Once again, it is the Friday before Wendy Williams is supposed to make her triumphant return, and she is not returning. It’s been a month since Wendy attempted to host the show high on pain pills, and a week since the last time she extended her time off and once again she is taking more time off. This time, there is no return date set.
Wendy has been dealing with a cheating husband who has apparently had a mistress for the entire ten years she has had the TV show. Recently, the streets have been saying that her husband, Kevin has had a child with the mistress. We have been watching Wendy unravel for the past few years and she finally reached her breaking point. Today the official site put out two statements.
A Note from The Hunter Family
As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend. Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment. Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital. Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being.
Wendy thanks everyone in advance for their well-wishes and for respecting her and The Hunter Family’s privacy during this time.
What family? Her husband? Her son? Who is making these statements? who is taking care of her? It seems clear to me that the significant time in the hospital will be rehab.
Then the production company put out their own statement.
Statement from Debmar-Mercury
For over ten years, Wendy has been a vital part of the Debmar-Mercury family. We wholeheartedly support Wendy in this decision to take the time she needs and we will welcome her back with open arms the moment she is ready.
The Wendy Williams Show will air repeat episodes the week of January 21st and will produce original episodes with a variety of hosts starting the week of January 28th.
On today’s show the guest hosts said that we would see Wendy on Monday. It seemed to be a prerecorded show because Carson mentioned what he had for lunch that day. So once again it seems like this decision went down to the wire. It seems like the Friday before she is supposed to return comes and Wendy freaks out. She has panic attacks and can’t do it. I don’t think it has anything to do with Graves disease. I think they finally have gotten her to go to rehab. That’s a step in the right direction. They showed a prerecorded interview Wendy did from last month and she bungled every sense and could not read the teleprompter.
Production Remains Shutdown
Now production has shut down for another week while they struggle to pull together more “Hot Talkers” to try to salvage the show and keep her staff employed. I imagine that her staff is jumping ship. I’d like to see her side kick guy sitting at the table. He’s the one that has done all the research.
Just like I said the last time. I don’t think we will be seeing Wendy Williams again. She had a good run. I hope she gets the help she needs and gets away from that monster husband of hers.
When she completes rehab she does have another offer. Maury Povich recently posted on Facebook, “”Wendy… sounds like you need a DNA and Lie Detector Test! Let me help you find the truth!”
Get well soon, Wendy!
Well, I certainly hope Wendy gets the help she needs! She undoubtedly is under alot of pressure and at her breaking point. Get better #WENDYWILLIAMS & drop that habit! You are, and is, deserve better! Praying for you being healthy in all regards.
I occasionally watched the show, and always root for anyone battling addiction to get well. However, I have not followed this story closely. I know Wendy has said she beat addiction many years ago. Is there any knowledge of what substance she was battling?
I think she has said before it was coke which means probably means crack. I pretty sure she didn’t go to rehab and did it on her own according to her. Maybe. This time I feel like she is on pain pills and likely was before the shoulder injury. If she admits to rehab at all she’s gonna say she took pain pills as prescribed and then became addicted quickly.
She definitely admitted in the past to using crack cocaine while she was working in radio..
I’m glad you said REHAB!!! Lets not all be in denial. Hopefully she gets the help she needs and gets rid of that husband!
I agree, this may be the end of the Wendy Williams Show.
I trust her time in hospital/rehab is helpful, and she’ll give Kevin the gift of goodbye/divorce papers.
Wishing WW the best moving forward.
Just substitute Kevin Hunter for Graves’ disease in every statement. That rings more true. Get better Wendy, come back stronger than ever, free from that cheat. Tell your story, you always preach about strong women , then you will get your audience back and more.
Yet another example of society’s addiction phobia. There’s nothing wrong with going to rehab. In fact, every single thing about going to rehab is right. It’s right to get help for your illness. It makes me so sad that it still carries such a stigma.
Could not have said it better!
Don’t know you! But DAMN, Right on! I love u for saying that! It takes strength to do what she and others have done! ALWAYS ASK OR GET HELP!
Yep. I wish she would be honest about it. When people act ashamed they perpetuate the stigma. I wish her well. Why doesn’t she dump her POS husband?
Matbe dropping that habit, her husband, will be addressed in rehab, too. You know they address your habits and your triggers as well. To address one and not the other will not serve her well. GET WELL WENDY, wishing you compete healing!
She needs to dump Kevin Hunter. I can’t comprehend her obsession with him and protection of his character. He’s a POS, everyone knows, move on Wendy!
