Gretchen Rossi And Slade Smiley Are Pregnant!

December 17, 2018 by tamaratattles 47 Comments

Gretchen and Slade were on The Doctors today where they shared that they are pregnant! Gretchen says in her first round of IVF she lost FOURTEEN EMBRYOS. After that she just had to take a break and reassess the situation. How do they even have fourteen embryos? That’s a lot to store and worry over.

Ah, they were never implanted. Did they just leave them out of the freezer by accident or something? I don’t understand how you can “lose” fourteen embryos?!

Seven weeks ago, she was implanted and the embryo is viable. Isn’t Seven weeks a bit early to go on TV and announce a pregnancy? I understand they have been trying for four years and this is great and joyous news, but it’s a bit early to be celebrating so publicly. These two have shared their journey on The Doctors for years. You can see all of the history on the The Doctors Youtube channel.

They also filmed the moment they got the news. There were cameras at the doctor’s office and more cameras at their location. Who is filming every little moment in this couple’s life? Is reality TV so addictive that even when they leave the show they hire their own cameraman to follow them around? I suppose the cameras were part of The Doctors production team.

Gretchen says, ” I swear they lie to you about morning sickness. It’s all day sickness. It’s like the worst ever.”  Slade and Gretchen both say that hearing the baby’s heartbeat for the first time made it that much more real and exciting.

According to the Internet, Gretchen is forty and Slade is 45. Are you surprised that Gretchen is finally pregnant?

I’m not a fan of Slade as I think he is so thirsty for any kind of Housewives fame but they have been together for a long time and she’s always wanted children. She’s always hustling because I don’t think Slade has really had much of a job since he lost his insurance title business. I don’t think she will ever marry him though because the medical debt/child support issues for his son. Anyhoo, Good for them. I hope they have a happy, healthy baby.

I have to agree, obviously wasn’t for Housewives fame. I read TT and she has been absent for years. Just concerned about the 7 weeks… there is a reason for people waiting for 3 months/12 weeks. I won’t quote statistics because I don’t remember all of them from college biology but those first 3 months are crucial. Hope everything turns out great.

I was right! He is lying about his age. According to the OC register, when he was arrested on Civil Contempt charges for failure to pay child support he had a hearing in 2011, which places his age as 42!

If she was implanted 7 weeks ago she is technically 9 weeks pregnant. They count from your last period, which is on average two weeks before conception. So at conception you are actually 2 weeks pregnant. Sounds silly but before modern medicine the only thing you were really sure of was the date of your last period.

Nine weeks is still really early to go public, but better than seven! Wishing them the best.

Sperm has already entered the picture. The eggs are fertilized in the lab and then implanted.

The embryo was implanted SEVEN WEEKS AGO. Yet the new gestational math people are saying that is is really NINE WEEK. That means two week before the sperm was introduced via the embryo.

          PAY ATTENTION PLEASE!

In my defense, embryos usually grow for a few days before implantation. Also, in a natural pregnancy, it can take two weeks for the uterine lining to prepare for natural implantation of the embryo. During IVF, the uterine lining is pre-prepared via hormone treatment which give the embryo a head start.

Lol, I have zero interest in IVF/pregnancy. I just read a few well-sourced articles. And honestly, I only skimmed the articles. I guess I’m just looking for a fight. ?

            Perhaps this will help explain…

“In a traditional pregnancy, gestational age begins accumulating on the last day of your menstrual period. By the time conception occurs, the gestational age is already somewhere around two weeks.

Therefore gestational age in IVF, and by virtue in surrogacy, begins accumulating well before transfer. The nature of IVF allows for more specific date stamping. In these instances the exact date of ovulation, fertilization, and conception are known. This adds up to a clearer picture of gestational age.

In general, transferring a 3-day blast will leave you 2 weeks and 2 days pregnant as you leave the office. A 5-day blast is equivalent to a gestational age of 2 weeks and 5 days.”

I’m happy for them, children can be beautiful things and I know they both wanted this for a long time. It helps bring reality to a sometimes fabricated world (for reality). I also know having one at 32 and another at 38 were very different, I can only imagine adding two years to that and how much more exhausted I’d be!

With IVF, you have so much more monitoring and detailed information about fetal development than you do with unmediated pregnancies, you know you’re in what’s considered that safe zone a lit sooner than the arbitrary 3 month mark. Once you’ve had a few visits where the heart rate has developed as expected, you’re in the place where the statistical risks of early miscarriage start falling away. But most people dont have to go through that stressful process and so they’re using this other marker established long ago on success rates.

I can help. l did 7 IVF cycles total (got two baby boys out of it). Once eggs are retrieved they are fertilized in vitro (hence the name) and there they sit for 5-7 days in the hopes that they develop from fertilized eggs to blastocycts. Blastocysts have the best chance of being viable babies. So I’m guessing her 14 embryos never made it to blastocyct, which is what they need to implant or freeze.

I feel her pain! IVF is so invasive and such a roller coaster of joy and devastation. You should see the way I act when any doctors come near me now, over a decade later. I cant even help it, I just tense up and feel like a caged animal inside.

It’s not uncommon for a large attrition rate in fertilized eggs. Often the reason they never had successful pregnancies before is that either the woman’s eggs aren’t the greatest, or the man’s sperm isn’t. Nature weeds out much of the weakest fertilized eggs. On top of that, there seems to be a huge drop in viability right at the 40 year mark for women, so I hope her eggs were taken earlier. Now they even say the man’s age makes a difference. It’s a disappointing and tough way to have to conceive, so I hope them the very best holding on to this pregnancy.

*Slade celebrated his 50th this past October*

This is going to be real interesting.

Slade pays the mother of his son Grayson ZERO child support, contributes ZERO to his massive medical bills, and has many liens from the State of CA for the medical care. Literally the minute he has any cash from any source, the state will be laying claim to it. She is going to be the sole breadwinner for her, baby daddy, and baby.

This is going to be real interesting.

zero support?? Really? Nothing is garnished after such a long period of time? I have a hard time believing that.

I worked in an office of judges that often heard child support hearings administratively. I completely and totally believed him in that his child support debt was created and increased when suddenly the bottom fell out of his industry (real estate) and his kid had major medical bills. Saw enough guys who actually made sure their sick kids were fed but on paper were “deadbeat”. (or if they themselves were the sick party)

If I recall correctly from an interview with Jeff Lewis, they lost the embryos due to the facility where they were stored. Can’t remember if it was a malfunction at the facility or it was as a result of neglect.

So, do we call child services now or wait until it’s born? I think both of them will be rotten parents. How will she have time for a child with all the time her face and hair need to look 50 years old? Its like she uses a spatula to apply her foundation, or perhaps, a paint roller. That thing that is the biological father will absolutely hate sharing his time with an infant. I expect a break up, unless he can milk this for money.

From what I’ve heard, they ‘lost’ the previous embryos because of some error with the facility. I wonder if they made them pay for it all over again. Personally, I can never understand women who have babies with men they refuse to marry. If he’s not good enough to take half your money, he shouldn’t be good enough to be responsible for the most precious thing you’ll ever have.
