Hey! it’s Cho. It’s been a mess of a day, but I’m so happy to be drinking a delicious lager from the wonderful Hofbrauhaus here in Columbus! What’s your favorite beer brand or brew? There’s nothing better to help with a stressful week. If you haven’t read last week’s recap, check that out here! Now let’s get right into this episode of Survivor Edge of Extinction!
On The Edge of Extinction
We pick up on the Edge of Extinction where Keith is being dropped off on the island with Reem! Obviously, he chose to continue to play, so the editing definitely got the better of me. Reem was ready to raise the white flag, but Keith joining her gave her motivation to stay and mother him. Eventually, they receive a map that leads them up an arduous mountain climb to achieve rice. This is how they will have to get food moving forward. How exhausting!
They play the reward challenge for either chickens or comfort. As the players move wheelbarrows, all I see is Wardog’s jiggly backside. What are you paying attention to in this challenge? I think the beer is kicking in already! Chris wins the first challenge of the season for Manu. They and pick the chickens for reward. He is so great in the challenges!
The Bleeding Heart Hypocrite
Unfortunately, Wendy injured her ankle really badly during the challenge. So, she is in tears and so am I. It’s throbbing and looking like a serious issue. She is upset because her tribe is plotting to kill the chickens. She eats chicken at home! So Rick calls her a bleeding heart hypocrite. Wendy asks him to be her accomplice in letting the chickens loose. Wendy should not make a big deal about this.
Wendy argues to Wardog that the mass produced chickens are “already dead” whereas the chickens on the island are not. I want her to go home now. The entire tribe is upset with Wendy for trying to virtue signal despite not even being vegan or vegetarian. Kelley Wentworth takes this opportunity to rally the tribe to vote Wendy off due to her ankle, the chicken issue and the fact that Wendy has voted against her. Wentworth is out for blood.
Aubrey’s Survivor Checklist
On Kama, the returning players are the biggest targets. Aurora has unfortunately sided with the returning players, so she ends up being designated as “on the bottom” as well. Victoria is talking mad shit about Joe Anglim & Aubrey Bracco but doesn’t realize that Joe is LITERALLY STANDING BEHIND HER! I absolutely love when this happens to players. She plays it off horribly, which causes Joe to scheme with Aubrey Bracco and Aurora on what to do. Aubrey Bracco decides that she needs to find the idol in order to remain safe. She eventually finds it and immediately bursts into an emotional wreck. We get flashbacks of her aimlessly searching for idols in her previous season. I’m proud of her!
The immunity challenge is a BRAND NEW ONE which we almost never see in modern-day Survivor! Wendy. even with a bad ankle. is able to perform really well in the water. Manu is surprisingly in the lead throughout the challenge, but it comes down to a puzzle. Aubrey Bracco versus David Wright should be a the puzzle match up of the century! But, David doesn’t perform as expected. So, Aubrey Bracco continues to reign supreme as Kama ends up winning their third immunity!

The Chickens Are Spared!
I’m exhausted with Manu losing, and Kelley Wentworth being in trouble,. Yet, here she is with David Wright going out of his way to stupidly target her. Also, Wendy feels the heat. So she vows that if they’re getting rid of her tonight, they are NOT eating chicken! My heart just stopped. As they look around for the flint, Wardog suggests that Wendy took it. Everyone says that is impossible and would be psychotic of her to do. Everyone tells him no she would NEVER!” Cut to CBS’ shady editing of Wendy giving a confessional about how clever she is for stealing the flint!
David Wright and Rick confront Wendy about where the flint is. She lies and says that Chris has it. They then discuss voting Kelley Wentworth out. David Wright is excited to have Wendy as a loyal smokescreen in the game. He reports to the tribe that Wendy doesn’t have it. Then, he gets to work on Chris to take Kelley Wentworth out.

Good Guy Chris Becomes a Target
Chris is down with the plan to boot Kelly Wentworth. So, because he’s actually a wholesome guy, he doesn’t want to leave Wardog out of the plan. Unfortunately for him, Wardog trusts Kelly Wentworth more than Chris. So, Wardog tells Kelly Wentworth that this is the second time Chris has tried to come after her. This escalated things. Is Chris really going to take the fall for something David is trying to plan?!?!? Kelly Wentworth is now on a mission to destroy Chris. Let me tell you, when my girl is ready to go to war, you better come strapping!
