It’s a rainy night in Georgia. And it has been raining off and on all day. Other than (mostly…kinda) getting caught up on my dish washing, I have gotten anything done all day. It’s six thirty going on o’dark forty five and I am trying to force myself to stay wake until Banjo does his last and most important trip outside.

So what is on your mind today? I’m not looking forward to “falling back” this year. It’s already dark way too early. The good news is that with the exception of Monday it will continue to rain for the foreseeable future. Why is that good news? No trick or treaters or fire works.

I may rally and heat up some chili to eat with a bag of Fritos for dinner. What’s for dinner at your place tonight?

As far as today’s news goes… Kanye West, Thomas Ravenel and Amber Portwood are all a bit unhinged. Especially, Thomas. But, that is not really news is it? Edited because I forgot to add Jim Edmonds to the unhinged list.

If I can stay awake, which seems very unlikely. I may try to find a movie to watch. What are you guys watching tonight?

Oh! And what kind of Halloween costumes are happening at your place? I think I will be a couch potato. 🙂

I’m at Emory with my mom, so I feel you with this weather. I was going to be Stevie Nicks for Halloween, but can’t decide if I want to bother dressing up just to stay home, eat candy and watch Psycho. So it goes.

Dinner is Chick Fil-A Cobb salad. Best salad ever!!!

Sending lots of love. I spent many days and nights in Emory with both of my parents. xo ~tt And YES the food court, particularly Chik Fil A is a Godsend. Also, used to sneak away to a museum near the hospital. It was tiny but tranquil and while I know very little about art it is calming.I want to say it is near the Chik fil A but it’s been a very long time since I was in your shoes.

Raining her today also. Decided to switch out my warm weather clothes to my cold weather. I have many pieces to donate (I usually don’t throw anything away.). It feels good to be somewhat productive while streaming my parts and drawers. Binge watching “Snapped” (mostly for background noise.). Also reading news offa andand on reading a Louise Erdich novel.

My five cats are snuggled up on the bed because I have an oil heater in here. It’s cold in the rest of the house.

Finally, beautiful fall color foliage are on display in my part of MO. Fortunately, I see the trees from my bedroom window lining my street, so I don’t have to go out to enjoy.

Fascillating between cooking pork chops are reheating pissa and chicken bites.

A good day all around. Tomorrow heading to a small river town for the apple butter festival. Supposed to be sunny. Sweet dreams

That plays into it. He did not like her Met Gala look. He said it hurt his soul that he use to want Kim to show off her body but not now since he’s made his transition from rapper. He just dropped his new album. It has not gone over well. He’s saying fans will never hear his former music again as it was written/produced. He’s adamant about living in service to Christ and spreading the gospel. He is saying he is serious about running for President at some point.

It’s just hard to keep up with where his head is at. Maybe his faith will help him. He’s had some really bizarre meltdowns. I never understood his philosophy on slavery when he spoke to TMZ. He had the meltdown about JayZ on stage that time. His clothing line resembles something homeless people would wear. He spent all this money building houses that looked like domes and then had to tear them down. One minute he’s claiming he was off his meds, the next it’s he is a genius, the best at everything.

I think believe he has talked about being bipolar. Creatives with bipolar feel like they lose their passion & drive on the drugs – which I’m sure is true. Unfortunately, they can start to spin and become manic when off the drugs. His rants may be happening when he is In a manic state?

Word on the Hollywood streets is that MIL Kris has a hand in it because it is a way to MAKE $$$. Remember, she has her own church. Yes, time to tax churches, at least those who cross the line into politics, but the IRS is terrified of those shark-infested waters, instead preferring to terrify middle & low income taxpayers who shoulder the burden for our country.

Nothing exciting here… perfect weather, ALMOST worth the months of 100+. But the California fires suck. Last year, three friends lost everything, except their animals (most important). The current fires make three years in a row. The baby guinea pigs are so cute that I want to keep all of them. Meanwhile, I excitedly await 7p.m. because that is when my handsome and brainy hero, Paul Holes, has his new show, DNA of Murder.” Last week, they investigated one of the slayings on my MUST SOLVE list. I love watching Paul at work. Yolanda McCleary joins him tonight. I love her too. Back to knitting a scarf for one of my favorite former boyfriends… I hope you and Banjo have a great night.