I love this comment. It’s so true. Just be honest. People applaud those who are willing to put the work in and get better. All this wishy washy bs is such a turn off. It’s 2019 you can say now ‘I’m going to rehab’ and not get fired or lose your viewers.
I agree with you that her show is likely over if she continues to hide the truth. If she would just OWN IT and come back telling the truth, she could turn it around and have a triumphant return. She has to be willing to come completely clean about everything-medication, health, drug abuse (or misuse), and her low-down dirty husband. If she decides to go that route, she has a chance at a new act to her career. If she doesn’t, she will hopefully still divorce that jackass and retire.
Hi TT!!
Really enjoy your blog.
Just wanted to say if this is the end of the Wendy show, it’s a shame.
She is probably the last of the solo hosts and a strong WOC voice on air.
Love her or hate her, she was always very entertaining.
Get better Wendy!!
She will.not be back. There is no way she can spin this.
I didn’t see today’s show, but I saw the show with Don Lemon and others and really enjoyed it. Is that a terrible thing to say? Wendy used to tape Friday’s shows on Thursdays, so maybe that’s why they said she was coming back on Monday.
I hope Wendy truly gets the help she needs. If that means her show is over, she had a good 10-year run.
They have already replaced her show with 2 half shows in our area. I think you may be right, the show is ending. It’s sad but I really hope she can get better soon.
Everyone loves a comeback story!!
I hope that she gets the help that she needs.
I also hope that she loses about 200 pounds….of lousy husband!
I wish her well and hope her parents are with her. Wendy needs to take one thing st s time. First get well and then untangle herself from this marriage and business relationship with dear Mr. Hunter.
Presuming her time in rehab is successful, I think she will make a comeback. Still, as others have said, she’ll need to be very frank about the problems she faced, and the audience and her fan base will lap it up. However, the trouble with that is the fact that she seems to have kept quiet about the problems with her husband and his other woman, to the point where she has denied that anything is wrong. That would be very difficult to talk about, so it would have to be done simply by her mentioning personal relationship problems. I don’t know how she managed to live with that kind of betrayal and stress for so long, or why she would want to, although I did read that their financial business was very inter-tangled. You can only live in denial for so long before it starts to eat you from the inside out, and I believe that’s what happened to Wendy. I wish her a successful recovery, and could see, along with anyone else who had their eyes and ears open, that something was very wrong with her. Get well soon, Wendy, and dump every one and everything that’s making you sick and miserable.
I was going to say exactly the same thing.
I wish Wendy a blessed recovery a day at a time.
Yeah , I hope she gets an extended stay at the rehab and purged all that anger and negative mouth lashing she delivers during hot topics. I religiously watched Wendy shows every morning until she became very negative. & started talking down on some of her guests.
Not surprised at all. They wait until the end of the week and release these statements. Presuming she’s been in rehab this whole time and they always knew she wasn’t coming back any time soon, if at all. To me, either she is never coming back, or they are going to extend her return enough so that they hope people are not demanding her to talk about all the tea that everyone believes is really going on that she continues to deny when she does return. It’s obvious from them allegedly telling staff to keep quiet and all the other things they did over the past week or two that they are going to keep locked up and buttoned down. This statement further confirms it. I guess the problem is that if she does come clean, she would have to lie and say she didn’t know anything about him all this time. There have been sexual-harassment suits against him, there has been a ton of talk about him. Remember a few years ago when Evelyn Lozada clapped back at her and told her how he came into her store to buy another woman shoes? So I guess there really is no way for her to come clean because she would have to admit she was lying for so long. I always enjoyed the show for a long time until more recently with her seeming scattered and unable to finish a thought. Let’s see if she ever comes back. I think the answer is going to be if they put Jerry O’Connell and Mario Cantone in, that would seem to indicate that they were trying to see if this show could go on without her in the future. But if they put those dry as toast folks they had last week that were as boring as watching paint dry, maybe she really is coming back and doesn’t want any competition .
And these days, how can they keep the side chick under wraps? Someone somewhere is going to find her. She’s either pregnant now or no longer is. Someone will find her. She’s got family in the south, etc. She will be in pictures at some point.
“They wait until the end of the week and release these statements. ”
Wrong. Both times they have had to go dark for a week and scramble to invent new shows. If they knew about it previously there would not be yet another dark week next week causing financial harm to all of the people who are still hanging in there to produce the show.
