It’s time for another Summer House Recap! After watching the shit show that was the VanderPump Rules reunion, we need to “send it” with these kooks! We open where we left off last week with Kyle Cooke standing in front of Amanda Batula. Flowers in one hand, phone receipts in the other, we get the answer we waited a week for. Does the girl that he supposedly cheated on Amanda with know him? According to the message, no. They have never met. Amanda seems visibly relieved, as does Kyle. I have to ask you all: do we buy this? Honestly, I do not buy it. Kyle professes his undying love to Amanda. Whether I believe it or not, she does. They hug and kiss. Magically all is fixed.
Much Ado About Nothing
Driving to the Hamptons Paige DeSorbo, Lindsay Hubbard, Danielle Olivera, Hannah Berner and Jordan Verroi discuss what happened with Amanda and Kyle. They are mostly of the same mind that we all are. Paige makes a great point that Kyle could have reached out to this girl before the DM. He could have called or texted to tell her to say in the DM that they never met. We will never know what really happened.

Carl Radke is driving up with his mom Sharon, while Amanda and Kyle drive up together. Amanda insists that the cheating was just a rumor so she is moving past it. Kyle tells us that he is going forward with the proposal. This might be controversial but to hell with it: I have zero sympathy for Amanda. She has known for three years who her boyfriend is but has turned a blind eye. I wish them well and hope that Kyle has truly changed. But I do not hold out hope for that honestly.
A Vested Interest In Drama
Amanda and Kyle arrive as the gang are talking about them in the kitchen. Lindsay is annoyed that they arrive as if nothing was wrong. The new kids do not know how to handle the awkwardness. Paige tells us that Kyle’s behavior would not fly with her. I absolutely believe her.
Lindsay gets ready for a date with Peyman, a guys she met at the Hamptons a few episodes ago. Peyman shows up wearing a vest in the summer which intrigued Carl. Speaking of Carl, his mom Sharon tries to advise Amanda on moving in with Kyle. Sharon was cheated on by her husband, which was devastating. If Amanda and Kyle move in and he cheats, it will be like a divorce. She is saying everything that Paige is dying to say but cannot.
Sharon is so freaking cute and is most certainly the best part of Carl. Meanwhile, the gents are outside talking. Jordan once again tells a tall tale. This time it is about why he gets Botox. Supposedly he got knocked out by a dude which led him to get the Botox. WHAT? Totally plausible that someone punched him. Who does not want to? How that correlates with getting Botox is outlandish. Kyle and Carl do their best to keep a straight face.
Forging Paths
The next morning, Lindsay arrives home from her date with Peyman. As cringey and thirsty as their date was, it must have gone well. Carl and his mom Sharon have a heart to heart on the patio. Sharon encourages Carl to let go of his worry for her and focus on himself. Carl was devastated by his father’s cheating on his mom and subsequent divorce. It shook all that he thought he knew about relationships. Sharon tells him to forge his own path. She seems so warm and caring. I have a huge soft spot for Carl so these scenes with his mom make me happy. Sharon says goodbye to the gang. Hopefully she will be back soon.

Hannah and Danielle discuss the hot Brits. Danielle and Max talk a lot. Hannah and Dave are still seeing each other as well. Hannah is still recovering from a really bad relationship, so she is taking it slow with Dave. She became very depressed from that toxic relationship. She is still on antidepressants while recovering from how destructive that relationship was. Hannah views falling for Dave as the ultimate letting go of the past. She is not sure she is there yet. Reason 1,567 why I love Hannah. She is open and real about herself. We are all rooting for you Hannah!
A Real Paige Turner
Before leaving to head back to the city, Carl and Paige talk on the patio. Carl reveals that he is taking a date to a wedding, which is not well received by Paige. She tells him that maybe he and his date will fall in love at the wedding. Oh Carl. He will never learn. Amanda goes to see her parents. Now that she and Kyle are moving in together, she feels she has to tell her parents about Kyle’s cheating past. Her parents, especially her dad, are not happy. He asks Amanda what she is doing with him. Also, more importantly, when he can hit him. They tell Amanda in no uncertain terms that he does not get another chance with them. They are disappointed in Kyle, but more in Amanda for settling for this crap.
