IT’S THE TAMARA TATTLES ONLINE OSCARS PARTY!
WELCOME TO THE 91ST ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS!
You might not actually hear those words at the start since it is hostless. However, there has been a fun rumor that Whoopi Goldberg might be a surprise host! The official story is that Whoopi is out with pneumonia, which happened right after she was announced as a presenter. Some guy tweeted out his theory when he was watching The View, and it was viral. He later admitted he was stoned. Ha! But it has been fun to think about. However, I don’t think they are that smart.
In the past, they’ve seemed to forget that ABC employee Whoopi hosted AND is an Oscar winner. So, I’m sure it is actually a pot hallucination. Not sure who she’s pissed off there. I always dreamed of an Oscars where she, Billy Crystal, and Robin Williams recreated Comic Relief by hosting together. Even before he proved his douchebag status, I was less than thrilled with the choice of Kevin Hart. You KNOW all it would have been was jokes about who was taller, Kevin or Oscar. Blech.
MY FAVORITES AND OPINIONS
Best Picture
I saw all the Best Picture nominees, in spite of the unusual snowstorms! My favorites are Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, A Star is Born, and Vice. They are all so different, I haven’t picked one yet. I’ll be filling out my ballot right before the show starts, I think. Unfortunately, Roma has a strong chance of winning. It kept my attention, but the plot was a little thin. I didn’t get why the director filmed in black and white. I didn’t hate it like I did last year’s winner, The Shape of Water. That trash was all about a woman fucking a fishman trapped in the same small pool of water for weeks. He ate boiled eggs. (Seriously, can you imagine the smell?).

Acting Awards
As for the other nominees, Bohemian Rhapsody seriously messed with the real timeline in a way I found disrespectful. Rami Malek was deserving of the nomination, but he’s no Jamie Foxx or Joaquin Phoenix. Christian Bale was stunning in one of my surprise favorites, Vice. As for Best Actress, I’m sure it is down to Glenn Close and Lady Gaga. I’m hoping for an historic tie. A side note to my fellow The Crown fans. If you have never seen her work before, we are in for a TREAT with Olivia Coleman. I cannot wait to see her as Queen Elizabeth II now.
In the Supporting categories, Amy Adams was fantastic but I have heard Regina King deserves all the accolades as well. I’m rooting for Sam Elliott for Best Supporting Actor, however Mahershala Ali continues to floor me in his versatility. Won’t be mad if Adam Driver wins either. Since Bradley Cooper was so rudely left out of Best Director, I’m fully rooting for Spike Lee. Alfonso Cuarón will probably get it though.
THE NOMINEES
You can get a decent list to print out here on the Oscars official website. I usually like Vanity Fair’s interactive ballot, as well as their printable one. If you are having a party, there is even a spot to put the score and it is nicely readable. But for quick reference as we watch the big show together, the “big ticket” nominees are:

Christian Bale, Vice
Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born
Willem Dafoe, At Eternity’s Gate

PRESENTERS
They’ve been announcing the presenters off and on the past couple of weeks. There are some good ones. Several from Black Panther and at least one from Crazy Rich Asians. Smart move. Because of its status as an action hero movie, I kind of doubt Black Panther will win Best Picture. Crazy Rich Asians doesn’t have any nominations since the Academy nominates romantic comedies even less than they do horror films. Both movies were big blockbusters and groundbreaking. They certainly will draw more people than Alfonso Cuaron and the cast of Roma.
A good Oscars has a nice mix of the arty farty and the blockbuster, in terms of presenters. Presenters also include Helen Mirren, Pharrell Williams, Tyler Perry, Laura Dern, Jason Momoa, Melissa McCarthy, and Samuel L. Jackson. We can hope someone spills something on Jason Momoa’s shirt before he goes on stage so it comes off. Yum! Also, did anyone see Tyler Perry in Vice? I was pleasantly surprised by both him and the movie itself!
