Married To Medicine Recap: Ballin’ On A Budget

September 30, 2019 by tamaratattles 36 Comments

BY: POPCULTUREKELLY

It’s that time of the week again: Married to Medicine recap time! Full disclosure, my zoo was hit with a virus so I’m hopped on cold medicine and the promise of an amazing episode. Let’s hope these women deliver their much needed dose of medicine! We begin with Jackie coming home to home cooked water, courtesy of Curtis. They are on a mission of creating the perfect home. They love the location of this house. Now it just has to be rebuilt to fit Jackie’s high standards. It’s a high price to pay (literally) for Jackie’s happiness. They disagree on a lot but in the end, Jackie will have the house of her dreams.

Contessa and her family have a picnic at the park. Contessa’s children clearly miss her. I’m wondering if Contessa really understands that? She wants Scott to fully take over her role in her absence, which includes lots of love and affection. He can hug them all day long but it won’t take the place of their mom not being there. Outside looking in, it seems like Contessa has guilt about going to Nashville but can’t admit it. So she takes it out on Scott by pointing out how he’s not doing it all wrong. This pop culture PHD is going to take me far! It’s tough to watch a nice family in strife. I hope they figure it out soon.

Decent Party Themes Are Taxing

All the women get ready for the “end of the tax season” that friend of the show Buffie is throwing. Simone and Quad will see each other for the first time since their meeting at the restaurant last week. Oh snap, Bufife has a live in house manager named Sylvia. Where do you get one of those? God my zoo needs one. The current one isn’t working out. Yes, the current one is me.

Anywho, her house is fabulous. Everyone arrives ballin’ with an under 500 dollar outfit budget, per the party rules. Simone greets Quad warmly. They talk briefly and decide to be cool for the evening. (Fun fact: I did a Twitter deep dive this weekend. Simone had a birthday party for Cecile. Only Toya, Eugene and DR. GREG went from the show. Simone and Quad do not follow each other on the Twitter. I think this will be important as the season goes on).

Under 500 Dolla Will Make You Holla

All the ladies gather outside on the couches. Heavenly points out that House Manager Sylvia is very attractive. She wonders if Sylvia manages Buffie’s husband as well. Joseline Hernandez shows up. She and Toya spar about what to call motherhood. I’m honestly confused as to how this is an argument and that it spiraled so quickly, but it did. Joseline seems like she targeted Toya for a fight.

Mariah moves Toya to the bathroom to cool her down. While Toya is in the bathroom, Joseline approached Eugene to call Toya a ho. Eugene is pissed so he and Toya leave. Buffie apologizes to both Eugene and Toya. That being said, Buffie seems kind of in on this attack. But why? I’m just plain confused. Is there a Toya/Joseline thing we should know about? Or a Toya/Buffie thing? Are we missing a backstory here?

Click Her For More Married To Medicine Recaps!

The next day Toya and Mariah meet up for coffee. Toya is still upset about the party. She feels that Buffie didn’t have her back so as far as she’s concerned, Buffie is nonexistent. Toya is planning an art themed birthday party for herself. I don’t think Buffie will make the guest list.

Married To Medicine RecapMessy Boots Are Made For Walking

Contessa and Scott are at home doing parent stuff with the kids. Contessa has a talk with her oldest daughter who is having some anger issues. It seems to stem from Contessa’s absence. Contessa has a beautiful family. I don’t know what to say about it other than that.

It’s Toya’s birthday party. The ladies are going to paint nude male models. Ahhh Kari Wells from season 1 is here! I have missed her and pronunciation of Duncan. She is shocked to see Mariah and Toya in a friendly place. Everyone is as happy to see Kari as I am. Toya is SHADY! She refers to Quad as Nene’s sister in that blonde wig. I cannot finish this recap. RIP me, officially deceased. Spirit PCK is coming through to let you know that messy Simone is bringing Buffie to the party, despite Toya telling her not to.

Simone Gets Messy

Simone’s all out ignorance of Toya’s clear request has resuscitated your girl here. Simone, Simone, Simone we see you! Messy as hell. Toya specifically told Simone not to bring Buffie. Toya is not pleased when Buffie arrives, but she doesn’t make a scene.

Click Her For More Married To Medicine Recaps!

Making pointed jabs at Simone,Toya gives a speech about how she lost the baby. She wants to feel positivity in her life again. Buffie gives Toya a sincere condolence on all she’s been through lately. Then the male models come out naked as the day they were born. The ladies are shocked! They weren’t expecting this. Heavenly won’t tell Daddy…which will bite her in the butt next week.

