Real Housewives of Atlanta: A Mother’s Love

December 30, 2018 by tamaratattles 41 Comments

Last week, I could not be bothered to recap the episode and it seems I was not alone in my disinterest. The ratings dropped to a new low with only 1,65 million viewers. The show has only had over two million viewers for one episode. I feel like this show needs to be taken out behind the barn and put out of its misery; however, Bravo suits continue to call this season a success. They seem to be looking on the bright side. This episode is going to be filled with tears and I’m really not up for that. The weather in Atlanta has been brutal this winter. It’s been cold and rainy more days than not and is expected to rain for the foreseeable future. All I want to do is sleep and feel sorry for myself and drink. These are not really the best choices. Let’s see what these ladies get up to tonight.

Porsha has gas. Do we really need to know this? I will answer that. No. No.we.do.not.

Cynthia is throwing a going away party for Noelle who is going off to Howard University. She’s having cold feet and Cynthia isn’t really ready for the empty nest. These two are very codependant. Cynthia’s mom says she was depressed for an entire year after she left. Noelle has a full on breakdown saying that she can’t do, she can’t go. Poor thing. Noelle wants everyone to leave the party. So Cynthia throws her family out with some doggie bags.

Kandi and Ace go to see Mama Joyce. Mama Joyce is living in style in the nice big house Kandi bought her. She’s also been on back to back vacations so Kandi is stopping by to check in with her mama.  She’s a bit pissed that her mother did not come to see her get her lifetime achievement award. Todd is upset with Mama Joyce for calling him a lemon on TV. Kandi is trying to get their relationship mended.

Shamari and her mother spend time with the twins and talk trash about Marlo. Marlo called Shamari’s mama a bitch last week. We learn that Shamari’s mom is a physician’s assistant. She missed a lot of time with Sharmari going to school and working.

Eva is going wedding dress shopping again. This time without her negative mother. This time Nene is coming and bring negative Marlo. Sigh. Eva wants a simple vintage look and Nene is trying to force her to bling it out. Why does everyone want to pick the wedding dress for the bride. It’asall about what she wants! Marlo tells her she needs to lose ten pounds. What is wrong with people?

Dennis and Porsha go to get their first sonogram. Am I the only one thinking this should have been Kenya? This is just not that exciting. Dennis learns what a condom is on this visit. Porsha is going to need a C-section due to her fibroid issues. Everything went well and they both seem very excited to be parents.

Cynthia takes Noelle to Howard to set up dorm room. Her roommate backed out so she has the room to herself and Cynthia is there to make it beautiful. Leon is also there. The three of them go out to dinner. After dinner, they call an Uber for Noelle and after a few tears she’s on her own. The flashbacks of Noelle growing up are touching.

All of Gregg’s kids coming over to the house to talk about Gregg’s diagnosis. Gregg’s two oldest sons are in their 40s and they are getting urges to get a colonoscopy. Gregg seems to be announcing that God has cured him. This is not true at all. He still has cancer and is refusing chemo.

Kandi and Mama Joyce go to the newest OLG restaurant where Todd is working. Kandi is hoping that these too will reconcile. Mama Joyce is not good at apologizing. However, they do end on a positive note.

Next week is Todd’s birthday party. Porsha goes HAM at the party and gets kicked out. Mike Hill comes to Lake Bailey for some TV time. Things between Kandi and Porsha blow up again.

What did y’all think of this episode? I liked seeing more Cynthia and Kandi than Porsha for a change.

Let me just that at 51 years old and close to 60? Nene Leakes is one of the most fakest and most miserable people I have ever seen. The whole show is based on women kissing her ass and if they don’t agree with her or are more popular than her, she wants them off the show.

At the moment Marlo, Cynthia, Tanya and Eva are kissing her ass but we know how her ass rolls with friendships and girlfriends, so it won’t last. The attention and fame has to be geared towards her at all times so Porsha, Kandi, Kenya, Sheree and eventually Tanya and Eva will always be in the line of fire. She hates on anyone the viewers love and get more shine than her.

Nene needs to accept that it’s some real boss women out here and she’s not the only one with money and businesses.

Tonight’s episode was good and I really enjoyed it. Tanya and Shamari definitely need to be back next season.

So proud of Noelle but this is definitely Cynthia’s peak season.

Kandi is a true boss but she’s very boring and the Todd and Joyce storyline is old and tired.

The only thing I disagree with is your statement that 51 is close to 60. Take that back right now! LOL, I’m 51 and I refuse to be lumped in with the 60’s group. Not yet…LOL
Other than that, loved your comment.????????

