This Killing Eve Recap picks back up in Rome with Eve wandering around the palazzo sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong. She wanders into Aaron’s “command central” and we are led to believe that nothing is password protected as she is able to watch videos of herself in her wing of the palazzo. She also watches older videos where he murdered another girl staying in her room. YIKES! Will she run or will she kill him first. I’m going with option B. Especially because on the last episode Carolyn said that under no circumstances can Villanelle kill Aaron.
A Weird Looking Gentleman
Holy crap. At breakfast, Aaron tells Villanelle he going through the dirty laundry of some guy. She asks if she can see. He shows her some pictures of the potential buyer. Villanelle says, “what a weird looking gentleman!” She used the safe word! Eve was listening but that exact moment she hears a gunshot in the hall were he Hugo was making a call to Jess to update her. Then someone tries to break into her room and she hides under the bed. Because no one ever looks under the bed.

And the gunman doesn’t in this case, He takes a call and leaves. Eve goes out to save Hugo who is shot but not dead. YAY! Because, hot. She tells him that Villanelle used her safe word. She sounds as shocked as I am. Hugo begs Eve, who he just slept with the night before, to not leave him alone. She says she will tell the front desk to call an ambulance. Nothing will get between her and Villanelle.
Do You Like Sushi?
There is no one on the front desk. She calls 911 but it doesn’t work. Because, Rome. She tries 999 that’s an old number for some European countries. The new number for most European countries is 112. Bitch leaves a note about out dying hottie before leaving. Or not leaving. A henchman comes in and she pretends to work the desk. They make a dinner date for sushi at six. WTF? I love this show. She goes back into the staff closet and puts on a maid’s uniform and carries out some finished laundry.

She makes her way into the palazzo and into the room where Aaron and Villanelle are giggling over the weird looking gentleman. She storms into the room and Aaron says, “Eve Polastri…?” For reasons not exactly clear, Villanelle acknowledges knowing her. Then Villanelle tells Eve that Aaron makes movies. The murders are great but she needs more stories. Now he knows she has been in the control room. Eve tells her to leave with her now. Also, why did she grab an envelope opener. Did MI6 not give Eve or Hugo any guns?
Do You Want To Watch?
In a previous episode, Villanelle pondered if Aaron and his love for indulgence and zero ability for emotion might be her soulmate. Perhaps they are. Aaron offers her a job working for him. He says neither of them will ever be bored again. He tells her to start by killing Eve. This will never happen. She asks if he wants to watch. He says yes. Then, thirteen minutes into the finale. She grabs a knife and take Aaron in front of a mirror and basically beheads him. So he can watch.

Eve freaks out. She tells Villanelle about the armed men outside the hotel. She fails to mention fucking Hugo and the fact that she left him to bleed out to come to rescue her. Villanelle says she will handle it. Outside the palazzo, Villanelle tells Eve about a small redheaded man who works for the twelve who is not her favorite. Eve gets even more worked up when she realizes the twelve are there. Villanelle gives her a good slap across the face snap her back to her senses.
See You Soon
After a lover’s spat, Villanelle says she will be in a car outside the hotel in five minutes. She tells Eve if she sees anything crazy, “Don’t be brave.” Just come get in the car. When Eve gets back to the hotel, the note is still there and there is no one on the desk. Hugo has disappeared. And so has all of the surveillance equipment. Inside the hotel room there is a knock on the door. It’s Carolyn. who we all believe to be one of the twelve along with Konstantin.

Carolyn says that “their side” has the surveillance equipment. It’s clear that Carolyn wanted Aaron Peel dead all along. Eve realizes she was set up. Carolyn says she will get over it. She makes Eve choose, MI6 or Villanelle. What do you think she chose? When Eve tells Carolyn that when this is over she is going to tell Kenny everything, she replies, “He already knows.” Because, “He is part of the cleanup operation.” So not so naive after all!
What Are You Doing Here?
Villanelle is looking for a car to steal. They are all locked until she gets to a shiny convertible that is unlocked for her. Konstantin in on the stairs with the car fob. She asks what he is doing there. Even though we both know he is part of the twelve as well. He says he is saving her life. I officially predict a Thelma and Louise sort of exit. He tells here there is cash and a gun hidden in the dashbox. She’s happy to go rescue Eve. He says she will have to leave her behind. Are these people really that stupid?
Eve realizes she was hired to kill Aaron Peel. And that Konstantin considers Carolyn (and the twelve) as his family, not her. He needs to die now, which is sad because I love him. He tries to tell her Eve has left with Carolyn. She knows Eve would never do that. Konstantin asks her what is it with her and Eve. She says they are the same. Her goes back up the stairs in tears. Villanelle says she will find him and his family. He says, “I don’t think so.” Oh I do. I think he and his family are as good as dead. Well maybe not that one daughter she likes.
A Weird Looking Gentleman With An Ax Meets Villanelle With A Gun
However will this encounter turn out? Not well, bitch. It finally occurs to me that the weird looking gentleman is Raymond her handler after Konstantin. There is a hugely dramatic fight between Raymond and Villanelle. Eves shows up and tries to save her fair maiden with an axe to his back but she doesn’t have the strength to finish him off. Villanelle convinces her to hit him again and again. He promises “they” will come after her and everything she loves. And she axes him over and over. Villanelle and Eve both seem a bit thrilled by this. But that is exactly what the twelve, at least one of whom is in MI6. wanted. Villanelle is thrilled but Eve is freaking out because she just axed Raymond to death to save the woman she loves.

