Y’ALL We really need to talk about Luann de Lesseps. I have no idea where to begin. I could not even figure out a title for this post. Let’s begin with her newfound desire for charitable work. Or so I foolishly thought. I had read that Luann was partnering with two charities. They seemed rather odd choices for Luann, but good charities nonetheless. So good for Luann I thought. And went about my business.
Before we go any further, here are the two charities. One is to stop bullying of children in schools and online. The other is to assist incarcerated people on their reentry to society and to reduce the number of incarcerations. Two great causes. But neither seems like Luann, right?
Well as it turns out, Luann was just part a comedy podcast filming that was selling tickets to promote these two charities. Let’s presume for a minute that this just wasn’t another attention seeking moment for Luann. That it isn’t like her AA meetings where she talked about probably everything about herself other than her sobriety.
First A Word About The Charities
Stomp Out Bullying works to reduce and prevent bullying, cyberbullying and other digital abuse, educates against homophobia, LGBTQ discrimination, racism and hatred, and deters violence in schools, online and in communities across the country. In this diverse world, STOMP Out Bullying promotes civility, inclusion and equality. It teaches effective solutions on how to respond to all forms of bullying, as well as educating kids and teens in school and online.
The Fortune Society’s mission is to support successful reentry from incarceration and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities.
And Now Luann de Lesseps Feels Wrongly Incarcerated
“I care deeply about Stomp Out Bullying and I care deeply about The Fortune Society. And I feel like it can happen to anybody… and you know helping women get their lives back after something happens like that, and having been there and done it. I feel for them and I really want to help women who for the most part are incarcerated for non-violent crimes.”
Luann was not arrested for a non-violent crime. She was thrown in the drunk tank for a nine hours and ten minutes to sober up. Then Bethenny got her the best attorney money can buy and set her to a fancypants rehab that was like a Four Seasons without any wet bars. The horror!
Luann de Lesseps Feels Bullied By Police
Luann then talks to In Touch about how she was bullied by the police. “I mean I got arrested for being drunk in my own hotel,” she said, before calling the incident “absolutely” a form of bullying. “Wouldn’t you [call it that]?”
Um, let’s revisit her arrest shall we? According to testimony by the assistant state’s attorney, the Countess slammed a door and kicked at least one police officer. She also screamed at presumably everyone within ear shot, “I’m going to kill you all!”
Luann was a registered guest of the hotel booked into room 327. She had apparently spent a lot of time in the bar because she had picked up some unidentified male who it appears she thought she was taking back to her room. The pair entered room 407 as the maid was finishing turndown service on Saturday night.
Luann de Lesseps Batters A Police Officer
When the police arrived at 9:20 p.m., the unidentified male was gone and Luann was still there with her friend, Julie Olson. According to the report both of them were really drunk. Julie left when the police told her to, but Luann opted to lock herself in the bathroom.
She finally opened the door when the security guard used a key to unlock the door. Then she allegedly shoved one of the police officers in the chest with her palm, then slammed the door on his face, The door hit him in the forehead.
Luann was eventually handcuffed and put in the back seat of a police car. But she was not done yet. She managed to get her handcuffs off and tried to escape from the patrol car. She started screaming, “I’m going to kill you! I’m going to kill all of you!” according to the report. She continued screaming that she was “going to fucking kill all of you” all the way to the Palm Beach police station where she tossed into a holding cell.
Despite all of that, Luann seems thrilled by recent news that her arresting officer has himself been arrested recently.
“I just know that the police officer that arrested me got arrested. He’s in jail for making false arrests. You know, I don’t really wish revenge on anybody. I think things happen for a reason and for me, getting off probation and having this happen is vindicating in a certain way. But, I do take the responsibility of not acting the right way in front of a policeman. Absolutely, but I think it was handled very…it could’ve been handled better or differently.”
I think Kyle sums up my reaction…
