I hope everyone had a great day! My days and nights are all still screwed up and I slept through the entire thing! I didn’t see the parade or make it to family dinner. The bad news is I missed my sister’s fantastic cooking. I’m particularly sad I missed the dressing and the hummingbird cake! I also missed seeing my out of town family who came to share in turkey dinner. But hey! Think of all the calories I saved!
I am maintaining my constant priority of insuring that the couch doesn’t float away by drinking cheap champagne out of a flute that literally costs fifteen times more than the entire bottle because I’m hood like that. I’m watching Christmas movies about princesses and ice skating and such and in my happy place for now.
I don’t think anyone could be more thankful this year than Kenya who finally has the family she has always wanted.
I am very thankful for all of you today. I know I am A LOT to put up with sometimes and I appreciate all of you who get me and even some of you who don’t.
Please use the comments to share happy or funny Thanksgiving experiences today. And let us know what you are thankful for. Let’s keep it light and cheery. I know you can do this!
TT, I ate enough for BOTH of us! I’m sorry you missed some of the goodies, but you obviously needed your sleep. There’s a little bakery in Ocala Florida that makes hummingbird cake bread pudding. At this moment, I’m thankful for your post, which reminded me of that bread pudding-I must go get some next time I’m in Ocala! Also, thankful for this forum to share musings among like-minded (or not, lol) reality TV junkies!! Enjoy your movies! Thanks for being there!
Hummingbird cake bread pudding sounds weird, but I’s love to try it! I haven’t been to Ocala in ages though. That was another lifetime. I can’t see being in the neighborhood again but you never know!
Let me know if you are ever down in these parts, and we’ll go check it out! : )
deal!
BC, what bakery are you referring to in Ocala? Bettys Cakes? I’m from Ocala but currently, live on the west coast. I’m going home in two weeks and would love to stop at the bakery you’re referring to for hummingbird cake bread pudding.
Happy Thanksgiving TT! I did more packing and made turkey with the trimmings for the zoolings. Ended the day playing a game called “Beat the parents” with my sister who has had 7 brain surgeries and our 13 year old-we haven’t laughed so hard in a long time!! She has no filter left and the 13 year old loves it 😂 I’m glad you had a good day, hopefully your sister can send some leftovers!!
I can’t comprehend MOVING after a wedding! I keep thinking about moving and then remember how much I HATE MOVING!
It’s HELL. But thankfully we will have a beautifully decorated bathroom when it’s all said and done! =) December 1st we will be all moved in thank GOD.
My sister was passing around cookies to the adults and her 5 year old apparently didn’t want to feel left out so she disappeared for a minute and returned with a box of panty liners and started handing them out until my sister heard the laughter and turned around and saw what was happening. We were DYING laughing but Grandma was not amused.
HA!
Us Canadians celebrate thanksgiving in October and we fondly describe your festivities as yanksgiving! 😉 hope is was swell!! I
Canadian Thanksgiving in October is just so WRONG. lol. Does Christmas season start early too?
Well, we have one major holiday after thanksgiving – hallowe’en! Then, yup, November 1st it’s jingle all the way!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Xoxoxo
xoxo
How cute and teeny tiny is Kenya’s Brooklyn?
Currently belly up taking a break drinking the rest of (working on…) the sparkling Rose. Jammies on, out of town family all talked with/to, just waiting on a desire for dessert. I don’t have a huge sweet tooth but I do love pastries and fruit so pie is definitely in my future tonight. Starting on my Hallmark binge, I don’t work tomorrow…yay!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I totally expected Kenya to have a ten pound baby considering how much weight she gained. This tiny little girl is everything.
Happy Thanksgiving, TT!
Tonight I went out to eat at a Thanksgiving buffet with my Mom. Neither of us felt like cooking and I left stuffed, which is rare as a vegetarian on Thanksgiving who can’t eat romaine lettuce lol. Now I’m watching the Wizard of Oz on TBS.
That romaine thing is SCARY!
Happy Thanksgiving Tamara. Your site is my favorite. I have been reading it for years!! Thank you for all your hard work and thank you so much for making me laugh through some rough times in my life. xx
Thanks so much for getting the vibe here, laila! You rock.
I know! My Mom threw away some that I had left in my fridge from Whole Paycheck even though I already ate some, and yelled “Don’t you watch the news it doesn’t matter if you already ate some of it and didn’t get sick!” Lol. I hope you had something good to go with your champagne.
