Married To Medicine: The Roof Is On Fire

April 1, 2019 by tamaratattles 32 Comments

BY: POPCULTUREKELLY

It’s already time to check back in with the ladies of  Married to Medicine LA! We begin at the dramatic rooftop ever from last week. Shanique Drummond has accused Larry Blankinship of cheating on Asha Blankinship. According to Shanique, she called Asha to let her know that the ex would be at the dollhouse  brunch. Asha walks away to call Larry to make him aware of the allegations. Larry is nonplussed. Asha tells Imani she will only come back to the group if she gets an apology from Shanique. Imani Walker asks Shanique to apologize. Shanique backtracks. She says she did not mean to imply that Larry cheated. She apologizes. Mmmmkay.

Imani wants to give everyone a chance to speak. Britten Cole says that she feels Jazmin Johnson is not authentic. Jazmin wants to hear that from Imani  Imani owns up to the drug dealer comment. Jazmin is pissed. She tells Imani that her “level” of success is much lower than her husband’s. Imani is a psychiatrist and knows how much a psychiatrist makes. Imani is SHIVERING WITH ANGER (my new favorite phrase). Shanique and Asha get into it again. Shanique and Jazmin leave. Asha blames the remaining ladies for not defending her, which they did. As Imani says, the night is a shit show so it’s time to go.

In the hot tub with Asha and HusbandRe-Hash Is Not Just For Breakfast

Asha sets up champagne and jacuzzi for herself and Larry. They discuss the sit down. A producer asks Asha if Larry discusses his ex with her and she says no. Isn’t that kind of weird? I mean, I know about my husband’s exes but whatever. Shanique and Robert Drummond are in their bed rehashing the party as well. Robert is upset that Shanique is a part of this issue and says she should apologize. Asha does not know if they can be friends.

The next evening, Imani tells Phil about the conflict at the rooftop event. Phil asks if Imani apologized for the drug dealer comment. She says she left it behind her. What is that supposed to mean? Imani doesn’t believe that Jazmin’s husband is a “just” a psychiatrist. To be honest, Imani seems way too invested in this.

A Mother’s Love

Back in the city, Noelle Reid’s daughter Gaby is at home on a school day. Gabby e is having a hard time adjusting to her new school. The new school is not diverse. Gabby does not feel she fits in. Noelle struggles with Gabby hurting. The new school is much better academically but lacks diversity. Ugh! My heart breaks for her right now. Our little confident Gabby from last week is sad and full of anxiety. I want to hug them both right now.

Later, Noelle and her husband Erin Vines discuss what happened with Gabby. They have been married two and a half years. He seems like a great guy. Erin things Gabby should stick it out at the new school. Noelle struggles with seeing Gabby upset. She is relieved to have Erin to let her guard down with. I have tears with this scene. The hardest thing in the world is watching your child hurt and not be able to take it away. They are a loving family and I have high hopes that Gabby will be just fine.

The Struggle Is Real

Across town, Jazmin and Shanique meet for drinks. Ugh! Right away, I want to fast forward. Jazmin says she ate one piece of bacon and is up a whole pound!  Jazmin is stressed. She says being a stay at home mom is hard. She has a nanny! Shanique is stressed. She says being a working mom is hard. And, she doesn’t have a nanny.  This scene is so vapid that I am feeling stressed!

Shanique and Britten go househunting fifty miles outside of LA. Britten is frustrated with the three month ultimatum Mack Major has given her. Mack says if she can’t find a job, and a house very soon, she needs to return to her family in Orlando. Is Britten filming Married To Medicine LA  Mack’s real issue? Shanique regales us with her real estate knowledge. The house they have come all this way to see is nice but dated. This is an issue they could have known about from an Internet photo. Someone wanted this house on the show. Shanique says the decor says a lot about the neighbors and the neighborhood. Britten jokes it seems to be a “final resting place.” The search for the Cole family home continues.

Britten Cole goes on a job interview at a plastic surgery office. The team is all female which Britten loves. As a Vet, Britten has seen a lot medically. She is now quick on her feet and can stay cool under pressure. I know people have mixed feelings about Britten, but I am really impressed. The interview went well. So, hopefully she gets the job.

Tattoos and Turmoil

The next day,  Imani Walker and Britten head to a tattoo parlor. Imani is getting a tattoo. Britten tags along for emotional support. gets a tattoo. Britten has tattoos that aren’t for public display. Imani and Britten talk about the rooftop event. Imani makes it clear she does not compare herself to Jazmin. She is self made, not married for success. Britten tells Imani about the ultimatum from her hot husband. She really feels under pressure.

Mama Knows Best

Imani’s mom stops by for a visit. Her mom is an accomplished author. She has met Barack Obama! Wow. She strives for excellence and accepts nothing less. Imani tells her mom about the drug dealer comment. Her mom is not happy that Imani made that statement. She points out that Imani embarrassed Jazmin. Imani takes in what her mother told in a way she would not with anyone else. She respects the mother’s opinion. She considers apologizing to Jazmin for hurting her. Wow. Her mom is magic.

Next week, on Married to Medicine LA: Hot Mack sticks with the ultimatum. Imani’s mom dashes her dreams of a reconciliation with her father. Imani apologizes but Jazmin does not accept. There is an “intuiter” that clashes with Britten and Jazmin. See you next week!