With a child going to College in the Fall, this episode really resonates with me. I have the same type of relationship with my Daighter and I know it will be tough.

Also…I know this is immature and has probably been stated a million times, but Leon is FINE. Cynthia is a strong woman not to throw herself at him. Just for fun.

Kandi and Cynthia are my favorite. I like Shamari because I was such a fan of New Edition and Bell Biv Devoe. Now you know.

I’m here for the recaps, I can’t stand watching this franchise anymore. It’s gotten very stale and Porsha and Nene are just too much to listen to.

I was so excited to go to Clemson, two states away BUT I started to cry when my parents left. my roommate had grown up overseas but had family in Greenville and left?.

That was a lonely night, recovered and that roommate is still my BFF for over 30 years.

College is many things, I really am glad she “ went away” to school. My only regret is not traveling more. I am good at going off the beaten path, I can land almost anywhere and find something interesting.

One of the things, I did right was teach my children to explore. Another convention in Orlando??… Let’s go to Little Vietnam. My kids were not thrilled but they could roll their own summer rolls, make Pho and use basic Vietnamese… which made them very cool in college. Ethnic grocery stores they seek them out.

Guess my point is seek out the unique and never fear to seek out new experiences. Even Orlando can be interesting…

I haven’t watched in weeks but there was nothing else on tonight. I really loved everything with Cynthia and Noelle. Leon seems to be a great dad. I totally remeber going to college and it was very similar to Noelle’s emotional journey. It is hard and scary to step out on your own for the first time. The flashback scenes made me teary.

On the flip side, the scenes with Gregg made me so frustrated. If my husband had cancer I would strongly voice my opinion in terms of treatment. If I had cancer I would do whatever I could to get well. I guess that’s just me though.

Her roommate “just backed out?” Please, they paid big for that setup believe me.

At least Yolanda admitted to buying Gigi’s freshman semester apartment. Guess the dorms were just too slummy for her precious moneymaker. Oh, and the other one.

It’s very telling that the posts about Kenya have way more comments than the recaps. And lots of the comments.this season have been saying that the recap is better than the show or that people are not watching the show, only reading the recaps. I tried watching and zzzzzzzz … when I “rewound,” I saw that even the yelling didn’t wake me up. Then it was zzzzzz again. I need to find the pussywhipped section. Then zzzzz again.

I laughed out loud when Porsha spoke of her fart time. She’s just an alround fun girls.
Tod should have just let that lemon alone. It was said in jest, Mama Joyce wasn’t being malicious. That smack of shade should roll off his shoulders. He wasn’t a lemon before kandi. A young attractive coolio dude making 6 figures is by definition a “catch”. C’mon man… you need a full on verbal apology from her? That money’s making you more lemon-esq.

Porscha’s entire storyline appears to be grafted into this season due to a severe lack of Mrs Kenya Moore Daly. I cannot imagine why the Bravo suits think we need another pregnancy journey when we have waited to see Kenya attain all the goals of marriage pregnancy & family. Porsha is just a facsimile of what we all really wanted to see. I hope this show tanks.

If this franchise needs to be put out of its misery; then all the other housewife franchises need to follow. The ratings for all the housewife franchises are low, so if we are canceling this one; we certainly need to cancel the others because there is nothing interesting happening on those shows either. Bravo needs to cancel them all.

The scene with Nene, Gregg, and family did a good public service by having the sons talk about needing to get a colonoscopy. It’s really important to get one, especially if there’s a history of colon cancer in the family. The procedure itself is an absolute breeze, completely painless. The “preparation” for the procedure, especially the lovely cocktail you have to drink the night before, is far worse than the procedure itself. But the prep is really just gross with no pain involved.

Cynthia is such a beautiful woman. Her relationship with Noelle and Leon should be divorced parent’s goals. Cut out the picture and put it on the vision board. I don’t think that her story is boring at all. I always enjoy watching the family dynamic especially without Peter. You know who is hard to watch? Porsha. I just cannot enjoy watching a grown woman who displays the mentality of a 12 year old. Thank goodness for the fast forward function on the DVR.

RHOA isn’t the lowest rated franchise so I wouldn’t make sense to cancel it. Enjoyed the episode with Cynthia Leon and Noelle. Also happy for Porsha. Nene’s segment was important as they discussed getting testing and going to the doctor. It’s actually refreshing to watch the show and not have crazy fights and drama with violence as the past years have been.

