Married To Medicine Recap: Girl Code Interrupted

October 13, 2019 by tamaratattles 25 Comments

BY: POPCULTUREKELLY

Is everyone ready for their week’s Married To Medicine Recap? This week looks to be a doozy. Catch up on last week if you need so you can be fully prepared for the drama! We begin with Heavenly and Damon having a talk about Toya’s birthday party. Daddy has some issues with it. He doesn’t like that he heard about the naked models from the guys and not from his wife. Producers shade Heavenly when she tries to say that she didn’t want to partake with the nude models. They show Heavenly calling over one of them “little boys” (as she called them) over to get an up close view. Purely for her art. Look, it was innocent. Heavenly should have told Damon, but didn’t. That is surprising to me.

Jackie makes breakfast for the ladies as they are all meeting at Jackie’s to leave for Savannah. Jackie is happy that she and Mariah are in a better place. She hopes it lasts. The ladies are all upset that Aydin blabbed to the guys about the naked models. Oh Buffie is going along on this trip too. The bus arrives so they all get on the bus to embark on their 4 hour journey to Savannah.

The Longest Drive

The ladies tease Heavenly about her participation with the naked models. Simone congratulates Toya on moving into her house. Heavenly sees no reason to congratulate Toya on building a house. I don’t understand that. That was kind of nasty, no?  The argument doesn’t last long, but the drive seemed to.

They arrive at their destination, a historic house from 1890. It looks beautiful. Toya says it reminds her of Heavenly’s house, old and historic but without the character. Gina, the house hostess, greets the ladies and regales them with tales of ghosts living there. There are only 5 bedrooms so the ladies have to share. Jackie and Contessa, Buffie and Simone, Mariah and Toya, and Heavenly and Quad will share a room. The ladies are all creeped out by the thought of ghosts. Mariah covers the mirrors in order to protect herself and Toya.

Rewriting Girl Code

The ladies all get ready in their best white ensembles for Jackie’s white party dinner. They begin with a prayer. The buffet looks so good. I need some good southern comfort food in my life. Contessa gets a text message from Scott who says he’s going away for a few days for a friend’s birthday. Toya and Jackie nail it with Contessa being passive aggressive with Scott. Neither should make any moves without consulting the other. Period.

Jackie wants to get down to business with trying to heal the group. Mariah says they’ve tried this over and over for years and nothing changes. Quad says this is a reset for all of them. They all write down one girlfriend code that the group should adhere to. Someone wrote that she needs honesty. Mariah is honestly hurt that she was accused of doing drugs. Jackie is put on the spot about not researching before repeating it on the podcast. She apologizes so they can move on.

You Light Up My Life

Quad had written down something about being received, but the tea here is that her divorce is nearly finalized! That’s great news for her. Buffie has a history of not having close girlfriends as she is Just. Too. Successful. Ummm…okay. I was starting to like her too. Jackie passes around a candle for each lady to light as a symbol to light up each other’s life.

Dinner ends so the ladies all leave the table, except for Toya and Quad. Toya tells Quad that Mariah is still hurt by her drug accusation. Quad says it’s the God’s honest truth. In a flashback we see Mariah getting a drug test done! They take the hair and are able to run it for up to 10 years past. This is to prove to the group that she hasn’t done drugs. Toya says that both Quad and Mariah have too much nastiness between them to even try to repair that friendship. I agree.

Revival and Rebuke

On the bus ride home, Mariah says that she’s hurt  that no one has stuck up for her with Quad’s accusation. Heavenly pipes up immediately that she believes Quad. Heavenly says that Mariah made up that she had receipts on Daddy cheating, among other damaging accusations toward the group. Somehow Heavenly and Toya argue to the point Heavenly has to be restrained. I couldn’t understand what they were saying, something about your mama. Jackie can’t find her key to the front door so they are left to argue on the porch. Jackie and Buffie are mortified.

They finally get in the house. Mariah calls Aydin crying about how hurt she is. Toya comforts her, which was sweet. I love this kind, maternal side of Toya. Everyone feels bad for Mariah (to a point) but they know that the friendship between Quad and Mariah is too complex to heal. Jackie feels that the ladies are two teams that hang out together. They are not a unified group. Mariah feels that they all hate her so she feels on the outs all the time. Toya prays with Mariah which was sweet way to end the episode.