P.S. The 20/20 episode with the girl stabbed and left for dead by her friends was good. I like David Muir. If you’ve never seen the story before, it is shocking. If you have seen it, it still is sad. BUT, the interview with the survivor makes it better. She is something special. Especially, considering that she was 12 at the time. Worth watching.

While I’ve noticed the looser format, Billy Jensen and Paul Holes still deliver a serious show that sticks to the facts and gets into all the nitty-gritty of the crimes they cover.

I grew up in Contra Costa, where Holes was an investigator. He was instrumental in catching the Golden State Killer. The GSK haunted my nightmares for DECADES. GSK, then known as the East Area Rapist, started in Sacramento when I lived in Tahoe. I was relieved that I was safe in Tahoe and my family in Concord (Contra Coasta). Then, he twice attacked a few blocks from my family’s home; he moved on to the next town doors from my best friend, two attacks. I moved to LA and passed through Goleta every week. Saw a wanted flier about rapist/killer and called Ventura Sheriffs in March 1987 to tell them their killer was our rapist. Two months later, his last known kill. I guess they didn’t believe me. Turns out that Larry Compton (Holes’s boss) told them the same thing. Cops didn’t believe him either. Linked by DNA by Holes 6 YEARS later! We moved to Sacramento one month and two days before the arrest. Before we moved, I found the address of attack #14, 1 mile from my house. The definitive DNA came through DAYS before Holes’ retirement. Now you see why I love him so. #hotforholes #jonesingforjensen #staysexydontgetmurdered

I think I saw him BEFORE the Concord attacks. Stopped in traffic at exactly the same spot where I once saw the second-handsomest man I’ve ever seen. He was on the canal jogging trail (GSK likes canal roads for getaway on stolen bicycles.) The guy had survey equipment. The armhair stood up and it is never wrong. We locked eyes and it was “I know that you know that I know you know thing.” But I didn’t think it was EAR, just some major creep. When EAR attacked near that spot, I wondered… but he didn’t look like ANY of the composites. After the arrest, they had an old photos and he DID look like the photo of him as a cop. Porn stashe and all…

We’ll be driving around the nearby neighborhoods and towns going about our business. I’ll say “Golden State” to my friend and when we get home, I look at the streets on a map and BINGO. Never been wrong.

I used to watch all these shows about murder (used to= 3 months ago. lol) and get frightened. When my son would go to his father’s house, I would dead bolt my bedroom door at night!
I may have some details wrong but there were stories about this murder because a woman named Michelle McNamara wrote a true crime blog and called this man out as the Golden State Killer. She was married to the actor Paton Oswald at the time. Unfortunately before he was captured, she died of an accidental overdose. It’s an interesting side story.

          Whoa. That’s something else.

I was born during (what we believe was?) the tail end of GSK’s reign of terror. It’s still wild to think that a couple of murders in Orange County in the 1980’s tie not only to the Ventura and Santa Barbara murders, but all the way back to a long trail of crimes in Northern California and the Central Valley in the 1970’s.

A while ago, I started listening to “True Crime Bullshit”, a podcast that goes deep into the life and crimes of Israel Keyes. Even now, we’re still trying to figure out how many people he killed and who they were. Now that we know he occasionally passed through Las Vegas, I occasionally wonder if any of our cold cases might have anything to do with his travels in and out of here.

And Corey Feldman, I want to cut that wisp of hair in his face. He really thinks he is something special, I can see why his brother resents him. His mom and Aaron Carter’s mom, though, did a number on their kids.

I’m so behind on MTM, just up to the episode where they had the tea. Quad is still a brat, I don’t know why Simone keeps trying to work things out with her, I would be so done. And I was surprised that Dr. Jackie commented the way she did about Mariah using drugs. I have some Newport’s, might watch another episode now. I really want to see the episode where Joslyn appears.

Since this is our last warm weekend here, I forced myself out of the house earlier to spend some quality time at the pool. We’ll start getting nights in the 30’s very soon, and the HOA already announced the pool is closing Halloween, so today really feels like the last gasp of summer.

No the chickens will not attack me, because I rarely go in their area and if you don’t f with them they don’t f with you…

Our biggest problem having chickens is our dogs, not our cats, the cats wander in and out of their area all the time but we now have abnormally high fencing to keep out our blood thirsty dogs!

