UPDATE: Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley were in court today to plead not guilty multiple felonies. Each of them had their own attorney. They were granted $100,000 unsecured bonds. They have travel restrictions and cannot leave middle Tennessee (they live in Nashville) and/or north Georgia without requesting travel permits from a probation officer.
Todd Chrisley made the following statement to reporters:
“We stand in our faith, and we stand in what we know is right. We are fortunate to have the counsel that we have and our family will stick together, and we’ll walk this road because we know that the good Lord will hold our hand and take us through,” said.
Todd and Julie Chrisley have been federally charged with conspiracy, bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion. This doesn’t surprise me at all. Tamara Tattles has previously reported on their alleged criminal activity. Todd and Julie claimed they lived in their Florida vacation home instead of their primary residency in Atlanta where they were filming Chrisley Knows Best. Julie testified honestly in that investigation and said they were never legal residents of Florida. Todd’s estranged son also testified that they were never residents of Florida. The couple was found to owe over a million dollars in unpaid state taxes. Julie was found culpable for a separate amount.
Today, Rodney Ho of the AJC reported the federal charges.
“Todd and Julie Chrisley are charged not only with defrauding a number of banks by fraudulently obtaining millions of dollars in loans, but also with allegedly cheating taxpayers by actively evading paying federal taxes on the money they earned,” said U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak. “Celebrities face the same justice that everyone does. These are serious federal charges and they will have their day in court.”
Those offense came between 2007 and 2012. Todd and Julie also allegedly did not file income tax returns in a timely fashion for the 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 tax years according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Todd Chrisley Indicted, Denies All Charges
Todd immediately took to Instagram yesterday before the indictment to say none of this is true. He blames it all on his tax accountant who he fired in 2012. He claims he tried to destroy the Chrisley’s and is getting immunity for his information. Um, if he were getting immunity that would mean there was a crime committed. Todd should keep his mouth shut about the situation on social media. He’s implicating himself. Also, Peter Tarantino, the accountant for the Chrisleys from 2007-2012 has also been indicted. So clearly he was not behind the charges.
The last time Todd Chrisley was charged with tax evasion in Georgia, Todd Chrisley attacked the appearance of the female reporter who broke the story. In both of his public denials he includes lots of Bible versions and cloaks himself with Jesus.
Also, he was not involved in the charges against the Chrisleys from 2013-2016. These two are going to do some prison time. Perhaps he can teach Sunday School in there. I feel sorry for Julie, but not for Todd. Chrisley Knows Best premiered in 2014 and has filmed seven seasons so far.
