Alex Trebek has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. This makes me terribly sad. I tape Jeopardy every single night and watch it when I have 20 minutes to take a break and grab a bite to eat. This just sucks.
Of course, Alex is composed and extremely optimistic. Please send him some prayers if you do that sort of thing.
Oh no! A hideous disease happening to one of the classiest guys on TV. Horrible news.
OH NO!!!! My prayers are definitely going out to him and his family!
I was hoping I had somehow read this wrong, but now I just hope Mr Trebek and his family have the important time they need with each other to express their love and appreciation for each other.
What a brave soul. Carry on Mr. Trebek.
This is so sad. Godspeed on this journey Mr. Trebek.
That poor family. My mother was diagnosed with the same. We had six beautiful weeks with her.
This breaks my heart. I love him and the show, and my mom watched every night and it was really a wonderful way to keep her mind sharp.
This is so very sad. My prayers are with him and his family ???
He was just on GMA talking about his current tournament and he was so excited.
I adore Alex Trebek and am so sorry to hear this! There is a chance for survival but I don’t think his age (83) will play in his favor.
He is 78. Praying for him! I was really sad to read this.
Expected lifespan for this diagnosis is two to six months. Stage 4 means it has spread to lymph nodes, blood vessels, and other organs. There is no cure.
This particular cancer seems to move rapidly after oxygen hits it for some reason.
I’m still sending positive, healing vibes to Alex and his family. Positive energy is a miracle cure! He said he’s under contract for the next three years.
Yes, I imagine this has been going on for some time. Stage four is not good.
My mother in law was stage 4 and she lasted 16 months.. We got one more birthday .1 more Christmas 1 more mothers day with her with and we were so blessed.
I hate hearing this. Breaks my heart.
Same cancer Terry had. He probably has only months. So sad. Nice guy. I hate to hear this.
I hope he’s not in pain.
As if this week couldn’t get any worse.
He is planning to fight it vigorously. He says he is contactually obligated to host Jeopardy for 3 more years.
I HATE this news and pray for him and his family. This is the cancer that took my grandfather 1 month from diagnosis.
I love that he addressed us fans directly with this news and happy to hear he’s going to fight this horrible CA. What a class act. I became a huge fan when I was stationed in Korea in ’87 on Armed forces network, one station back then, don’t know about now. I actually tried to never miss a show after I got a little addicted…blushing
He’s got my prayers!
So sad to see this because he’s an American icon. Pray he gets better
Aw shoot, that’s not good. My dad died from that, it’s quick, both a blessing and a curse. This is so sad.
Alex Trebek is the only “real man” on TV. Prayers for him and his family.
My best friend is the top pancreatic oncologist in the country. She treated my dad. He got 5 months. 5 long and brutal 5 months. I wish Alex and his whole family more luck than we had. This is a horrible horrible disease.
Long time lurker
Horrible news. I’m sad and praying for him. Luke Perry’s death on Monday and now this. Not a great week.
My big brother would close his bar daily to watch Alex and Jeopardy. The customers knew to order up before it came on and to NEVER call for that time slot. Final Jeopardy answers could be written on your coaster but never shouted Out!
List my bro a few years back. Now this. I hate getting old.
(My Mom and I watched him on “High Rollers” before Jeopardy…Mom ended up liking Alex on there, but never forgot Art Fleming.
So very sad to hear this horrible news. Wishing him peace of mind and days spent with those who love him.
I will pray for him. I watch old episodes of Classic Concentration that he hosted too. Very sad news, he’s such a nice man. Prayers for his family too.
He’s an institution ?
I’m so sad to hear this. We watch Jeopardy every night as a family.
This is so sad. Alexis is a class act. I teared up when I read his interview yesterday where he said he wishes he could have been married to his wife longer. Theyve been married for 29 years and he wants to be with her longer. What a love story.
Well really doesn’t matter what stage you’re at. Lost a few friends to this silent cancer.
It’s quick and fast..unfortunately.
Praying for Alex. My Dad only had 6 more weeks. He was in pain & sedated most of that time.
Generations have grown up with him. Even if you haven’t watched that entire time, there was probably at least one point in your life you did.
Mine was college. Funny story I keep thinking about.
My university is quite near the Canadian border, so we would actually get both the Canadian local stations and the American ones. Side note: This is GREAT for the Olympics. Some Canadian coverage kicks our ass.
Anyway, my senior year a group of us got into the habit of watching it together every night at 7:30, when it was on our local channel. It was a nice break if you had to hit the books that evening, or a good way to unwind if you were finished studying. Of course we shouted out answers. I’m decent at trivia, but not some categories that pop up on Jeopardy.
Well, I discovered that one of the local Canadian stations started showing Jeopardy at 7 PM. I had a TV in my dorm room. It was always the exact same episode that we were watching together at 7:30. So, I’d watch the 7 PM show, get into my lounge wear, and then “casually” head to where we watched Jeopardy together.
I had them going for at LEAST a week and a half, with many exclamations that I needed to try out for the show the next time they had auditions near us. I occasionally would purposely get one wrong just to throw them off.
I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life when someone happened to look at the TV Listings in the newspaper and noticed it was on at 7 PM.