Yes, no rooster. Unless you’re on an 80 acre farm, the neighbors will complain about the crowing every morning and then, due to town ordinances that ban them, the poor thing ends up at a shelter or worse. I feel so bad for them, just doing what’s natural. I lived in a farmhouse once where the owners had about a dozen hens that would free range in a group pattern every day. The woman who owned them told me she could tell what time of day it was by where they were in the yard. Wonderful to watch, so peaceful and calming to hear the low-key clucking and great to have something that naturally eats pesky bugs like earwigs. I loved them.

Bantam cochin chickens are smart and funny. The bantam silkies can barely see for the fluffs on their heads. You only need 3 gals to make a (psychologically sound) flock.

Sadly, bantam chicks cannot be sexed. So when you buy babies you may get a rooster. Umm. My latest batch of 18 had 6 roos. 2 were mean and were, sadly, dispatched. I am keeping the other 4.

They don’t fly at me, per se. Sometimes they launch off the coop and into the yard. They like landing on spouse’s sports car. He, goodnaturedly, drives to work in a BMW with feather-splats on the hood.

Find an older person who can show you the ropes of chicken-care.

Bantam roosters can be mean. In HS, our neighbor Carol decided she just HAD to have a rooster. They knew nothing about them and got a Bantam. Appropriately named LeRoi, he thought he was king of all. Her brother was in first grade when LeRoi jumped up, bit his wiener, and wouldn’t let go. Carol was too busy laughing to stop it. Poor kid never got over it.

I was really surprised at the chickens and roosters strolling around my son’s apartment complex and houses and strip mall nearby in Hawaii. That rooster woke me every morning.

My mom grew up in NZ and they always had chickens in the back garden for eggs.

There are a number of IG pages of people who have chickens — and drink with them and travel around the country with them. They are a recent “it” pet to have.

20 years ago when me and my new husband moved out here to the WWWest we were talking to my Grandma who was still with us then about the 3 chickens we had and how wonderful their eggs were, Grandma asked about the rooster and we told her we didn’t have one, didn’t want the noise, fertilized eggs etc. Grandma just flatly commented almost under her breath “well they can’t be very happy chickens “. It was a beautiful day here in Connecticut, although I was inside because I was at the Lunch and Learn at our synagogue about When Does Life Begin? For those of you who are wondering, it’s at an entirely different time for us than for Christians.
When I got home, I baked a pan of coconut pecan pie bars for tomorrow. They’re for my aunt’s unveiling, or rather for the get together afterwards. About a year after a Jewish person dies, we hold a ceremony at the cemetery where we unveil their headstone. As it will be raining tomorrow, the ceremony will be short. But the get together at my uncle’s house will be long and loud.
No Halloween costumes for me. My son is assigned Halloween doir duty. If he wasn’t here, I’d just go hide upstairs all night and not answer the front door!

I can tolerate Kanye being unhinged because he said in an interview he was previously hospitalized for bipolar disorder – if he’s all about God now and moving in a positive direction then more power to him. I can’t tolerate Amber Portwood’s type of “unhinged” because she got off easy after swinging a machete at Glennon. She already has a felony domestic violence charge and served 17 months in prison for violatating probation (was caught with drugs) so I don’t understand why they gave her a plea deal on this one. And I haven’t heard anything about Thomas…do tell!

Our leaves are all still plain old green and still on the trees. It seems a bit late for them not to have turned yet, but maybe not. I feel like the end of October and beginning of November is usually peak leaf looking time. So far nada.

Oh and I got FIVE new bras today. When I went to WalMart for cedar chips a while back, I had hoped to pick up a few of my favorite bras. Alas, apparently WalMart doesn’t sell them anymore. So I looked at the tags and googled the brand and the had a website where I could find my bra by the design number. I’m so excited. I got 2 white ones, a black one, a red one and this sort of weird blue teal color! I’m very particular about bras. I’ve been to the fancy pants $100 bra stores. I do not like them. The only kind I like is this one design. It’s unlined, lace, with an underwire. I don’t need any PADDING ffs or push up or any of that crap. So when you find the perfect Bra at Walmart or a Neiman Marcus it is a glorious thing.

I hear you. If I’m a natural DD and about 5 feet tall, why would I need or what so much padding. Yet I do want structure in a bra (I tend to say “brarrrrr” like Jill Z. but I only mean to be dramatic and am not a fan of Jill.) Also, I want thick enough fabric but not be a frickin crank or boulder holder. A truly glorious find.

