Teen Mom OG Reunion Episodes

January 1, 2019 by tamaratattles 23 Comments

I suppose it is time to take a break from the Project Runway marathon and do some work. Don’t spoil on it though, I am taping the last three episodes and I do not remember who won!

Let’s get to these two episodes of the Teen Mom Reunion and close this season out. It looks like a really dramatic reunion!

Maci cries right away over social media coming for them all as mothers. Not so much Maci but everyone else. Bristol tears up too about the social media stuff. Amber looks like she has gained a lot of weight. Then Kaitlyn and Amber start bawling over Amber’s depression and suicidal thoughts.

Everyone goes backstage except for Amber, it’s time for her one on one. Amber is super angry at all the trolls on social media for bullying her all the time. Amber talks about planning her suicide. It’s very depressing. She’s pissed that Kaitlyn got a month off to deal with her mental illness and she only got a week. I really do think that the camera should have backed off her while she was suicidal. She is crying and says that no one would miss her if she left.

The first episode was pretty anticlimactic except for Amber’s multiple breakdowns. Cheyenne didn’t know that Corey was the baby’s father until the child was six months old. Her boyfriend at the time thought it was his and didn’t want anything to do with the baby. Cheyenne fell into a deep depression and Corey basically saved her life. Catelynn certainly has an unusual perspective of herself. She says she is a caretaker and supportive. Perhaps she is getting a bad edit? Because we see Tyler literally doing everything for everybody. Tyler comes out and says that the separation was necessary for him to nurture himself. They still have a romantic passion for each other. Tyler says this is a bad time to be having a baby, but it’s happening.

On Part two, Andrew talks about dealing with Amber’s depression. Andrew loves being a dad. He gets emotional talking about it. Andrew seems like a really decent guy. Gary and Christina come out and everyone says that things are going well. Gary does seem a bit hesitant about how things are going. Christina and Gary seem to know a lot more about Leah than Amber. We have to hear more about Christina’s miscarriage and Amber’s. I don’t know why we need all of this detail.

Gary updates us on his biological father. He’s there for the reunion! Gary now has five half siblings. They have only known about each other for six weeks so it seems the Dad has bonded more with Gary than Gary bonded with his dad.

Dr. Drew does a one on one with Dakota. On social media Dakota complains about the editing a lot. Dakota says he turned into everything he was trying to protect Bristol from. He is not getting treatment or counseling for his PTSD. He recently was hospitalized for his extreme anxiety. He says he doesn’t really feel emotions and is generally just numb to everything. He is tearing up a bit so I am not sure how true that is. He just seems profoundly depressed. Both Dakota and Bristol are shutdown. Both have abandonment issues. Bristol is shocked to hear that Dakota still loves him. She has some regrets on how she dealt with things. Dakota says he doesn’t want to be seen as a depressed vet. He’s going to live his life.

Next up is Maci, Taylor, Larry and Jen. Maci is wearing some horrific black lipstick. It is so distracting and disturbing. Maci and Jen have hashed it out. They seem to be in a better place. Jen says Ryan and Maci need to work some things out moving forward. Ryan needs to establish trust with everyone.

Corey and Cheyenne hit the couch together. It’s clear she is in love with him. They hooked up the night before the reunion in the hotel. Corey is not ready to get married. Corey also starts to cry talking about Ryder. Literally all the dads on this show have cried. Dr. Drew says that at some point, Cheyenne is going to move on. Dr. Drew wants to know how long she will wait for Corey. That makes Cheyenne cry. Cheyenne admits she is in love with Corey. Corey says he is not in love with Cheyenne. Drew suggests that Cheyenne move on with someone else. The old adage, “Why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free?” comes to mind here.

Butch is at the reunion for the first time. Butch looks good. He has been sober for over a year. Butch starts crying because he forgot about Tyler’s suicide. Tyler’s sister is also there. She’s also sober and looks much better. She seems to be on the right track.

These were two pretty depressing episodes. At the end they bring out all the kids. Bristol’s kids did not come.  The little ones are adorable. Bentley has a girlfriend!

Did y’all watch this? I kind of wish I would have skipped it.

