RHOC Discussion Thread The Orange Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree

November 12, 2019 by tamaratattles 106 Comments

RHOC recapSorry guys. I am phoning it in tonight. I am spending some time with THE CRAZY. It’s all good. I just don’t have it in me to show up for work today. I hope you all enjoy the show and leave lots of comments anyway.  I just need to keep my stupid ankle elevated. Argh.

Here’s the description of tonight’s episode.

Shannon and Braunwyn help their daughters prepare for college; Tamra attends one of Ryan’s therapy sessions and is devastated by what she learns; Shannon and Tamra get together and hash things out.

I mean what does she learn? That he is a Trump loving psycopath? What more do we need to know about this kid. I doubt this show is good for his mental health.

Also apologies for not starting an open forum over the weekend. I wanted to tell you that one of the neighbors in the hood has already put all of those inflatible Christmas decorations on their front yard. IDGI during the day it is just tons of plastic crap all over their yard. It does look festive at night though. Anyone else already have your Christmas stuff out? I feel like we need to wait until the day After Thanksgiving. Thoughts?

Dammit. I’m so sorry about your ankle.

In my dad’s little corner of OC, his neighbors keep up holiday decorations as long as city officials allow them. But over here, there’s currently nothing.

In this hood, they hang those plastic Easter eggs on trees with no leaves in their front yard. I. Just. Can’t.

Your barrio sounds like my dad’s. Mine, however, tends to be more boring. Maybe there will be a few stickers on the windows and stockings/wreaths on the doors, but that’s all.

A few of the houses in the subdivision across the street have fancier decorations, so maybe they’ll go all in on the holiday cheer. We’ll see.

My neighbors decorate their bushes because that’s what faces the street . They put lights bows wreaths on the bush tops because the fence goes all the way to the top of the bush . They went up Nov 1. I wish I could send you a pic . It’s hilarious. You gotta give them an A for effort but a big fat red F for putting them up Nov 1!!! I like the wooden stakes that are all over Etsy. They last & they are so easy. You just have to buy them out of season to get a good price. I just bought my summer stuff. My neighbors leave their stuff up until mid Feb . My bffs husband calls me Mrs Kravitz. I think he’s right.

Use tent or construction stakes you buy in quantity cheap, you can add length to them in anyway you are comfortable with. Add your decor on to top. I did this for grave markers Halloween years ago, painted grey used black wide markers put R.I.P. or
Tacky but looked great at night

The day after Thanksgiving we put our tree and outdoor lights/decorations up. I’ve seen several around that had them up right after Halloween. I get it, the lights and decorations make people (myself very included!) happy. But I feel like we have to wait for Thanksgiving. It just seems too early otherwise.

I agree. After thanksgiving. I’ll take my stuff down before New Years if I have time & the weather cooperates. It’s freezing in Phila now . My outside stuff may not go up. Last time I took it down in freezing temps the stakes broke. I do love seeing Christmas decorations outside peoples houses.. any holiday decorations really. It makes me happy & gives me ideas. I’m not original or crafty.

Farther down PCH, it’s always fun to see the tree by the beach at Crystal Cove. And even farther down PCH, I’m looking forward to what’s quickly becoming an annual Thanksgiving Weekend tradition of “Small Business Saturday” at Sawdust Winter Fantasy in Laguna.

        Tamra reminds me of…
        Cruella De Vil
        Cruella De Vil
        If she doesn’t scare you
        No evil thing will
        To see her is to
        Take a sudden chill
        Cruella, Cruella De Vil
        The curl of her lips
        The ice in her stare
        All innocent children
        Had better beware
        She’s like a spider waiting
        For the kill
Look out for Cruella De Vil
        At first you think
        Cruella is the devil
        But after time has worn
        Away the shock
        You come to realize
You’ve seen her kind of eyes
        Watching you from underneath
        A rock!
        This vampire bat
        This inhuman beast
She ought to be locked up
        And never released
        The world was such
        A wholesome place until
        Cruella, Cruella De Vil

I’d keep my Christmas stuff up year round, but sadly no one else wants that. Our town does a big Christmas even on the first weekend in December so the city is putting up some of their stuff to be ready. Don’t get me wrong, I do love Christmas, usually…but I don’t know, maybe the fact that I’ve had a child (mine, all mine. Good lord no wonder I’m pooped! And I only had 2! Woopsi!) in my home since 1988 and HAVE to be the sugar plum fairy, far past my prime to be super mom (I ABSOLUTELY LOVE being a G-ma! Best gig ever!) My house will be lovely 2 weeks before Christmas, I’ve always had a “real” tree and leave up until New Years day (or um, later sometimes) so I don’t rush the tree gig, also our home requires furniture removal to properly fit in a tree (poverty with a view out here in the WWWest). Longest run on sentence? Sorry.