The lace on these bras holds my DDs up just fine. The work is done by the underwire and these bras rarely have an underwire pop out. It’s very think lace, but somehow it gets the job done. I’m eleventy billion years old. I have found my favorite Brarrrr. I don’t care if it is made my angels or Nordstrom or the 7-11. Perfection is perfection wherever you find it. 🙂

Amen. Underwire should never be pop out. Those days still piss me off. I also don’t care where I happen to find perfection. I’m eleventy billion years old living in the Pacific NW. We had stores called Wig Wam and Sears Surplus, now we have dollar stores same as many areas. I grew up being real (well if we are saying I grew up) and became what I am proud to be now based on work. I experienced ridicule having large DDs, natural ones yet I struggle to find a decent brarrr. I’m down for finding what I need at 7-11 anytime. Well said TT, perfection is where you find it.

Nothing fun. Banjo has gotten fleas TWICE this year despite being on NexGuard an insanely expensive treatment. I read that fleas hate cedar so I am trying to cover the back yard in it. At Walmart it is in the pet department. I was hoping to buy more substantial cedar in Home Depot but they didn’t have any and sent me to the pet department in WalMart. I really need to go buy a shit ton more. The yard is not even a third covered. I bought all they had,

I love big dogs! Depending where I live next, I will probably get another. Banjo is doing his dying thing at the moment. The only reason I am still up is because it has been pouring rain and he needs to poop. Le sigh. The good news is he has only pooped twice in the house and always by the kitchen door. And it is dry like a candy bar. Sorry TMI.

Underwire, no padding. The ups are microfiber with no seams. Even though the fabric is fairly thin, everything looks smooth — without padding.

It’s SO important to have your bras measured correctly. It’s worth spending the extra money even it’s just the one time. Most of my bras about $65-$70 but I’m careful with them and they last a few years. I can’t believe how different women can look when they’re wearing the correct bra. I’ve seen lots of tv shows where women are off two and three sizes!! Unfortunately since the advent of Victoria’s Secret there aren’t as many independent stores selling women’s undergarments. I live outside NYC and there are several stores specializing in bras and they really take their time and measure you. They also manhandle you a bit so you can’t be too shy!

I’ve been to those stores. They are selling you all a load of bullshit and tell you you need some weird size that only they sell for a hundred bucks or more a pot. You need two measurements to determine your bra size. It doesn’t take a consultation with a guru to figure this out. My $12 bra fits perfectly. When you find the right one you find it and that is why when you can’t find it in the store anymore it is a PITA to start over. Thankfully, I found mine online.

In taking Tamara’s advice to de-Bravo, I somehow started watching the last 15 months of Coronation Street, which is a very old-school but often very funny British soap opera. It seriously has almost 90 regular characters and I had to turn on subtitles because they speak in very thick British accents with lots of slang words and phrases. It’s a cute show and I’m enjoying a break from the Bravo formula for a bit.

Hi all. TT, I love when you ask us these questions. After feeling sluggish yesterday, today I woke up bounding with energy. I did tons of laundry, roasted butternut squash and made soup, roasted some chicken, then went to Walgreens at Chicago and Michigan (in Chicago now) which is THE BEST people watching anywhere outside of the international terminal at O’Hare to drop off scripts and buy some chocolate. Then back here where I finally cleaned out the downstairs coat closet which my husband thinks is the Smithsonian Institute. The man saves everything and has a strange obsession with buying light bulbs. Whatever. I found stuff from 20 years ago and also, while on my hands and knees cleaning the floor in there, found some dried up cat pee from my 7 fur babies (don’t run DNA tests so I have no idea who the culprit is/was) before I decided to ALWAYS keep that door shut. Cleaned EVERYTHING in there. Then took a shower and laid down (finally) and watched two episodes of Chicago PD (went on set once, love those guys… that LaRoyce Hawkins is even hotter in person (he does tons of work with inner city kids BTW so you know he’s a good one), then heated up dinner for husband and now going to watch Mrs. Maisel since I’m behind and starting Season 2. Tomorrow we are taking a friend for lunch who was recently widowed and her husband and step kids screwed her over ROYALLY (what’s wrong with people???) and then our neighbor from Tahoe is in visiting since he’s an author (economics… snore….) and we are taking him for dinner so I DO NOT HAVE TO COOK! Then Monday, Trump is here in Chicago, so this should be interesting since the teachers are still on strike. It’s been raining all afternoon and I love it. So I better make my Jewel run first thing in the morning tomorrow…

I love reading what everyone is up to. I am sickened by the fires in CA ( we live in Newport half the year but husband wants the hell out of CA) and PG&E is all to blame for not updating the equipment. It was installed in 1904. Yes, 1904. Over a hundred years ago and it’s barely been replaced or updated since CA thinks it’s more important to build a bullet train and provide free everything to lazy ass leeches.