MUSICAL ACTS
The Academy is stepping up its game is in the music, and I couldn’t be more excited. All of the best song nominees are being performed except for All The Stars. Apparently Kendrick Lamar and SZA have timing and logistics issues. I don’t care, get your ass to the Oscars! Or let someone else perform it; give some lesser known performer some exposure or something. It can gain you fans who don’t normally listen to your genre. My dad had never bothered listening to Lady Gaga, or had heard her more “pop” stuff like Poker Face. Then in 2015, Lady Gaga sang the compilation of The Sound of Music songs, in honor of its anniversary. I think my dad’s exact words were “Holy shit, she has some pipes!” Pretty sure he has some of her duets with Tony Bennett on his iPod.
No matter, the rest of the line up is amazing. First of all, the rumor is that QUEEN with Adam Lambert will be opening the show. As irritated as I am about factual mistakes in the movie, I can’t hate Queen. I have been waiting for Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga to sing at the Oscars since I saw the movie. Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson is no slouch. Let’s hope she is wearing something better than the outfit she was wearing when she won her statue. Bette Midler is filling in for Emily Blunt for The Place Where Lost Things Go. My question is, will The Divine Miss M come elegant or dressed as Mary Poppins? It will probably be the former, but it would be so much fun if it was the latter.

THE RED CARPET AND THE BIG SHOW
The Oscars still belong to ABC. If you don’t have ABC or need to watch on a different device, there is a “where to watch” page. This even offers options to our international Tamara Tattles friends! You can even watch some of the red carpet coverage online. If you have social media, there is also Twitter, Facebook, and probably Instagram to check out the outfits. Oh, there is apparently a game you can play while watching. The prize is $50,000. E! Channel is doing their usual in starting a full seven hours before the show starts. However, the first show is boring as hell. All they talk about is fashion and hardly ever the movies. They bring on designers who guess what people will be wearing or what they would choose for them. Ugh.
ABC is also starting at the same time with their pre-shows. Their early coverage is a look at Oscars past AND a look at the Academy’s new museum. So for movie buffs, it might be interesting. Fingers crossed ABC is also stepping up the game on their red carpet hosts. I DON’T want to see Michael Strahan.

UPDATE 1 CHRISTIAN SIRIANO’S Looks I LOVE BILLY PORTER!
Danielle MacDonald
Octavia Spencer
Many successful Hollywood careers are not tied to awards won BUT I want Glenn Close to win the Oscar badly – it’s well overdue and she is deserving of one
I love her and think it’s long overdue too. Did you see The Wife though? It’s not an Oscar worthy performance.
I agree although I think it was the script too. I wish she could have won for a better character but it’s her time. It’s so political in Hollywood.
Olivia Coleman was fantastic-not her time (at least she won the BAFTA)
The MOVIE wasn’t… but she acted her ass off. I am reminded of watching 6 Degrees of Separation. The movie had issues, but Stockard Channing acted her ass off.
I so agree.
I love that movie!! I adore Stockard in that. She played the role in the theater so she walked in with that role down pat. I read an interview where she said she asked if she could keep her wardrobe after filming. It might have even been in the contract. She said it was the first and last time she ever asked.
Fun fact – I think I’ve told this story here before – I saw 6 Degrees with an Academy member on New Year’s Eve. My bff in college was Teri Garr’s niece (by marriage), and Teri and her then husband came to visit for NYE. My BFF invited me and one other to come hang for the holiday even before she knew they were coming if I remember right. Teri grabbed her box of screeners, so needless to say we didn’t bother going to the local video store!
Agree, Glenn Close for the win!
Have y’all seen her in that Series she did a while back called “Damages”? Holy smokes, she was amazing!! It’s on either Netflix or Prime.
Glenn Close is very talented. I remember Damages and she was fantastic!
Tamara, so glad to read your comment about Bohemian Rhapsody and the liberties they took with the timeline. I was looking forward to the movie so much, having been a Freddie Mercury fan since any of us older ones knew was, and having followed his career closely, and it ruined the movie for me. I think Rami Malek did a fabulous job playing Freddy, but it didn’t make up for all the twisted facts and inconsistencies. Funnily enough, my younger relatives in England raved about the movie, but all they really knew was Freddy and his musical genius, and nothing of the path he took to superstardom.
