Ha. I am having a Maxine Waters weekend. Yesterday I spent the day with my yard kid who did some AMAZING work getting my tomato patch completely cleared of all the random shit that grows there so that next year I can plant again.
I’m in a good place and am so excited to see so much chatter here on my posts. I am trying to learn to just take a weekend here and there and watch TV without having to talk about it. I just watched the final of Our Boys, on.. HBO? Showtime? I forget. l wish everyone would watch it. I am very much Pro-Palestine. But even if you are Pro-Isreal, this is much see TV and it is very objective and perhaps everyone could learn to see the other side.
Yesterday, I sat outside in the sun with my lawn kid and learned a lot about what is on the minds of our kids growing up. He’s a great kid and I want to adopt him. But I guess his parents would have something to say about that. So, I am trying to immerse him in literature and thought and praying he will grow up to be a great man.
The good news for me is that there are no Sunday night shows I have to recap. So I am “reclaiming my time”, and my sanity buy enjoying my weekend offline. I love that there are so many conversations happening here during my absence. I had around 50 comments from new people that were on topic and interesting contributions. So I welcome these new commentors and apologize for the delayed approval.
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I’ll be back tomorrow to get back to work. In the mean time, Happy Thanksgiving to my Canookian friends! What are y’all up to this weekend?
I’m glad you’re feeling better, TT. I’m finally starting to emerge from “the dark place” as well, though I had a shit-ton of work last week, capping off with the Pride Parade Friday night (which ran behind well over an hour).
I’m trying to get a head start on my work this week, and I’m hoping to get back out and put in more “quality pool time” before the HOA closes it down for the season.
You do realize I am going to have to come see you at some point. IJS. Keep your shit together until we can be craay together. Vegas is completely unhealthy for me and you will have to pull me off the tables. lol.
Thankfully I’ve never been much of a gambler, so I’ve managed to avoid losing my shirt at the slots. (Seriously, we have slot machines and video poker in our grocery stores and gas stations, so they’re nearly everywhere!)
I was thinking of you on Friday. We’re unique in doing our Pride Parade at night, and this year was especially crazy with the big crowds and special guests. I even got to interview a Drag Race alumna for a few minutes, and I would have asked you and Lady Cocotte for input had I gotten more advanced notice of all this happening.
Sometimes, I wonder why I live here amidst all this crazy. But then, I remember how crazy my ass is and remember that this is probably the only state where I can fit in by going nuts.
When am able to travel again, you are going to have to learn to play Pai Gow (you don’t win much you don’t lose much) but the driinks are free and I will need someone to get me back to my hotel room. lol
No one other than 3 people knew you were “gone”.
THanks for being one of the three. You are OBSESSIVE with my site. You are in the WLS under multiple nics. YOU ARE A CRAZY STALKER BITCH! GO FIND A SITE YOU LIKE! CLEARLY I AM NOT THE SITE FOR YOU. Pleas fuck the fuck off you psychotic bitch. Thanks and have a nice day.
Maybe you need to learn to count.
I visit TT’s site daily and I absolutely knew she wasn’t posting and was afraid something was wrong. I know I’m not alone in a party of 3.
Many more than 3 knew. Some of us who visit regularly but don’t comment much LOVE this site. Funny and real.
Woke up at noon. Been looking for a puppy . After ten years of being told no, I clearly said “i am turning 60 yrs old. “If i want a puppy, I WILL DECIDE IF I GET A PUPPY” and that’s that. I’m not living my end years not doing what I want. Kids are raised, your retired, i can walk with my new knees, I’ve been waiting for now, in my life. Got a big ole “okay”.
So, bff vacay in 9 days yay. Every six weeks is perfect for me. Bff is struggling terribly with grieving her mom ‘s sudden loss. Her and i have cultural, race, family, difference(she’s now the matriarch) but her mom has 15 brothers and sisters.
I miss her mom as well (22 yrs) bff has LUPUS and I’ve almost lost her once in these past few weeks.
She’s happy and doing well on vacay, so if every six weeks bff vacay, so be it. I will do anything for her.
Randomly last bff vacay she out of the blue said “we are sisters” i said ” yes we are. ”
I got a smartphone (hate phones) BUT i received one email and was able to figure how to reply.
Checking out laptops, ranging from $89 to over $3,000. Think that may wait closer to BigBrother. HP brand like suggested.
