Top o’ the Married to Medicine LA night TamaraTattlers! I hope you all enjoyed your St. Patrick’s Day. To refresh your Guinness soaked brains on our LA ladies click here. Now it’s time to see what shenanigans these lasses get into! We open with Dr. Britten Cole, her hot husband Mack Major and their kids. They are enjoying their last days together before Mack and the kids head back to Florida. Britten wants her family to move to LA soon as they’ve been doing the distance thing for over a year. Mack wants to move to LA and find a big house outside of the city. Britten feels like she’s wasted her time as Mack didn’t make his vast housing needs clear.
There Was Some Overlap…
Next, we have Dr. Larry Blankinship with his wife Asha. They discuss Larry’s ex being at the party which made Asha upset. Both Larry and Asha are mostly upset at how they weren’t warned about the ex being invited. They visit an OB GYN who gives them a schedule for best fertility options. Asha really wants a baby…I hope Larry does too.
Later, Shanique Drummond and Robert Drummond go to dinner. They rehash the birthday dinner where Robert voices his displeasure on how Anisa, Larry Blankinship’s ex, was treated. He feels that Anisa is like family to him, so he is upset there was any drama with her. Robert says there was “overlap” with Anisa when Larry was dating Asha. Uh oh.
When Worlds Collide…
The next day, we see Dr. Noelle Reid in a yoga studio. Noelle owns the yoga studio where she also practices medicine. Her patient Lola is suffering from severe anxiety. She is also sporting some serious hair buns. Go Lola! Noelle started yoga to deal with anxiety, so she decided to bring Western and Eastern medicine together. Lola gets through yoga, Xanax free. She did not need it to cope with her anxiety for that day. That center makes a lot of sense. I wish we had a center like that here in Mass!
Later that day, Phil Johnson and Imani Walker are relaxing at home. They are discussing her reaching out to her estranged father. Phil does not want Imani to get her hopes up only to be disappointed. Imani texts him and he responds with a really shitty text. He says he has to “think about” meeting up with her. Imani is disappointed but Phil is supportive. I know we’re only a few episodes in but I really like this couple.
Throw Some Shrimp And Barbie
Next, we see that Jazmin Johnson, Shanique Drummond’s friend, is planning a party. Shanique arrives at Jazmin’s house where she is throwing a “doll house brunch”. The invitation instructs her guests to “BYOB: Be Your Own Barbie”.
Imani Walker will not dress up like a doll. THANK YOU IMANI! Jazmin’s party decor looks like Pepto Bismol read the invitation then threw up all over her backyard.
Asha Blankenship and Noelle Reid have known Jazmin for over a year but have yet to meet the husband. They feel that Jazmin’s house is a bit lavish for a doctor’s salary. Things that make you go hmmm. Has Felon by Bravo has hit the LA scene? Purely speculation, of course.
A little later on, we get a little background on Jazmin. Jazmin Johnson is half Persian, half African American. She feels that she never fit in with either culture. Asha Blankinship, Imani Walker and Noelle Reid all tell Jazmin they dressed as themselves, not as a doll.
Britten Cole and Asha sit down and discuss how Larry is not ready for a baby. Britten knows he can financially support a baby. So, Asha needs to find out what he is really afraid of. Britten feels she has to stay strong with her family situation. She doesn’t want her kids to see her cry when they leave. Asha hugs Britten when she starts to cry as she discusses the kids. Her family being away is harder for her than she lets on.
Living Dolls
Then all the ladies sit down for dinner. Noelle Reid says she was offended by Jazmin Johnson’s invitation. She feels that dolls can have a negative impact on a child’s psyche. Her own daughter would shun brown dolls, as her beauty ideal was white blonde dolls. Noelle had to really work with her to educate her on how beautiful brown dolls/people are. Britten Cole feels it goes deeper than dolls. A mature conversation about being an outsider, about skin color, with the whole table happens. It is really, really nice to see that.
A runway walk off is next where everyone participates. It’s a cute, fun way to end the party.
It’s The next evening, Imani Walker, Britten Cole and Shanique Drummond get together for dinner. Imani wants to know if Shanique and Asha Blankinship are okay. Shanique claims that Asha knew that Larry’s ex Anisa was going to be at the party and still came to the party. Imani and Britten are shocked that Asha had the head’s up and still went to the party.
The conversation shifts to Jazmin’s party. Imani straight up says Jazmin’s house looked like a drug dealer’s house. Shanique is shocked. End scene.
Next week on Married to Medicine LA: Mack Major puts the pressure on Britten Cole to find a house, Shanique Drummond tells Jazmin Johnson what Imani Walker said at dinner, Shanique Drummond accuses Larry Blankinship of cheating on Asha Blankinship before they were married. Phew! Next week looks like a doozy!
Good recap. I like M2M LA better. I know we are only 2 episodes in, but it feels good to watch a show without the cast yelling at each other in every scene. I was able to enjoy my snack and cocktail. Lord, I kept thinking someone need to tell loud screeching Simone to tone it down in Atlanta. Just not necessary.
Thank you Boujee!! I’m liking a lot so far too. These ladies are more toned down and it’s nice. I think it goes to show that loud doesn’t equal interesting. I love Simone but I completely agree with you. I look forward to next week!
Great recap. So Asha kbek the ex would be there?? I guess she needed to bring the drama for the night and act surprised and upset…
Lisa, the ex, didn’t know what she stepped into going to the birthday party of her friend..
I like the maturity level of these ladies, no screeching and cursing out each other, no threats of violence…..so far.
Thanks Rmicu!! Yes I’m loving the maturity these women have. Even when provoked there’s no violence or screaming…it’s a nice change! I hope it lasts!
I enjoyed your recap! So far, these women are educated, tame and interesting which means this will be a 1 season show, LOL
Thank you LaNY!! Haha oh no I hope not! I think we have a winner here with them. I hope Bravo doesn’t eff it up!
I? hope not. The LA ladies present themselves in a good light. Love the interaction with their children, spouses and girlfriends. I was thinking…Maybe Bravo could spin off M2M Dallas with the Duebers. I am a little bias, because I live in Dallas, but I would watch it.
I miss Dallas sooo much and would watch any spinoff they offered. Well anything without Brandi lol
I would watch a Dallas spin off too! I actually watched M2M Houston and I must’ve been the only one because it was 1 and done.
Ugh. I REALLY dislike Jazmin. I will be quite happy if she is a “friend” but she gets lots of talking heads interviews. I hate when adult women act like little girls. This doll thing is in that vein. Shanique is also annoying but tolerable. Imani is AMAZING. She is beautiful, smart, grounded, honest. Love her!
I dislike Jazmin as well. She got my empathy a bit describing how she grew up without ever feeling accepted but she’s still insufferable. Imani is ahhhmazing! Absolutely loving her so far and seriously want to punch her father square in the face for being absentee.
Yes. I admit that the scene with her mom and her stories about childhood softened my heart. But then it hardened right back up again seeing the preview for next week.
Like Imani but she is perpetuating stereotypes with the “drug dealer” thing. Dr. Gadon Johnson Jr is not a drug dealer.