I don’t have a favorite amongst the nominated movies because I haven’t seen them all, but can’t wait to see Jason Momoa. He’s right up my elderly alley – tall, tanned and exotic. In fact, if anyone could wake up my once rampant but now long-deceased hormones, it would be him. Well, him, Dwayne Johnson, and Sean Connery. It would probably take all three of them. Also looking forward to seeing my long-time favorite, Helen Mirren. To me she’s the perfect woman, a lady in public and with a fierce, raunchy sense of humor in private.
…knew who he was..
I admit I’ve only seen Bohemian. Please explain what was inaccurate. I didn’t follow Queen enough to know.
I didn’t grow up listening to Queen but my hubby loved Queen and he said the shows and songs performed weren’t accurate in timeline sequence. I had no clue and thought the movie was great.
I didn’t know that! I mean, I listened to them but it wasn’t a deep dive of knowing every band member’s name. I was only 14 when Live Aid happened.
I was going to buy “Bohemian Rhapsody” for my son for his birthday-should I? I mean it’s worth seeing, right? I don’t get out much.
Wow Apologies. I forgot to put Erica’s byline on this post. She’s the Awards and Music expert around these parts. I know NuthinTHINK!
Well, more like Useless Trivia expert. Not even that into music believe it or not = I just like what I like and I love movies!
EnglishRose,
It was me with the opinion! The 14 year old me who remembers watching Live Aid at home was deeply offended. The practical me gets why they sometimes need to add or condense the drama in a bio pic to have a satisfactory “climax” to the story. A movie must have an end, and Live Aid was an obvious choice.
SPOILER ALERT! By discussing the inaccuracies, I spoil the movie (although we all know Freddie died, and that they kicked ass at Live Aid)
about to spoil so stop reading:
OK…. in the movie they show Freddie going to a clinic BEFORE Live Aid and finding out he has HIV/AIDS. Shit, I don’t even think they called it HIV then. Remember, this is the 80s, and few survived that diagnosis as there weren’t the antiviral meds they have now. He then goes and makes up with his bandmates (they were having a bit of a rough patch… I won’t go into that part) They get on the Live Aid roster. Now, for you young folk, Live Aid is worthy of a Google. It was, and still is the biggest concert event ever. It was world wide, all to raise money for Africa, which was suffering from a massive famine.
EVERYONE who was anyone in that time period performed. Either in Wembley Stadium in the UK or Philadelphia, if I remember right, plus smaller venues? Anyway, HUGE names. Madonna, U2, Bruce, all in their hey dey. Queen’s popularity was on a downturn, esp. in the USA. Some considered them “has beens”
They weren’t even on the advertising.
Then Freddie stepped on stage and it was electrifying. He had the entire world singing and clapping with him. I know, I was one of them!
So the movie implies that Freddie knew he was dying and this was his “last chance”.when in fact he didn’t get his diagnosis until AFTER Live Aid, by almost a year. HIs boyfriend (shown in the movie) and his best friend/love of his life/former fiance both have confirmed that. I think the BAND even has said in the past when Freddie told them he had AIDS, and it was well after the Live Aid moment. Keep in mind, two of the band members were involved with this film.
It didn’t need the added drama. I think the reality was enough.
Thank you, Erica. How lucky you are to have seen Freddie in person. I have the DVD of Live Aid at Wembley, and Queen was electrifying. Freddie owned that stage!
Oh, I wasnt in person, I had the TV on and watched it live… I was only 14.
Ok, I understand now. Fucking with someone’s diagnosis/timeline does seem distasteful. So when we’re thinking “He’s singing (whatever) because he knows he’s dying. I get it. Being as you were in the audience makes it very personal for you and understandably so. You were there!! I’m definitely getting it for Nick, he’s a talented musician and loves all the old stuff. Freddie Mercury was AMAZING. I didn’t get it then but realized my love for opera was spurred by his music. He was phenomenal.
