90 Day Fiancé The Other Way

September 10, 2019 by tamaratattles 64 Comments

Deavan and Jihoon

Y’all! We need to talk about 90 Day Fiancé The Other Way on TLC. There seems to be a billion 90 Day Fiancé spinoffs, but 90 Day Fiancé The Other Way is by far my favorite. In this spin-off the American moves to the other country. The entire thing is insane.

A single mother has left her child behind temporarily to take her half-Korean baby to Korea to live with the baby daddy. After all sorts of promises about preparing for her arrival, she arrives to find that her Korean lover is flat broke, and they will be living with his parents in a tiny hovel. Oh, and he owes $30K in fines for some sort of criminal activity where he was selling stolen cell phones.

Down in Brazil, the American guy has moved to be with the woman he has knocked up. There too, they live in squalor. And she seems to be online with other foreign men all the time. Men who it seems send her money. They bonded this week after being broken up for the most part when their child was born.

An American woman has taken her young son to live in South Africa with her new husband. He’s a gambling addict. And they live in a very rough part of town.

Some idiot guy moved down to Equador to live with chickens and sheep in practically third world conditions. It is there it is discover that she seems to still have a boyfriend

Jenny and Sumit

Shocking Information!

But the HUGE NEWS this week is Jenny, who is 60 years old, moved to India to be with the love of her life, Sumit. He has been very shady about introducing her to his family. Sumit says they will never approve of the wedding. He disappears frequently to go be with his family leaving her alone in a country where she does not speak the language.

But at the end of last night’s episode, Sumit dropped a bomb to production. Sumit is already married!

He told production, “She gave up a lot for me and keeps on thinking that we are going to get married. It is very unfair to her. And the big secret is that I’m married.”

Did I mention that she quit her job and gave up everything in America to move to India? Basically, it seems he is catfishing her! I am shocked.

Is anyone else watching this show? I need it to be Monday like RIGHT NOW.

Hilarious how everyone has something they are hiding. Is that a thing?lol.
So he’s .already married. Hmmm. I actually thought that after trying everything else as an option. But quickly thought no way.

I feel sorry for people who have never had falafel made by an old Arab man sitting on the sidewalk frying them outside a beautiful Libyan movie theatre while watching a movie. The beauty of the Sahara desert. The excitement of the souks. Wandering around Paris or taking a train in Romania to to Transylvanian. The museums, The Mediterranean sea. Tunis is amazing. I’m not as into India and Asian countries. There is so much more to the world that the 7-11 and Red Lobster. You can get much better lobster on a Carribean beach. This comment just BLOWS MY MIND.

I literally yell at the screen like these folks can hear me every time I watch this show. Every one of these couples is a little “special” but Deavan right now is blowing my mind. At first I was a little suspect at her conception timeline yet after seeing her son I admit I was being extra…but how do you give up the security you’ve built for your children and move to a different country with a newborn without having the details of where you’re going to be living and what your finance’s job is? It’s not even the fact that it’s a different county (that would actually be kinda cool under the right circumstances)…but this guy has shown he’s irresponsible…he would have had to show me receipts before I even thought about buying a ticket!

Oh and side rant…Paul is bat butt crazy…I wish my husband would talk about DNA tests right after I gave birth with no pain killers…I’d smack him with the placenta!

I love this show. I don’t watch the 90 days shows but this one has my attention. I think Paul (the guy who lives in Tonatins) was on the OG 90 days? Maybe? Regardless, watching his wife have that baby with no pain meds during a “shift change” was torturous. I felt for her.

I have opinions on all of them. The guy who moved to Equador seems the most clueless. I think the South Korea couple is the most likely to succeed. Maybe also South Africa. Which, I had no idea was so dangerous. Maybe it’s just where they live.

Johannesburg, which is where I think they live, is a very dangerous town. Bishop Desmond Tutu and Mandela both lived in an area with high, electric and barbed wire fences and patrolled by armed guards.I understand unemployment is about 40%. No one goes out after dark. Cape town is much safer.. Other than that, South Africa is a beautiful country with lovely people and Cutie Trevor Noah is from there.

When Paul is upset and flees…funniest thing on television. The first time I saw him run away, I gave him a pass. I thought it might be difficult to try and sprint in flip flops uphill. Nope…he always runs like he is trying to take flight. Very, very dramatic. Possibly even funnier, is the time he finally gave in to Karine and went swimming in the river. He was fully suited up in multiple layers, fishing waders, and a condom so he wouldn’t contract any diseases/parasites. He is lucky he didn’t drown when the waders filled up. Watching him flop around when he finally was able to pull himself out…definately must see tv. He certainly travels well prepared… ANY scenario that could possibly occur, he has the solution packed in one of his humongous plastic totes and a little piece of hair from mom. LOL

I think that Paul is on the spectrum. So many of his idiosyncrasies and mannerisms are clues, as are his exceptionally poor social skills. I can’t watch them anymore, because I kinda feel like he’s being exploited for literally not knowing any better. People like Angela… she deserves what she gets… But Karinne would have no way of knowing or understanding about Paul. She’s a child herself.

Agreed. The exploitation of people like Paul, who obviously has psychological problems, is sometimes hard to take. However, that is balanced out by those who abandon their families and lives in America just to have sex (a/k/a jiggy-jiggy) …. they sure do deserve what they get.

I read in an article that before Jenny moved to be with Sumit she knew that he was in an arranged marriage. The same article also claimed that that the entire situation with the guy, Caesar, waiting to meet his girlfriend, Maria, in Mexico is all crap fabricated by him and production. The article points out that if he really didn’t have funds in his account for her ticket to Mexico then the flight would have never been booked he would have been informed and there would have been no cancellation of her flight since it was never purchased in the first place. In the videos he has of her she never uses his name or refers to any particular situation. She basically makes blanket statements that could apply to anyone. Also the guy is a wanna be actor and is using the show as a jump off for his career. I don’t know if any of this rings true but his situation is defiantly questionable.

I can’t imagine Caesar thinking this was an opportunity to become an actor. I just thought he was sadly stupid and falling for a scammer. I find his whole story heartbreaking. There are lots of stories out there, which is one reason I come here because Tamara verifies her info.

I think like all reality tv shows, the producers learn over time what the audience wants and then give it to them. There is a follow up series The Family Chantel that I see bits of and that seems so amazing fabricated and the acting is horrid.

Maybe Jenny knew that Sumit was married but people do lots of stupid shit for love.