Next Time…

Next week on Married to Medicine: Scott and Contessa’s relationship is discussed. A dinner with masks happens. I am watching What What Happens Live because Simone and Toya are on. I’ll give the highlights as they happen. Hair and makeup look great, outfits not so much. Ugh again Andy mentions how he likes the new theme song. The ladies agree. Still a big fat NOPE on that. Andy asks what the ladies thought about Heavenly protesting too much about the nude models. They say she talks out of both sides of her mouth. Both Simone and Toya say she had a GREAT time.

Andy wants to know why Heavenly was so mean about Toya’s house. Toya says she could be jealous. Neither Toya or Simone believe the drug accusation. Then, they play a game about which lady would be the worst friend and all the answers are Heavenly. They feel she’s a hater. A caller asks if Contessa quitting school was a smart thing and Simone says no. She paid her tuition so why quit. Toya said that she should have gone to school in Atlanta. Simone and Quad don’t talk anymore! Oh snap! Cecil and Greg still hang out (as I reported a few weeks back). Then, they play a game where they ladies paint on a half naked man’s stomach. Toya wrote a children’s book that she gifts to Andy for baby Ben. Ok that’s all I got. Thank you for reading, we shall discuss further in the comments!

Regarding Mariah you can’t throw stones and not expect someone to throw them back. She has spread rumors about others so what do you expect. Sorry not sorry, I don’t feel sorry for her.

I agree with you. I cannot stand Mariah! The best season of M2M was the one that nasty, ugly, lying hag was out. She expects everyone to kiss her ass but she never apologizes for what she done ever. She needs to get off that high horse she put herself on.

I don’t agree at all. Yes both ladies have done some terrible things to one another BUT, no one holds Quad to the same standard they hold Mariah. Its because to a certain extent they don’t like Mariah so they deal with Quad the lesser of the 2 evils.

This. When the Quad/Mariah split first happened, a majority of the cast was also mad at Mariah. So, when Quad made her very calculated “her or me” demand, it was a no brainer that they were going to choose the cast mate they weren’t arguing with, too. Now they are stuck with the giant ego they helped create by pandering to her back then.

OMG!!! ALL OF THIS!!! This is how I feel about the Quad / Mariah ongoing beef. Quad LOVES it because she is NEVER held accountable for the things she says or does when it’s against Mariah.

Heavenly used to be my favorite but I can’t stand her anymore. She believes Quad is the star of the show and would do anything to be in her good books.Am actually loving Mariah and Toya more this season. As for Quad, I feel like she is very unforgiving and vindictive

100% agree about Heavenly. I couldn’t figure out why she attached herself to Quad but your right. She thinks she is the star and she wants to steal some shine.

I don’t understand how Quad is still on the show. She is no longer married to medicine. I find her shady. Mariah is a major rumour spreader and she is getting here’s with the drug accusation. I don’t get why Contessa hates on Toya so much. Anyways I love this show. Great recap.

Toya / Contessa — it’s history. Toya was having some party. Contessa had re-established a relationship with her father. Her father was very sick so Contessa stayed with him. Scott attended the party in her stead. He gave Contessa’s regrets to Toya. Toya called Contessa and put her on blast over a speaker for all to hear. Toya’s immaturity started the whole cycle.

Weelllllll… That’s starting the story from the middle. Toya was already hurt by Contessa for the shady comments Contessa made to Jackie about the “back in the black” party she and Wugene threw a few seasons ago. Toya wanted an apology; Contessa was dismissive and acted like Toya was over-reacting. *end of season*

*beginning of next season* Toya is having a party (was it a b’day party for either her or Eugene…?) and then we are where you started, Nanette.

Toya was so sweet with Mariah. Toya’s prayer was beautiful. They cut a lot of Mariah’s hair, what more does Heavenly and Quad want from Mariah to prove she isn’t using drugs? There are no words for Buffy’s entitlement. She shouldn’t have friends with her superiority attitude.

    So much to unpack.