Wish I could edit comments. I saw it live from my TV 🙂 Live Aid took over our televisions 🙂
I think the reason for this (diagnosis timeline) is the movie ended at Farm Aid. It would have been odd to drag out the movie to accommodate the diagnosis. Since the movie was not a documentary and not about him having HIV, I understood where they were coming from.
The scene where he was leaving the clinic and the guy on the bench chants a few words to him? Walking down the hallway? That so cold have been the ending after Live Aid. THEN bust into what happened and show us the real pictures.
Problem solved, and I think would have given the audience the gut punch a diagnosis was and is.
Sean Connery. The ONLY Bond that counts. I fell in love with him in Darby O’Gill & the Little People.
Just started watching…I am so tired, don’t think I’m going to get very far tonight but how can Helen still look so amazing!? Loved her so much in Prime Suspect, huge fan ever since!
English Rose, you named every single person in my fantasy jar – Jason, Dwayne, and Sean! I’d have to add Idris Elba though.
And I’ve always had a girl crush on and total admiration of the great Helen, she”s amazing. I’m exactly 20 years her junior, so she gives me hope that someday I could rock that gray hair as fine as she does. Her outfits are always perfection.
If my hair turns out similar to my folks when I go white, I will totally rock it. That is the Plan with my hair person.
But right now the white would make me look like a deformed skunk. So still doing the dying.
Damn!! Just woke up after falling asleep from sheer boredom-too much rain!!! Who won? AND I missed the party!! Wah!!
The Oscar’s are tonight, Sunday. You havent missed anything.
Good thoughts. I really want Glenn Close to win. Brilliant actress who makes it look so easy, she’s never won. If anyone hasn’t seen Dangerous Liaisons, watch it. A MASTER class in acting. To me, she deserved it then. And she was perfect in Fatal A. I’m not so enamored with Bohemian. It was good with the music scenes, but it’s not best picture worthy to me. And as great as he was a as Freddie, I agree others have been better. The best acting skill was Bale becoming Cheney. Ali was wonderful in Green Book, although Viggo certainly was a transformation. I love the red carpet and miss Joan Rivers.
Wait? Has Glenn Close never won? I figured she had a closet full of Oscars like Meryll Streep!
Nope! She’s the Susan Lucci of the movies!
She said either way she wins. Either she goes home with the Oscar or the record stands.
Have to say, so proud of Olivia Coleman. Even if she doesn’t win, she has went from bit part tv comedy actress to Oscar Nominated Actress, Olivia Coleman. Go Brits!!!
Thanks for all the wonderful programming information, TT! I’m ready to watch the Oscars now.
We’re having 60 mph winds in Pittsburgh today and the TV reception is going in and out. Mother Nature bet get it together by 1 pm so I can watch the pre-Oscars coverage as well as the Oscars. See everyone later in the comments. Yippee!!
Charge your devices! You can always make your phone a mobile hotspot and watch online on a bigger screen device or something.
That was my back up plan if we’d had a snow storm. Ha.
Streaming options – follow the link in the blog.
Thanks for the tip, Erica! All our phones were fully charged as the entire house fell asleep and woke up to see Rami Malik win his Oscar.
Thanks for this website, TT!
Glad it worked…. I’ve been without power for close to a week before. Not fun!
Again, this is all Erica. all I did was post it!
Here I am thinking I am all hot shite because I knew you didn’t write it. Not that I think that you aren’t up on the movie stuff, but because you AND all of your writers have such distinct voices. And each is perfect for what they write about.
I’ve seen all the Best Picture nominees & I think Roma is over-rated. To me, it was like watching somebody’s old home movies. Definitely not Best Picture IMO.
I thought Rami Malik’s performance was unbelievable! He sounded so much like Freddy Mercury that I first thought they dubbed his music. RM FTW!!
Also pulling for Sam Elliott. He was amazing in ASIB and I’d like to see him win!
Heading to Disney in a couple of hours so will not watch until Wednesday.
