Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all are having a great day overeating and having uncomfortable conversations with your families at the dinner table! I actually spend my time house hopping between different families that have become close friends over the years. It’s always great being a guest rather than a host or family member of the host! Comment below which Thanksgiving food item you would take with to you to Survivor if you could!
Too Long Didn’t Watch
After the craziest tribal council we’ve seen in a long while, we get back to camp where people are trying to connect the dots to what happened. Davie is still feeling the adrenaline as he gives a confessional about how he defeated the mayor of slamtown! Alison is feeling the heat especially since she’s been promising the Davids that she was going to flip on Angelina/Dan, but she hasn’t done it yet. Alec blames Mike for holding him and Alison back from making their move against Goliath. Alec, Kara and Alison have a pow wow to figure out what to do next while Dan sulks alone. No one checks up on Angelina obviously since she’s a pariah.
The Brutal End Of A Showmance
Dan is feeling really bummed about his idol misplay. He doesn’t feel appreciated, because no one is stroking his broken ego. He is especially hurt by Kara. He’s having a complete emotional breakdown of Gabby-proportions. He chastises Kara for leaving him alone, and Kara tearily admits to us in a confessional that it’s time for her to separate from Dan if she wants to win the game. Maybe this is the episode where Kara finally realizes Alec is a better catch than Dan. The first sign of Dan having difficulty in the game, and he’s already fallen apart. Dan is so insecure.
The Reward Challenge
The Survivors are playing for a “burger bar.” Teams are randomly split in two with Carl being left out with no shot at reward. It reminds him of being on Exile Island again. While Christian and Mike are trying to solve the puzzle, Mike forgets to cover his number so Alison tries to copy. The entire orange team starts SCREAMING random numbers to confuse Alison and Christian. HA! It’s a super tight race, but orange ends up winning.
Dan Replaces Angelina As Public Enemy #1
Camp is still dramatic as Angelina is crying about having not won the veggie burgers. Gabby finally takes time to confront Alison about her having not followed through on her promise to flip on Goliath yet. Gabby is still banking on Alison to help her reposition herself in the game. Alison wrestles with whether she should stick with secure numbers or find the right time to blindside Dan in order to build her resume.
Meanwhile, Mike, Davie, Alex, Kara and Dan are at the burger bar. Mike tries to reaffirm the Goliath alliance while Davie is away. Alec obviously is not on board with this idea and in a shocker, Kara is also ready to blindside Dan!! She tells Alec and Alison that Dan has a SECOND IDOL that no one knew about! She hopes that telling them this piece of information will bond them tighter together. They plan on using this to blindside him. I’m not so sure if this is a good move or bad move by Kara. Dan was bound to be targeted with or without her help. Alec tells the audience what we already know: Dan is threatening on paper due to his strength in challenges and idol status, but he’s actually the least strategic Goliath there. i.e. he’s a big ol dummy according to Alec!
Playing Like Pros
Davie knows the game so well: he knows that after having just played an idol, another one will usually be rehidden. So he has the entire David tribe wake up at the crack of fucking dawn to find the next idol. The Davids are SERIOUS about playing this game! As morning approaches, everyone sort of quits searching, but Christian continues. He compares his searching to something in robotics by breaking down the island into different sectors. Our hero ends up finding the new immunity idol.
The Immunity Challenge
The challenge is a pretty simple but gnarly obstacle course involving balance, strength and dexterity. I’m obviously watching Alec’s butt as he goes across the balance beam. He’s literally leaping over the obstacles. What else would you be watching during the challenges? Dan and Alec are running away with this challenge. Christian is doing absolutely terrible at this challenge. Alec is slow and steady and ends up winning. Dan gives us a confessional about how happy he is that his friend, Alec won, then gives us yet another arrogant confessional about how Christian is a snake and will be going home.
Pre Tribal Council Scrambling
Kara is having some trouble emotionally on her decision to target Dan at tribal council but has decided to pitch a split vote between Angelina and Dan. I kind of feel bad that they’re the two pariahs of the tribe, but they’ve done it to themselves. Alison and Alec have changed their mind yet again and want to vote Christian out. Kara is pissed that they’ve changed their mind after she put her neck out there to the Davids.
Nick notices that the Goliath members are all sticking together on the beach, and he’s very pissed at the sight of segregation. He brings the Davids together and admits to both Christian and Gabby that they have secret advantages to use. Both Christian and Carl share their advantages as well. They’re all feeling upset that the Goliaths are still leading them on about the vote, so now they are strategizing how to best use their three advantages against the majority! This is magical to watch!!
There’s a sharp contrast between how the David alliance works versus the Goliath tribe. The former don’t care to align together and have all been willing to have cross tribal alliances despite them all getting along. The Goliaths on the other hand kind of sort of hate each other yet are sticking together in the most dysfunctional way possible which is why their alliance is failing. It’s quite ironic really. This tribal council should be good.
John walks in as a juror looking clean and sexy. Angelina longingly looks to him. Gabby revels in the fact that the Goliaths know what it feels like to not be in complete control after the last tribal council. Dan bluntly says he’d rather work with the devils he knows than the ones he doesn’t. And this is why he is in the most danger tonight. Mike makes up excuses why none of the Goliaths have pulled the trigger with betraying the others. Dan is especially hot during tribal with the Davids. Nick says the Davids have been led astray by untrustworthy people. No names are mentioned, but we can assume they’re talking about Alec, Alison and Kara. Carl chimes in on the same point. Alec tries to save face by saying he wants to work, but the Davids all tell him that words don’t mean much until the votes are read.
We get to the vote and Nick says he’s playing his secret advantage tonight. He announces that he’s stealing Alison’s vote. Nick now gets a second vote. Alec, Alison and Kara are giving each other weird looks and nods as if they are confirming a secret plan they had. Dan asks Kara if he plays the idol for himself or for Alison, and Kara whispers something inaudible. This conclusion could be a fucking mess… Dan gets his second idol out and plays it on himself… but Carl has secretly played his idol nullifier! Dan says: “OMG” and everyone “WOWS!” at the game changer move by Carl who is snickering. 3 votes Christian, 2 votes Angelina, 3 votes Dan… and the last two votes are for Dan!
In the most ironic way possible, I think only Angelina, Dan and Mike were blindsided while the other Goliaths threw Angelina under the bus. Jeff says the lines are now officially blurred, but I think this vote solidified Christian and Nick as the most influential players in the game. What are your thoughts? Are you happy Dan is gone? Do you think he will forgive Kara for her betrayal? Do you think the Davids will be able to stick together moving forward?
