UPDATE 2: Bethenny is now saying on Twitter that Paul (she didn’t say his name) saved her life. So apparently they are fine.
Updated: It appears to me that Bethenny was spending the weekend with her boyfriend, Paul Bernon, who is the co-founder and partner of Burn Later, an L.A.-based film finance and production company, who lives in the Boston area. The event may have happened in his home, or at a restaurant. Oddly on Instagram yesterday she posted, “This is the kind of day where I wish vodka came out of my shower. Can we just make it rain vodka and men?” It almost seems like she didn’t feel like he handled the situation well. She thanked the first responders and the hospital but didn’t mention her companion at all.
Remember when the RHONY all went to Cartagena and Ramona nearly killed Bethenny by giving her fish soup? It was literally one of the worst things a housewife has ever done to another. Ramona knew about Bethenny’s allergy and was told by the chef that it was a fish soup and lied to Bethenny when she asked if there was fish in it. Then she became very ill and someone had to go search for Benadryl in Colombia.
Bethenny has a rare allergy to finned fish. Most people with seafood allergies are allergic to shellfish like lobster and shrimp, but Bethenny is allergic to fishes with fins. She is also allergic to fish gelatin which is found in broths made from fish bones.
Last weekend Bethenny was apparently out to dinner and inadvertently ate something with fish in it. She almost immediately went into anaphylactic shock. She lost consciousness and was transmitted to the ER to get an Epi pen shot. She was kept in ICU over night due to her extremely low blood pressure. She thought she was dying and she could not speak. It seems incredibly scary.
In true Bethenny Frankel fashion, she’s made some changes to her life. She will be wearing a medical bracelet identifying her allergy and she will always carry an EpiPen.
But even more so, she is trying to help out the small hospital she was taken to get new mattresses for the patient beds.
And if that were not enough, she is now wanting to donate Epipens to school nurses for emergencies. The makers of Epipens have raise the cost of a two pack of Epipens is about $600 they used to cost $100 but the company was taken over by some assholes a few years ago and jack up the price. It sucks that the US government doesn’t do anything regulate these type of assholes or do anything to keep Big Pharm from robbing the sick.
I am so glad that Bethenny is doing better and already getting on with her philanthropy.