Sweetie… it WAS dubbed. No one sounds like Freddie.
In fact, the rehearsal scenes bugged me. When I used to work out, I often worked out to Queen. They used some of the best performances he gave in “it could be better, do it again” scenes. They couldn’t have done something to make it sound different? I swear I could tell which album it was from. Surely they have rehearsal tapes somewhere.
On Entertainment tonight they profiled a Canadian Singer named Marc Martel who has a voice very similar to Freddy Mercury. They blended his and Freddie’s actual voice for the movie. He really sounds a lot like him IMHO. You can see him in various YouTube videos.
Wow. This was an amazing post TT. A lot of hard work went into this and I love it!!
It was all Erica! I feel terrible I forgot, it was late and I forgot! 🙁
Thanks TT and Erica! I heard that Barbara Striesand was asked about 3 weeks ago to present, which might imply that “A Star is Born” may sweep? I think Bradley could get it for best actor, but I think Glen Close will get it for “The Wife”!
I TOTALLY FORGOT TO MENTION THAT BARBRA STREISAND WAS SLATED TO ANNOUNCE ONE OF THE BEST PICTURE NOMINEES!
I’m so excited. I think it is great she did that – she came across as lukewarm when I saw her in an interview and was asked about ASIB, but I think that is just her tone unless she is actually acting.
Can’t wait to see what she’s gonna wear. Will it be Donna Karan mumu Barbra? I kind of hope so…
Love me so much some Babs. I like this version better than hers though, truth told.
Erika!!
weird story – Barbra has tweeted that she is at home right now (?) after accepting an award from UCLA – i read as well that Barbra was involved in the oscars!
OMD melissa mccarthy! she is the world! her hand puppet!!!
That was 45 minutes ago and she has a huge compound in Malibu, so she can still be there for best picture which won’t be for another two hours are more. I doubt Barbara wants to sit through a three plus hour award show.
Or she’s not coming.
Time will tell.
She came, and it was great.
Good morning Erika
Epic moment – watching her glide to the front stage! It felt like she was cut off – while introducing Spike Lee’s movie. She was awesome!
I think Spike might have asked to have her present… when he yelled out Brooklyn! I loved it. I love that she tweeted to her, and that he sent her a thank you. Very cool.
I am likely the only one here looking forward to the underdog musical performance. (AND Gaga and Cooper, of course.) Gillian Welch and David Rawlings are two of my top favorite singers, songwriters, performers. (They appeared in Oh Brother, Where Art Thou.) Welch sounds like Appalachia, but grew up in L.A., where her parents worked on music for Carol Burnette Show. David Rawlings is one of the best guitarists I’ve ever seen — and I have seen ALL the (older) greats. I hope the camera shows his playing. He is a NATIONAL TREASURE!
Thanks for the heads up Nanette, love hearing about your music escapades and trust your judgement!
I hope I can stay awake for this tonight Erica!
I loved Bohemian Rhapsody. My kids are Queen lovers because they’ve heard them growing up. It’s fun seeing younger generations enjoy the story and gain a deeper appreciation for Freddy Mercury.
What a kind comment. I just saw David Rawlings in the background of Rancic’s interview (makes all the yuck time watching her worth it!) with Gaga. He is wearing a cream Western jacket with red yoke and rhinestone embriodery. (I need to start making Western clothes again.)
BILLY PORTER!!
Cooking is taking longer……. just logged on to say this!
He is covering thr red carpet on ABC
Billy Porter is EVERYTHING!!!!!!
At last someone who knows what he’s talking about….. with star quality and pizazz
Joan must be clapping her approval upstairs
I will watch all futur Whatevers if He is the Red Carpet commentator !!!!!
Also love Ashley Graham! She outshines all the other ladies..and they make a great duo
Updated Post with photos of Christian Siriano’s looks for Billy Porter OMG IT IS EVERYTHING! As well as Danielle MacDonald and Octavia Spencer. LOVE LOVE LOVE Christian Siriano for dressing ladies of all shapes and sizes!