FINALLY, BRIDE PRICE WILL BE NEGOTIATED TONIGHT ON 90 days (Ben&Akini)
Looks like a good episode. Our Boys have been on my calendar since night one. Better get to it soon!!
EVERYONE have a great weekend.
TT enjoy your time, hugs to Banjo.
P.s. I’ve waited (10 yrs) asked, made certain it was in the best interest to everyone, including a puppy, before deciding and realizing, that it was a choice (not mine) for me to
get a puppy.
No more reasons ,except no reason, for me to not get a puppy i may really really want.
Just fyi a lot of thought and patience and health went into my decision.
Perhaps it sounds awfully silly, but it will be my buddy for 12-15 years possibly.
This may sound counterintuitive, but I found that TWO dogs IS better than one. They have a pal to play with when you are “dog tired” and when you have to leave for a while, it is easier because they have each other. I don’t know if getting two PUPS is easier … maybe a pup and then after pup is trained get a youngish shelter dog. Whatever HAVE FUN WITH YIU PUP. Rescuing my (pregnant) dog and keeping a pup is the best thing I’ve ever done. Ever.
As for bff’s lupus, if you are on here, you may remember RHOC Vicki G.’s daughter Brianna. She had bad problems from lupus. She hasn’t had a recurrence since she started keto. Something to consider. And you can eat a lot. I love it.
CherylB — Go get your puppy!! You will love him or her. Choose slow to make sure the dog is going to the very best for you. How exciting! Keep us updated.
You talk about you BFF a lot. You’re such a great friend which is hard to find. I find it very endearing how much you love and care for her. You both seem to have a blast together. Tell her Laila says hello and I am jealous that she’s your BFF and I am not.. lol
“i am turning 60 yrs old. “If i want a puppy, I WILL DECIDE IF I GET A PUPPY”
This is why I love you. GET YOUR DAMN PUPPY. But you might find, when you get to the pound an older dog wants to adopt you. You never know. Let your dog choose you. Banjo stupidly chose me and we’ve done well together. He a mean dog like his mommy. LOL. Getting a dog was the best thing I’ve ever done. I probably wouldn’t be alive without him. He’s the best. and send me pictures. He’ll be OUR dog.
Get. The. Dog. Preferably 2 of different ages. We lost 2 within 2 weeks and if not for dog 3, I would be in the darkened closet, sobbing.
Get. The. Dog. My beloved mother in law said that to us 6 months before she passed. We did.
I am 58 and dogs are how I cope.
I’m not a big gambler either, I can make 20 bucks go far….all day, done it, drinking champagne the whole day…at the bar computer poker game, met very fun people! I may need a ride, blushing but hopeful!
Oh sweetie, GO TO THE POUND. My plan was to have a dog that lived in the yard and never came inside. I was afraid because my house got broken into, He was a going to live outside, Now he rules my world. He is the best thing that ever happened to me. I was the most cold hearted bitch. And then came Banjo. You will never love anything as much as you love your dog. I know you think you are “just getting a dog” for whatever reason. But even my cold dark heart was melted,
Listen to TT! The pound has wonderful dogs that will love you forever — and a grown dog is the best! No potty training etc. (Also take a look at the black dogs, dogs that are “different.” The neediest dogs will bring blessings and love to your house.)
Football and day drinking are my big plans. Enjoy your weekend!
Thankfully I remembered to stock up on vino at TJ’s, so I might need to pop open the Rosé soon (unless I go for the Sonoma-Alexander Valley Chardonnay I keep stocking up on because it’s that damned good).
Hazelnut Espresso vodka dumped on a couple coffees and I’m WIRED! Oh yeah, team won ?
I can’t believe it is only 3pm outside. It feels like 7 pm. Its weird.
This makes me so happy to hear!! I don’t know you, but I think you are my kind of people and I root for you always.
I have been wanting to watch Our Boys – also Pro-Palestine here and that seems like such a good one to watch. I’m going to start it now! Wishing you continued well wishes and good energy, TT! ♥️
Interesting blog! If people of all nations could live side by side in peace and not fight over land or religion, the world would be a better place. There’s always hope for peace.
And all the people said AMEN.