Next week on Married to Medicine:

The women have fun at the nude art party;  Fallout from Heavenly withholding the nude men from Daddy; Contessa drops out of school. This dose of Married to Medicine was indeed just what the doctor ordered! Thank you all for reading. I cannot wait to discuss this further in the comments!

PS: I’m watching WWHL with Jackie and Heavenly. Thank you Nannette for the heads up! Quick synopsis: They all love the new theme song which I just say WRONG. Heavenly seems to have new front teeth? Yup confirmed that she has new teeth. Heavenly feels Toya was set up by Buffie with the whole Joseline thing, which makes sense. It really seemed to have come out of nowhere. All the guys are still friends with Dr. Greg. Toya tweets in that she was indeed set up by Buffie. That’s the gist!

I cant believe they allowed Joseline on this show, even if it was for two minutes. I mean, she no where close to the level of the ladies on this show. She accused her daughter’s father of sexually abusing his other daughter, which is disturbing. Anyone who would want to be associated with her has a screw loose.

Heavenly is so ridiculous but it is entertaining to watch. Who would assume the house manager is taking care of the husband in a sexual way?

WTF with that attack on Toya from Joseline (and Buffy?) that seemed out of nowhere? After Heavenly said on WWHL (you are most welcome, PCK ♥️) that she thought Buffie had something to do with it, I REALLY think Simone had her shady self in it too. Since the beginning, I’ve thought Simone was the biggest sidewinder shit-stirrer. Unless it was production, SHAME on her for bringing Buffie to Toya’s party. Dr. Eugene showed restraint in calling Joseline “Hood Chick,” I would have called her Hood Cunt. (No Jackie and Curtis at Cecil’s bday? Did Jackie finally see the real Simone?)

Something that has befuddled me for years, is the squealing, juvenile behavior from grown women at the sight of a nude male. Maybe because I came of age in the 1960s, with free love, nude beaches, etc. I just don’t ge it. I do appreciate a beautiful male (yoohoo Jon Moody!) whether clothed or not. But the SQUEALING, just STOP.

Nanette, my MVP this week! ❤️ Thank you again. It was so strange and uncalled for. Eugene was amazing as always. He knows he a physician on tv so he has to behave a certain way. He’s not stooping to that level for anyone. Hood CUNT ?NOPE! No Jackie or Curtis. Could have been a scheduling conflict, they do follow each other on the Twitter. Or maybe there’s more coming to this season? Haha I get being shocked because none of them expected that, but yeah grow up. Jon Moody!!!! Sigh. That man is just yummmmmmmm!!

LA, did she? I googled her quickly because I didn’t know who she was…it wasn’t flattering what came up. It feels producer driven to me which I don’t get. These ladies have enough conflict on their own, we don’t need an interloper to cause more!

Yes, she did! I dont want to give it any more light, but she made that statement on social media. What kind of sick fuck says that but doesn’t report it to the police? Anyway, I was just shocked because M2M is not that kind of show. These women are relatable. I love that the topics covered are real issues and problems that women experience.

I was confused as hell about the Buffie/Joseline drama it really did come out of nowhere. I don’t remember either of them from previous episodes but perhaps it was just party scenes from a few years ago. I’d never remember that.

    Thanks for recapping PCK!

I don’t like Simone. She’s one of the few people that knew about Toya’s loss, yet she disrespected her and brought Buffie to her party regardless of her wishes. Simone’s agenda was clearly more important than being a good friend, throughout Toya’s difficult time.

I think Simone is getting worse as time goes by. I used to think it was just drunken Simone, but I think she has the shadiness in her DNA. Her meaness and superior attitude really came out at the crab boil when she called Quad “this little girl” and berated her for not sharing everything about her breakup. Maybe because Quad knew she would betray her to whiny Greg, or she didn’t want to talk shit about him to HIS friends. Now, I wonder why Dr. Jackie and Curtis were not at Cecil’s birthday party. Great sleuthing, PCK.

Simone truly disappointed me this week. For her to cause trouble for Toya when she knew what’s she’s been going through was messed up. I’ve always liked Simone but my eyes are wide open to her now.

Simone can be petty. I like her though. Her laugh is infectious.

Toya seems to be trying to get along while Quad continues to believe herself better than the others.

Jackie is the saint, and Heavenly is a major shit stirrer.

Contessa is weird. She questions her kids but seems to not understand them. They miss their mom. Either accept it or stop it. All the talk won’t change their legitimate feelings.