My baby turns 18 tomorrow! She’s a senior in HS and really a great kid. I got lucky in my geriatric parenting role to get her, we all did, she’s going to be a good solid member of society soon. BUT, I really don’t want her to pierce her nose! I agreed to all the ear piercings, even got one high on my ear through the cartilage along with her not so long ago but she’s wanted to do her nose forever and I said no. No dice tomorrow, she has an appt at 1530, should I go? Her sister did the exact same thing at the same place while my back was turned…now her piercing is closed up because it didn’t work for her in her profession!

      I think I answered my own question, I’m going…giggle.

Btw, fake tree next year if any, may be traveling instead!

I have my house beautifully decorated for Thanksgiving. It is so damn hard resisting the urge to decorate for Christmas. We bought this 1930 Craftsman bungalow back at the end of August and she is screaming for Christmas decor. I have six foot wide six inch deep mantel to fill. Windows galore and a front porch that needs errrrythang!!!!! Christmas is my jam. TT stay off that damn foot for at least three days. Get that swelling down. Then baby steps.

We fully celebrate Autumn from Sept 1 to Dec 1. From apple cider to pies, picking, leaf shuffling, Halloween, All Saints, All Souls, Veterans, Thanksgiving. Then, Dec 1 starts Advent.

Too early for the commercials to make me feel guilty about not having a huge fancy meal were on all day.
I’m fine day after Christmas for decorating.
I grew up tree being put up Christmas Eve. (a silver one with yellow, blue, red and green lights spinning) Now we debate about it until Christmas Eve, then put it up, lol.
We are very non-traditional and get what we want when we want it regarding gifts.
Grew up mom making home made raviolis, miss those. Things changed i think when dad passed and new husbands arrived. Our world was re-created without warning.
We’ve progressed greatly now with an email to each other. (Because this site gave me the confidence, i kept emailing until I was acknowledged) Now I get emails first, if I don’t email first. Works just great. Actual love given and received authentically. Best gift I could get or give.
P.s. I really admire all who decorate and cook and celebrate. Perhaps if a grandbaby is in the future, celebrating will change. Guess these kids really listened to me about responsible sex!!

I put my Halloween decorations up too early and regretted it.. Nov 1st I was packing it up with aggression!! Now I’m settling for a wreath on the front door that is sort of thanksgiving-y and sort of Christmas-y.. calling it good& I think that’s about all I’ll do.
We’re going to my moms for Christmas, so I’ll leave it up to her to go all out. Since becoming widowed I have found the holidays have hard to get through, so I sort of just put my head in the sand and tell myself it’ll be over soon enough. Slowly it’s getting a little easier each year.

Hate to point this out but PopCultureKelly and Emily both talked about the classless drunks of the OC on 11/12 @5:15 &5:18pm?‍♀️
After Turkey Day if at all. Kids all grown up and out of state doing their own things. Youngest daughter who is 24 with a 3 year old moved in with us and moved from Montana to Arizona with us. Daughter said today “Are we really going to brave a 3 year old with a Christmas tree?” Apparently not lol

As for last night’s episode I am 100% positive that Bravo needs to put an end to this particular RH franchise. I think we’ve seen everything but them killing each other by now. Tired of the SSD Episode. They all gossip about each other, back stab each other, not to mention it’s nearly a XXX show with Tamra and Braunwyn always slobbering all over each other or groping each other. I have lost count now of the number of times Tamra has groped another woman’s breasts. I’m surprised no one has sued her for sexual assault. Tamra’s tagline needs another “F” word added to it because she uses the “F” word like it’s a comma. She’s definitely a Sunday Christian if she is one at all. I could list at least 100 other reasons this travesty of a reality show needs to be put to rest. I truly feel sorry for their kids having to watch their Mothers on National TV acting like drunken fools!

RHOC are dialing it in! Kelly yells, Shannon’s hurt, Tamra has her stank face, I am not sure Gina is even on the same show, she doesn’t fit. Braunwyn is trying to be shocking and too cool at the same time, I have no clue what Vicki is doing this season. These ladies are just lather, rinse repeat.