If she does rehab, and takes on the 12 steps and 12 traditions, she will emerge clear-eyed, clear-headed, and *honest* about it all. We are as sick as our secrets, as we say in the rooms. In order for her to maintain sobriety she will have to be frank and open about the situations that got her to this point, and part of that is her insistence on denial and secrecy. If she gets clean and sober, she will welcome this process. I do believe if she takes ownership of her role in the mess she finds herself in, it will prove very therapeutic. There is no other way.
If she comes out and lies or obfuscates the truth, that will prove detrimental to her recovery. Her audience already knows on some level what’s really going on. They will welcome her back to the stage and join in cheering on her newfound clarity and recovery.
Unless you have been in an abusive relationship with a well known egomaniac, evil man-you would not understand. They intimidate you, alienate you, take away your soul and you still protect them. It’s sick and you need so much therapy when you finally get the strength & courage to leave. It’s not until then that you can tell your story-when you know you are finally safe. I can only speak on what I have experienced and I pray to God thats not what is going on as it hell on earth. The fractured arm is alarming. Self medicating happens sometimes as it’s the only way to deal.
I wish that every word of this weren’t true, but it is. And well said. Her experience can help a lot of people — when she is ready to talk about it.
I hope that she gets better but I ain’t gonna lie; karma is a biotch! She has ruined plenty of career and hounded Lindsey Lohan, Kenya and many others. People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Check out YouTube for the Judge Mathias vs Wendy radio “interview”. She thought that she was going to throw stones but Mathias lit her azz up with the TRUTH. Get well but Buh Bye Felicia. Wendy thought she was a god trashy folks and pretending to be judge AND jury. Kelvin is a bum who bought his side piece a large home within 5 miles from Wendy. Perhaps W was ok with the arrangement as Wendy is bisexual anyway. Who cares? Yawn.
If she stays in rehab (aka the hospital — right, hospitals try to get your ass out the door ASAP) and completes her detox/therapy, she could turn this whole situation around. Perhaps she will return with a newfound sense of compassion for others. America loves a Cinderella/comeback story. She could have Oprah or Dr. Phil or someone else on her first show back to conduct an interview, instead of just talking about herself from a script, and offer insight into problems that many face — without the financial and familial support system. I hope she comes back stronger than ever. Living well IS INDEED the best revenge, Mr. Hunter.
Ohhhh I like that idea!
Agree with interview by either vs her talking! ?
Yepp, bye Mr Hunter – time to kick rocks! Get on down the road with your little Miss & kid(s) and leave WW be. Go produce another show, hit on the women there and quit being bully.. Wendy, your son is grown, he will always be his Father but you don’t need to deal with him noo more! Live well Wendy, I’m looking for your comeback when you’re ready. ❤
Wendy Williams there is no one else like you! I miss you!! I wish you well…I hope you make a fabulous comeback. I don’t care what the reason is for your absence, life happens, please get well! Im rooting for you girl! I love you Wendy Williams, I will be here waiting for you! You got this. Whatever it is…
#foreverfanforlife
Cheers to you my friend
Amen Rhonda! I love Wendy so much and HOPE she comes back! I’m a stay at home mom and seriously is one of my high points of my day! I just want her to get better and come back with lots of laughs!
The shoe is on the other foot, she’s been chopping others for years with no regards to the meanness she’s spewed out on them and having to put in her two cents and speculations out there. The rooster has come home to to do roost! That negative energy has come back like a boomerang and clocked her ïn her damn head! Get your best life Wendy and leave juju in that rehab facility!!
The Maury Povich shade!!! I hope Wendy gets herself right and comes back better than ever. I love her show. The stories of Kevin being problematic have been out there for a long time. I hope she drops his ass and tells us all about it.
I was shocked by that too…It’s in poor taste. But..look at his show..
The Wendy Williams HUNTER line is reminiscent of Julie Chen MOONVES’ from Big Brother.
She’s not divorcing him.
OH Stenbeck, I hope not, hope she’s smarter than that. I don’t think she’s even imagined her true potential. I am rooting for her, too!
I’m worried she is in an abusive relationship. I want her to get well, kick him to the curb, share her story and help others!!
That’s the first thing I thought too.
Perfect timing for 20/20 to run the story on Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. For years I had no cable, then work and school left no TV time. So I did not remember that Somewhere in there after the big fall, after her divorce from Jim, Tammy Faye became a talk-show co-host. She was loved by many people, not just Bible-thumpers. The people interviewed were REAL journalists, such as Ted Koppel, and it was journalistic story, not Bravoesque, so I believe that Tammy Faye was forgiven and embraced and successful. If Wendy can get it together, she still can make herself and investors a lotta moola. (IMHO)
I think she’ll be back.
