I have been waiting for this show since the second the first episode ended. I wish I could binge it. Mexican Dynasties is my favorite show on Bravo right now. I hope we get to see Adan Allende’s audition for the Mexican Voice, La Voz!
Did I mention I hate that this show comes on after RHOBH? I need it to be on any other night. Preferably, Tuesday. I’m exhausted and it is 1 am but I want to see this freaking episode so I am going to watch and recap now and then review it in the morning whenever I get up tomorrow. EDIT: I SO FORGOT TO POST THIS THIS MORNING. SORRY.

The Madrazos
Oscar and Paulina Madrazos walked through the park and came across a group of people hula hooping. Oscar makes sure to ask if the hula hoop will get his clothes dirty before he tries it. Paulina is the better of the two at this. Everything is a competition with these two.
Why is Oscar always in some sort of military regalia? Is that a fashion statement?
Oscar and Paulina have invited Doris and Raquel and Mari and Fernando over to play canasta with their mother. It seems like their mother is the only one who knows how to play. I think the adults played canasta sometimes when we lived in Libya but mostly they played this couple domino game called 42. It was something the Texans taught everyone and the games would get loud and very serious.

The Allendes
Adan is trying out for La Voz. We did not get to see the audition. The maid and the bodyguard (?) both find Adan utterly ridicuous. Actually, they find Fernado and Mari utterly ridiculous as well. The are hired help the voice of reason on the show. I wish it was shot more like Upstairs, Downstairs or Downton Abbey.
Apparently, Adan did get on the show. However, Fenando had a look at the contract. Apparently, La Voz is just like the American version and American Idol. The winner’s contract is actually a bad deal. I’ve often heard it is best for the contestants not to actually win. La Voz wants half of all his earnings from every song he’s ever done and all future songs.

Later, Elan tries to tell Adan the same thing. Adan tells Elan he has made over $25,000 in is lifetime as an artist and ask how much Elan has made. Then Mari, Elan and Jenny all try to tell him how stupid it would be to sign a contract with La Voz. His brother and sister-in-law are trying to encourage him to get a job and stand on his own two feet. Then his parents come into the conversation and tell him that his lawyers also say it was in his best interest not to do La Voz. Adan finally agrees.
Meanwhile, Elan and Jenny signed with a major Mexican record label. Elan is glad to be back in music since he had to get a real job when his parents kicked him out of the band he was in with Adan. Fernando and Mari don’t support Elan and Jenny at all. They are by fair the better singers of the kids. Mari seems to like Jenny. I’m not sure that feeling is reciprocated. But she will defend Mari to the death. Because, family.

The Canasta Party
Doris is her mom, Raquel’s manager and it seems like a very demanding job. The take a break to go to the Canasta party. So that Raquel can trash talk all the other guests. And their makeup artists. I must agree that Mari’s makeup at the party is atrocious. It’s very pale, even the lipstick. She looked lovely in her talking head though.
When Raquel brings up wanting to meet the twins, Oscar points out that she has already met them. She was at their baptism. And he tells her that she offended them by asking them if they were adopted. The twins and Oscar were in one of the local entertainment magazines that she reads. She seems to think this is funny, Oscar says the kids think she is cold and mean. Then she says she will apologize. And she does. But when Paulina’s little boy comes to give her a hug, she says to someone… Jenny? “This is the ugly one, right?” Raquel got Canasty at Canasta.
Next Week: Doris makes an offer to manage Adan. She wants him to do La Voz. Mari says Doris will manage her son over her dead body. Oscar has an S & M party for his birthday. It’s a family affair.
Ha! Love these people! I asked my girfriend who is from a wealthy family in Mexico City and she said she’s never heard of these people. So I made her start watching with me and she thinks it is hilarious!!
Granted Mexico is a very large country!
I can’t stop watching!
The gay father is EVERYTHING!!
RHONY PREMIERS TONIGHT!!!!!!!