Eve needs to puke but Villanelle tells her to swallow it, Because DNA. But then she helps her take the maid’s jacket off and casually tosses it on the ground. Leaving both of their DNA by the body?
Standing Up A Date
As the two lovers try and make a clean escape, the henchman Eve has a date with shows up outside. Also the note about Hugo is still there and there is no one at the front desk.
Eve and Villanelle duck into some sort of underground tunnel. Above ground, Carolyn meets up with Konstantin and gives him an envelope. Money? The location of his family?

Back in the tunnel, Eve pounds her way out of a wooden door while Villanelle looks on with… adoration? They exit out to some beautiful Italian ruins and discuss what to make for dinner. Spaghetti it is. They plot their escape to Alaska. Villanelle says she has money so she doesn’t need to worry. I’m just happy Niko gets to keep his penis again this season.
You Had A Gun The Whole Time?
In the ruins, Villanelle pulls out her gun. Eve realizes she could have killed Raymond. Villanelle says she wanted her to know how it feels to kill someone. She asks how it felt to kill someone. Eve replies, “wet.” Villanelle tells her she is proud of her. A huge lovers spat ensues. Eve turns to go back home. Villanelle fires a shot. But we know she didn’t mean to hit her. Or maybe she did. We see Eve on the ground and Villanelle walking off in the opposite direction.

