Girl Power?

Hurricane Flo blew through South Carolina hard in September2018.  Southern Charm was supposed to start filming but instead everyone was evacuating.  All the cast headed off to different places and straggled back to town when they felt like it. Shep Rose went on some sort of tour of the country.  Then he got stuck in Dallas or somewhere for a few extra days. Speaking of Shep Rose, on the upcoming season it’s pretty much all girl power and love with the female cast now that Ashley Jacobs is gone. That is probably why production kept on trying to get some conflict by bringing Ashley in as the stooge, But the girls weren’t having it.

About A Girl

For those of you who are asking where the conflict is this season if there is not some insane dolphin or call girl to stir the pot, from what I hear it is with the guys. Shep Rose and Austen Kroll may have some bad blood because Madison LeCroy is back this season. I believe Madison LeCroy is “the new cast member” that Patricia Altschul has referred to on Twitter as “a spitfire.” The girls like her for the way she dealt with the guys and have welcomed her to the group.

Click HERE For More Southern Charm Exclusives

Madison LeCroy, if you recall, is/was Austen’s girlfriend last summer. Just a couple of months before filming was scheduled to begin, a video of Madison LeCroy walking into Austen Kroll’s house one day and finding him cheating with two girls he picked up at a bar made the rounds on the Internet. Not too long afterward, Madison LeCroy announced on social media that she was still with Austen Kroll claiming that the video was old and they were not exclusive at the time the video was made.  Doesn’t it go without saying that when you walk in on your man in a threesome that you were not in an exclusive relationship? It appears that by the end of filming they are no longer together.

Southern CharmBoys Will Be Boys

They were still together as of Thanksgiving, but that was early on in Southern Charm filming and the streets are saying that Shep Rose interfered in their relationship in some way. I take that to mean that Shep Rose put the moves on her. Because Shep Rose is an asshole like that. Shep Rose has always been a dick to Craig Conover so I think we will see a closer friendship season with Craig Conover and Austen Kroll... at least after the Madison LeCroy situation happens (if that is indeed what happens) and the two bond over what a piece of garbage Shep Rose is. He’s really well suited for Ashley Jacobs though. Ashley Jacobs  is the female version of Shep Rose.

Craig Conover has been dating a girl named Larissa on and off. I don’t think it is that serious but I haven’t been paying it much attention. That said, whatever drama occurred between the guys seems to have resolved itself. They all seemed fine together at the finale. (more on that in part four)

Southern Charm
Kathryn and Danni, dressed to kill…foxes.

Strike Three

This brings us to the fox hunt that had everyone losing their minds. Everyone except Patricia Atlschul and Whitney Sudler-Smith were in attendance. Production sent Ashley Jacobs as a guest of Eliza Limehouse. The fox hunt was at the Limehouse Plantation. The actual name of the plantation is Airy Hall Plantation. I just call it the Limehouse Plantation so you know what I am talking about. The cast didn’t know Ashley would be there. But, shouldn’t they have guessed after the last time they were there? The whole fox hunt was likely added after production realized that Kathryn had a previous commitment that conflicted with the first plantation outing. Again with the whole, “it didn’t work the first time but let’s just keep on trying” strategy.

Click HERE For More Southern Charm Exclusives

A note for those of you appalled by the fox hunt. Because of filming, this was most likely a drag hunt. On a drag hunt, just before things get started, a scent meant to alert the hounds is spread on a specified route before the dogs are released. Then,. everyone rides with the dogs on horseback in their best fox hunting finery. I am reasonably sure no foxes were involved, let alone killed in the fox hunt.
I need this in my life.

Cast Mutiny

The cast didn’t react to it as calmly to Ashley’s Jacobs presence as they did the first time. Thank God for the mobile bar. They were pissed at  Aaron Rothman for pushing the same storyline hoping to get a different result. They wanted to showcase other storylines they had going on instead. This is the third time that he has tried to trot out the despicable Ashley Jacobs.  This disrupted the natural flow of the series. All of  Ashley  Jacob’s appearances are completely unnatural and unnecessary. They  result in nothing more than annoying the actual cast. Ashley Jacobs was mostly ignored once again until production insisted that Kathryn Dennis speak to her.