The whole Contessa thing bothers me too. I don’t want to generalize(this applies to my experience only!) but having military family and some exes, the military people I know have a hard time understanding the importance of stability. For them it’s no big deal to pick up and move or go away for periods of time because it’s what they know. I’m not sure if that’s the disconnect there? Contessa is a loving mom, no doubt about that. I just wish she understood where her kids are coming from.

I hope her children are okay. Reality tv is not kind to children then with mom gone and dad resentful. . . .
          I’m rooting for them though.

I’m not sure why Contessa needed to attend school in Nashville for her public health degree. This almost reeks of a storyline she and her husband came up with for the season.
Emory University is Atlanta has Public health school and some courses are offered online.

I love her but her out of state school is bogus. Plus, last year she reduced her work schedule to be home more with the children. The only way the out of state school makes sense is that it’s for a storyline.

She and her husband are so grounded, she had to know her family would suffer. They are still my favorite family.

Simone’s family is great despite Simone.

          Buffy and Joseline-please leave.

          Thanks for your recap.
Sorry for the long post. You can see I put a lot of thought into Contessa, she’s my girl and I’m used to her making good choices. I’m trying to make it make sense.

I think my issue with Contessa is that she whined about not spending time with her kids and reduced her schedule to do so. I know for a fact that that there are public health options online because I participated. Scott is having to adjust his and the children’s lives to accommodate her and all she does is talk down to and about him. I definitely think that is the guilt making her act that way.

I wasn’t raised by parents in the military but we moved alot 5 times before I went to college (when I made my first move), my parents still have moved quite a few times in my absence!

I joined the Army in ’83, I’d run out of money (Fine Arts, painting major in college) and wouldn’t ask for help, had a great friend who had joined the USMC right out of HS, we’d stayed in touch? since we were kids… I walked into a recruiting station with every intention of joining the USAF, recruiter was at lunch, I joined the Army. That only fed my addiction to move. I’m acting out now, I’ve been one place too long and I did it ON purpose. But my reasons for staying put are dwindling.

I understand being a young mother with dreams and ability. Is there a perfect scenario for them to work out? Probably, I see a lot of what I wanted to be in Contessa but ultimately set aside and not with super great outcomes and the amount of personal sacrifice it has affected me to this day…I’m proud of her for seeking out her dream in the world, proud of her even when she messes up with her kids and husband. Life is a fricking journey, bad days happen, bad decisions happen and another day comes if you’re lucky.

I hope this young couple with such beautiful children can teach their children to not be afraid to step out and be themselves.

We are hoping she took a break, but usually she checks out with a message. If you have a better way to reach her, would you please. I have never liked Simone, she always seemed like a pain. I know I don’t follow enough to comment much but I always felt like she didn’t put enough into relationships including her marriage.

I am starting to get shades of the HW”S with these women and I don’t like it. Everyone (the women) seem to be on their own mission to make their marks.
Simone is just soooooo nasty. Each season she gets messier and messier. Cecil is a sweetheart next to her lately. I just don’t like the bad Simone. Good Simone is fun and kind. I still wish Dr. Jackie could be my Dr. She is so sweet. Even if she wants to bankrupt her and Cecil with renovations LOL
I feel so bad for Toya. That is just heartbreaking and seems like it’s running through the housewives as well. It is very sad for her family. I do love her family. They are so adorable.
I am glad the guys are still hanging out together. They really make this show nice. Course, I am sure they have their moments. But…so far…so good.
It just seems like Mariah and or Quad always are angry at someone for something. It’s their thing. Mariah has been better this year. She and her hubs are kind of cute too.
I am excited to see Daddy giving Heavenly a hard time. That will be worth the whole episode. I do hope Contessa is ok and not resentful about quitting and taking it out on her family. She really should have thought this through a little more. Her husband was wonderful to step in and support her the way he did. A lot of people (men and women) don’t have that.
I hope you have recovered from your strenuous day…LOL. Great recap PCK. You ROCK!!!!

I agree that the “cheap” outfit theme was pretentious. But pretentious is what Buffy is — she spent all her screen time trying to be old money, yet spent the whole time showing off her money. Who invites their house manager to a party and to little group discussions at the party? Only someone trying to show off that they have a house manager (which I think is just a pretentious way of describing her housekeeper). And Buffie showed more of her thirstiness by introducing that Joseline to insult Toya. WTF was that? Two women unknown to the audience and all of a sudden they are creating the most drama. So manufactured and fake.

Contessa has some things she needs to work out. She just comes off as a person who believes the grass is greener on the other side. Last season (I think) she went part time because she only got the evening with her children. This season she relocates and doesn’t see them for days. That doesn’t make logical sense.
