I’m a bit late to the game for this MAFS recap. I watched the first episode but didn’t choose to recap. This season the couples all live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I feel like the two black couples who were matched were great choices. Keith and Iris seem made for each other. The basketball player and his wife seem like a great match. It’s definitely Jamie and Elizabeth that I foresee problems with. And the problem in Jamie.
We still have two wedding ceremonies to get through. I forgot about that. And four receptions, apparently.

This Is More Of A Mini MAFS Recap
I was just watching and not recapping. So if you you skip the first two episodes, the main things you need to know are that Matthew, the basketball player’s parents got divorced a couple of years ago and it fractured the family. He doesn’t appear to be on speaking terms with anyone. There were two very overly produced scenes this episode. One where the groom were supposed to dance with their mothers after the father daughter dance. The DJ kept asking for Matthew’s mom to show up. I thought that was very tacky of production. Then Amber’s mom got up and asked him to dance.
The other big thing is that Iris is a virgin. That scene was also over produced and Iris’s mom points out that her dress was very white. Iris confesses her virginity to her new Mother In Law. Then her MIL runs off to tell her son that his bride is a virgin. It was such a fake scene.

And the last thing is that Deonna doesn’t seem that into Greg. So I see Deonna and Jamie as being the big issues. I know the preview show everyone fighting but I can’t see Iris and Keith breaking up at all even though they do appear to have a big fight. Matthew seems to have issues that we don’t fully understand yet.
Overall, this looks like a fantastic season of MAFS. Sorry the first MAFS Recap was so short. Next week will be the honeymoon MAFS recap and those are always great episodes.
Tamara, thank you for recapping this series. People should give the show a chance – the last season generated tons and tons of comments, but it should be here, on this site. I don’t want to go anywhere else, but really enjoy watching the relationships grow, and often deteriorate horribly. The so-called experts who match these couples up seem to have fairly good intentions, but they also don’t miss a chance to stir things up and cause controversy. We’re only an episode or so in so far, fairly easy to catch up. Give it a chance, fellow Tamarites – I think you’ll really like it once you become familiar with the characters. Although the commenters are primarily women, I would love to get the male perspective on the behavior of the Married at First Sight husbands and wives.
Thanks, amiga! This is one of the best shows on TV despite the obvious production moments.
Seconded!
I, too, am glad that you are recapping MAFS again TT. Iris is just stunning and I agree that she and Keith will make it. The rest are a toss up..
watching it and appreciated you recapping it also! I give it 2 out of 4 couples making it 🙂
Iris and Keith are a gorgeous couple. I hope they make it. Jamie is definitely going to be a problem. He reminds me a little of the gaslighter from last season that was so abusive. This was not a good venue for him to find a wife. I love the basketball couple but the show is foreshadowing problems. I wish them well.
TT will you be recapping Luh After Lockup? Your hysterical recaps got me hooked on that train wreck.
Yes Navymommy, TT’s recap of the train wreck Love after Lockup would be the icing on the cake!
I have Love After Lockup in the hopper next to Teen Mom OG to recap. I planned on doing it today, but there is a marathon of Mystery Movies on Hallmark and I keep getting sucked in. My TV seems to change it’s channel it the middle of the night and I wake up to marathons of shows I’ve never seen. I’m loving this marathon of Mystery Woman. It’s corny and dumb like the Christmas movies and great for anxiety.
I’m addicted to these recaps now thanks to you!! The show always seems like such a train wreck….. thanks for recapping!
I love this show. The only season I didn’t gravitate to was 7 with Tristan & the stalker accused wife. He got what he deserved.
This season, so far, I like Iris & Keith, another Keith. Elizabeth is the female version of the guy from last season. The one that hit his head in the motorcycle accident. I’m glad I forgot him already. The other 2 I need to wait a little bit, & rewatch this episode as I was all over the place. My anxiety is on full force these days.
My anxiety has been through the roof lately. I spent almost two full months, eating properly, walking a few times a week, and avoiding alcohol and sugar entirely. I felt great. Then the plan was to take a week for some cheats like ice cream and wine and totally fell off the wagon right back in the hole.