    Enjoy your weekend everyone!

It sounds weird – but it tastes sooo good! I watched a couple of “Long Lost Family” this morning when my dogs got me up at the hiney-crack of dawn. I find that show fascinating – and it almost always has a happy ending. I just read up on “the Oval”. It sounds great! I just started “the Righteous Gemstones”. It’s got great actors with John Goodman & Adam Devine. It been a bit more violent than I was expecting. Still funny – but it just surprised me. Still contemplating checking out “90 day fiancé”, but where do you start? There are so many versions – before the 90 day, 90 day backwards, regular 90 day?

My mother is a nut. I have lots & lots of back, knee, feet issues. She would run me into the ground. She will tell me I need to go to the Dr one minute and come up with something else for me to do the next. I had a particularly painful ablation one day, which she knew about, and called as soon as I got out of my appt wanting me to stop at Pier 1 and search for throw cushions for her outdoor furniture. She has always been this way. I’ve had everyone from kids, husband to counselor tell me to stop letting her manipulate me. She convinced my daddy to cut my sister and my sister’s oldest child, who is not my sister’s biologically, out of their will over an asinine disagreement in a text message and hounded him about not speaking to them. My daddy would never ever have done this yrs before. I begged him not to. He said it could always be changed back later. Later didn’t come for him. She was relentless. He blew his brains a few months later.
Sorry I know you don’t like to hear depressing stuff. I’ve just about dealt with all I can at this point. This site is actually therapeutic. The recaps and updates are a welcome distraction.

MelG, I am so sorry. It is so infuriating how one person in a family can ruin so many lives. I will be thinking of you and hope you have don’t have too much contact with your mom. I know it might sound cruel, but it is best for your sanity.

This might sound crazy too. But it’s best to not hate her. All it does is hurt you by letting her take up bad space in your mind. Try and be with like minded people (sane) as yourself who have empathy and kindness in their heart like you.

I have seen manipulating, narcissist, psychopaths who lie, lie, lie and stop at nothing to get what they want, no matter the cost of others. I’ve cut ties with people (yes, more than one) b’c it is easier for me to keep these people far away from me and my sanity.

I’m also very sorry for the loss of your dad. ((hugs)) Be good to yourself and heal.

I do best when I have no contact with my mother. Her manipulation games moved from my sister and i to my sons. I have even less tolerance for it when it’s my kids. Sometimes you do have to get away from people for self preservation. One of the detectives who worked my daddy’s suicide actually went to my husband and told him not to let her do to me what she did to him. According to her she’s the victim. She has trashed him to me every chance she got since he died. I have tried to pick my battles, but there are times when I know she is lying through her teeth that I just can’t. I didn’t mean to be a downer. I don’t ever want to be sent to the WLS. I love it here!

You’re not being a downer. You are speaking your truth. I have had people in my life like your mom. One in particular has ruined more lives and she still walks around all happy, is beyond overbearing, besides all the rest of her ‘strange qualities’. No one can stand her, but they are afraid to cut her out of their life for fear she will retaliate and make up slanderous lies about them.

Detectives see people like her all the time. I’m sure they saw right right through her bullshit within a few seconds of her talking. These types of narcissists are pretty much the same. I could never understand them, b’c I am a straight shooter. So these people really perplex me and opened my eyes how cruel people can be. I learned the hard way.

Protect your sons at all costs. Your mom doesn’t deserve to be around them. If your sons are old enough, explain to them everything about her and why they shouldn’t be around her. If they are young children, just keep limited contact and then no contact if it’s possible. Sometimes these people have some type of hold over their victims and it’s hard to get away.

I’m sorry that you have a mom like this. They get off on trashing others and being the victim. Meanwhile they are out socializing, having a good time to keep up their ‘wonderful’ image. All the time leaving their victims stunned and confused. I’m glad you are onto her and keep limited contact.