Tamara, thank you for having this site and for being a great writer. It gives me joy, laughs and insight to read your posts, and commenters’ comments. I really appreciate that this site exists.
I had a dream last night that I was furiously scrolling through posts on this site to find out whether Julie Chen would be hosting Celebrity Big Brother Season 2. Weird but funny. OK – weird. I own it.
I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family and ate way too much. Lying on the couch at home now, watching Homecoming, the Julia Roberts mystery show on Amazon Video.
So will Julie Chen still host Celebrity Big Brother? I think YES! We love her,
The CBS team must have been listening to you, Tamara! Can’t wait for this season and finding out who they cast this year. Something to look forward to during the cold dark winter!
Thanksgiving rules. Cooked up a storm & now off to Google the recipe for hummingbird cake.
.
make sure it is from Southern Living or Paula Deen and not some fucking yankee you yankee! And you can bake?
I can cook clean iron bake paint sculpt etc .This Italian Catholic school boy was raised properly.! I have never had hummingbird cake & will make got Christmas in Boston. Hope all is well. xo Marc p.s. going back to teaching special education ( hopefully doen the street at Permins School for the Blind ) please throw some June 23rd good mojo positive vibes my way.#2019 year of restoration .
Good luck with your new teaching job. As a mom of a special needs child I thank you so much. We need more caring teachers in this field. Happy Holidays!
Thanks Bungalow. I have always felt working with special needs was my calling. I started in the 6th grade. Those souls bring me so much JOY. Working with special needs kids is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Enjoy your holidays ! Peace Joy & Abundance for 2019 !
And thank you Marc for your intelligent and funny comments. I am sober and spilling over with thanks. Just think if I were KellyDod drunk!
Marc is a special favorite. Don’t tell him I said that he is conceited enough.
love you xo Marc going to art supply store for materials then the movies. Wish you were here Its freezing in Boston!
Thanks Nanette I discovered this blog years ago & it helped me tremendously when my mother passed away. Sorry no more dead relative talk. Thanks for your kind words. I love my T.T. virtual on line hologram family. Be well ! p.s if you got Kelly Dodd drunk remember do not speak of Tamra Dodds daughter !
If I ever drank again and got that drunk, I am afraid I might end up naked in bed with Shane! (He would have been asleep while I came crawling in from under the covers at the foot of the bed.)
We went to the mountains and out to eat for Thanksgiving. We have our grandson all weekend so that’s always great. It was a beautiful day today so we played outside after lunch. Nice pleasant day all in all.
Thanks for keeping your site up and running even when you don’t feel like it.
I ALMOST went to stalk Nancy In the Smokies but she lives in a tourist town and I had forgotten about all the crowds and clogged mountain roads to get there. Perhaps another day. Your day sounds fun.
GET YOUR ASS UP HERE!! Email me-. I am thankful to have a place that I can say exactly what I want to people who GET IT!! Had a great Thanksgiving morning with kids and grandkids then heigh ho it’s off to work I go (went)!! I have a great co-worker that somehow makes checking in people fun-we really enjoy it. Most guests are very nice and we have a lot of yukking it up going on. Life is a feast and most poor fuckers are starving!!
I love the smokies….I am 4 hours away in Kentucky.
We celebrated the 3 F’s today…Food, Family, and Football! The Bears won!! Went for a bike ride, it was a beautiful day here in Colorado, took a nap, ate some cheesecake, and took a bubblebath. Now I’m drinking Bud Lite and watching ID network, I did the Christmas movie earlier today, now it’s time for some true crime shows! LOL!!
We are truly Blessed. Today was a good day
Happy Thanksforgiving….
Cheers TT and fellow TT homies
Cheers! I am officially not drinking Coors Light our of very expensive flutes. Please don’t tell my GBF or he will send someone to repossess them. lol.
The kids and grandkids couldn’t make it for thanksgiving this year so we decided to splurge on a high end Thanksgiving buffet at a fancy boat club. Problem was that we started drinking pomegranate mimosas too early and never made it out of the house. Ended up grilling a steak on the stove, and eating ice cream for dessert. More cocktails afterwards, and we are in a happy place. Thankful for a roof over our heads, food in the fridge, booze in the cupboard, the privilege of living in a beautiful State, and no major health issues to deal with. So many others out there who are struggling with basic living needs. I have no real problems.
I love this story, Cheers!