TT- Thanks for the recap. Couldn’t one person in hair and make up or on the production crew or her friends tell Maci that her black lipstick looked ridiculously horrible. I watched the Project Runway marathon today also. So said that Michael Is no longer with us. He was my favorite and such an amazing talent. Will you be recapping Project Runway All Stars that premieres tomorrow night? I hope so. Your recapping is magic!!!

I didn’t realize that Michael had died! When I read this I mistakenly thought you meant Jeffery it seems like Jeffery is still doing well.

CJ Bomb is the Fashionita around here. She will be doing the Project Runway recaps this year unless she has had something come up. There will be the finale All Stars on Lifetime and then later in the year regular RR returns to Bravo!

I like Dakota’s honesty about his depression. People who are struggling can never hear enough that others can relate to them, myself included.

Amber just bothers me. She is just like the Amber we remember from the beginning seasons of TM. Shes yelling at everyone , selfish as hell, marginally takes care of her baby and never gets off the couch. Still. Its NOT bad editing about that no matter how she spins it.

    Agree about Maci’s lipstick! ?

As someone who also suffers from anxiety and depression, I think it is unfair to fault Amber as much as we sometimes do. She is biting the bullet and toughing it out at home with her man and baby. She’s not perfect but she is trying.

Catelynn on the other hand has no compunction about just dumping everything on Tyler and going to the other side of the country for treatment repeatedly because she feels better when she is there and doesn’t have to be an adult.

I can afford treatment, but I have a dog that is not boardable and a job that requires me to update this site EVERY DAMN DAY. People have responsibilities and can’t always leave them to go to the spa, I mean treatment center.

I think Amber legitimately has post partum and probably did after Leah as well. I feel bad for her. People should not be sending her mean messages on social media!

I think people are so harsh on Amber because we see the harm its doing to Leah. Plus Ambers depression seems to disappear when she is laid up with a man. Her depression only seems to an issue when she has to be responsible and deal with her kid. Its hard I’m sure but parenting is a hard job all together. Gary and Christina just make it look easy but I’m sure its takes a toll on them too. Amber falls behind in her visitation and child support.

Pretty boring. I felt bad for Cheyenne when the hosts basically badgered her into admitting she loves Corey and then he just straight up said no he didnt love her. He’s a good dad though. All the dads are good on this franchise…well except for Ryan.

Bristol was the OG teen mom. She had the whole nation talking about her being a teen mom. I do feel that she is on the show for the money and she comes across phony.

I like Amber and her struggle is real BUT I also feel as though she uses her depression as an excuse at times. Like when any and everything is not going her way and pple on SM drag her because of her lack of mothering Leah……..she falls back on her depression diagnosis and it kinda comes off as an excuse to me. This is just my honest opinion and I could be totally off base with it. She has grown a lot and has made amends for a lot of her past and I appreciate that. I just feel that she uses it as a crutch when need be. Still I wish her continued healing and the best for 2019!!!! 🙂

I have some serious depression and I constantly ask myself if I am just giving up and not trying hard enough It would be awful if my social media was full of people telling me I should walk my dog more and clean my house and take a shower. It would just make it all so much worse.

I always want Dr Drew to go in harder on some of these girls. I really enjoyed his conversation with Dakota and Butch/Amber. The man knows what he is talking about out and they needed to hear him. Dakota seems like a decent guy but he needs to find some help.

Overall this was a pretty boring season.

Just think!!!!! Teen Mom 2 in a couple weeks. Yay, lol.
They need to end the OG’s. I was thinking that they have aged out and a lot seems very young situations when they now have homes, numerous children, ex-husbands. Deciding if your in love, but won’t answer when asked, seems a bit immature.
It’s just time to let them live their lives and raise the kids.

I think this show is living on borrowed time. I continue to watch it as background noise when I’m adding a bunch of items to my virtual shopping cart before abandoning it all 3 hours later. I have really enjoyed watching young and pregnant lately though. I hope MTV keeps them around.

I think Amber’s depression is real and it seems like she’s doing to best she knows how to do. I think it would be helpful for her to have someone in her life who is more assertive than Andrew (?) to hold her more accountable. I like Andrew but he doesn’t seem like a partner who will push her to be a better person.