Wardog approaches Rick about Chris wanting Wentworth out. He doesn’t know that Rick and David are the sole reason why Kelly Wentworth is continuing to be a target. This game of telephone is insane, It appears that it ends with David rationalizing that Chris would be a good person to vote off. That way, Chris takes the blame for trying to take out Wentworth instead of him.

Tribal Council
We get right into the discussion about Wendy and the chickens. Lauren and Wentworth roll their eyes while Wardog cheekily calls her “Warpup”, because she’s stubborn like him. Wendy says she’s been vegetarian for 8 days now. Even with Wendy’s horrible social game, Wendy isn’t even up to be voted off tonight! She’s GOLDEN! David Wright makes too honest of a comment about how he plans on getting rid of the biggest social threat which gets huge responses from Wardog and Wentworth. Wentworth’s intense stares are giving me life this entire tribal council. She is nervous. Jeff reads the votes: Wentworth, Chris, Wentworth, Chris, Chris. Chris arrives at the decision point and does not hesitate to stay in the game.
I’m kind of gutted over how this whole thing went down with Chris. It’s masterful. It is cutthroat. It’s dirty. And, it reminds me of some down and dirty mobster movie! What are your thoughts?! As always, don’t forget to follow me on my social media platforms to stay in touch with me throughout the entire week: Instagram, Twitter, Youtube and Twitch!
Sure, get rid of the hot, athletic, male who is great at making fire and takes the lead in all the challenges. Let me know how that works for you.
Perhaps the tribe shift will put the returnees with smarter people who want them out. Generally though, the tribal swaps are there to protect productions favorites.
Why don’t Reem and Ketih just set up camp at the top of the stairs where the rice is delivered?
Now that Chris is on the Isle of extinction, I’m going to need more time there.
I really need Wardog to go home, do not pass go, do not stop on Isle of extinction.
Next week Wendy sets the chickens free. I hope she goes home for that shit.
Aubrey seems awfully emotional.
I mean, it looks to me like they’re doing the ‘Intentional Matsing’. Better to be small enough to be handy votes in a swap at this point.
huh? I read this three times. It’s probably me no coffee yet.
Renee is a super fan who watches youtube videos discussing strategy like me!
The “Intentional Matsing” is a strategy named after the tribe Matsing, who lost almost as many challenges as Koror. Because they were dwindled down to 2 members, the other tribes ended up using them to their advantage in a switch situation and one of the last tow Matsings (Denise) ended up winning.
Some modern day survivors rationalize voting off their strongest competitors and losing tribal challenges in the HOPE that they can be used in similar fashion during switches and merges. It’s a big risk though.
Aubrey is an emotional wreck, and I love her for it. She’s like this every season but unlike Gabby, she seems MORE THAN CAPABLE of not letting her emotions control her during the game.
I thought it was really kind of messed up for them to vote Chris out, but luckily for their tribe, the previews show them switching next episode. Still, that was still pretty risky voting out their BEST challenger. And this is all because David wants Wentworth out? It’s all really stupid to me.
I can’t stand Wardog’s voice, but I’m kind of attracted to him! LOL
Thanks for the recap, Cho!
Voting off Chris was such a dumb move.
Wendy stealing the flint and bitching about NOT killing the chickens was
not a smart idea. Wish we had more Ron Clark camera time.
That was pretty funny when Aurora was talking about Joe & he was squatting silently behind her! LOL!
War Dog gets on my nerves. Bossy Pants!
I was pretty happy for Aubrey when she found the idol.
Someone on another blog said that they would call War Dog Wart Hog until he noticed. That struck me very funny for some reason.
I too was amazed that they didn’t even realize Joe was nearby. They were on a wide open beach and even though Aroura’s back was turned, the guy she was talking to was facing that way.
I feel like it’s probably easier to miss than we can imagine. It’s always really hilarious when that stuff happens though. I bet the returnees get linked up somehow and take over one of the tribes. It’s gonna be really interesting!