There has to be a season three. This show is way to popular for Eve to die. Thanks for reading all of my recaps. They are very time consuming with few readers but I love doing them when I can fit them in. Oh and fuck you to the bitch who kept screaming at me to “hurry up and do them.” That only made me take my fucking time.
See you next season?
I totally forgot to watch this episode. Love the recaps that I don’t mind spoiling it for myself and reading it before I see the epi.
I’ll be back for next seasons recaps! Thank you for them! ☺
Thanks for the recap TT. Gutted this show is over until Lord knows when. Maybe Eve is ‘playing dead’ like Hugo said he did earlier.
Since Mexican Dynasties and killing Eve are over . Back to the RHNY, my guilty pleasure
I think they will get season three out as quickly as possible. I need to know what happened to Hugo!
see you next season for sure, TT! <3 Killing Eve was renewed for season 3 back in april! yay!
Hello!
I saw your comment in the other KE recap about Gentleman Jack.
I love it so much!
The woman playing the lead is fantastic, I love her!
I love this show. Thanks for turning me on to it. There is no way that Eve is dead. Can’t wait for season 3.
Great show, hoping for a season 3!
I thought about DNA, too. Axe handle. But they all knew anyway. They let Villanelle/Eve run around long enough to ensure Peel was dead and then let Raymond take care of the mess.
I never thought Eve was in love with Villanelle. Obsessed is how I look at it.
The details you included in this reminded me of all the action this episode entailed. So much so the character reveals were harder to detect. Until I read your recap. Eve ducking under the bed stood out because it seemed so out of character but then I remembered Eve has gone through a transition from watcher to active participant in intense human combat. Enter the hatchet sequence, to complete her metamorphosis, under the guidance of Villanelle.
Villanelle had to shoot Eve, but it wasn’t up close and personal like her normal kills. It wasn’t over the top as Eve describes Villanelle’s assassination M.O. It wasn’t meant to kill her simply to warn her that she, Eve, can’t get away with another attempt at Villanelle’s life, and that no bad deed goes unpunished.
Eve was just beginning to embrace the bad girl in herself, but Villanelle lets her know the stakes are so much higher if she plans on hanging with an assassin. Can’t wait for season 3.
I am saving your fab recaps until we get we get season 2 in the ?? next week. It has been hard not to read them but I don’t want spoilers. Forgive me if I start commenting next weekend on something you wrote 2 months ago.
I would love you to comment next week on something I wrote two weeks ago. xo ~tt
I just discovered this show last night! I must go read all your recaps . I hope there is another season too .
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, your Killing Eve recaps are the best!! When they came out of the tunnels into the ruins, were they the same ruins from Getty where old man Getty met with the kidnapper? Just a thought because Rome and it looked similar. Villanelle had such a romanticized view about how her life would be with Eve in Alaska. It was kind of sweet in a super twisted way. Anyway, thanks for the great recaps I can’t wait till next season!
Maybe, I was raised in Libyan and there were two huge Roman ruins and we used to go there a lot. My mother was the head of an Archaeological society and put on an even in the cathedrals of Sabratha. It was magical and someone in my family who shall remain nameless stolen a thing or two from Sabratha and Leptus Magna and I have them in my possession since most of my fam didn’t know what they were. I’m wondering what museum might like them.
When I was I was a kid I had a thing about digging or something I guess. My mom was of the “Go play outside and don’t come back in until I call you” Era. So I went outside the gates of my villa into the giant sandbox that was Libya and dug. I excavated a urn of some sort from God knows when and it is in a local museum there. Well probably not now. That museum is likely long gone. Just like so much of one of the most beautiful countries in the world. My heart breaks for Libya.
Wow!! That is absolutely AMAZING! It’s so sad that so much has been destroyed there. I’m sure any museum would love to have those pieces, I might do a little research for you when I find some time. I used to dig for treasure too when I was a kid but, all I ever found were a few shards of old broken porcelain and a petrified dog poop. All of which my mom promptly took away from me. Oh well.
Love this show and appreciate your recaps.
Let’s not forget Nico is locked in a storage unit with a dead coworker.
Oh, I didn’t think about him being locked in there. At least he still has his penis. And his coworker was VERY ANNOYING so I mean, I can’t blame VIllanelle for that.
It was good this season, too short I think. I didn’t like one season ending with one stabbing the other and then next season the other shoots. I think we will find Eve was wearing that bulletproof vest they gave her earlier in the season and played dead, but Villanelle is a trained assassin. She wouldn’t miss her mark. I can’t believe Eve let Hugo die. I love Constantin and I hope he is still in the show. I think Villanelle framed Nico for the murder. But it makes no sense she killed Gemma because wouldn’t she want her to clear the way to get to Eve? Made no sense. Now we have a long wait to next season.
Praise God Nico lives to see another day. If V had killed him, Eve would have never forgiven her. So this way Nico will stay the hell away from these crazies. I presume. Or he’ll be the dool in shining armor. I’m hoping the shooting was staged because someone was following them. I know it’s a long shot. Eve must be playing dead like Hugo. Poor Hugo, I guess we’ve seen the last of him. Surely we haven’t seen the last of Konstantin, he is such an enjoyable character. I plan to start reading the books soon, to get my fix until next season. Maybe we should all read them and have a book club thread. Thank you, Tamara, for recapping REAL tv for us❤️
“Dool in shining armor.” As if the TT scoops and TT recaps and guest recaps weren’t enough… I love this site so much.
Thank you for these recaps. I’ve enjoyed them immensely.
If there isn’t a season 3, I will cry.
Great recap, and really good insight on what might have happened at the end. I am thinking that Eve had on her bullet proof vest, and Vilanelle knows it, so while she shot at her she wasn’t planning to kill her. The commenter above is right that it’s very different from Vilanelle’s usual up close and personal, flamboyant killing approach.
Niko locked in the storage unit with the dead teacher and possibly framed! Poor Niko. I didn’t think of either of those things.
My one fan fiction wish would have been for Vilanelle to somehow have more outfits in this finale.
I am thinking either MI6 or The Twelve might off Nico too. Then clean it all up. No loose ends…
I thought I read that TWO MORE seasons were greenlighted, but only one. Suzanne Heathcote is taking over as showrunner. Looks like it will be A WHILE before we get Season 3. Sandra Oh just keeps getting better.
Awesome recap! Love this show and I rewatch it a lot! Can’t get enough. Thank you for always pointing out things I missed.
I don’t think vanillaelle wanted to kill eve I think they will be on the run together next season
The love story isn’t over with these two I think eve will use it as advantage to get away from MI5
I finally got to watch this series. How I loved it. After each episode, I read your recaps. Fantastic job TT. I hope when series 3 drops it will be at the same time as the USA because it was so damn frustrating you see your recaps but not being able to join in the fun.
Obviously, I’m very late to the game here. This show happened to catch my eye on a 7 hour flight, and I’m (almost) ashamed to admit that i just binge watched both seasons in just a few days. I was clicking through your recaps and trying not to read ahead while watching! I have so many questions.
And i never would’ve picked up on the smell thing!
Was Villanelle framing Nico for the murder of his coworker, hence leaving him in the locker with the body? Or was V just hoping to scare him off? Is season 3 going to be Eve on a revenge path, attempting to expose and take down MI6 and the 12? (But mostly Carolyn.) Where exactly can she go from here, leaving herself with no allies?
The suspense might kill me. Oh, and screw amazon for making me pay $2.99 per episode for season 2!
I wish had not deleted the last few episodes of last season. I’ve already forgotten the whole thing and will have to read my recaps again.
Hopefully someone with an actual function memory can answer your questions.