Click HERE For More Southern Charm Exclusives

Ashley tried to apologize to Kathryn. Kathryn supposedly listened to her and let her hug her at the end in hopes that would give Rothman the closure he wanted and end things once and for all. But it didn’t. Strike three for production.

Part four: Last verse same as the first. Rothman tries it one more time… Guess how it works out the fourth time?

So basically, Aaron Rothman and Haymaker are so desperate for salacious storylines that they make light of an abuser’s dark trail and abuse and reinserting his (ex-?)girlfriend/”business partner” into the show in hopes of starting some shit. No, this is just plain shitty. Again, did no one at Bravo warn him about what happens when show producers insist on dragging out storylines involving troubled people and/or horrible crimes (RHODC White House party-crashing, RHONJ Giudices’ life of crimes, RHOBH Kim Richards’ addiction struggles, and RHOC Brooks-Cancer-gate)?

Poor Kathryn having the awful Ashley hug her. ?

Just pathetic for Aaron Rothman to really think women are that dumb.

Kathryn certainly isn’t that dumb! However, Ashley will obviously come out of all this looking an even more pathetic creature than she did last season.

Curious about the timing of Austen’s maybe girlfriend. Patricia posted a photo of her at Cam’s baby shower. Were Austen and Victoria dating then? Was that part of the reason for the strife?

Can’t wait to watch this show again. I was really relieved that the fox hunt only involved (hopefully) dogs following a scent, rather than actually tracking and killing foxes. When I was growing up in England, every Boxing Day, people got in their cars and drove all over the countryside following the hunt. My brother and I were always dragged along, and hated everything except the part where we stopped at some country pub and had a nice meal, and a glass of fizzy lemonade (7-Up). I don’t remember ever being anywhere near a kill, so with any luck the foxes got away. It’s quite a spectacle if it’s done only for show – somewhat like the old-fashioned Christmas cards with the horses and their red and black clad riders racing across a field in the snow. It’s banned in the U.K. now, which is a really civilized move forward.

I’m with you hoping for a fake or unsuccessful hunt, Rose. And I enjoy your stories about growing up in the UK 🙂

Thanks, T, for describing the possible drag hunt. That would be a great way to simulate the event, showcase the countryside and show off the outfits without a kill.

The dogs won’t run if there is not a scent to chase. So if they don’t do a drag hunt and no fox is in the area the dogs won’t hunt and they won’t get any footage. So obviously, it will be a drag hunt unless they release a fox or two or just get lucky and one wanders by.

What a relief. We have foxes in the suburbs, so I figured there’d be a lot in the SC woods. I see them at night and we hear their wails during mating season—they sound like a person screaming for help, which had us searching the neighborhood the first time we heard them.

Patricia said Whitney had absolutely no say so in Ashley’s appearances even though he is part of Haymaker, so does it look like her statement is accurate that Ashley’s role truly is minuscule at best?
So many OTHER lies….Remember when Ashley said she was NOT going to film getting her nails done with Eliza, as it was a setup because she hates KD and Ashley didn’t want to do that??
Recently Ashley said she was under contract with Ryan Trout. (For what? Kickball?). I don’t know how pleased he is with her….I saw a .5 second clip on one of his stories where a girl was doing the classic Ashley hair flip and stomping her foot. It was so fast you’d miss it, but it was clear what it was.
(All of this I saw myself). Great job TT!! This custody thing is more than brutal, I hope nothing gets covered up in court. Their real life is more interesting than the show!

Even though Whitney was behind the initial concept of the show (It was supposed to be about southern gentleman BWAHAHAHAHHAHA) once he began filming with the cast he lost any creative control. He has no decision making power regarding storylines. He does have that power on Savannah and New Orleans franchises though.

In our area, fox-hunters are primarily hunting coyotes.

I was about to post just that. We now have coyotes in the area because fox hunters who brought them in to pursue those in lieu of foxes left the cages open.

Enjoying the posts quite a bit with the insight you provide. There are more large tracts of land in SC than I’d realized before this show sent me searching the web. A lot of them mention property kept primarily for hunting. I was remembering the long drive back in to KD’s house as I was reading a story about a large house burning because fire trucks had access problems along the 1-2 mile driveway to the house.

