Is the fun bus really leaving Real Housewives of Orange County? On Jeff Lewis’s radio show last Friday, he opened the show claiming that Vicki Gunvalson had been demoted for season 14 of the Real Housewives of Orange County. He apparently received this news from his friend Shannon Beador. He called Kelly Dodd to confirm the news. She did not confirm or deny the story but that was what the streets were saying. She is also sidling up to Braunwyn Windham Burke, one of two women who were filmed test shooting prior to the season.
Jeff Lewis made a point to publicly fat shame Vicki Gunvalson using all sorts of derogatory names when speaking publicly about her. This stems from his close relationship with Shannon Beador. Whenever Vicki and Shannon were on bad terms, Jeff would make vicious attacks on Vicki’s looks. When Jeff announced that he and his partner, Gage Edward had split, Vicki posted on social media, “That is what he gets for being so awful to people, including me.” Both Jeff and Kelly Dodd have vendettas against Vicki so it is hard to take them seriously. Kelly threatened to quit if Vicki was not fired. I reached out to Tamara Tattles exclusive west coast sources. Let’s sip that tea.
The Talent Agreement
Vicki Gunvalson’s contract came up for renewal at the end of season 13. In January, Vicki had a conversation with Evolution Media about her story trajectory on the show going forward. Production often does this with the talent prior to pitching the new season to Bravo.
When contracts came out for season 14, Vicki did not hear anything. As the filming season drew closer, Vicki became concerned that she has missed some correspondence from Evolution Media. Vicki asked her attorney to check in regarding her contract renewal.
The Final Offer
Vicki Gunvalson posted on social media that she was “still in negotiations.” But negotiations are long over as far as Evolution Media is concerned. Primary filming begins at the end of this week.
Braunwyn Windham Burke (Bella) is not the only younger newbie testing for a spot on the show. There is one other that production spoke with over the weekend. They could likely move forward with five oranges and one or two new friends. Some of you seem to think she is a done deal as a full-time housewife. It’s way to early know who things will end up.
I find this treatment of Vicki Gunvalson even more abhorrent than the way they treated Kenya Moore. She is the last original member of the original franchise that spawned this massive money making venture. Despite her often very shady, morally corrupt and at times bordering on the illegal behavior on the show, that is the sort of behavior that Bravo continuously rewards. Vicki made that decision. But, I would think that once they were done with her they could show a modicum of decency while pointing her toward the exit.
The callous way that production and Bravo dismiss housewives is just another cog in the misogynistic wheel that is Bravo. Yet it is one of the most popular channels for women. And one of the favorite pastimes of female viewers is bashing the women on the show.