JoJoFll, said, ‘THE GAY DAD IS EVERYTHING!”
Were you talking about Oscar or Fernando? or both?
I believe she was talking about the only dad who is gay.
^TT, if I, unlike Adan, am “catching your drift,” then thank you!!! Just because this man is eccentric and comfortable with himself does not mean that he is gay in any way. Coming from a gay man.
uh huh
I jump into bed with tea for me and treats so the dogs will stay (somewhat) quiet. The xolo got my poodle barking. Which only increased every time Nacho showed up to be the Cameo Chihuahua.
This is so much every Polish family I grew up with. Right down to : “ugly one”.
Love. Love. Love.
I will give it a try. I love your site, I have just started going through the archives and I am really enjoying them. I like when you attach an old post to a new one because some of these stories are new to me. I was curious what you love about this new show. I agree that it comes on too late.
It’s funny. And I really need funny after all these brawling housewives shows.
I was not going to watch this but your two recaps have changed my mind. I will report back once I have caught up. Thanks, TT.
Oscar’s children are lovely. He serms to be a very good parent, communicating with them & requiring them to be well-mannered but still taking up for them. I hope they don’t somehow end up like that annoying 27-yr old child,
Love, love, love this show….
This show rox!
My sisters played Canasta – all night long! I have zero clue how to play -but there is alot of information that I used to hear at the table.
Adan is a character that stand out – he is still living at home, that’s kinda weird but he enjoys his parents and that’s cool, kinda weird that the parents offered their bed (last episode) but with all shows there is weirdness.
I don’t know the names of the characters yet – but I am glad that the dad talked to the women – about asking the kids if they are adopted – holy crap!
Adan reminds me of a unicorn. Elan is gorgeous. I love this show. Also, Oscar seems like an awesome dad.
Where is everyone from last week? I need people to watch this damn show. I AM TIRED OF ALL THE GOOD ONES GETTING CANCELLED!
I’m going to show up at people’s houses and change the channel for them. Don’t think I won’t.
I just wish it was on earlier. This is an 8 pm show that the whole family can watch!
I’m watching and I love it, but I’m still not sure who is who or who goes where. I guess I’ll just rewatch it until I catch on, and that’s not a bad thing. Is Raquel shading everyone with her sort of sideways mean comments, or she just kooky and ditzy? Am I evil because I giggled a little when the little boy was upset after Raquel called him the “ugly” one? It just didn’t seem mean-spirited and he didn’t seem upset until later. Probably I’m evil. xo
I had to walk away from my career to be a stay at home mom for a couple years. This behavior of a fellow parent telling your children how great they are and gushing about them and then the second You turn your back they insult them to the person next to them is classic petty toddler time drama and I am living for it.
I recorded it last night & watched it this morning while I was getting ready for work. I love this show — it’s like watching a reality sit com. I’m confused about how Oscar’s children heard that Raquel asked if they were adopted if she hasn’t seen them since they were baptized. Admittedly, my dog was barking at the neighbors while I was watching, so I may have missed something. I do hope the ratings are high enough to keep this one on for at least a few more seasons.
She had been at their baptism but had seen them sibsequent to that at someone’s wedding (‘Mario’s wedding) but they were younger.
I love this show. the Allendes,Oscar and Mama Bessos are my favorites. Actually, I hope Bravo give the Allendes a spin off. The whole family cracks me up.
Oscar is a great dad. So loving, protective and gives sound advice to his children. I can’t wait for either Adan and Elan or Oscar and Fernando to appear on WWHL.
At first I thought the parents agreed to do this show to showcase Adan and help promote his “singing” career. And that they slighted Elan. Now, I think the parents actually did Elan a favor by showing what a T-Total Twat Adan is, the audience is naturally liking Elan much more. Which means Elan & Jenny will possibly have more of a fan base, sales, etc. in the long run.