Carl and Jordan go on a double date in the city. Carl is setting up Jordan with his friend Erika. She is gorgeous and religious. Carl’s date Sydney matched up on Bumble with Jordan a year prior. He ghosted her. Jordan and Erika go off and talk together. They discuss their religious beliefs and exchange numbers. Maybe this will work out for Jordan? He seemed less sociopathic when talking to her. That is always a plus.
The Truth Hurts
Amanda, Paige, Hannah and Jordan drive up to the Hampton’s together. Amanda tells them how her parents reacted to the cheating news. She knows her parents are right, but the truth is hard to face. Kyle had told Amanda he was working late. He sneakily is preparing a romantic dinner for the two of them. As the rest of the Summer House goes out for dinner, Amanda wishes she was with them. Kyle is seriously struggling to cook. Hasn’t Amanda endured enough?
Over dinner, Jordan discusses his great date with Erika. When asked if he would have sex with her, Jordan reveals he has been holding something back. He cannot get aroused by women. He is able to get it up for himself, which tells the rest of the girls that it is not erectile dysfunction. I feel sad for Jordan. Clearly, he is not able to be himself. Maybe coming onto a reality show known for drinking and hookups will give him the courage to be true to himself.
Amanda and Kyle finally have dinner. Amanda tells Kyle that she told her parents about the cheating and their reactions. Kyle feels horrible but wants to really move on from this. He wants to make it right with her parents. Amanda is in tears as their hurt and disappointment has really affected her. Kyle cries as well. He hates that he caused so much pain. How do they move on when they are so deeply affected by his cheating?
Next week on Summer House: Some of the Vanderpump Rules gang arrives. Beau does not like Peyman. Amanda and Katie Maloney-Schwartz discuss their cheating partners. Paige had a great date with one guy then came home to Carl, which does not sit well with Kyle. Everyone has an opinion about Carl and Paige. What looks to me like a roll of paper towels ends up on fire. Looks like fun! See you for next week’s Summer House Recap! Also, come see me in the comments so we can discuss the madness together.
Just wanted to say I have been visiting this site out for years and I love your take on these shows. And I love the fact that you recap the reality shows I actually like including Summer House
Awww thank you!! I love taking to everyone about our shared love for these shows. Summer House is just killing it this season 🙂
Kyle’s problem is not fidelity, it is his rampant alcoholism.
I agree. Amanda needs to wake up and not move in with him.
She should wake up but won’t 🙁
Unpopular opinion, but I think Kyle has true remorse for hurting Amanda and at some point she needs to truly forgive him or move on.
Love Paige, but she is high maintenance, I think she wants to have her cake and eat it too when it comes to Carl.
I think in some way that was Jordan’s way of sort of coming out and I’m ok with that he doesn’t owe me or anyone else any real explanation. I don’t really know any people who identify as gay and all though I don’t see the issue with someone being gay I know there is a lot of hate in this world and I imagine it’s tough.
Hannah again has hit the nail on the head this whole episode. I don’t know if this show is coming back but I’m hopeful. Don’t need need to see the VPR cast on this show AT All, so over them.
I “uuuughed” out loud when I saw the crossover for next week. I’m so angry with them for their behavior this season and at the reunion. I don’t want them infiltrating our cute show!
I love Hannah too! She’s so refreshing for bravo. I think Jordan is struggling with feelings that don’t fit with his religious views and perhaps those of his family, he is definitely a Virgin and wish he would just own it.
Carl’s mum is so lovely and she gave sound advice to Amanda. These adult men who act like freshers are really not attractive in any way.
Really looking forward to the VPR crossover next week, mainly for Beau, he is so laid back I can’t imagine why he hates Payman so much!
I agree with everything but your enthusiasm for the VPR’rs. Love, love, love Carls mom and Hannah is everything <3
So this week we learned that Jordan is “very religious” and can’t get aroused by women. I think we finally have confirmation that he is gay and conflicted.
Yup. My heart truly goes out to him. Maybe even enough to stop referring to him as a douchekabob. Maybe.
Call me crazy but did Bravo just replace a conflicted southern gay cast member with a conflicted “gay” good Christan boy from the south?