The majority of my dinner was brought to us from Costco. I normally like to cook it up, but I was CONSUMED by the Monica Lewinsky affair..Clinton affair. Could not stop. What was it ..2 or 3 nights? Best reality tv.
And how can you beat the Costco pumpkin pie. 6 bucks and it feeds the Bears team.
Happy shopping to all.
I am so thankful for you guys. I am really enjoying just getting to talk to you all tonight and not worry about all the stressful business stuff related to the site. For the first few years I didn’t even have ads and everyone kept screaming about me to get them up,
The trolls were here from day one though telling me I should not be commenting on my own posts all the time. Is that some sort of rule I don’t know about? But then the site got busy and I could not do it as much and only seemed to comment when someone needed their ass chewed.
I’m having so much fun tonight just having fun with you guys. Thanks so much for sticking with me.
I LOVE when you comment on your posts. They always add something special. Please don’t stop.
We ❤️ U
I love when you chat with us! And when you chew people out…as long as it’s not me! 😂😭
Don’t ever stop commenting on the posts! That’s part of the appeal of this site!
We had a shitton of things to be thankful for this year. We had a great Thanksgiving feast. The only thing I made from scratch was Ina Garten’s brussel sprouts. LOTS to be thankful for. Thankful my three Paradise friends escaped the Camp Fire. Two lost EVERYTHING, except one car and the dog. But they are SAFE. Last year, we were thankful we found TEMPORARY, unfortunately expensive, shelter with (now former) friends so we were not on the street after landlords sold our rental. THIS YEAR, we are thankful, WAY, WAY THANKFUL to be out of where we were last year — The PooPoo PeePee Palace — aka the Triple P. Cat, dog, HUMAN poop and pee. Pots full of bloody puke. Dirty poopoo pads. Mold in the refrigerator. Garbage in the kitchen. Roof rats in the ceiling. Their dead PET cat indoors next to the basement stairs for MONTHS. Exaggerating? I have photographic evidence. If I were a good writer, I could create a show that would make “Shameless” look like Doris Day and Mister Rogers living in a hospital clean room in Mayberry RFD. It would be a hard-sell as nonfiction, not QUITE as unbelievable as Dog Day Afternoon, but up there… Thankful for my landlady pal who paid for our move and got us into her duplex with a backyard for the dogs, windows for the birds, and a garden space for me. FUCKING THANK YOU TO HIGH HEAVEN. Amen.
P.S. Thank you for Sunken Treasure gelato (with bourbon truffles) and Knudsen sparkling Glogg, the closet I can come to drinking nowadays. Please pop a cork for me, TT.
I might should point out I have not eaten all day.
So we are in “I have a special flashlight” stories. Apologies.
The last time the end of the world was most definately coming for the millionth time I realized that my Zombie apocalypse closest didn’t have enough lighting stuff. So I bought an expensive flashlight and a couple of lanterns.
I am super thankful for my flashlght. I can see all the way to the end of my property with it at night, I encourage you all to get a great flashlight or three . The zombies could come at any time and at least you could see them.
Also, I am SUPER THANKFUL for Lady C who writes tons of recaps that are way better than anything I have ever written but most importantly she is my lady sitter.
She takes my drunken phone calls when things get bad. She does all of my photos, she is just everything. She keeps this place going. And if I keel over and die, she is the only one with posting privileges at the moment. When I get overwhelmed, she steps in. And when I need to babble drunkend nonsense she listens And I love her very much.
I am also super thankful for Pop Culuture Kelly and Cho for their fabulous recaps. Kelly has never said she could not do it even when SHE WAS GETTING MARRIED or MOVING and Cho brings a new spice to the site with his home renovation stories and Survivor recaps. I am lucky to have these two and they both work so hard with very little appreciation.
Y’all should check them out These three make my life better,
Super glad to hear of all the support!!
Also I am smoking super high end stuff from a $3 hitter. I’m so happy right now!!
Ha. I thought you meant the Great Smoky Mountains. Now I get it. A different kind of Smokies. I jest.
No!! Both!! I smoke AND live in the Smokies!!
Twice the fun. And you’ve got cover from the haze.
Oh Maxie!! You funny!!
Cho & Lady C are very good at what they do ! I am still beaming from you asking me to contribute to American Crime Story Assassination of Giani Versace. If you ever want film reviews or documentary reviews I am all yours.