Amen and pro-Palestine here too! TT, I’m so happy that you are taking time for you because honestly, you matter far more than you think you do to a LOT of us. I’ve turned into a virtual hermit since I hit 60 three years ago – I work from home and the older I get, the more I don’t like to be around people – I freak out and get panic attacks a lot. Maybe I, too, need a dog, but right now, we have a 10-year-old cat that suddenly this week started pooping on the floor a couple of times which she has never ever done, so I’m calling the vet tomorrow morning asap. Already literally have lost 4 shelter kittens we adopted at ages varying from 8 months to 7 years from weird things our vet never detected on multiple exams – like congenital cardiomyopathy, spinal cord cancer, a massive first time seizure that killed the 8-month-old, and stomach cancer – all within the span of 3-1/2 years. I’m starting to feel like maybe I’m the Grim Reaper to shelter pets and we take really good care of all the kitties too (we haven’t been allowed dogs in our previous place because it was a cat-only place, but the new apartment does allow dogs). I don’t know what to do and if I lose this kitty, I’m afraid I’ll be too scared to adopt another or to even get a dog. I love your stories about Banjo and what a blessing Banjo has been to your life. Thank you for being you and keep doing things for you to make you feel better too.
Sweetie dogs are the way to go. GET A DOG.
JillyAnne, it isn’t you. Shelter cats are commonly inbread as ferals and it causes them to have short lives.
I am also a cat rescue mommy and have lost five at young ages through the course of about twenty years. My last one passed away three years ago but I currently have two.
(Hug). Know that Grim Reaper feeling. You gave them the best lives.
‘Our Boys’ was truly an engrossing narrative. An excellent watch! In a related genre, ‘The Spy’, starring and directed by Sacha Barron Cohen, is equally as gripping. The mini series is avail on Netflix. Breaking away from the monotony of Bravo has allowed me to view some truly interesting works of entertainment. Netflix has truly delivered in terms of fascinating and enjoyable limited series. Even Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series ‘The Politician’ was well scripted and refreshingly amusing!
Sasha Baron Cohen is a genius. If you haven’t seen his series “This is America”, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys his humor. It originally aired on HBO. We still laugh until crying every time we re-watch. Episodes are only 30 minutes and given that his format has been outed, there is only one short season.
I cannot believe some of the people who fell for some of the outrageous shite! Especially the politician. What a craigh!
Gobble Gobble Gobble
well – today we are watching Guys Grocery games (R.I.P. Carl Riuiz) watching different ways
to prepare turkey.
We are enjoying Netflix – watched Amy Schumer new Stand up special and Wanda Sykes Stand up.
Thankful for everything we have and understand the process of why we don’t have. We continue to pray for world peace.
My laptop is starting to konk out. I was trying to reply to someone who was being a dick about the lawn kid. He is not in my will, He’s just a great kid, And I do want to help send him to school. So fuck you for thinking that is a problem.
If you can find a kid who is willing to have a conversation, you’ve found gold. No electronic devices, no mumbled responses; that kid deserves all the encouragement you are willing to give.
He is a great kid. I want to adopt him an send him to college.
He sounds like a great kid who you have great love for. If you can help him, I say do so. Times are hard and if I was this kid it would be an honor for him for you to take him under your wing and guide him. I’m sure his parents would appreciate how much you admire him and want the best for him.
Glad you took the night off. Hugs to you and Banjo.. xo
Glad you hear you’re back in your garden preparing for Next Season! Make it the best harvest crop EVER!
Lawn kids are great – one wonders if the conversations you have with them penetrate their brain and memory bank. It does, from my experience – keep talking to the young person – they need to hear from ppl outside the home that they are doing great! Your words matter.
My laptop keeps crapping out,. I guess it is time for a new one. But yes. I want to send my lawn kid to college. He’s amazing and kind. And the kid I never got to have .
So glad to hear that you are doing and feeling better! It’s always a great day when we can step into the light, after spending so much time in the dark.
I stumbled onto “Our Boys” by accident. I’m not necessarily pro-Palestine but I am always interested in a good story and I got hooked from the start. I didn’t make it all the way through because I couldn’t figure out when exactly it was on again but I do hope to catch up using the HBO app.
Will have to watch this space more closely next year, as I apparently missed out on Tomato Planting Season. Even though I put in a call to a local nursery for tomato plants back in MAY, I was told they were already all sold out!! So no tomatoes for me this year ?
Anyone want to clue me in on just how early I need to get those darn things in the ground??
By Mother’s Day is common wisdom in MO
In St Louis, as soon as it hits 50 at night.
Depends where you live. After the last frost. If you buy plants, you need to take off the bottom leaves — a few inches worth — and plant that part of the stem in the ground. Unlike other plants, a tomato will grow roots where leaves used to be. You need strong roots. Master Gardeners in your area may have specific answers.