Oh God. The early switch is TOTALLY happening to protect the returning players. Those fuckers!
I was looking forward to getting to know the other tribe’s dynamics next week. We have hardly seen them! Now with the three tribes (of four?) I hope we see more of Ron Clark. I also want to see more of Aurora. I really liked her before the show started but she and the other female she was talking to about the men always looking for idols as if the females somehow could not go looking makes me think both off those two need to go.
I’m a little disappointed in how so many people have been neglected. Last season, I felt like everyone was getting some screen time significant or not!
My hope is similar to yours: with smaller tribes, we will get more attention on the dynamics of each and how everyone fits in. Even if they’re smaller clips, I think it helps when the focus is just on like 6 people instead of like 9 or 10!
omg I totally agree. Really stupid behavior on this recent episode. They don’t know that a switch is coming up, but voting Chris off would almost GUARANTEE they lose the rest of the immunity challenges.
And don’t even get me started on Wendy. She’s definitely playing things up for the camera and she’s only survived this long because others are already fucking up royally.
First time posting. Been following for a while. I dislike Kelley and Wardog. I really wish they would of voted her out. Wendy is something else, I really liked her in the beginning but now with the chicken stuff it’s too much, shes being a hypocrite. I understand if she was vegan or vegetarian but she isn’t.
I am not sure what to make of Wendy yet. I do think she is playing for the cameras a bit. Especially with the chicken thing. She is a superfan and the chicken thing has been done before. She’s seeking attention. That said, if she would focus on the game, instead of the cameras, I think she would be a great player.
Was she one of the two people who voted Wentworth out?
TOTALLY agreed.
And yes, Wendy of course voted for Wentworth again. you’d think she would just get the hint that her allies don’t trust her and simply throw everyone under the bus.
Wow thank you so much for stopping by to share your opinion. I really hope you stay for the remainder of the season and comment with us!
I actually love Wentworth. She’s feisty and level headed. She’s definitely really scrappy. Wardog, I think is kind of bossy and overbearing, but it seems like he’s also thinking with his head.
I am really annoyed with Wendy after this episode. She does make good TV and I think she’s definitely going to be one of those characters where you either love her or hate her!
Wendy is trouble. She has trouble with impulse control along with Tourette’s. She does focus too much on the cameras & not enough on her cast mates. Letting the chickens go was foolish. Even if she wanted no part of killing or eating them. They could have eaten the rooster & still had 3 laying hens which would have produced 3 eggs a day. Eggs rice & fish is a good diet for them.
I think that Wendy is trying for some Sia money. Otherwise, what she is doing is insane.
Boom, I was wondering if I was the only one thinking that!
I totally think she wants some Sia money. And I don’t blame her one bit tbh.
Cho- Great recap! My favorite beer is a Corona in an ice cold mug with margarita salt on the rim and two limes. So sad to see Chris go. He is so handsome. Hopefully we will get to see more of him on extinction island. Joe is still my favorite.
Wendy reminds me of Sugar Pie (or Sugar, it’s been so long.). Sugar was all about attention, shaking things up and bad game. I’m not invested in any of them yet. Favorite beer is Blue Moon.
Nooooooooooo, not my guy, not Chrissssssssss!
*Pounding a Bud Light.*
Did Reem really sit on the beach with no fire, despite arriving with a torch?
Isn’t there someone (usually a female) every season who wants to free or does free the chickens? I mean if I were there I would probably want to do the same, or do something that would cause them not to be killed and I’m not a vegetarian or vegan either I just prefer my meat/poultry to come to me all ready to be cooked thank you, I’m not into being anywhere near the vicinity of a fresh kill. If I had to live that way then yes I would become a veg head even tho I love my meat, especially a good burger or steak, but I would def go without meat if it came down to it. U can say what you want, and call me a hypocrite there your words and they bounce off me… lol oh and I never even said that I liked Wendy, I would like to see just once someone who gets voted off to walk towards the fork in the road and have them read the options and decide hell no, I’m outta here and go in the other direction, I would just find it amusing.