Aww! How sweet! I fell asleep and missed the end of the movie, rewind is my friend.
You do have a lovely, lovely lady sitter and an excellent support team. Your site is all the better for your support of them as much as they support you. Your blessings are now ours too.
They are excellent writers. You chose well.
Now… just think if Shannon had a ladysitter with the compassion of Lady C. instead of POS Tamra. She may have been completely recovered by now. Or maybe not…
What kind of high end stuff?
Smoke you fool.
Happy Thanksgiving U.S.A!
Tamara your site your rules have brought you to this point of your success. You deserve the success that you put your heart and soul into.
I am thankful for your site Tamara – your honesty – even when it kicks my butt – deservedly so – rocks the universe.
You deserve all the success coming your way and what your future success holds for you.
Thanks Sam. No one knows what a tremendous friend you are to me and how much you do to support this site, I’m VERY thankful for you! xo ~tt
I am completely dedicated to you! well – you and my significant other!
Thanks Sam. I am in great company then your significant other is amazing.
Happy late Thanksgiving everyone! Just got home from work. I’m grateful I have a job and I’m thankful for my pup Lola who was so excited when I got home it felt like Christmas to have someone love me like that.
Tamara I’m so in love with this site and all of your shenanigans. And for all the posters here. I read every single article everyday and every single comment!
Happy Holiday’s y’all 🙂
Thanks so much Kelnlola!
I cannot imagine you not commenting on your posts! I just have missed that era and thankful for that!
That was the best part of the day, just being able to be lazy and comment. I normally don’t have much time for that. I WANT TO COMMENT TOO DAMMIT! lol.
Thanks for the reminder to try Hummingbird Cake. It’s been on my list for years ever since I first saw the recipe in a Southern Living Cakes cookbook. I love hearing about different things people eat so I have ideas for new things to try to make. I think I’ll make one for Christmas. Put out the word on that Sunken Treasure gelato to someone I know who is supposed to try it for me as I’ve never seen that brand. Sounds delicious.
Took some things I baked to the shelter near here where they put out a call at Thanksgiving and Christmas for home baked desserts to serve with their meal.
I know that commenter sparked some discussion about your mode of posting and involvement in the comment section, TT. My take: I like your blog POV which I find to be full of wit and sarcasm. Good gosh, it’s reality TV and some of these women are ridiculous by choice and certainly paid to generate reactions.
My perspective is that it’s not cool to mock the way someone is born, but when their reality TV behavior is best described in terms of their insane plastic surgeries and crazy dress, that’s fair game because it’s all around a choice. That’s not equivalent to ad hominem attacks during a serious and worthwhile factual debate. Your curation of the comment section is appreciated because it prevents what some others become which is an endless repetition of a few posters and their limited views. I like the intelligent perspective that develops from a full trade of well-expressed views.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Are you retarded or from a foreign land? Because I can see where you are posting from and if you have never had hummingbird cake I feel like you might be being held hostage or something,.
BLINK THREE TIMES IF WE NEED TO RESCUE YOU, MILANIA!
Well I may be, ha, but my excuse is that my mother was from a foreign land and did not make these classics, so I’m still working my way through them. It’s kind of criminal that that particular cake was not at the top of the list, though, because it looks phenomenal. But, hey, I’ll blink 3 times if the rescue is really cool, like somewhere I’ve never been, and you can call me Milania too boot. I’m along for the ride.
Thanksgiving was great this year! Cooked all Day Wednesday and Thursday morning. Lunch with my family at my house was followed by shooting BB guns off my porch at targets! Looked like a bunch of rednecks!
Dinner time was creeping up on us and it was freezing so we built a big fire out of hickory in the fire pit. Decided to roast hotdogs that we ate in the left over dinner rolls from lunch since we were all still too full for a full blown meal. Boys stayed out by the fire drinking applejack and the girls watched Murder on the Orient Express. Probably the best holiday for us in awhile.
Thank you for this site TT and to all your fabulous followers. Truly enjoy what you all do here.
Happy Holidays, TT!
Thanks for all the hard work you do.
Do you enjoy putting up decorations for Christmas?
I love my motion lights. I always put then on “Twinkle” mode.
Never thought I would like a White Tree, but bought a small one last year and put
extra white, blue, and multi colored lights to remain on, then a strand of twinkle lights.
The white reflects the light so beautifully and the bulbs just sparkle. LOVE!