Tim Gunn called Siriano a prodigy in a preview of his winning season. He has gotten better every year. I am REALLY looking forward to seeing him on PR next month.
Who the hell dressed Glenn Close? Le sigh. Well on the ABC carpet at least you can see the cape. She says it weighs 42 pounds. surely that was an exaggeration.
Charlize Theron looks fantastic in gray!
Holy Hell! Ryan Seacrest is doing BOTH red carpets. I like him, but wow.
Jlo’s no sugar no carbs diet seems to have done her body good. That mirrored dress is everything! I wish I had her starting point! lol…
Love Queen Latifah’s dress!
Le Sigh-o-rama! That getup is heinous! Joan Rivers must be getting the vapors in Heaven.
Omg Charlize is perfection!
Where the fuck is Gaga?!!
I feel like we MISSED HER! ARGH!
Uhgg!
She was on the E! Channel a few minutes ago. So she likely will show up on the other coverage soon. Looking gorgeous. Her makeup is perfection. And the necklace. A GIANT yellow stone — guessing canary diamond. MAYBE imperial topaz?
Thank you Nanette.
I saw her @ the very end.
Maybe I’m old school, but Billy Porter in a gown? A resounding NO. Charlize Theron looks stunning.
That;s not “old school” it’s “close-minded” and expecting everyone else to live their lives according what you find acceptable. Thankfully, those days are over.
I’m not close minded Tamara. I just didn’t like it. I don’t expect anyone to live their life according to my expectations. Just my opinion.
I also can’t stand Jennifer Hudson and I think her voice sucks
Hey there Erika!!
totally overwhelmed by Adam Lambert kicking butt – perfect opening for the lame oscars show! He totally should have been the lead in that Rhapsody film!
That was a GREAT way to kick off the show. I watch all the American Idol seasons and it is always great to see Adam Lambert and Jennifer Hudson doing so well.
i rember them on Idol as well – Adam and Jennifer both showed Simon that they are winners and people WANT them!
I love quite a few of the gowns, and really like how Tina Fey looked, she usually wears black or red. Jlo, Helen Mirren, omg, so beautiful. Amy Adams, beautiful. I liked how Zoe Kravitz looked but Jason Mamoa, just no, he looked like the suit was too small for him, no disrespect to Lagerfeld. Then again, Mamoa could wear nothing at all and I would be fine with it.
whoa! Just watched J’lo – what is she wearing? a mirror dress? wow – she’s going to be on after the commercials – not sure how long we are going to watch – not used to these damned commercials.
It is very annoying when the winners of “minor”awards take as much time as the “majors” and eat into the “important” winners’ time. I LOVE Costume Design, but when they take up a lot of time, they put that category in jeopardy of not being televised next year. (Hair and makeup three people taking too long with their sputtery speech.) Originally, the decision was to only have two musical nominees perform. All the hokey jokey crap is NIT MISSED. Roma coming on strong so far.
Those hair and make-up people were painful to watch.
I liked the costume designer’s speech. She didn’t ramble, and it was an historic moment in terms of it.
But they bitched about it being presented during commercial and then make it boring as fuck.
I think that they should time the order so that when someone rambles on, instead of cutting them off musically – just cut to commercial. A time to pee break!
Not a fan of Jennifer Hudson’s outfit. She did a good job with her song, but I’ve heard her do better.
Billy Porter single-handedly saved ABC’s coverage. The rest of them can go, he’s amazing and authentic. I loved his enthusiastic joy.
I wish I had known he was going to do the carpet. I would have switched of E! much earlier!
He was awesome!! I agree.
I don’t miss the host at all.
Michelle Yeoh looked stunning presenting with Pharrell Williams! Oscars perfection!
Can’t wait for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper to sing……
Did i miss it?
Saving the best for last.
Ty
Fuck!
Gillian and Rawlings were brilliant! Loved their clothes. (I have a weakness for vintage Western and vintage-inspired Western.) His guitar playing is such a unique sound. Not many play with the capo so low. XOXOX them!
