Once again the lastest Mexican Dynasties Recap is late. This is because they picked such a busy night to air it on and I really just want to watch it when I have a moment to enjoy it. I feel this is the only season we will get and so I’m going to savor it. Plus, those of you who watch the show are smart, kind and patient. Unlike well… moving on.
Oscar Madrazo and Tarek
Oh dear sweet Oscar. Someone needs to explain to you what Grindr is all about. It’s not a good idea to fly a fuckbuddy from Brazil to you country for a visit. You have more money than sense. I am reluctant to hit play to discover how badly this will play out. I will say Tarek is cuter in person than he is on Facetime.
So either Oscar or Bravo has set Tarek up in a beautiful hotel suite. Oscar lets us all know he is wearing his Brazilian underwear. It’s already pretty cringe worthy. Apparently, Tarek wanted to marry Oscar right away. We all do honey. He’s adorable and rich. And he’s about to get laid. The Do Not Disturb sign is hung on the door and the cameras are kicked out.
La Familia Allende
Over at La Casa Allende they operate on my schedule with breakfast around one pm. At least for the help. La Familia sleeps in until Chio awakens them around 1:45pm. Even then they don’t get up. Technically, Fernando has been up for a while but he really just relocated to the balcony to nap in the sun.

At 2:30 Mari and Adan finally stumble in to the kitchen where Chio has prepared fried eggs with cheese. I’m not particularly fond of eggs but these look delicious. Adan finally tells Mari that Doris is his manager and needs to be the lead in all of his business dealings. From now on whatever Mari does with regard to arranging meetings for him must go through her. That went over like a lead balloon. I don’t believe he will stick to this. Mari probably doesn’t either.

La Familia Bessudo
Raquel has a hot date with an old friend at a very fancy restaurant. They have been friends since early childhood and he has always carried a torch for her. The waiter comes for a drink order and he asks Raquel about a wine preference. She says tequila. Then she changes her mind to mescal. The waiter returns with a bottle of mezcal marca negra and gets her date’s approval before pouring it. Her date is clearly in love with her, and smart and kind and clearly has money and class. He may even have his own Mexican Dynasty! Alas, our superficial Raquel doesn’t care for anyone who is not thin. Her loss.
Tostados de Tierra
Since Oscar is otherwise occupied, Paulina needs someone to film with. So, she invites Elan and Jenny Allende to dinner with her date Jose. The restaurant has a dish that one must be very adventurous to try. Paulina doesn’t want to tell Jenny what it is. It’s clearly some sort of Mexican version of “rocky mountain oysters.” While we wait for the Mexican delicacy to be prepared, Paulina and Jose regale us with the story of how Paulina saved his life. As it turns out, dirt tostados are worm tostadas. Gross!
An Now For a Cultural Experience
Doris Bessudo is throwing a small event for one of her artists, a painter named Miguel Millo. Adan will also be giving a musical performance. Doris has invited all the top people in the music industry. What could possibly go wrong? First, Adan has to slide into a pair of his jeans. He buys nothing but women’s junior department size five. The only thing that surprises me about this is that he doesn’t wear Garanimals.
Oscar brings Tarek to the event and Paulina is all over him like white on rice. She wants Oscar married ASAP. Poor Oscar. Why can’t they just let him live! Tarek loves Oscar’s mom. Who doesn’t? Miguel proceeds to paint a naked girl covered in clay. Fernando could not be more thrilled by this experience. Speaking of Fernando the artiste, I kind of love his flower lion painting from this week. Of course Fernando has to paint and fondle the model. Fernando totally hijacks the even and gets the artist to paint his face.
What Are Your Intentions With My Mother?
Doris meets Sammy, Raquel latest pursuer. She is not happy to see her mother dating. Sammy would be a great catch.
Mari and Doris bicker over Adan. Mari points out that Doris has never represented a singer before. Then she pretends like she is thrilled about Adan’s new manager. She’s probably trying to think up ways to kill Doris without being caught.
