Killing Eve Recap: Desperate Times

Killing Eve Recap Old Boss LadyI certainly saw some interesting photos preparing for this Killing Eve Recap and I can’t wait to get started! Killing Eve Season 2 has been fantastic so far!

Eve Polastri’s boss, Carolyn Martens, doesn’t look a bit pleased to sitting in a waiting room. She looks like a child waiting to see the principal. I believe she is going to get reamed by her boss. That sounds bad but auto-correct suggested that she is going to get rimmed by her boss. I find that highly unlikely.

It is indeed her boss, Helen, who is angry with her for Konstantin Vasiliev getting away. She wants to just shut down Operation Mandalay altogether.  Helen has quite the potty mouth and I am thoroughly enjoying this exchange. Carolyn calmly lies and tells Helen that everything is going according to plan. This seems to appease Helen and Carolyn is summarily dismissed. In other news gleaned from this scene, Paul is said because he just broke up with his boyfriend. I have no idea who Paul is.

Killing Eve Recap Eve working on Alistair Peel caseAlistair Peel

Eve has apparently been at the office all weekend doing a deep dive on the Alistair Peel case. I’m pretty sure he is the guy that Villanelle killed by strangulation with a tie while on an elevator. She was supposed to make it look like an accident.  Sorry, I should have gone back and read my own Killing Eve Recap. Steve reminds me that Alistair Peel was killed from an air bubble inserted during a pedicure by The Ghost during a board meeting. It was made to look like a heart attack.

Eve’s manic research has uncover several more recent deaths related to Alistair Peel. They include, Jonathan McVey (Alistair Peel’s godson), Gerard Lee (Peel’s CEO), Susan Harris (Peel’s ex-girlfriend) have died recently of rather mundane deaths, reaction to insulin, shellfish allergies etc. Eve suspects The Ghost really killed them all. They decide to return to talk to asshole son, Aaron Peel before he gets rubbed out.

Killing Eve Recap Villanelle with Konstantin in museumAmsterdam

Villanelle and Konstantin have apparently been in Amsterdam long enough to do some clothes shopping because she looks fantastic. She is pouty because she has a boring assignment. Konstantin tells her to make it interesting. Oh she is going to do that! Ha! As soon as I push play, Villanelle starts bitching about the shirt Konstantin bought. He takes her to a great museum and she declares it is just boring. Until she sees a photo of two dead people strung up by their ankles. “Wow,” she says, “they look like bacon.”

Killing Eve Recap Random Guy being interrogatedAaron Peel

Eve and Jess go to the immense fancy offices of the Peel company to interview Aaron Peel. He’s the usual dickrag he’s always been. A real condescending little prick. He has a lawyer come into the meeting who speaks for him declining to provide any information. He insults them as they leave by saying that his company has way more information than the pentagon and MI6 combined. They are done.

He’s on my suspect list now. All of the people who died, that he doesn’t seem to find the least bit worrisome were people who stood to inherit or have control of the company upon his father’s death.

Later, Jess agrees with me. He’s now a suspect. Eve doesn’t think he would trust a woman to do his dirty work. Just then, Kenny makes his first appearance. Alistair Peel’s secretary, Linda is dead. We know the killer came in pretending to be the maid. They don’t know that yet. She appears to have had a heart attack.

Don’t Be Pathetic, Get A Real Life

We’re only eleven minutes in and it has taken me over an hour to write this Killing Eve Recap already. That doesn’t include any of the PITA work like tracking down and resizing photos and all the set up and behind the scenes stuff. I probably will not have time to finish this until much later tonight if then. And it’s killing me!

Then I realized this scene from the trailer is in this episode and had to dash off to make that photo.

She dismisses the girl so quickly that I didn’t think I’d have anything to write. But I do. After Villanelle sends the girl wanting to Instagram Villanelle’s look away. We discover that she was writing a postcard to “Darling Eve” imploring her not to forget about her. Those two are beyond obsessed.  Then she sees a woman, a man and a baby on the next bridge over.

Because I have already seen another scene with these three while pulling photos earlier today. I know that the husband is not long for this world. I’m wondering if he is her mark, or she kills him just to make her day more interesting. Villanelle turns the postcard over and it was the painting of the two inverted dead bodies hanging. Eve will love it.