I was not happy about Eddie’s comment about Ryan. Is every man in Tamra’s life going to run him down? Ryan has a lot of growing up to do but let’s not say crappy things while he struggles.

I was just thinking that no one had mentioned RHOC. I am constantly amazed by Tamra Judge and her way to turn events. How Shannon can ever consider her a friend is beyond me. Plus there was an interview on one of the reality websites where Gina said that her and Tamra are best friends, but she could never tell Tamra a personal thing because she knew Tamra would spread it around. Yep, best friends do that. ? I am about done with this shit show!!!

I stayed up and watched it, and then I almost posted the same thing as you and TT, no one cares about this show. It was indeed a total snooze fest and also just no fun at all.. kinda dark actually.. I recently binged all of the seasons of RHONY and it made me realize how much fun those ladies have even through all the fights, they just know how to laugh at themselves.. that aspect is missing from a lot of these hw shows these days.

Shannon annoys me but deep down she is a good person, just very neurotic. Kelly gets all angry and lashes out when she is hurt, that’s easier for her than to show hurt or sadness. Tamra is just a cunt who plays to each individuals character flaws and exploits them. I hate Tamra so much, and her oldest son is a fucking shit. Simon tried many things with him and he never gave a shit, and all Tamra did was enable his poor choices and blame others for it. She needs to be put out to pasture, she is such a cunt.

Ankle issues suck. I broke mine in a car accident a few years ago. Just take it easy and keep it propped! No decorations until after the turkey has digested. OC was the same old crap. Tamra causing trouble and blame shifting. She called Shannon “calculating” when confronted about the things supposedly said behind Shannon’s back. Shannon may have her faults but I feel she’s too good of a person to be friends with Tamra. The text Tamra sent to Kelly mocking Shannon’s injury wasn’t a nice thing to do if you’re “best friends”’with someone.

I agree with you too! I think Tamra loves stirring the pot. Have you noticed for example when she told Shannon and Vicki that Kelly said she’d rather attend Vicki’s funeral the way she does that surprised did I say that look? She has it perfected, she’s done it for so long. While Tamra is the worst, followed closely by Vicki all of them talk about their supposed best friends behind their backs. It’s disgusting how little respect they have for each other and themselves.

I’m psyched for project runway! So hoping that all stars got cancelled, I just can not do Alyssa Milano. Zac Posen is no longer so hopefully that’s the final nail in the coffin.

On my Xfinity menu, it shows PR Allstars as finishED. Weinstein chose Milano. I would love to see a Bravo PR Allstars or something with some of the alumni — especially if “the people” could vote. With all-new judges and mentor. I am sad about Zac Posen, but they can take away the investment dollars, but no one can take away the talent. That goes on. It looks to me like the big, over-the-top runway days may be beyond their expiration date. Between giving gowns away to “stars” and the economy going up and down, how much is there REALLY to be made from the lines? The NY Times has a great article about the end days of the Posen Empire and a couple of other designers who closed down couture to focus on ready-to-wear and collaboration lines. It has a link to Zac’s faux pas/gaffe back in 2010 when he was getting too big for his fancypants that is pretty good too.

Fun fact: Zac was here at our NM doing a show of his spring/summer line two weeks ago. I bought a handbag that was on sale from last season. Then the news broke literally a few days later. Those who placed orders were notified by email that they would not be filled. I hadn’t even been to NM in years. I happened to go because I was out shopping and they were having a good sale. I peeked at the show (I’m still somehow on the list for invites to some of these things even though I gave up that stuff DECADES ago.) There was a luncheon/tea party in his honor given by one of the local socialites. (No invite to that lol) Glad I picked up a bag on sale as it seems there will be no more… sad.

If I was given a choice I wouldn’t decorate at all. But this is the first Christmas in 15 years my oldest son is clean and sober and in my life. Him and his gf have 5 kids so I’m sure it will be grand kid heaven to decorate Gma’s tree. #6…well I don’t see her much I’m a bad person because I am willing to see that my oldest got clean and sober and has maintained it for 14 months. I haven’t like holidays in 21 years. Just never the same after my Dad passed away. I always bake a ton at Christmas though so it will be cookie heaven in my house with 5 grands helping starting this weekend.