I think Gaga is truly in love with Bradley….
Me too!
Me three! Their performance was beautiful tonight.
I think she LOVES him, but not IN love. But IF it were mutual, I would cheer. They both got VERY into character during their performance and their love for each other was palpable. The music performances this year have been outstanding. It would have sucked to have only two like in the original plan (I would guess Gaga and Queen). I like it SO MUCH MORE without a host. More time for speeches and to see the fashions. I know SEVERAL people who stopped watching Oscars because of the stupid cornballity stuff who are watching tonight.
I think that whole cast developed a deep bond. Andrew Dice Clay, who has worked with some amazing directors in the past, said it was such a great working experience that he isn’t sure he wants to do another film because it will be a let down. That now he’s kind of inspired to work on his stand up again. (I hope he changes it a bit though)
BC and Gaga gave me chills!!
Made me ? ! It’s a beautiful song and the way they sat together at the end was perfect.
Go Spike!!!???
Gaga and Bradley were great. I LOVE how they staged that
I am so thrilled for Spike Lee!
Goodnight everyone!
Thanks for keeping me updated.
Love yous.
After this bountiful gift of an awards show, the Whiskey Cavalier sneak peek is on. I think it’s the entire pilot. What a night! Thanks for the fun party TT, and ? to Erica for your splendid info-packed “invitation” to the party. (And tomorrow the penultimate episode of I Am the Night! I may plotz for joy!)
Make up and hairstyling, is one of the artists wearing Teresa Guidice’s reunion dress? Looks nicer on a smaller chest.
I think Christian Bale got robbed, and rami rambled.
Surprise WIN in Female Lead Actress! I feel sorry for Glenn Close, but I love this woman and her speech!
And that is what we call British Humor, by the way!
I cannot wait for her in The Crown.
The movie grew on me too. She deserved the win. The problem is I think so did Glenn!
OH MY GOD! OLIVIA COLEMAN!
She just gave the best speech…
And SURPRISE WIN! For Green Book!
Finally saw Lady Gaga’s full dress. I was distracted by all the emotion when she won. It’s Alexander McQueen with those dramatic hip pad things that I hate so much on Project Runway. I did think it looked great on her, but all anyone was looking at was THE Tiffany Diamond. How the hell she got to wear that with no heavy presence of body guards around her is amazing.
That rock is $30 million!
I would be in full anxiety mode, wearing something that huge, on such a teeny tiny little strand, worth even a fraction of that amount! I would be constantly touching it the whole time just to be sure it’s still attached.
And with my luck, it would fall off in the toilet just as I’m flushing it, making it impossible to grab. That’s why I can’t have nice things.
Well gang, sorry I wasn’t in here more. Doing two complicated recipes that took longer than I expected – next year I’m ordering pizza. Also was checking email a lot for updates on a sick relative.
All in all, it was awesome seeing Queen. I thought the musical performances were good, with Gaga and Cooper being awesome. I thought filming it from the stage perspective was awesome. I kind of want them to be in love, but I also don’t want him to be a douchebag and leave the mother of his child. (I don’t know if they are married, so if his partner could cheat on him or suddenly discover she’s a lesbian and run off with someone – is Melissa Ethridge single? She’s stolen a few wives away from men, hasn’t she? Then Bradley could fall into Gaga’s arms and they could literally make beautiful music together.
This was fun Erika
I hope your family situation works out. In various interviews Lady Gaga spoke so openly about Bradley Cooper’s encouragement and direction in her “technically” first filming on screen. Bradley Cooper said in an interview that he was not going to be “in character” he would just sing – wow that worked out awesome. What won it for me – when the people rolled out the piano and both just walked to the stage – zero pretense felt.
had tons of fun Erika!
Got news that the toddler is doing better (that is the family member sick) – still in hospital, but she and Daddy had a better night’s sleep. (Respiratory infection going on – and we have a family history of asthma).