Binge watching Modern Love in my bedroom where I have the AC set at 60, snuggled into fuzzy blanket on an 8” down mattress on top of a 4”. (If you have never slept on a down mattress, you have never truly known joy) Have refused coffee & lunch & a drop by visit in favor of being ugly lazy. It’s just 6:30 here so I have 2hrs to prepare to go out later. Which means I will shower at 8:15, throw on 4min worth of mascara and tanning powder (to hide the fact I am
A snoFkingWhitey in SoCal). The best faux winter day I could invent.
As for early dark… I love it. I turn on every fireplace, open every door / window the moment I get home. Candles and lamps everywhere. Going out seems more ‘scandalous’, if you will. The open house surrounded by darkness, more living on the edge of danger ??. I prob have unaddressed psychological issues ?

My partner and I did a “southern charm” day.. we had a fab time driving around to different spots they film at. First thing we did is go to Naomi’s parents restaurant Nico in Mount Pleasant and had a fantastic lunch at the bar with rose and oysters from the happy hour menu, can’t beat it! Nico came out and introduced himself. He was very nice and gave us a recommendation to go to Melfi’s (new-ish Italian spot in Charleston across from Leon’s oyster bar). In between those two things we stopped at Gywnns department store where we definitely did not see Katherine working or Patricia shopping but we walked through and gawked at the prices and left pretty quickly. So weird it’s this very high end store in the middle of a strip mall next to a grocery store.

We drove through isle of palms like giddy teenagers by Sheps house, then into Charleston we did the ceremonial drive by Patricia’s Mikell Jenkins house, so enormous! On our way to dinner up King street, I said hey I think that must be a Austin’s apartment up there?! I remembered the exterior shot. We also speculated whether any of these folks still live in these places anymore?

All in all it was a great day and everyone we talked to were very charming and said that whenever they’ve waited on the charmer cast or seen them, they’re all real nice!

We went home and watched a cool documentary on Netflix called Sour Grapes all about a guy who duped people into buying expensive old bottles of wine to save for investment. And then also a few episodes of David Chang’s new travel doc with Kate McKinnon and Chrissy Teigen.. all highly recommend!

I had a great day! Woke up early, took a 40 minute walk, went to farmers market and got some green beans, tomatoes and the most delicious pickles ( wasabi, hot peps, and spicy bread & butter), then off to my hair stylist for a much needed cut and style. Back home in time to doll up with makeup cuz hair was looking so good after stylist blow out and flat ironed! Off to Navy football game in Annapolis with friend that has bomb parking ticket and seats six rows from front! Toured a Mercedes RV that costs about $ 160k, great game that Navy football team won in literally the last 2 seconds of the game with a super long field goal. Ran into a lot of old friends during tailgating. Going to hook up for lunch for sure with those ppl again. My caprese salad was a hit at tailgate. Many compliments on my hair from all the ppl who I haven’t seen in years now that I have embraced my silver/ grey…it was a great great day!

One of the things I DO NOT MISS about working a real job is the number of “super religious people” who when I greet the say “I am blessed and highly favored.” Which I guess means God loves them more than the starving children, the women and children being sex trafficked, etc. It ESPECIALLY annoys me when Phaedra Parks says it. She is literally the person who understands religion the most in this world.

It irritates the shit out me, too. Especially when Kim Biermann used to say “I asked, believed and received”. I just want to tell that whore to STFU.

I worked with a man once who said when he worked for a rental car company years ago, and that sometimes folks would keep a car way past the return date. And that it never failed, when he would call them to see where the car was, he would always get a voicemail that would end with “have a blessed day.” LOL. He knew then that car was gone. LOL

The Beirmans hit the lottery with their show and the misogyny rewards them for now but I am pretty sure the ask believe receive shit is not working for them, Kim may be going to jail soon for hiding assets in a loan out corp. And honestly there is not much in there.. She flat ass broke at this point. I almost feel like Bravo is holding the show so she and Kroy and Brielle will all go to prison.

Then there is a friend who, after the sermon about “if you have the faith of a mustard seed you can do ANYTHING.” decided to test his faith. He jumped off the roof and his mom said he didn’t have shit for faith. She was pissed that he didn’t get hurt because that would have taught him a lesson. Years later, she did apologize and call herself a former freak.

