RHOC Disscussion Post: Family Affair

September 10, 2019 by tamaratattles 30 Comments

Gretchen Vicki Lizzie
Remember when VIcki brought Kelly into the fold?

Tuesday is trash day in my hood. So it somehow feels fitting that it is also the day that Orange County airs. I am continuing my boycott until someone tells me it is safe to go back in the water. I feel like train gate lasts the entire season and I want no part of that.

Here is the official description of tonight’s episode.

Emily is threatened by Gina’s growing friendship with Shannon. Tamra and Shannon coach Vicki on how to deal with Kelly on their upcoming trip to Arizona. Kelly deals with family issues, as her brother JR encourages her to fix her estranged relationships with her mom and younger brother. Gina is frustrated by Emily’s repeated efforts to convince her to join the Vegas trip. Kelly, Shannon and Tamra get to know Braunwyn’s eccentric mom over dinner as they try to convince Kelly to go on the group trip to Arizona.

I find Braunwyn’s mom fascinating. I’d like to see just that part.

This may be my favorite thing ever said on reality TV.

I hope you will all leave tons of comments and let me know how things are going.

In other news, we are having another heatwave in the ATL. When temps shoot up into the high nineties and don’t drop much overnight, my A/C can’t handle it. So I keep all of my blackout curtains drawn. And it’s still in the eighties inside. So I am exhausted. I plan to crash early tonight. So I am putting this up now. Perhaps I will finally get my sleep schedule back on track?

And by the way, I had no idea Kelly was estranged from her mom. Hmmm.

I live in ATL too. My upstairs air conditioner shit the bed Friday so we have been sweating our butts off all weekend while we TRY to sleep.
Just got a new system today! Yay! $5000 later ?

Girlfriend. I was raised in the Sahara desert! But this heat mixed with humidity… it is INSANE. WHEN WILL FALL COME? My house had no central heat and air when I moved in. I eventually put it in. I chose the smallest one, because my shack is only 1100 sq feet. I mean if any house is a candidate for the tiny system, it’s me, right? WRONG. Le sigh.

Check your air filter every month esp since you have a dog. Changing it out regularly can help reduce strain on the system. Doesn’t matter what filter maker says the change time is bc it is based on a smoke free, pet free, dust free house. I live in SC and this heat is brutal.

So true on the filters. You’d be surprised at all the holes for air seepage throughout your house just bring in whatever is out there.

AC is for ambient temp. Just as you need task lighting, your body requires localized cooling/heating for true comfort. You can use anything from fans to wet t-shirts. Both are very effective in cooling, just as longjohns, electric blankets, thrift shop men’s wool cardigans, turtlenecks, scarves, gloves, toy poodles & bald cats are for heating in the winter. I regularly use all of the above, depending on the season. I have recently added a snuggly man at night, though in the summer I also use him with a ceiling fan. When I lived alone I kept the AC at 78 & just super cooled the local area wherever I was working/relaxing, No need to overcool the entire house that was mostly empty. Conversely, in the winter, the temp was set at 68 & I dressed warmly & used a space heater wherever I was actually working or sitting. At night the beasties & I snuggled together under an electric blanket. My electric bill was always reasonable. Have I ever mentioned I am frugal?

Poodles for the win. When I saw “toy poodle” I burst out laughing, since I use mine to snuggle with. Even in the current heatwave, she is my velcro dog.
          Thanks for a great post.

I just moved to Las Vegas & have found localized cooling to work very well! After my first summer electric bill with my a/c set at 72, I started researching options. Unfortunately, a portable a/c won’t work b/c my windows slide left/right rather than up down. So I got a standing fan for for each room. Between that & the ceiling fan, I’m very comfortable with the air at 77. My bill this month will be $60 lower! So happy!

Why not buy a portable air conditioner unit? Ramona did at Heather’s house. It is portable, so you can take it from your living room to your bedroom. They are not that expensive on amazon.

Thanks for giving us this space to vent. I’ve decided to watch the rest of this OC season, then axe the HW franchise from my DVR recording sked. I almost bailed on this season but I figure the more disgusted I am, the firmer my resolve to not watch any RH. I will read the recaps, then MAYBE watch some isolated episodes. Or maybe not …

Speaking of disgusted, if you had watched last week, I do not think you would be fascinated by Braunwyn’s mom anymore. Unless you find dismissive narcissists fascinating, which I think you do not.