This is what I don’t like about “reality” tv. There is no way DOCTOR Britten is spending her weekends and evenings driving up and down the California coast looking for houses. She would hire a realtor. That scene was ridiculous. Camarillo is not “outside” the city, it is in a whole other county! Also, these women live nowhere near each other it is all too contrived. But I love the drama.

I was thinking the same thing. These women live so far apart (Ladrea, Beverly Hills, Laurel Canyon and the valley). Camarillo is closer to Santa Barbara, nice area but the commute is crazy. I’m surprised that Britten didn’t look in West Hills, Thousands Oaks and Calabasas. You can find something in the valley under 2 million. I don’t know who told her to check out Camarillo, maybe because it’s closer to the ocean(?).

I don’t know LA at all but I would have to think 50 miles outside of it is pretty far lol. It was a hard scene to get through but hopefully there will be more reality in the reality show.

Imani’s mom is a great addition. Love seeing an intelligent, grounded woman giving advice to her well educated daughter. Jazmine is pretty much toast to me-very vapid.

My theory is that Britten and Mack were perfectly happy in Orlando living in their dream home. Then Britten got an opportunity to appear on the LA installment of this show. Mack, like any logical adult, wants to stay in the dream house unless they can find one comparable to it in LA. I totally get his standpoint. Fame is not worth losing the home and life of one’s dreams. If Britten is smart she’ll give up the foolish desire for fame and will realize how blessed she already is.

Exactly. Did she have a practice or at least a job in Orlando? WTF did they hire someone from Florida to be on a show about LA doctors? I predict Mack has already met with a divorce attorney.

And who the hell goes to look a real estate dressed in that hootchie outfit?

Sorry, I am REALLY cranky today and have a mild headache. It’s probably an aneurysm.

That outfit was hideous. I don’t understand what she means there are no opportunities in Florida because I know they have hospitals and plastic surgeon offices.

Plenty of opportunities in FL. It is a strange arrangement, leaving a family to pursue a job market that is comparable to the one you left is unusual. Plus, California taxes and real estate is much more expensive.
FL has no state income tax.
Maybe Britten wanted to be closer to her college friend, Imani and do the show at the same time.

I hope this isn’t a precursor for divorce. Her husband is so fine, I want to keep seeing him.

Mack is the hottest husband in any franchise (my opinion) and this situation has to be for tv only. You just don’t leave your hottttt husband and beautiful kids for a long period of time where there are plenty of jobs in Florida. I don’t buy that either but I’m thankful we get to look at Mack every now and then because damn! 🙂

The whole “drug dealer” thing is already overworked…why would would that be the first thing that comes in someone’s mind…it seems more obvious that the house is rented and the cars are leased. Jasmine and her husband are just like Toya and Eugene before they went broke owing all those taxes.

Good thought. I didn’t think about that.
Makes sense, especially when seeing Jazmin’s reaction. She seems consumed with money and her weight. And making sure everyone knows she doesn’t work outside, or inside, of her home.

I was suprised that Shanique works outside of the home. She is such a homemaker and that is definitely a full time job.

I don’t understand why Imani is so worried about Jasmine’s finances. The comment was distasteful and if the woman said she’s offended, why double down instead of apologizing?

    Great recap

I don’t think Imani thought her comment would take on a life of its own. She should apologize and end it. Jazmin was insulted and hurt. Imani’s mom explained it perfectly.

@ A Little Birdie-I totally agree with you. Imani should worry about her own finances and stay out of Jazmin’s. Unless Jazmin wants to borrow some money or steals from you, “it’s none of your business”.

Shanique’s delivery was messy but Asha appears to be an insecure willingly blind participant in husband’s interesting timeline.

Jazmin may be the Dorit of this show. I can understand why Imani would want to call her out but I’m disappointed she didn’t think of a more clever way to do it.

I hope Britton is not sacrificing her family for 15 mins of fame on a reality TV show. She should research Bravo’s track record for keeping entertaining shows like this one for more than 1 season.

Noelle’s scenes with her daughter are so touching and relatable. I would love to see more scenes with her family.

Noelle, Imani and Britton are my favorites.

I really thought I’d like Dr. Imani more than I do. She seems to be the type of person that gets mad easily, holds grudges and thinks she’s better than others. HOWEVER, as a Psychiatrist I really expected more from her “let’s be sisters” event. I mean she even said: who was more qualified than her?

I like Shanique and her family. I hope their little boy doesn’t start attacking kids and body slamming them though. He looked pretty excited about the prospect… 🙂

I like Jazmin too. I thought it was pretty low down for (can’t remember who, Asha maybe?) for someone to try to imply that Jazmin wasn’t as smart as she was… Jazmin shut that sh#@ down by saying I went to college / university and yes I did graduate!! Jazmin may be shallow, but she ain’t dumb!!!

My favorite part of the show was being introduced to Imani’s mother, who one of those wise women we all need in our lives.

Imani should ask for advice on increasing her income. From her descriptions of her work, she probably has patients that are on medi-cal or funded by the county- which means very low pay. Jazmine’s husband might only see people who have private insurance or self pay. Imani is imposing her own limitations and lack of business vision onto someone else. She needs to find out what she needs to do to upgrade and stop thinking her salary is everyone’s salary. She knows there is a pay gap.

The shoe should cast more than 1 L.A. native and the group could explore more L.A. locations. Watching a group of transplants try to create storylines while living outside of the city is boring. I am glad Noelle lives in Ladera and I know Jazmine wanted to show her cars but she lives in the flats of Beverly Hills and I would have hid those cars and focused on the inside of the house and the back yard.
