La Familia Allende
We begin this episode of Mexican Dynasties with Elan and Jenny Allende having breakfast. Elan has made omelets and Jenny is enjoying hers with ketchup. Elan and Adan are going to take us to a Lucha Libre a professional wrestling match similar to the WWE in the US. It is past time for some sibling bonding with these two. After Elan and Jenny got married they left Mexico City for a while and Adan seems happy for some bro time.
But first, we must shop masks so they can pretend to be luchadores as well! Elan was recognized as Fernando’s son. He doesn’t like that. He wants to be known for his own music and his own accomplishments. Adan freely admits he is fine living off his father’s fame. As long as there is a camera on Adan, he doesn’t care why the camera is there. Two totally different ways of handling growing up in a famous family.
Off we go to Arena México for the Friday night fights! They stop to take a picture with a luchador before going in to find their seats. This may not be a Friday night because the arena seems quite empty. They are the only ones in costume.
La Familia Madrazo
The Allendes are not the only ones sporting some crazy costumes this week. Oscar is taking the twins and Paulina’s kids to a restaurant. Of course this means they should wear colorful wigs. Because, why not? It’s family dinner night. Oscar is worried that letting the kids have virgin Pina Colada is a gateway to vaping. He’s very concerned about vaping.
Oscar announces that he has been asked to give a Ted Talk about having his twins through surrogacy. They talk about how they are a family with two single parents. One of Paulina’s daughters starts to cry. It’s all very sweet. Paulina tells them they are all going hot air ballooning over the pyramids. The kids are thrilled. Oscar is terrified. He has a serious fear of heights.
Near the end of the episode we see Paulina on a date with her boyfriend, Jose. So far, Jose has her smoking cigars and riding motorcycles. Well, she sat on a motorcycle and inched forward a bit. She’s ready to get married.
Oscar, who is so terrified his 13 year olds might vape at a party apparently tells them about Grindr. He tells them the truth. It is a site for gay hookups. Who wants to know that their father is hooking up with random people in his vicinity?
La Familia Bessudo
Doris and Raquel Bessudo are interviewed by Clase Magazine. Check out the great article here. In fact, Raquel has been featured in this magazine several times. This article is about remembering the patriarch of la familia Bessudo. It’s quite the sad story. León and Raquel lost a son at age 13 after an accident at soccer during a soccer game. León was never the same after that. He was his only son.
Two Hot Air Balloons Over Teotihuacan
The family gets up at 4:30 am to head to the hot air balloon site for the sunrise flight over the Teotihuacan that are about 25 miles outside the city. This of course means the two maids had to get up and wait for the whole family to play the human sandwich game (don’t ask) before they could go back to bed.
Doris and Raquel are coming too along with Grandma Madrazo. The kids all jump in the basket but Oscar is afraid to get in. Finally, he summons up the courage and they are off. The Madrazos in one basket and the Bessudos in the other. Oscar is terrified he will die in the silver puffy jacket he is wearing. I agree. He looks like he’s wearing a giant Jiffy Pop suit. One of his dressier military jackets would be much more suitable for a death via hot air balloon tragedy. Oscar tells his sister and the kids that his friend Tarek is coming to visit from Brazil. His kids immediately identify Tarek as his boyfriend.
Doris, Raquel and Oscar’s mother, Gabriela, are in the other basket. Gabriela is a hoot! It’s not even 6am, the basket has barely lifted and the first thing she says is, “now we can drink!” Doris is encouraging a friendship between this unlikely pair of older women. Someone for her mom to go to the movies with, and to go out drinking tequila with while flirting with men. They don’t drink in the basket. At least not that I noticed, but when they landed at the pyramids, Raquel poured champagne from the bottle directly into Gabi’s mouth. While Oscar’s basket had champagne for the grown up and OJ for the kids to toast their safe arrival.
Adan’s Listening Party
Apparently, Adan Allende is having a small listening party with his producers and promoters for his first song. This will be news to Doris Bessudo, his manager and PR point person as he has not told her about it. According to the brilliant thought process of Adan, he has allowed Doris her moment when she came with him to meet the producers. Now he is allowing his parents to have their moment.
Oh and did I mention his social media mastermind is there. We were treated to tidbits of Adan’s IG greatest hits featuring 211 likes. Speaking of Instagram, I just recently started paying attention to mine and started getting it all spiffed up, check it out here and give me a follow! I’m kinda InstaStupid and am doing it without having a phone so last night when I was updating my season one recaps of Killing Eve in preparation for season two, they accidently burped out onto IG. I suppose that is fine, but that is why there are half a dozen random Killing Eve photos on there at the moment.
When the parents arrive, Fernando makes it clear that he gave all of this to Adan and it is all their doing. That would bother a normal offspring but Adan is A-Okay with it. I mean there are cameras there. Did they hire a young lady to sing the song to? It sounds like it. She has a nice voice. They have him sing the song in a talking head. He’s tone-deaf. Fernando is glad he is carrying on the Allende family tradition. Was he autotuned as well? Did he Milli Vanilli it?
A Little White Lie
Adan meets with Doris to let her listen to the teenaged girl sing a song. Doris tells us she hasn’t heard from Adan lately. She is shocked he has a new song. Why doesn’t she know this? On this version of the song, it sounds a bit more like Adan heavily autotuned. Doris likes it and wants to know who has heard it. Translation: What do his parents think of it. Adan lies and says she is the first to hear it. He tells us in a talking head that a little white lie never hurt anything. He is just trying to keep the peace between Doris and his mommy and daddy.
Doris says the song sounds “teeny boppy” and wonders what is audience is. Adan wants to be a teen heart throb. Doris says he is too old to catering to teenagers. Adan says he looks like a teenager and that is all that matters. Doris thinks that is creepy. I agree.
Doris has already talked to the producers and knows that Fernando and Mari have heard the song. She says she can’t work with him if he is not going to be honest with her. He lies some more. She tells him he has to decide who his manager is and make a choice.
Next week: Fernando hijacks yet another event and makes it about him. Doris gets her wish and her mom socializes but she struggles to see another man flirting with her mother. The battle between Doris and Mari over Adan’s career continues.