I’m shocked Plan B would involve herself so what was she promised ? Money or a full time slot on this show? Or, did Thomas owe a favor to Haymaker? Her sense of self seems to be lacking IMO to allow herself to be used this way.

Also, am loving Kathryn’s outfit. The lace dripping juxtaposed with the wool militayesque coat with the brass buttons and the pop of red in hat and boots. Very goth Southern belle with a modern twist. She has the height, looks and coloring to carry it off. That was a little fangurlish but that is how much I love it. Ashley would collapse under the weight of it as it swallowed her whole.

That producer is trying to manufacture drama. Doesn’t he realize We. See. Through. It. My other favorite show, Big Briother, often falls into the same trap of putting in a lot of lame twists thinking this will be exciting and raise ratings. Both shows are better when things happen organically. I love that drama.

There is no drama, why the show runner is trying create some. You have to admit Thomas was the main character/villain on this show and now there is a big void. Kathryn only storyline was fighting with Thomas. So now what? Watch her change from one Halloween costume to another. This show is done.

The real Southern Charm for five seasons has been Thomas and Kathryn. Ashley is a bad idea and has serious issues but the show needs some kind of storyline to continue viewer interest. Watching them drinking in a bar week after week and picking on Craig won’t cut it. They need to integrate new people into the show. Madison is a real stunner.

I agree as well! Kathryn has been put through hell, over the last several years! It’s her turn for happiness, a good man, and I hope full custody of her children! I’ve always liked Kathryn, and thought she brought a lot to the show, whether it was good, bad, true, false, it was still interesting to watch, and most of the time, most ended up being true or darn close to it! Nobody can pull off a southern “Diva” quite like Miss K. Calhoun Dennis, her personality is quite funny when she’s with the right people! Kathryn seems pretty down to earth, considering her family, and always seemed to have a good heart, in spite of the situations going on with the show, or whatever drama she may have been wrapped up in! She’s always been one of my favorites on S.C.!

Ashley isn’t the best villain on reality tv, she is the most hated person on reality tv. I think Bravo doesn’t understand the difference, or even comprehend that having Trashley on is the same as having Trape on – she spews his hate and lies. Oh boy does she stick out like a dollar hooker in Charleston. The summer hat from the drugstore at the Charleston Steeplechase last year and now in her knit hat with the crocheted rose at the fox hunt. ROFLOL. She needs to go back to Cali. You almost pity her when you see what she’s wearing, but then you realize she deserves to be laughed at. Women who allow a known womanizer, alcoholic and convicted felon, to gaslight them into hating and attacking another woman, are scum of the earth. Here’s to Naomie, who is the best and shutting down the a-holes on that show. There was other good news – Liz and JD are no longer on the show. Good riddance.

I have no idea why the hell they would recruit a California hooker to be on a show about Charleston and the south. And then try to continue to ram it down the throats of the cast. We already have enough yankee posers on the show.

I just can’t with the manufactured production BS with Ashley, but if you weren’t shining a light on it, I doubt I’d figure it out. Makes my blood boil! They should realise they’ve got a great cast that viewers want to watch – particularly the ladies – and run with it. Not all “reality” shows are that lucky!

All of the info on this series to date does make sense why Kathryn is asking about potential marriage plans between Thomas and Ashley – that they’re still dating, he’s renewed her lease, her relationship with Ryna Trout appears to be for show, etc. Also, is it me or is Shep getting meaner? Anyone look at his Twitter feed? He fancies himself quite a political activist while he bounces around the country enjoying spending lots of money. Where does his money come from? Is it all “mailbox money” from inheritance or does he have a lot of business investments on his own? I never liked how mean he is to Craig. I suspect he’ll become just like Thomas in a few years time.

I always thought some of Shep’s hostility toward Craig was rooted in Naomi’s initial coldness towards Shep. He gets uptight when he can’t charm women and he disliked that Craig, whom he sees as his lesser, had what he himself did not. I also disliked Shep’s initial characterization of public support for KD as coming from scorned women. It was very ugly and condescending, imo. He caught the wave when he realized he was on the wrong side of history and began to watch himself, but I think it’s still his way.