That fucking roof rat Stripe stole all of my semi-ripe tomatoes. I need to use raised beds with that rat proof cloth on the bottom and more netting to keep the chickens out. I busted the dogs eating the special molting food I mixed up for the chickens… Can’t we all just get along…
I am glad you feel better.I DO miss you when I don’t see your name in my inbox. I am glad you’ve had a good weekend , so have I! I took Friday off and did all of my required “hunting and gathering” (grocery shopping), enjoying a drop in the humidity for a day in the upper 80’s that didn’t feel like a sauna. I’ve signed up to learn how to tile floors at Home Depot a week from next Saturday. I am slowly coming back to life.
Hello Tamara! Glad to read you’re having a good weekend. I haven’t posted here in a long time because I haven’t been watching any reality shows for quite a while. When I was I didn’t want to comment because I really didn’t have anything nice to say about anybody. I read and watch the news constantly and don’t know if it’s better or worse than the scripted Bravo housewives. To take my mind off the everyday world I planted a huge zinnia and sunflower garden. It attracted so many butterflies, hummingbirds and bumblebees and was the highlight of my summer. I had better luck with tomatoes this year but not with green peppers. We had a late spring here in northeast but everything I planted grew like crazy. Now my potted flowers are replaced with mums and fall decorations. My sister is cooking homemade ham and bean soup and apple crisp. It smells so good along with the fresh air with the windows open. I love this time of the year! Keep on keeping on my friend! Your doing great!
Glad to hear you are back! If you want to see some beautiful scenery and photography, check out Gordon Ramsey Uncharted. I immediately thought of you wizen I viewed the 1st episode
Glad you are enjoying your wknd. I’m up in Canada, so it’s turkey time as well as voting time. Concentrating on the turkey and fingers crossed on the voting lol
Read your post Tamara, happy to hear you’re doing well feeling the outdoors and teaching another youth the blessed love of reading a book! You are a teacher.
I debated reading everything before posting but I have been away too and somehow I couldn’t wait!
I’ve been to the “South of Arizona” this past week to care for my Grandson during fall break while his Momma works at her brand new job that started for her this past Monday, huge promotion, couldn’t be more proud of this woman! My grandson turned 7 on Friday. He is the sweetest and my daughter did that, she’s a VERY single mom, her ex was deported back to S. Africa, rightly so…She is completely independent of baby daddy but also had to learn to listen to her inner hustle, take care of her son, grow and keep moving. I had a great week.
By the way, all you single parents here? You rock on, it is fricking hard, I know, I did it too and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, being a single parent is not for the weak but the rewards so outweigh the struggle.
Now, I may sack out! A whole week of entertaining a little at my age? Naaaay, I’m probably gonna read up, comment and then get up and go to work tomorrow.
Missed you all!
Welcome back, glad you had a well-deserved wonderful time. Have fun catching up.
I so want to drive CA right now, you’re on my bucket list to visit, right now. I do hope we get to meet in person soon, xxoo. I miss the Bay Area but I’m hearing it’s changed, sad face, none the less, love not just CA, but ALL of the USA, it’s amazing, all of it! My feelers are out there right now for fun trips, I’ve (yup) fallen in love with my new found freedom and a really fun car.
Another good HBO series: Years and Years. Scary, because it’s plausible. Che k it out TT
I got laid off from my cooperate job in the coldest way possible. People keep telling me it’s a blessing in disguise and I’m not going to dispute that. But I hate job seeking and interviews. Que sera, sera I guess.
Oh no!
Regroup, look at your resume. Tweak to your next “job”, your next job may be a perfect fit or a calling…
So sorry JustJenn….hoping that something better comes along (quick!!!).
It’s going to be okay. I promise. Shitty things sometimes end up being for the best in the long run.
@JJ, so did I. It has made me super depressed. I hate when people say it’s for the best. My boss set me up to get laid off because I was a whistle blower. HR came to me asked about has he ever done anything, which I told them everything. He found out what I said since I was the only female in the department. He waited a year and when they said they needed someone to get let go, he picked me and the other whistle blower in the department. Trust, I tried to sue for wrongful termination. Since all my coworkers are too afraid to vouch for me I finally had to let it go. I found out that my company is trying to get rid of employee’s over 50. I am starting all over at 50 and it’s f^cking me up. I am not getting any bites and will have to probably start temping since unemployment has stopped. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but I know exactly what you are going through. I am hoping that I can get in touch with Ronan Farrow so I can put the company on blast. Good luck to you JJ.