Heavenly sucks. She totally inserted herself into that conversation on the bus about/with Mariah. Toya was right. She also hates on the other women when they find success. She is mean and vindictive. She is constantly trying to prove that everything about her is right and the best.

Quad is hard to figure out. I love and hate her. She is so unforgiving. She just holds on to grudges with both hands and her feet. It’s crazy. I do not believe the drug stuff. But I totally understand her wanting everyone to butt out of her business. I am the same way, so I get that. Also, when she says something is done, it’s done. All these attempts to fix something only work if both sides want it fixed. Quad doesn’t. Leave it alone.

Buffy is not a fun new addition. I dislike her immensely. I agree with the poster above, her entitlement is off the charts and no fun to watch. She can go now.

I tried watching this show a few times but can’t get past the fact that doctors delivering babies are constantly fighting with their friends. Their behavior is so unbecoming.

Married to Medicine is one of my favorite Bravo franchises. Among the couples, I enjoy Toya and Eugene’s dynamic the most. I think it’s time Quad and Mariah are both shown the exits. They bring nothing to the show but a toxic hatred for each other that is not going to be cured anytime soon. I have never seen a group of women turn social gatherings into group therapy/healing/forgiveness/yada yada yada ceremonies in my life. Too much Oprah and Iyanla new age mumbo jumbo for my taste. And the women being scared of ghosts in the home was pretty damn funny. Reminded me of Heavenly’s freak out over the voodoo shop in Nola last season.

RHOA opened the gate on this with the sex dungeon date rape nonsense and now others are following suit. I cannot get down with people making slanderous statements about cast members for a story line. Rape, drugs, trains, STD’s, and probably more to come all cross the line for me. These are real people who will need to return to some life and profession once their 15 minutes are over. I’m sad this show has gone down this path.

I don’t watch this show but I just watched the Savannah episode because I stupidly thought we would see some of Savannah. BeakerSqueaker summed up my reaction nearly completely.

I felt sorry for Mariah but I don’t know who these women are. Every time Kelly sends me a a recap I remind here to lavel the photos with the ladies names because I can’t keep them straight. It seems like even the nice ones were mean on this episode.

What puzzles me is why — IF Quad slept with Mariah’s brother-in-law and lived with a drug dealer and whatever else Mariah says — she brought Quad onto the show. I do not remember what their big falling out was about, but I do remember when they met in a restaurant that Mariah showed her violent side.

As far as the hair testing: Hair grows about half an inch every month, That’s six inches a year. To test 10 years back your hair would need to be 60 inches. Mariah’s hair looked about 8 inches long. That’s only 1.5 years.

The bigger question is WHO CARES if Mariah did coke years ago? I understand why Mariah cares — especially if it isn’t true — but the rest … get over it, it’s in the past.

I agree with everything you said. Hair sheds all the time. Is it possible to have the same strands of hair for 10 years? I would think no but I’m not a hair stylist. Also Mariah wears weaves so is it possible that weave hair was cut? Imo no one is standing up for Mariah due the stories that she has told about others. I don’t for one minute think Quad slept with Lake’s husband. Interesting how Mariah hasn’t brought it up again.

I truly love your recaps. The problem with the show. After seven seasons, numerous attempts trying to be friends, they just grow into forcing friendships, they dont want. They have less in common and more separately in their lives.
I’m reading and enjoying recaps as my mind sees them. Watching them, it’s inauthentic.
There’s not the sincere caring of each other .
But your recaps are perfect, because they come across as they always have.
Thank you for keeping them who I know, lol.

My wish to the reality gods is that they pick another three women to go at it because, for real, I can not take Quad, Mariah, and Heavenly screaming at each other any more. Their voices, especially Heavenly, could top a freight train. No disrespect , but YIKES!
I loved the girl code, except that Mariah is right, this has happened almost every season in some form of another. Dr. J doesn’t give u I will give her that.
I thought Daddy was so cute with his being upset about the male models. It looked to me like all the girls were having just a fine time, as would have I. (wink)
I cannot lie, I am a bit shocked with this Scott and Contessa story line. They seemed so tight. Now, the little revelation at dinner last night that he likes to go out and party a lot and that was why he didn’t want her at school”? Hummmmm…….makes me sad.

Hi Kelly! Great recap! Hugs to you!
