It’s Married to Medicine recap time y’all! What does everyone thinks of the new theme song? I am not a fan. I loved the old one, with the heavy beats and breathy-voiced intro. The new one is rushed in my opinion. I digress. Let’s dive in to this week’s drama! We begin where we ended last week with Simone tearin’ ass out of the restaurant, leaving Quad in the dust. Simone/Maserati out! Quad is shocked that her 8,000 rehash of the crab boil didn’t go well. Simone races home to tell Cecil that she cannot believe Quad came to fight. Cecil is disappointed at how things went down, as is Simone.
Mariah is preparing some snacks for the arrival of Toya and Lake. Are we trying to make Lake happen? They rehash the Emergent Tea party. Toya feels like everyone skirted around their issues. Mariah is still upset with Jackie for bringing up the drug accusations. Toya regrets not addressing Contessa calling Eugene a big p*ssy bitch. I mean, the time to bring it up would have been when Contessa said it. That would be the day that anyone said that about my husband and I just sat there. No ma’am.
A Women’s Place Is Wherever She Wants To Be
Simone and Jackie meet up for lunch. Jackie butters Simone up with some flowers before addressing some unpleasantness. Jackie is sick of being in the middle of Simone and Heavenly’s fight. Since Jackie is friends with both of them, she just wants them to reconcile. Simone is still really upset that Heavenly disrespected Cecil on the Twitter. Simone tells Jackie that she will rekindle her friendship with Heavenly as soon as Jackie rekindles hers with Mariah. Game. Set. Match.
Heavenly pays Contessa a visit at her home where Contessa’s kids are playing chess. Heavenly tells us that she was a chess champion, a world UFC champion, a champion of all championship’s champion…the list truly goes on. While having drinks outside, Contessa attempts to confide in Heavenly about her marriage woes with Scott. Heavenly, being Heavenly, tells Contessa that her place as a wife is to be home with her family. Contessa can’t help but see the hypocrisy as Heavenly is a working mom who is not staying home catering to her husband’s every whim.
I get (to a point) where Heavenly is coming from as it has to be difficult on Scott and the kids to have Contessa gone so much. I feel that way when I see some househusbands do the same thing (Bryan, Brandi’s husband on Dallas comes to mind). Ultimately, this is something that Contessa feels she must do to further her career. It’s just too bad that it couldn’t be closer to home.
We then go to Toya and Eugene’s house where Toya is helping those cute little boys with homework. The boys have been acting out since the miscarriage happened. They all have been hurting since it happened so Toya wants them all to discuss their feelings. Awe, one of their sons is angry that the baby “died”. Eugene uses clinical, scientific terms that the boys seem to understand. Their boys are so cute. Eugene is confident that time will help heal. Again, sending all of them love.
Simone is at home with Cecil and her grown boys. She is having a hard time with all of them living under one roof. Simone is having a meeting with them to remind them of the rules of her house. I feel her pain as life here at the zoo is chaotic and messy. Drives me nuts. Cecil and their boys turn the meeting around on her with lists of how Simone can do better. Cute scene with a loving family.
Heavenly and Alaura are in Heavenly’s closet. Oh Alaura is so grown and beautiful! No Heavenly, she is going to attempt a sex talk on national tv with this poor girl! Damon comes in so the sex talk stops. Damon and Heavenly lament on how Alaura is growing up so she doesn’t want to hang out with them much. It happens and it’s hard.
Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong
Jackie goes to visit Quad at her house where she is cooking for Jackie. Quad tells Jackie how the dinner went with Simone. Jackie advises Quad to let it go. Jackie wants Quad to own what she did wrong in that dinner but Quad can’t do that. I’m not sure what Quad means when she says she can “receive Simone whole”. I guess we will see soon enough.
GOOD FOOD IS GOOD MOOD
Simone and Mariah meet up for drinks and dinner. Simone allows Mariah to have a sip of her drink before telling her that she is ambushing her with a meeting with Jackie and Heavenly. Mariah takes it surprisingly well. Heavenly was also unaware of this meeting so she is unhappily surprised. They all order their respective dinner which sounds fantastic. Jackie starts by addressing Mariah’s issue with her. Mariah calmly tells Jackie that she is hurt that Jackie never asked for Mariah’s side of the story. Jackie apologizes.
Heavenly take her cue by offering a blanket apology to the table. Simone tells Heavenly that she is hurt that she tweeted about their private conversation. Heavenly is adamant that she did not betray her confidence. Heavenly couldn’t believe that Cecil would tweet at her with such disregard. Things get heated with a lot of talking over each other. Mariah takes Simone to the bathroom to calm her down.
Mariah advises Simone to just forgive Heavenly. Heavenly cannot get over Simone trying to compare Cecil and Damon. According to Heavenly there is no comparison: Damon is the better man. Simone and Mariah go back to the table. Simone is brought to tears. She just wants Heavenly to know how much her words can hurt her. Heavenly apologizes to Simone, genuinely. Truces were made, though all involved wonder how long they will last.