Adan … Well…Adan Gives A Performance Alright
When it is time for Adan to sing, he sounds really good! I feel like I know this song and it is his original. They are somehow ingraining the song into our brains! Mari is pissed at the lack of grandeur of the stage. “The crowd” of a dozen people or so sings along. And then Adan goes for the high note. It’s a colossal fail. Even his tiny manparts being constricted in teen-aged girl sized jeans doesn’t allow him to hit the note. It’s beyond bad.
Next time the Mexican Dynasties recap will discuss Doris’s online investigation of Sammy, Jenny and Elan try to set Elan up with a young girl, it’s the second anniversary of Paulina and Oscar’s show ¡Que Madrazo! and Mari has it in for Doris.
This is the best show. I really hope we get another season. Did anyone see Oscars apology for wearing the Marine Uniform? It was so sincere and sweet. He just seems like a really nice person. I love their family.
Poor Alen (I may have that name wrong). He seems like such a sweet soul as well, but he needs to forget that high note.
Ferdinand….funny and annoying.
I love the humor in this show and just the happy and fun families.
This episode was funny. I was dying over Chio holding the paint and moving to each side of the canvas while Fernando painted. And then the discussion of Adan’s clothes. I’m glad you’ve talked this show up so much. I didn’t get into it the first few times I watched.
Me too! Comic gold!
I really keep trying, I promise. I really do. The Allende’s are insane. They have their heads up their asses living in past fame and have brain washed to wonder idiot. The older son and his wife are kind of the only normal people on the show. Wait, I take that back. Doris and the Allende’s household help are normal also. Oscar is sweet and his mother is as well but the sister makes me nuts and Doris’s mother looks like too many face lifts or something. And they all seem to speak English almost as perfectly, and with little accent, were they mostly in the US before? Also the Allende’s are so light complected it kind of confuses me. And yes I know all Latinos aren’t super dark but even their eyes are light. I really like Doris, her husband was sweet also.
You’ve missed the point of this show. And your lack of awareness borders on racism.
I am kind of in shock with therealdeb’s comments. I’m sure my Mexican blue eyed red hair mother in law would agree. She even burns in the sun Deb
Perhaps we should take the view that Deb is learning about other cultures, one of the great benefits of shows set in other countries? It’s always a good thing when people learn about other cultures, right?
That said,I do understand the reaction to the very judgmental comments on the families.
Good point . I live in San Antonio and a good number of Mexican national tourists vacation here so we see the large diversity. Others may not have that privilege
What a different comment coming from you. With all your worldly travels growing up and very pointed comments.
A lot of the reason why we never get to have these shows like Ladies of London, Tour Group, Mexican Dynasties etc is that most people who watch Bravo don’t have a very global outlook. They are not interested in other countries and they don’t know much about other countries.
So it’s important for those who give the international shows a chance, and admit they don’t really understand things about Mexico or wherever a chance to learn.
So I leave my usual assholery on the Housewives type shows where it belongs. 🙂 Those sorts responses are more appropriate in the housewives comments. IMNSHO. 🙂
Don’t worry. I’m still a bitch. It’s just a time and place thing.
I absolutely love this show and being friends with a lot of Mexicans and having traveled all over Mexico I can assure you that this is the exact way the upper class live and act. The father’s are super hands on in the house with the family. They are extremely close knit families…..much closer than Americans. And it is nothing to have 10 or 12 living in the same home as the parents love to have their children and grandchildren living with them.
Interesting perspective, therealdeb, with your surprise about the variety of complexions in a nation of millions.
Please don’t travel to Brazil, you would be confused and dumbfounded beyond words.
People come in all shades within families, so of course, an entire country would have various complexions.
And I’m not sure what Aldan’s complexion has to do with anything.
Hi therealdeb. During the Civil War the US could not enforce the Monroe Doctorine and France, Spain and Britain decided to invade Mexico. Only the French did and lots of blond or red headed, green-eyed people live in the state of Jalisco as a result. My VERY American friend was detained at the Tijuana border for HOURS because she had red hair and green eyes, California ID be damned. That’s how I learned.
Thanks for sharing,Nanette! Now we’re all learning something! 🙂
Another little fun fact. Jews have lived in Mexico since the sixteenth century when they were fleeing the Spanish/Portuguese Inquisitions.