Killing Eve Recap Villanelle and Konstantin at the barSetting Up For The Kill

Konstantin meets with Villanelle in a bar. He asks if she got a good look. She says the freak is into barnyard animals. So he is the mark. I think the wife is the client.  Villanelle and Konstantin jab each other about his daughter who is in witness protection. She knows he is worried about her. He knows she is jealous of his attention to her. Konstantin says Eve Polastri is making her soft. So she accidentally trips a woman passing by. She did not have a soft landing.

Killing Eve Recap S2 EP04 Desperate Times Villanelle in pig suit sittingJust before the murder scene, in London, Eve was talking about how The Ghost’s kills were so neat and clean. That is not the route that Villanelle is taking in Amsterdam. You need to see this for yourself.

Life Imitates Art

She leaves the guy inverted and bleeding out. Just like the museum picture. I love how she gets inspired by art don’t you?

It was the wife who had the guy killed. Villanelle feels like these jobs are beneath her. She wants to go back home, to London. Konstantin tells her that Eve is not interested in her anymore. She’s moved on to the ghost. The throws her payment at her and tells she has a long day of nothing tomorrow.  Oh, she hates that. Unless there is shopping. I predict there will be shopping.

Finally, A Niko Polastri Scene!

Eve arrives home to find her poor husband Nico cooking dinner. There is also a new bodyguard in the house. She forgot to tell him since she has so many murders to investigate. That can be very time-consuming. Niko is pissed. Again. They whisper fight with the bodyguard in the other room. Niko says the Eve he knows is kind and the best person he knows. He wants that Eve back.

Later back at the MI6 office, Carolyn intercepts the mail and gets the postcard from Villanelle before it was delivered to Eve. She then sends Jess to Amsterdam to investigate the murder. Clearly, she knows know that Villanelle was the assassin based on her sending the clue to Eve. Eve is desperate to go. Carolyn keeps her on The Ghost killings instead. Villanelle pays a red light district prostitute across the street from the killing to let her look out the window. She waits for Eve and is hurt when Jess is there in her place. She has forgotten about her.

Killing Eve Recap Eve eating dinnerEve and Hugo Go For Fried Chicken And Flirtation

Eve thinks the ghost might be someone from the medical profession who fell from grace. Kenny runs a comprehensive computer search that takes a couple of hours. So Hugo invites Eve to go to dinner. They sit at a booth where he once got a hand job under the table. Hugo is pretty obsessed with himself. And sex. In that order.

Killing Eve Recap S2 EP04 Hugo and Eve have a smokeLater, outside they have a smoke and talk about Villanelle. He totally sees that the two of them were obsessed with each other. He asks if he likes watching her or being watched? She says both. Then nearly kiss until Kenny interrupts them with a phone call. He thinks he found The Ghost. Did Eve and Kenny have any sort of resolution about how she involved in him a plot that led to Konstantin’s escape and his mother’s fury?

Holy shit! I just realized why Villanelle changed her mind about buying drugs of a sleazy guy in the alley. She’s going to kill Jess! Or maybe not. She just got really high and went to a club. Jess wouldn’t be in this underground club. She’s pregnant.

Villanelle is super high. And missing Eve. She flirts with an Asian girl with good hair who ignores her. In the bathroom, there is a long line. Some little twat cuts to the front. Villanelle is affronted by her lack of manners. So she strangles her. But before she can get through the requisite five minutes of strangulation, (as we learned in comments last week) Konstantin somehow shows up in the nick of time to stop her. He throws her over his shoulder and takes her out kicking and screaming.

Giving Up The Ghost

Back in London, Eve goes to an Asian school and strikes up conversation with a mother dropping off her kids. It’s The Ghost. They have her in their sites. Eve says it’s easier just to come with her.

Villanelle wakes up in Amsterdam in face down in a puddle of vomit on her bed. She is still in her walk of shame outfit. Konstantin is sleeping on the floor. Aw, that is so sweet!  Villanelle goes into her bathroom and cries some more over Eve. In London, Eve is preparing to interview The Ghost. As the song Angel of The Morning plays we see Villanelle and Eve think of each other and smile.

If y’all actually read this entire Killing Eve Recap, THANKS!

Next week: Well I’m not sure what that was all about. Y’all tell me. I’m a bit hard of hearing and it’s hard to read lips with a British accent.

TT, you overworked sweetheart. You wrote the whole thing and I read the whole thing. <3

Alistair Peel is the decomposing fellow that Carolyn and Eve had hamburgers over…

    This week was a whirlwind!

Whoever are the goddesses and gods who dress everyone on Killing Eve? THANK-YOU!

Amsterdam. It’s a damned good thing I never made it there in my youth. I would have lead a very different life. lol

Aaron Peel’s face is so punchable. Hopefully that happens before he’s offed forever.