We all understand layoffs are getting pretty common nowadays … but when you say the “coldest way possible,” that changes things. I got fired on a voicemail over our holiday break. Happy New Year, right? I had found another job and was planning to give two weeks notice when we went back. My boss had done a hostile takeover and kicked out the original owner of the small print business. I knew I was next… still … Oh … now … the fake Christian asshole ex-boss has been on the brink of bankruptcy a few times. His business is failing. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy. If they laid you off in such a bad way, likely they weren’t nice to work for. Good luck on your job search. You deserve better.
Unbelievable. I am so sorry Jen, Prycer and Nanette that you have/had to go through this. Glad you got through is Nannete. Jen and Prycer you will get through this too. I know it’s hard and scary, but before you know it, you will be settled in a new job that you love.
*through it Nanette..
I just moved to another small town here in my state, and this weekend was the Ham Festival. I was so excited to go! I had been drooling over the thought of a country ham sandwich with pickles. But my little baby came down with a cold, so I had stay home. My mom came through and took my 5 year son to it because he was devastated about missing it. I have trying to go to this local event for years and something always happens. Maybe next year. At least I got to stay in my pj’s all day on a Saturday.
I hope there is ham at the ham festival. There were no almonds at our almond festival and no walnuts at the Walnut Festival.
My mom reported back to me that there were no ham sandwiches at the ham festival. Why is this a running theme?
A ham festival sounds delicious. I am not a ham lover, but I would totally enjoy some different types of delicious ham. Glad your babies are doing good. I love babies/toddlers and old people the best! I also like everyone in-between, so I guess I just like people. Cherish your kids. Glad you have your mom to help give you some rest… which is nice and needed!
Thank you Laila! We (my 4 person family) recently moved out of my mom’s house after having to move into her house for 10 months. It was hard as hell for us grown ups, being in our late 30’s with two young kiddos. But now my husband has his dream job and life is finally looking up.
Oh that is wonderful to hear! I remember over the summer you said you moved. Sometimes to get to the end goal, we have to make some sacrifices first. That is so great that your husband found his dream job, he’s lucky. Celebrate and cherish such a happy time. xo
I totally just cracked about the ham festival. And I am from the south, I am so sorry you missed it and even more sorry I did. I love living in a world where some people get to go to a ham festival though,
Damn woman! You aren’t that far from that ham fest! I am miles away, already considering next year! Banjo CAN travel in a car!
I should add, I’ve always been a rambling rose so to speak but got held up by “adulting, parenting and partnering.” I kinda suck at all of the above and have also been particularly successful at all of the above.
HAM FEST SOUNDS GREAT! But some how Banjo turned out to be a very mean dog who will eat your face off if you come near me.
I knew that you would appreciate a small town ham festival. It sounds crazy to non southerners, but i have been dying to go for years. My mom told me that I would have hated it though. The streets were not ideal for strollers, it was muddy, the food truck she stood in line for 30 minutes was cash only.
Funny BB story. My mom went to same festival several years ago and got to meet Beast Mode Cowboy. It was after right after his season had ended. The season with he who shall not be named. Anyway, my mom said he was very nice and polite.
Caleb! Just remembered his actual name.
I always love a BB sighting. Thanks! He seemed like a nice guy.
Good for you Tamara! One of the toughest parts of being an entrepreneur is taking breaks. It’s so easy to work all. the. time. I respect your limits and will check back when your back in the office 🙂
I miss Paris! I never knew I’d fall in love with it as much as I did.
Glad you are feeling better. Now, come see me. We can go visit Captain Lee.
Meh I am probably bothering Captain Lee too much already, I sent him breakfast from Ann’s today, Probably way too stalkerish,
Also, I cried without ceasing the first time I went to Paris as an adult . IT IS SO PERFECT, EVERY LITTLE THING IS PERFECT. I must admit I still SOB A LOT, Happy tears, so glad you got to go,
I get it! I completely get it!
I swear Paris was never even on my radar. This anniversary trip was supposed to be to the Amalfi Coast. Then, really cheap airfare fell in my lap.
So we went.
I’ll be back. Soon.
I’m sure they loved breakfast from Anns. Her windows are spectacular over the holidays. I’ll send you photos!
TT, I watched the Handmaid’s Tale this past weekend. If you haven’t’ watched it, I highly recommend it to you. It is as good as Killing Eve.
sadly i don’t netflix