I don’t see anything that would save RHOA, RHONJ, and both OC, and Potomac. Dallas and New york I like, and I think the trick is that they are legit wealthy and have a social standing. (I don’t know if social standing is accurate, but I’m going to use that)
I find that to be what changes the entertainment value.

Caught up on the season last couple days-am I the only one enjoying it? Maybe because Dirty John scares me-it reminds me of my first (brief)marriage to a psychopath. When I look back on it, I’m pretty sure he had multiple personalities. Got out of that barely alive-I went to the local police for protection when I knew I was leaving with the baby and they refused. After he had slit my tires and knifed me they showed up. If it hadn’t been 30 years ago I would have known to sue the PD in that city. But I digress. I guess RHOA is not as much as a trigger for me!! Can’t wait for RHOBH and RHONY!!

Somehow I knew that someone would comment on Dirty John because how can we not? And haven’t we all been taken advantage of by a love crook at some level or another?

I am happy to learn of any woman who gets out of a dangerous situation. God bless Debra Newell & her family & John’s sister & … researcher/writer Chris Goffard for telling the story. Truly, lives can be saved by the telling of this tale. Maybe not literally but surely less life money will be spent by a crook.

Ladies, remember Crooks? Vicki now wants to sue him? Ha! Good luck with that!

    Thanks for the recap!

I sort of liked this episode and this season.

Todd and Kandi tell Moma Joyce that they want to take the embryos out of the freezer and maybe use a surrogate. THAT was nice. Frankly, I find it disturbing hearing about babies being abandoned in a deep freeze. I am glad that the two embryos will be given a shot at being born.

Can someone please tell Bravo that we are tired of doctor office visits where women’s privates are concerned? I am not that excited about the baby news either. What happened to getting married first? In the old days women got pregnant by accident if they were not married to the guy. Now people get PG on purpose first? I don’t get it. Would her grandfather be amused? Of course I wish Porchea & Dennis well. It is none of my business what order things happen but it is a boring story line: Girl gets knocked up by the hot dog man. How cliche is that? I hope they are a good match for the sake of their baby. Make it work, girl! ?

TT, I want to move to a sunny place like Georgia to get away from the rain and low light gloom of the Pacific Northwest. It is rainy there too? It is not what I imagined. Reading that you are suffering from SAD makes me sad! I wish I was there to go with you & the pup for a walk. All I want to do is sleep and eat. At 8:00 am it is still dark outside. At least in Atlanta you can go to an Old Lady Gang restaurant. Yummy. Lucky you!

Concerning RHOA, I hope the show continues another season or two. Why not bring back Phaedra? What about bringing Sheree back so she can talk about pre-orders for her clothing line? Do they wait until they get enough orders to produce a batch similar to a batch of cookies? She finally starts to open up and Bravo gives her the boot. Not nice. And what about her prison beau? With Kim gone she might be more herself.

Kenya thought she was the star, Bravo put her in her place. Maybe next season they can bring her back at a discount. Nene is more significant to the show and ratings than Kenya, isn’t she? Personally I don’t miss Kenya’s dog peeing on everything.

I love Porsha this season. She is so happy and it is contagious. I also love Shamari–she is a breath of fresh air. I thought the scene with NeNe being obnoxiously rude to Tanya was the true NeNe. She’s awful. A couple of episodes ago Tanya was “her girl” and on this episode, NeNe’s HUGE ego got hurt by a passing comment and NeNe went full on vicious on her. It was embarrassing to watch. Can’t imagine what it was like to actually be there. Do people really behave in this manner in public? The stress of “taking care of Gregg” is getting to NeNe. She’s totally irrational!

I have a story about NeNe from when RHOA just began. It was the first season, I believe, and my daughter’s friend saw her at Nordstrom’s Rack down by the Mall of GA and she was so excited. She went up to NeNe and asked if she could get a photograph with her and NeNe refused! She told the girl she didn’t want to be bothered during her shopping time! Gregg was there, too, waiting in the wings to serve his queen. This is the true NeNe. She thinks she’s too good for everyone and she won’t take a photograph with a young teen girl who, up until that point, was a fan.

I still enjoy watching Atlanta. I’ve watched since the beginning. Don’t like Marlo, Nene has always been a pain in the ass, not sure what Eve storyline is ?? besides throwing shade at Cynthia constantly. But overall most of the woman I still like.
Loved seeing Leon with Cynthia taking Noelle to Howard. Best parents ever!!
Hopefully Kandi and Todd will have more babies. Shamai (should look up how to spell her name) twins are adorable and she is a spitfire. At least she has a backbone to stand up to Marlo jabs.
