Another season has quickly come to a close, but before we head into the finale, let’s go over the remaining castaways and discuss what each of them are bringing to the table! It’s always fun looking back at our earlier opinions and comparing them to how each Survivor actually turned out. Check out my initial impressions as well as my post-merge predictions before reading!
Davie: This player has been an absolute joy to watch this season! He is smart, nerdy and downright fun-loving. This is encapsulated by the merge scene where he dances in front of the Goliaths to serve as a distraction while his David allies find the hidden immunity idol. Nothing seems off to the Goliaths, because that’s genuinely who Davie is: a goofy kid, and he uses this to his advantage. The fact that he has been able to have so much fun while playing such a serious game is a testament to his popularity going into the finale.
Davie’s Chances: Unfortunately, when I think about his chances, they don’t look too good. He recently put his trust into Kara like so many before him, and it ended in a 3-2-2 vote with him being blindsided. This leaves him not only as an outsider, but someone who is a physical, strategic and jury threat to those remaining in the game. His last move burnt bridges with both Nick and Angelina, and we know Kara will go with whoever she thinks is majority at this point, so I don’t see him lasting much longer. The key will be if he can get his relationship back on track with Nick. ORIGINAL DAVID
Alison: The Laurel of David vs Goliath. Both players tormented themselves on whether to “make a move” or not. Both are obviously physical threats. Both are super intelligent in the real world. The only difference is that Alison has actually attempted to make moves. She just hasn’t been very successful at them. She seems to always get roped into plans and used as a vote, but I don’t think Alison has engineered much of anything post-merge.
Alison’s Chances: Despite Alison not having much of a resume, she is deemed as a threat to those remaining in the game. She is physically threatening in the challenges and probably deemed [incorrectly imo] as a jury threat due to her friendships on the jury. Suffice to say, I think perception will trump reality, and she’ll be dispatched right before the finale. ORIGINAL GOLIATH
Angelina: Oh where to start with this one. Let me get my bias out of the way: I LOVE ANGELINA! I think she has brought a lot of great things to the show this season! She brought us a secret showmance. She brought us #JacketGate. She brought us jury management. She brought us negotiations. And most recently, she brought us revenge rice. Think what you want about her, but she has definitely been one of the main reasons why I have enjoyed this season of Survivor, and I hope you can at least recognize the value she brought to this season. ORIGINAL GOLIATH
Angelina’s Chances: There is 0 chance of Angelina winning, and for good reason. Go back and watch the way her tribe treated her after the merge tribal council, and you’ll understand why. We all love a good villain, especially if they make it to the end and get blasted by the jury which is exactly what I think will happen.
Mike: I’ve had an up and down relationship with Mike this season, but as it stands right now, it’s mostly up. Similarly to Alison, I thought he was never going to make a move. Well, if you are to blame anyone for how the end game of this season is shaping it, it should be Mike. He was the mastermind behind Gabby leaving and recently Christian leaving. His gameplay may be understated, but he has always been placed in power positions throughout it all. He also is pretty hilarious in the confessionals!
Mike’s Chances: He’s currently in the power position and arguably the one making all the most important decisions in the game. I very well could see him making the final 3 and having a chance at winning, but it needs to be against Angelina and Alison as I don’t think he can beat Kara’s popularity or Davie/Nick’s more flashy gameplay. ORIGINAL GOLIATH
Kara: Let’s call it what it is. Kara has been under-edited throughout the game. It’s not her fault, but I do see the value she’s brought. I always appreciated her wariness of Dan’s obsession with her as well as her displeasure with Dan’s disgusting attitude. It’s also crazy to me (and Kara too) how many players have told her secrets they shouldn’t have. It’s a testament to Kara’s excellent social game. Everyone loves her. Everyone feels they can trust her. Her “anybody but me” no-nonsense attitude about the game has been refreshing, but unlike Angelina, she is getting away with playing a stealthy game. She’s perfectly positioned as not the biggest threat while also not being seen as a jury goat.
Kara’s Chances: If Kara is in the F3, I totally could see her taking it all, especially if it shapes up to be an all Goliath F3 like I think it will be. Despite her efforts, she hasn’t made ANY flashy moves, but you don’t HAVE to make flashy moves to win this game. You have to have a decent social game and make it to the F3. If Kara does both those things, she definitely deserves to win. ORIGINAL GOLIATH
Nick: We started this blog post with a David, and we’re going to end it with a David, because I know that’s how we all want this season to end. Our other hero is someone I wasn’t too sure about at first. He seemed a bit too eager to play the game but was still really charming. He’s also had the hardest time out there being on a sucky switch tribe and also constantly being down in numbers. If anyone is a true David, it’s Nick. Still, his overzealousness to play has put a target on his back recently.
Nick’s Chances: If Nick makes it to the end, he definitely will have the W unless he’s against Davie. Then, things would get a bit more complicated. The issue is that I’m not sure he can make it to the end. The pathway really comes down to his rockstar alliance with Mike, and if he can get Mike to keep him in the game long enough to win his way to the end. ORIGINAL DAVID