Eve and Hugo?!? zomg really? Did NOT see that coming. Totally clueless even as it was happening.

Me still thinks Niko is going to play out a lot bigger in this whole mess than most of us comprehend. I don’t know why I get that feeling. hmmmmmm….

Hubby likes to run around behind the little animals? Gutted. Done and done. Happy wife = happy wife.

Annnnnnnd The Ghost is caught. That was freaking quick. Eve on the ball.

Who else is waiting to see exactly how bad it is when Carolyn loses her shit over something? I think it will be epic.

Thank you for the Killing Eve recaps, TT!

Allistair Peele was killed from an air bubble inserted during a pedicure by the Ghost during a board meeting, which initially made it look like a heart attack. Now I get the pig mask! I missed the barnyard animals comment. I so look forward to these recaps. I refreshed over and over until the Hungry Caterpiller one was posted.

Oh and thanks for reading these. They take hours to recap. I don’t really mind that part, though it is tedious and time consuming. It’s just that while I was here writing about what I wanted to write about, all hell was breaking out on the news front and now I am behind.

I love this show so much! Perfectly cast and acted. Fiona Shaw is absolutely flawless. He’s Eve forgotten that she’s married? Obsessed with Villainelle, nearly kisses Hugo (blech)…poor Niko. He still has his penis thankfully!!

I am starting to think that the new writer for season two opted not to keep going with Villanelle’s castration fixation.

I wouldn’t understand half the plot lines in this show if it weren’t for your recaps, Tamara. You catch all the strange little details that I miss. Killing Eve is becoming too Machiavellian for my pedestrian little brain to comprehend, but between you and the very bright ladies who comment here, I may just make it through this season. Thank you all.

I was I was happily surprised to see Zoe Wanamaker in the role of Helen. She and Fiona Shaw go back many years to when they both worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Fabulous actresses! Hoping to see a lot more of Zoe and Fiona working together.

I do not like shows with violence and brutality. Somehow, this one doesn’t bother me. I feel some sort of compassion for Villanelle and Eve and Niko and Konstantin and Carolyn they all seem to be deeply flawed people that I’m somehow sympathetic too.

Plus most of the people Villanelle kills are assholes.

Same here TT. I normally don’t watch shows with this much violent killing and I’m shock that pig mask Villanelle wore to kill her mark didn’t give me night mares for days. Maybe it’s the fabulous fashions that soften the murders for me. I too feel a bit bad for the entire cast and would love an entire season dedicated to their back stories and how they arrived where they are today.

This is my favorite show right now. I love how they are all entwined with each other. I too love the fashion. I laughed out loud when Villanelle told Konstantin his shirt was ugly. I think we will see the girl who asked to post Villanelle’s photo on instagram again. I remember her in previews for the season, she was talking to Eve. I thought at that time she was Ghost, but that was wrong. I have enjoyed listening to the soundtrack on youtube.

Sadly, You will need to point her out to me. If she walked on in the exact same outfit again I could not pick her out of a line up. I may have to go find a photo of her and save it.

My facial recognition skills and piss poor memory make this show a mental challenge for me. I suppose that is a good thing.

I’m the girl you don’t want to take to the movies because several times in the movie I’ll ask stuff like, ” Was that the guy in the elevator for the first scene?” And no matter if it is or it isn’t I get admonished to SHUT UP! lol.

TT I start looking for your recaps immediately after I watch the show! I appreciate your perspective. Did anyone notice there was a lot of chip eating this episode? Carolyn’s boss and then later Villanelle at the brothel. Maybe I’m just looking too hard for tidbits now. Also, that pig costume was everything!

Maybe you are Fizz, but now I will be more attuned to it! I did find it very weird that Villanelle suddenly started eating the girls chips but I saw it more as “eating popcorn” waiting for it all to unfold so her “girlfriend” showed up. Thanks for reading these. These are the kinds of post s future Tamara wants to write. xo

TT thank you for these recaps! I have been behind on watching, but then read every word after I’ve seen the episodes.

The actor who plays Hugo is simultaneously in another show I’m watching – Discovery of Witches – and I find it really distracting. Especially because he is totally miscast in the other show, and seeing how good he is here just confirms it.

I am finally moved in with a TV. So this is the last one I have watched. So excited to get back on here and read these. I love this show. And yes I love that you catch so many things I miss!!! LOVE IT! I am sad to know it is over in just a few eps.