In the late 1800’s Mexico had an arrival of Russian and East European Jews with many more migrating after WW1. They chose Mexico over the US because many had relatives there.
There is now a Jewish community of about 40,000-50,000 and about 35,000 of them live in Mexico city. This community are true practicing Jews rather than crypto Jews. There are MANY more crypto Jews not included into that 50,000.
Hence seeing them embracing Shabbat dinner was not surprising. I only know all this because my ex husband is from Mexico with a Jewish last name for a native Mexican and I learned all about it. He has very pale skin and green eyes.
So interesting, thanks for sharing. BTW, what is a “crypto” Jew?
Per Wikipedia: Crypto-Judaism is the secret adherence to Judaism while publicly professing to be of another faith; practitioners are referred to as “crypto-Jews”
Pretty much a lot of Jews that fled to Mexico and pretended to be Catholics as they were scared to be persecuted. Many did the same in the US.
This show is delightful. Thanks for recapping it. The families are funny and loving. Adan is delusional but harmless.
His singing career will be interesting to follow.
Wonderful episode! Adan needs a reality check on his singing career. His high notes were just awful. Fernando is such a character – he cracks me up. Do we know how many episodes are in series 1 and if it gets another series?
This show needs to continue…as long as it continues to be familial and authentic…and all about the love.
Adan is so laid back I sometimes think he’s asleep
Thanks for the great recap. I’m currently two episodes behind, counting this one, and plan to watch all of them tonight.
Adan continues to bug the pee out of me. I don’t know why I have such a fierce reaction to him, because he’s the product of his childhood. He’s been taught that every little move of his is cute and adorable and that the sun rises and sets at his feet. The way he poses, smiling with his mouth wide open, obviously feeling that he’s God’s gift to the world, is kind of sad to watch. He’s a pampered little boy trapped in the body of a man who will be 30 years old in a couple of years. I don’t know if there’s even a chance that he’ll ever act like a mature adult, especially with his parents around. The time his dad went to hug him when Adan was on the sofa, and Adan wrapped his legs around his dad’s waist, sticks in my mind as an example of Adan’s juvenile mindset. My hope Is that having Doris as his manager, with her blunt and honest comments, will make a big change in his life.
I love, love, love the show. Seeing such different lifestyles is fascinating, as are the people. It’s like going on a luxury vacation without having to spend any money, or be crammed into a 17in wide airline seat. Thanks for the great recap, Tamara. I love reading them before I watch the actual show because you pick up on all kinds of little details I would have missed otherwise.
Can’t wait to watch my missed episodes tonight.
I didn’t think I’d like this show, but really look forward to it each week. I like that it lacks the meaness of HW shows. I do find the Allendes dillusional but in a comical entertaining way. I wonder if Doris regrets taking on Allan as a client-think she’s got an uphill battle to get him to headlining the Super Bowl! Oscar is hands down my favorite, he and his kids are so sweet.
This show es muy loco. I love it!
Those sycophants hired by Adan’s parents did him no favors by telling him to make the high notes his signature. HOW did they keep a straight face while he recorded? Dreaming of Fernando’s pesos, I guess. Doris is his best hope at this point.
I really do love this show. It is great at marketing Mexico City, which I admit I thought was a horrible crime ridden city. I am now seeing how beautiful it is and now it’s not so scary. 🙂
This show puts a lot of stereotypes on blast, all while we are laughing at the silliness, love & relationships of the Allendes, Bessudos & Madrazos!!
PS – REALLY love the “help” as they ground the show in reality. I do worry that some of their comments might cause them to be in trouble or lose their jobs. 🙁
I know we’re not optimistic about a season 2, but in my fantasy season 2 would feature Doris representing Fernando as an artist. I would love to see his emerging artist showcase lol
He’s actually pretty good. Not as good as he thinks he is. But pretty good.
I’ll have to look up more of his work, i was pleasantly surprised by his lion
Love this show! It’s so funny and really celebrates family which is lovely to see. The housewives and even Vanderpump rules is focused on toxic behaviour, bullying and everything that is wrong with the world. Hope they continue to make shows like this one had enough of so much negativity!