I think Raquel was influenced by Joan Rivers. Every time I look at her I am reminded of Joan.
P.S. Adan’s ego is not warranted as far as his “singing” goes. Ey-Yi-Yi!!!
Every time I see Raquel, I see Yolanda Hadid. Sorry in advance if this ruins your viewing experience.
^^^THIS^^^
Raquel is supposed to be the Mexican Joan Rivers. She looks like Mama Dee to me.
I’m watching the show!!! I like first seasons with new people, before they get that “reality show” jaded behavior. I could watch Fernando and Mari all day long, just them and the help.
I also wish I was bilingual, truly bilingual like they are. I love how they just flow back and forth between Spanish and English.
I also heard a new word on this show, “daughtager”. I like it.
Love this show!
Love this show! I didn’t even know it was on until you wrote about it. I have YouTube tv so it takes me a while to watch the recordings. They are fun to watch! Adan is a mommy and daddy’s boy and he annoys me, his brother was really trying to give him good advice and he turned it around on him. I also laughed a bit when the poor boy cried cause they called him ugly it was mean to say it with him there I’m mexican and I know we’re always talking crap but dang she says it in front of the kids, no mercy! I did find it odd that when she said it the mom agreed, maybe she didn’t hear what she said and just said yes to not be rude?
I wondered too about the little boy’s mom (Paulina?) and her response when Raquel called him the ugly one. She just nodded and they went on with playing cards. It seemed like she was nodding without realizing what she was nodding about, but maybe they’re just used to Raquel being sort of outrageous. Poor little guy, but it was funny – ?
Yessss this show is just what we need!! So ridiculous. We rent a ski place in the winter with friends, and they have insisted that we watch it together on the weekends – so there’s a 4-pack of excited viewers tucked away in the mountains every Saturday! That’s for the delightful recaps.
I watched this again and love it more. Oscar is a cute dad, great with his kids and his sort of militia/glam-themed jackets. They’re all funny, maybe edited to be funny, but either way I’m looking forward to more episodes. Raquel’s side-eyeing and shameless critiques are too good. The maids are adorable.
I’m from Mexico City, The Allende family is well known for the dad, he was a very good actor and singer. The Bessudos are very well known else well. I’m happy to see my beautiful City ?. The snacks sold on the street etc.
Hi everyone! I cannot believe, I am finally commenting. After years of lurking! I was born in Mexico City. My Dad’s family are all still there. I love seeing the city. But the cast is everything!! I like that they really are, who they say they are. Unlike the housewives shows. I read all the magazines they mention (Quien, Caras, etc). Raquel always was/is in all of them. She came across a little bit nasty in this episode. I think she feels entitled. The Jewish communty, are very rich in Mexico. They own some of the biggest Mexican brand names. Jarritos is one of them. But I did not like her comments towards the kids. My grandma was very rich. Hung out with ladies like Raquel. But, her friends knew better than to make comments about her grandkids. Somebody needs to yank her off, her high horse!
I can’t get enough of this show!
Hi TT. Did you do a recap of episode 3? I like to read your recaps before watching. Maybe it’s me – I will look again for it.
Never mind as I found it!
I freaked out because I never even got to the Nevermind part. Did I miss an episode? OMG! Then went to the black link box at the top and THERE WAS NO EPISODE THREE!
More freaking out. Did I forget to hit publish? Things have been so busy! What happened was I must not have clicked on the Mexican Dynasties tag so it didn’t show up when using the link bar.
I fixed it. And I am wide awake now. LOL. Thanks for letting me know.
I love this show so much. Can’t thank you enough for recapping ’cause I would never have watched it. What a find!
Thanks Tamara for recapping. I never would have really paid attention to this show because of the time it comes on. After hearing that you like the show, I decided to give it a watch. So funny!!! I like the funny shows that Bravo does sometimes and it’s a nice change of pace.
Alan singing a little of the National Anthem was painful. But funny!!!