And got to agree that the performance worked out awesome. I heard that when they got the best song nom, BC immediately texted Gaga with an idea on how to do it. I thought the camera angle idea was BRILLIANT. He sang it as himself, but that was so evocative of the film
It’s lame that they skipped Carol Channing in the in memorium section. I know they skip people every year but, it doesn’t make it suck less.
Spike Lee has been an icon forever and just got his first award? Glen Close has never won an award? I’m speechless!
YouTube Lady Gagas and Bradley Coopers performance-it was SOOO good!! I just ❤️ her!!
Ukch.
24 hours after I couldn’t stop thinking about Gaga and Bradley’s performance! They have to be so in love. I never knew she had such a voice! and now I’m like OMG. They’re everywhere. The way he moved the microphone stand and sauntered over to her- it’s hard not to be a little in love with him! Fun to watch next day everyone talking about it! I watched the film last night holy F are they good and it is SUPER SAD. ? a heartbreak of a film. Wow it was a really refreshing moment.
Y’all continue to reinforce my decision not to go to this movie. It sounds like The Notebook with a really depressing soundtrack.
Sadly, Bradley Cooper is (allegedly) gay! There is no romance — and if they ‘date’ it is an arrangement. He’s hot!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! ROFLMAO.
Got I needed this stupidity today.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
And you are a fat cunt. Send me to WLS, bitch.
Cooper is NOT gay FAKE NEWS!
But, but…. the gays love him and especially because of an erotic gay scene he did in a comedy when he was first starting out! He has to be gay, right?
YUP! Still hilarious. Not much makes me laugh during tax season, but this is just hysterical.
Thank you. He can’t be. My gaydor is never off. I’ve heard the rumors too and it’s mainly because he speaks French.
Wait. Let me say that again. HE SPEAKS FRENCH.
Le sigh.
I had to come back tonight (Tuesday) just to laugh at this again.
Bwahahaha bwahahaha bwahahaha bwahahaha!
What is funnier, the original or your responses? TIE!
Plus… it is so damn hot that he doesn’t bother to respond… that he doesn’t give a fuck if someone thinks he’s gay.
Shangela, who auditioned for a smaller part and got a bigger role, has been NOTHING but complimentary about Bradley Cooper, and his direction and how he wrote the drag scenes so authentically where the queens were not the butt of the joke, etc.
Love him!!!
It was magic between the two of them.
I am watching my recording of Red Carpet with Billy Porter as The King of Interviewers. The opposite of Guliana Rancic. I don’t know why Twitter is blowing up over her interview with Bradley Cooper. It is ALWAYS ALL ABOUT HER!
I used to like G, then at some point, she decided it was about HER and not the stars, or the fa-SHUNS (as she says). Here she had opportunities to comment on some of the best designs and interview some of the most interesting stars … and we get to hear about Duke’s first poopie. Or whatever…
Billy Porter’s tuxedo dress rocked my world. Siriano said he had a week to do it, fit it on one of Porter’s assistants and it fit Porter PERFECTLY. The hip paddings on Gaga’s dress remind me of modern-day panniers. I wonder if they will be the next thing.
I typically do NOT follow celebs on my Insta. I was stupid about who I accepted as facebook friends (combining work and close friends) so I’ve been extra vigilant about Instagram, really making it how I keep in touch with family or find motivation. For the longest time the only famous people I followed were Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat Pray Love fame) and Wacha. Not Andy Cohen, but just his dog.
Now I’m following Christian Siriano – every Oscar dress he made fit IMPECCABLY, and nothing more so than that tuxedo dress. It was amazing.
I hope you saw the clip of Glenn Close seeing it for the first time. Her reaction was EV. REY. THING.
Christian needs to get his hands on her the next time she does the award season circuit. (Actually, I could see HER rocking the tuxedo dress next.

I finally saw “A Star Is Born” today in the theatre! I’m in love with Lady Gaga I always have been but this really was special. Bradley Cooper? No words. I’m so happy I got to see this on the big screen, they brought it back “encore, extended” version, I have no idea what was different from the original release…it was 2hrs 28mins and it flew by!