I really hope Caitlyn and Tyler work out but it seems like they keep each other sick. I’ve loved them from the start because they always had so much to deal with and seemed to keep positive through it all.

Maci seems to have “graduated” from Teen Mom and doesn’t have a lot to add. I like her though! Same with Chelsea for Teen Mom 2.

The new moms – meh. I’m only watching teen mom at this point because I’m invested in back stories. I don’t have any interest in learning new storylines here.

I would be interested if they added some work storylines into the show. I’ve said this before but I want to see Chelsea become an esthetician or Leah finish college.

I do get that at times I think I would “do better” if there was someone to “hold me accountable” I am not sure how that works in the real world. I’m not refusing to shower, change clothes and get out into the world, because of laziness or not being accountable. I just don’t give a fuck. I give even less ducks every day. It’s not a choice. I have never had a partner so perhaps I would shower more if I did. But it is not something you can explain to someone with chronic depression. I CONTINUED TO TELL THE DOCTORS I HAVE A GOOD LIFE. I HAVE NOTHING TO BE DEPRESSED ABOUT! I AM DOING WELL. I MAKE GOOD MONEY. I HAVE A HIGHLY SUCESSFUL WEBSITE. But suddenly, I can’t go to the grocery store without having a panic attack. When good things happen, I do not care. When bad things happen I do not care. I have no feelings except for sad ones. It does not make sense.I used to makeover a room in my house on the weekends while watching football. Now I sit around in men’s pajamas and cry and sometimes ask for prayers on Twitter. There was nothing to cause this. IT JUST HAPPENED TO ME. \\

I guess it could be different if I had someone who encouraged me to shower or move or clean. But I get Amber.

I 100% hear you. I’m in the same boat. I feel blessed that my husband holds me accountable. Not in a “get up and get dressed or else” kind of way but more of “hey we’re partners, I need your help. What can we do to help get you there?” But I also can’t imagine all of the social media abuse that she gets. I think overall this show is probably doing more to harm Catelynn and Amber than to help them.

This is what we love about you, Tamara, your willingness to be painfully honest about what’s going on in your life. Depression is a horrible, horrible thing to deal with. No matter how much you know you should get up and make yourself do something, that heavy lead weight on your chest keeps holding you down. You know you need to act and do something different, but you’re powerless to do it. Thank you so much for sharing, and I hope you know how many of us relate to what you’re going through.

I don’t mean to sound hateful, but was anyone else shocked that the “childhood trauma” Catelynn keeps referencing as part of the reason she can’t adult is that her father left? I know that can have an impact and that her mom probably didn’t help, as she is an addict/alcoholic, but the way she kept throwing out that everything triggered her bc of her childhood trauma, I thought it would be something else.

I think if the show ended Catelynn and Tyler would be the most lost, they don’t strike me as realizing that the mtv money is not forever.

I have never been an Amber fan, she just rubs me the wrong way with her never owning her behavior, but it is obvious she needs a lifeline and being prodded by producers is not it. Thank goodness Matt is no longer in picture bc he would have jumped all over her vulnerable state.

I did not watch and I’m glad I didn’t. Just one thought from me. Corey, if you don’t care about Cheyenne, stop sleeping with her because you know how she feels about you.

Carson’s mom, April, didn’t just not help, she was an addict, married another addict (Butch, who happened to be Tyler’s dad), then they had a child who was often left for Cate and Tyler to care for. When Cate and Tyler made a mature and very painful decision to give Carly up for adoption, April gave them a hellishly hard time, lashing out at them.

Then for years the younger couple had to be the adults.

April finally got clean and divorced Butch, but Butch has been a drain on them until recently.

Catelynn finally was safe to regress and that, along with having Nova and post partum, then a miscarriage and now another pregnancy, seems to me and endless search for normalcy, that just is not there..

Tyler, whose father and sister only recently seem ok (and who knows if that will last), is relaxing enough to be angry and passive aggressive, so Catelynn and Tyler aren’t in a great place to be the rock for each other.

Dr Drew tried to tell Tyler he needed more help.

Anyway, Cate have trauma far beyond her father leaving.

I think Macy is doing well . That liostick! I hope someone at least paid her to wear it! Not a good look.
