious. She was abusive to me my whole childhood but I guess I have to do what’s right and be there. I have a 6 year old who needs Christmas and a dog that I cant leave overnight because hes a dick and nobody can watch him so I have to make it a day trip. I’ve been estranged from my sister as well but we made up because of all that’s happening. I guess that’s the only good thing that came out of this whole shit. Just asking for prayers because I’m a basket case right now. Just venting sorry. I hope everyone has a merry christmas.

Jane, I’m not a prayerful person, but I have lots of experience with toxic parents, & a stroke + aneurism doesn’t change your horrid childhood experiences, so make your (thankfully) day trip appearance & whatever arrangements are necessary, then put that part of your life in a sealed box & put it in the deepest darkest back of your closest & don’t bring it out again until after the holidays or circumstances dictate otherwise, whichever comes later. Blood or water, toxic is toxic, & the best advice I can give anyone is to shed toxicity whenever/however ASAP & never look back. It’s survival, baby, no guilt necessary. Ever.

Jane, I hope you don’t beat yourself up for feeling the way you do. Toxic is toxic. MizGrandma says it way more eloquently that I do. Your family is who you CHOOSE.

I will be reporting on the Countess and Friends show some time this weekend. I will annoy you all with copious details, observations, and comments. I kinda don’t care if she doesn’t have that great of a voice because I am in fan girl mode right now. It’s a small venue so while I don’t expect to meet her (free tickets), I do hope to give some finer details about her appearance, the show and so on.

Hi from Australia Debra. I hope you recover quickly and completely. I’ve battled a few bouts of pneumonia this year, and I’m only gradually getting well again. Just be aware that some of the antibiotics prescribed for these types of ailments can REALLY mess with your head! My doctor thankfully warned me , and told me to take a day off them if necessary. Pft, I thought. But omg. He was absolutely correct. Depression, anxiety, all the works and jerks on top of your original illness! At least I could tell myself ‘it’s not the end of the world. It’s just the stupid medication. ‘ and that helped. So, I really feel for you and I understand how tough it is. Especially at this time of year. Be gentle with yourself. Treat yourself if you can. I was on cortisone as well which literally made me want to scarf the entire menu. I discovered this AMAZING lebanese sweet shop, and I would drive half an hour to buy 30 bucks worth of different baklavas and date mahmoul (sp?) . Im going out there tomorrow to get a platter for Christmas at my brother’s place. I wish honey and rose water drenched baklava upon you, poor sick thing. I hope you feel better soon.
Ps I’m still losing the weight but IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!

Are we talking about Jesse’s Girl Rick Springfield? ! How did I not know he is Australian ? Are you sure? Anyway, it’s dinner time here in the humidity, and I have just put the kybosh on the nachos I was going to make. Too humid. I’m going to eat orange and peach for dinner .Being in California , you’re more aware of the cognitive dissonance we get surrounded by ‘white Christmas ‘ stuff. I actually cheered before because I looked up the weather for Christmas Day and it’s supposed to be only 24 Celsius and rainy . That means a cool day, and rain means storms. Some of which are brutal lately. Meanwhile , the rest of the country burns. Last year I had been living offgrid with a Bravo hating narcissist. I’m so relieved to be out of the fire path and hopefully planning to get to Bravocon and see New York and New Orleans . And hopefully meet some of ‘my people’! Btw , the whole 2 year narcissist experience is what broke my health, so take care. I’m trying to meet new healthy people and exorcize myself of whatever attracts creeps. Too old for it. I really hope you feel better, I’m happy to chat anytime. I’m on FB as Jennifer Jackman. Not there much but I respond to messenger. You take care and it’s great we all share this site. Love its quirks .Love that it’s not a democracy!

Sorry if I’m screwing up the love fest but I didn’t know where else to put this. I HATE CBS!! I’m so mad right now I’m seeing red. I recorded the entire Survivor finale and reunion. I was just at the final tribal part where the jury asks questions and THEY BREAK IN WITH IMPEACHMENT NEWS. It goes to next recording and first thing out of Jeff’s mouth names the winner. What the actual fuck? I didn’t record or have option to record extra time SINCE IT WAS PRE-RECORDED & not live. They have been airing impeachment crap on every channel so I’d have to have been under a rock to not know. WHY WOULD THEY INTERRUPT THEIR OWN PROGAM KNOWING IT WAS THE VERY BEST PART OF THE SURVIVOR FINALE?! IDGI. Plus, can’t fast forward on demand so I now have to sit through 3 hours of it AGAIN just to see the part that matters and they already spoiled me with the winner? Oh, and leave it to Trump to fuckup the Survivor finale for me too. I don’t know who I hate more right now…CBS, Trump, or my cable company. I even told my kids sorry, but I need 3 hours of alone time for Survivor finale. I AM SO DAMN MAD!

If you have Comcast, you cannot FF on some things On Demand, but you can “jump” ahead by pushing the Page^ button. You can fine-tune reverse using the << or “jump” back using the Page down arrow button.

So watching it again on demand and they broke in on that version too. Was this a national thing or just my shitty cable company? Evidently it wasn’t enough for them to have the ticker at the bottom during the entire thing but for those that can’t read, they break in and mess up the finale. Ughhhh. And um, yay that he got impeached but does anyone really think it’s going to go through the senate? Duh. It’s Bill Clinton all over again, over much bigger things. Our system is broken because humans thinking they can get around the constitution. Basically it’s all moot so why ya gotta ruin my show, tv people? (That never would’ve happened on The Apprentice. IJS. Lol)

I don’t care so much if they impeach him as much as I want WHATEVER they do make it so he cannot run again.

This country couldn’t afford another election after it was shown to be illegal, but I kept hoping they could stop him from running in 2020. I pray I get my wish.

Tuesday, Bravo is running Vanderpump Rules: S8 – How They Got There AND Shahs of Sunset: First Look 801. I guess that means Shahs FINALLY will start. A few years ago, this double-ender would have thrilled me. The only things Bravo that would thrill me now would be “NeNe Leakes gets the axe.” And, more important, “Mexican Dynasties gets Season 2.” They bring back stupid Don’t Be Tardy (it should be “Don’t Be (Re)Tardy” and leave us wondering about the fate of the best new show.