???? agree! My heart actually hurts for Brauwynn, because clearly she had a pretty crummy upbringing with a VERY self involved pathetic excuse for a mother. Reminds me of Lydia’s Mom, who was constantly high and sprinkling glitter fairy dust, except she accepted responsibility for her poor behaviour as a Mother. *Dr* Deb had a child and proceeded to continue to BE a child! That’s a crappy thing to do to a kid… I sure didn’t have it easy being a single Mom, but my daughter DESERVED the VERY best of me, 100% of the time, and she received it! EVERY child deserves this…

When she spoke to her Mom about her Mom allowing her children to be in the presence of her toxic aunt, something she had forbidden, and her Mom responded with “Look a bee! They’re pollinating!”; that said everything about their relationship.

I agree with you, Nanette. I don’t understand how a mother can just “turn off” the feelings her daughter is trying to express. I am not enamored of 1 thing about “Dr. Deb”…not her jewelry, not her multi-colored braids – NOTHING. If my doctor walked in to my exam room looking like that, I would politely say, I’ve got to go.

It’s been in the 50s here since late August and we had snow until the middle of May, so I feel like we are having opposite problems. Maybe we can change houses for a few weeks? You can bring Banjo to my house in the north and I’ll bring my giants to your house in the south.

Braunwyn’s mother lives in denial land. She dismisses and denies everything Braunwyn says and feels. Braunwyn tells her mother she broke her number 1 rule that her kids can’t be around their aunt because the aunts makes inappropriate comments and Braunwyn’s mother responds “oh look, there’s a bumble bee, the pollinators have come back”

I watched for 15 minutes. Any sympathy I had for Kelly and what her daughter is going through went right out the effing window when she announced to the boyfriend that she told Shannon that they had sex all morning. I can only imagine what Jolie’s classmates will be saying to her online and in school tomorrow. Who ya gonna blame now Kelly? Trash.

Kelly says far too much in front of her daughter. Also, the flashback to tamra warning Kelly about vicky at the reunion, I almost didn’t recognize Kelly. Her face is completely different.

I totally feel the scene where Gina is standing still on her trampoline surrounded by women jumping like crazy on their trampolines! She leaves the workout to go puke. Can’t we all relate to that?

I live in the Mountains of NC 81* here with no AC just ceiling fans and windows open. There are a few days a year that I actually want AC but most of the time of fine without it. I tend to feel stuffy if I’m closed indoors all the time.

I thought one of the worse parts of the night was Vikki trying to say I heard I’m not saying it I’m just repeating it to Tamar & Shannon. Vikki will never stop throwing people under the bus and then saying she didn’t say it she just repeated it !! And if course making fun of Braunwyn name calling her Brownwind. Shannon taking up for Vikki at the dinner table going so far as to walk away from the others & saying once you forgive vikki it’s much easier to get along with her..nope no never cause Vikki doesn’t change ever.

I don’t know which disgusts me more — the whole train debacle or “Dr Deb.” She is totally deafened by her thirst to be the center of attention. She is posting all over social media, answering everyone’s posts–continuing to enjoy her 15 minutes. What an awful person to have as a “mother.”

So I am friends with Deb. I’ve known her for years. We met through the burning man community. She is really sweet, really smart, loads of fun, generous to a fault. Is she perfect? Of course not. But Debs always ALWAYS been a prolific poster on social media. She is a responsible adult that remembers how important play is to a young heart and young mind.

Deb may be a good friend but she is not showing herself to be a good mom to Braunwyn. These last few epis have made me feel so bad for Braunwyn and Emily, who seem to be putting in a huge effort to make things work with family members while their mom and husband respectively reek of entitlement and insensitivity.

Also Tamra was ridiculous freaking out over Braunwyn hiding her attempts at being friends with Lizzie and Gretchen when Tamra has already made up with Vicki over the thing that made her mad at Lizzie and Gretchen in the first place.

I really wish they’d stop letting Shane do interviews. My god your wife takes care of the kids, works, has chronic pain from arthritis, just stop. Hes not funny, he’s mean and Emily could easily get a better man that isn’t a douche. Gina, seriously, you got a DUI, any empathy I had for you when out the window. Your kids should see you in cuffs for putting us and yourself at risk when you got behind the wheel, and I’m taking Emily’s side here. Tres amigas (3-4, whoever’s in it now) reminds me of the adult voices from the Peanuts cartoon.

I was living near the Colorado River for a couple of months in AZ with 110-115 temps daily, 40-50%, I about died. When you see excessive heat warnings weekly you wonder, who the hell likes summer, because I sure as hell don’t!