The weird thing is that everyone I know has also said their anxiety skyrocketed lately.
So I medicate with wine. Which helps until the next day. Argh. Must get back to proper diet and exercise.
I typed a whole dissertation in response to your comment & lost it somehow. Hate typing on this phone & my pc gives virus warning when I pull you up.
Anyhow, in short, hope you feel better & if you ever feel like doing the group thing again, I’m in.
Yay! I was so happy to see this recap this am, I’m addicted to this show.
Iris and Keith are a gorgeous couple on the outside and also seem to be lovely on the inside. MIL was kinda shady, not her place to tell her son re Iris’ virginity in my opinion
I thought all their weddings went well, I’m a little worried about the redhead and her husband (names?) She has a very strong personality and definitely a daddy’s girl.
I hope this is a good season, I like that the couples are support for each other through the process.
Thank you TT!
I am also chiming in to give thanks for the recap and suppsup the show with my comment.
*support
Thank you so much for recapping this show!!!! Of all the people i agree Jaime the one who seems like he’s going to have the most issues. He’s also very, very picky. He’s got mommy issues and he’s mom’s got letting go of her son issues. During Matthew’s and Elizabeth’s wedding I thought she was going to get a sore neck from looking up! He’s a tall drink of water. Looks like a great season. I’m recalling liking Iris!
I’m so glad you recapped, I have so little patience for the first few episodes, I just want to get right into it all!
Me too.
I have no patience for the first 5-10 minutes of every episode! Ya’ll can fast forward this comment from here until last paragraph. I would!
WE KNOW THEY ARE STRANGERS WHO GET MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT. Our strangers somehow stumbled upon the ultimate arranged marriage (app). You know, the marriage experiment, the one that has cameras 24/7 and professional (pickers) all with post graduate degrees (PhDP or MSP going forward in this comment. Please no rocket scientists or MS anyone take offense, only trying to make this paragraph last as long as every intro into every episode) in all relationship/marriage problems and hiccups (not me) because all relationships get the hiccups. Then the PhDP proceeds to look into every STRANGERS freezers and underwear drawers, sizing on a perfect life partner for said refrigerator and life skilled or complementary match. Proceed to every partners wedding scenes with either forced or overly abundant excitement. Now we see a suitcase or two packing, tears, words that sound like one or the other stranger is OUT! The obligatory last episode where our couples need to make the decision to stay married….or get a divorce, da, da, daaa…anticipation builds…!
5 minutes or more in, I can finally watch the episode. I am glued to this show. No idea why, but I love it!
I’m not sure about Deonna. She seems reluctant to this process.
I just binge watched the first three episodes, through the weddings, and we are off to a great start! I was pleasantly surprised that all of the couples seem happy with their matches and are kissing. I was most concerned that Jamie and Elizabeth would be a total train wreck from the start, but they are super into each other and open to each other’s quirks.
I think Keith and Iris are solid. Matt and the short, dark girl are solid, though they both have issues with parents. I think Deonna and Greg will be a little slow to warm up and maybe self conscious – could have some issues there. And Elizabeth’s showy, “look at me”, Daddy’s girl, “isn’t it cute that I can’t pay my car registration?” – thar be dragons there!
That said, I love this show SO MUCH!!! Thank you, Tamara, for blogging about it, which is how I started watching. It’s funny how I’ve already become drawn into their stories and root for all four couples to make it. It is nice to hope for love.
Deonna is married … to herself. Not impressed. Elizabeth and her father are uber annoying. And Keith’s mom should not have been the one to spread the good news. I like Matt and Amber; much in common including bad relationships with their parents. Iris and Keith are the only couple I predict will stay together.
So glad you’re recapping. I love Keith! Not feeling Iris at all and think she’s fake. Deonna didn’t seem into Greg. Rooting for Matt and Amber, just feel sad for his family situation. Jamie and Elizabeth oh my.
I love Iris! But I am a terrible judge of character.