I could not stay awake. These women are constantly changing alliances against one another. Zzzzzzz…

Tamra makes everything about her, even at her son’s therapy session. I can see his side. It does hurt to see the others given opportunities to explore your options and prepare for a life/career of your choosing instead of just paying survival bills. But that is life … we all don’t get what we want handed to us. It’s the stark contrast of “his” Tamra vs. the one the other kids got. Zzzzzzz….

And … gee … Tammy Sue … if you were such a great person, perhaps Sydney would be speaking to you. Zzzzzzzz….

Gina is gross. “Hi-yuh” — the worst hybrid of Valley Girl and “ LonGIsland” dialect ever. Zzzzzzz…

Watching Tamra try to play the victim with Shannon was gross. I wish Shannon wouldn’t skip the Key West trip, but it’s good she knows herself (Dirty Harry would be impressed that she knows her limitations.) Look what happened when LuAnn went back to the “scene of the crime.” I hope Shannon’s daughter Sophie finishes her book. David Beador can’t be all bad to have helped bring up those three lovely daughters.

Andrew will think I’ve lost it when I say I miss Vicki.

What did you think of Eddie’s talking head when he talked about Ryan? He and his wife are very much not on the same page. If Ryan is still harboring resentment about Simon, I imagine those comments are really going to cause a problem within their stepdad/stepson dynamic (assuming there even is one). I also have a really hard time staying interested in this show…

That comment diminished any respect I have for a man who would marry Tamra. Ryan is in dire need of therapy. If we think Tamra is bad now, think of the 13 years he spent while it was just the two of them. I really think she messed up that kid’s head and, as an adult, he is trying to do the best he can. He did not have a good model from any parent. And that WT grandma is no better.

We don’t put Christmas decorations up until after Thanksgiving. Since the weather here is so dry, I like to wait until mid December to put up the tree. Because the tree will dry out, even with daily watering. Crimes, the whole thing is a lot of work, and I dread it.

It pissed me off when Shannon and her daughter were talking about colleges and Shannon was stressing the importance of going to certain college. She said “big difference between junior college and USC”. I didn’t realize Shannon has a career that utilizes her fancy USC degree. I know people that didn’t go to college that are business owners and successful. And I know people that barely graduated college and are millionaires. It is so ironic now how she brags about USC, isn’t it?

I have to say that she seemed totally out of touch in that scene. She is looking at it from the perspective of a rich white lady. Today college at a major university is proving out much of the middle/lower middle class. Thankfully there are so many other avenues to getting a degree. And there are so many viable career paths that do not require a USC degree. I do think that the power of that degree comes from the strong alumni base. That network is beneficial to the people that come out of USC. But that was pretty much the only thing I agreed with in that whole conversation.

This crap about a named college is great if you are passionate about something it’s known for. It’s cool you get accepted but unless you are eager for the education to reach a dream it means very little.
My sons said they would have their kids attend a junior college after seeing the difference in cost and transfer to Univ. after
I don’t watch OC often, was burned out with all the stupid screaming. Preschoolers you can’t discipline.

Tacky is part of Christmas, people are enjoying the season. The classy neighborhoods are out there, beautiful to see the coordinated decorations but are they as joyful?

Something they did not address is that a Community (junior) College is a 2-year degree or certificate. If you are going after a 4-year degree — increasingly 5 years nowadays — you TRANSFER to a 4-year college. It is easier to get in as a junior (a chunky percentage drop out before junior year) and saves a lot of money. Community college gives kids a chance to experiment before they commit to a major/career path, AND NO ONE CARES where you BEGIN your college education. If it DOES matter at all in the real world, it is where you GRADUATE from that they look at, not where you start.

Smart kid! I am in total agreement with this philosophy of Nannete’s. I’m broke bc my kids are at 4yr institutions and in higher education (Med school, grad student). Plus they all have jobs as full time students bc living expenses are so high in college towns. They will also have loans to pay when they all finish. It’s ridiculous. If mine didn’t have a clear path already mapped out, I would have encouraged them to do the same. First two years are the basics anyway and doesn’t matter where they’re done. In hindsight, i wish a couple of mine would’ve have started out this way. Props to your son and you!

My tree goes up at the beginning of December and goes down the first week of January. I live just outside an ancient black & white village in England. Every year, the local parish gives out trees for residents to decorate outside their homes. I can’t tell you how enchanting this is. Most people use blue lights which looks fab against the black & white houses. We have an old covered Market and they put up a big tree there with lots of lights. I think the lighting of the Market tree is around 5th Dec. Tons of people turn out and then it’s into the pub for a drink.