I read an interesting book a few years back that was written by the Army (male) nurse who took care of Saddam Hussein while he was in US custody after he was pulled out of that hole. It was a really interesting book, and gave some good insight into his thought processes and how he could manipulate people to get them to go along with him. I don’t remember the name of the book, but I definitely recommend it.

It sucks being a nightowl. And if it didn’t get so cold in Ohio, I would ditch my bloomers. Tired of being constricted. I don’t have a washer and dryer because of the weird ass kitchen hookups in this house. If you are um, fat, like me, they don’t roll down and I throw mine away after one wear… which if I don’t leave the house could be a few days. lol.

I don’t buy briefs or tighty whites. I buy boxer breifs. they are kind of in the middle. They are sort of underpants with a big elastic waistband and form fitting cotton “short shorts” I mean the only reason I bought them is because hanes are super cheap at the dollar general. I don’t like when underwear rolls down and I don’t have the ability to wash my own clothes and I am not intimate with anyone who would ever see them. But Lord, men’s underpants are SOFA KING MUCH easier to wear.

I still have women’s as well but only wear them when someone might see…and I handwash those. But , I must admit I am a fan of male boxer briefs from the dollar store. Bags of like three, wear them and toss them. That was simply due to my laundry issues but now, I’m just fine with them SO MUCH MORE COMFY and no roll down issues.

The only think I would worry about with men’s shorts is if they could hold all this azz I have. Do they sell underwear for men who have child bearing hips?

And I know I can’t ditch drawers like I did bras, cuz when I sneeze, I tinkle, when I cough, I tinkle, when I laugh too hard, I tinkle. Hell, sometime I tinkle just cuz I stood up.

I did a cooking class today with my mum. It was advertised as an authentic Italian class with a proper old Italian lady. It was a great Saturday here in North Carolina. Fly Boy & I woke up at 7:19, but didn’t get up until 9:30, & a good time was had by all. Left at noon for a long drive to see great-grand-daughter #2 in the first playoff game of the volleyball season. Fly Boy drove me (broken arm, etc.; I keep ending up in the ER). They practically skunked the opposing team in 3 games. However, this year’s team has a lot of very short girls who think they can spike the ball from the 2nd row, so I’m not sure how far they will get. Our girl is 6 ft. tall, so they might have even lost without her. The 10 year old great-granddaughter was in the stands with us, so that was a bonus. We got a rare 2 hour visit with the 17 yr. old after the game & it was great to catch up with her busy life. On the way home Fly Boy treated me to filet mignon at my fave steak house, & I managed to save some for Coco Chanel (after all, she’s French). She will be a Bumble Bee this year for Halloween. Another happy note: the new former guest room off the dining room/now new dining room off the kitchen is nearly finished. The door is gone & the doorway finished off with fancy woodwork. The contractor lost the argument with me over the height of the beadboard wainscoting. Lordy, he said he’d never seen any over 3′. My 5′ beadboard looks magnificent now that is finished, & fortunately, Fly Boy really likes it, too. The light coral paint sets off the crisp white woodwork, & the plinth block window trim is perfect. I bought 3 extra 42″ wall cabinets & had them installed on the floor on a short wall. There will be a counter on top for a buffet, & I already had 3 tall bar stools, so we will have extra seating if anyone ever does actually come & visit us for anything other than to use the swimming pool. Once the dining room is finished, we’ll only have the living room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths & library to go. Work on the custom pantry is supposed to start tommorow, & Fly Boy is supposed to measure for the library cabinets today. Our heirs will have a much nicer house to sell. Onward!

How wonderful you get to make it your dream home. MOST times the wainscoting at 3 feet was to keep chairs from damaging the walls, that’s why the chair rail tops the headboard. But there are lots of examples where it comes up higher to become plate shelves. When it’s a matter of aesthetics, it’s what YOU want. It’s your dream.

        October 28, 2019 at 9:55 pm

True, Nanette, but the chairs don’t go against the walls in my dining room, so the 5′ wainscoting will do a fine job keeping the china cabinet from marking the wall. The tall wainscoting is rather a Scandinavian vibe, which suits my heritage fine. You can also use a 3′ chair rail in the midst of the beadboad. I did that in my last house when had a vaulted ceiling & I wanted the 8′ beadboard to go all the way to the top of the tall ceiling. Creating a 3′ chair rail allowed me to give the illusion the beadboard was actually 11′ tall instead of just 8′.