Oh, and I have a fiber optic angel topper. So pretty.
That sounds beautiful. I’m like a five-year-old child when it comes to anything iridescent or fiber optic – I can’t get enough of it. I was on one of my high-end shopping sprees last year (at a 99 Cent Store, or something equally wonderful) when I came across a bunch of tiny Christmas lanterns with fiber optic lights inside. I bought a bunch and plan to put them in my wide front window when I decorate this year.
I had a wonderful Thanksgiving at my son’s house . I had my first brined turkey and it was delicious – it was the first turkey my daughter-in-law had ever cooked and was the best I’ve ever tasted. Good food and great family! What could be better!
Hope everyone had an equally good Thanksgiving. My best wishes to all my fellow commenters here, and many thanks to you, Tamara, for all the time you put into keeping us informed and entertained.
Late to the party, but we had a super-great Thanksgiving with minimal drama. My sister and I toasted the fact that all the real trouble-making family members are finally all dead!
I’m thankful for you every day, TT! You and all your wonderful contributors, and of course all the commenters! It’s a joy and a refuge to have so much intelligent wit in one place! Wishing you and Banjo the best holiday season ever!
LOFL. Sometimes death IS a good thing.
Hoping everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving. I hosted 26 people (friends and family). It was the first time we’ve had a nice dinner with zero drama. We ate, drank wine, and played games. My house was filled with love and laughter, just the way I like it!
I’m thankful for my husband, who is truly the love of my life… my children, who are the most awesome human beings I’ve ever known (and they’re teenagers!)…. my personal faith because it has brought me through the darkest times… my extended family whether it’s blood or not… and my job because it has a huge amount of flexibility and benefits with pretty good pay as well.
Now, I’m going to watch cheesy hallmark movies and sip coffee while lounging on the couch with my warm fuzzy blanket. 🙂
I’m late to the party! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I also love it when TT comments. I had a great day. When my daughter’s showed up, I was relieved of all my duties. I was able to go upstairs and smoke some high end bud in my $2 hitter and freshen up! My girls cleaned everything up! And I was able to see Jon Hamm this week. I have so much to be thankful for. That includes this site, TT and all my commenting buddies.
Over.
We had a good night, despite it being freezing up here! I made Key Lime pie, in honor of the trip we just took to the Florida Keys. My nephew brought these cream filled cronuts, they had cinnamon sugar on top and were filled with I think cannoli cream. A-mazing. My great-nephew is potty training so every hour or two we stopped what we were doing and cheered for Jack’s ability to pee in the potty, as he toddled triumphantly down the hall.
We are thankful for YOU Tamara, you are the only blog I read, seriously, and I hope the rest of your weekend goes well. Hugs
Happy Thanksgiving, Tamara. I always have fun reading your site.
We (my mother and me) had Cornish Hens. We had a turkey last year and both of us realized we just didn’t love it. So we decided to go with the hens. They were delicious.
Happy belated Thanksgiving, TT!!! Don’t feel like a lone wolf – I, too, hibernated all day Thanksgiving and didn’t do a damned thing all day. I was mainly just avoiding having to interact with my “roomie” AKA soon to be ex who is SUPPOSED to move out at the end of the month when the lease expires, but so far hasn’t even looked for a place because he thinks I’m bluffing – I am not bluffing. Hummingbird cake brings back SO many memories!!! The stbx had never even heard of it before, but then again, he’s a Michigander and my Mom and her whole family was from Texas – it is one of my all-time favorite recipes ever, although I’m not a fan of shredded coconut, that my Mom really liked, so I omit that ingredient of Mom’s recipe when I make her recipe. I lost my Mom after a 5-year battle with Lewy bodies dementia in September of 2017, but the very best inheritance I received after her death was her recipe box – all of her handwritten recipes for all the wonderfully delicious comfort foods she used to make us when I was growing up, including her hummingbird cake recipe! #Priceless My Mom was an awesome cook!
The ex still hanging out at the house makes things so uncomfortable, especially once you make your mind up that it is done. I hope he can make this a smooth transition, for both of you, very soon.
My mom had Alzheimer’s. It sucked. I miss her dearly & daily.
You are lucky to have those recipes.
I had my gramma’s.
I still make her special holiday treats and it brings back so many good memories.
This is the first time in 32 years that I have not cooked a turkey. We did brisket instead and it was great.
Our oldest was having lunch with his girlfriend’s family and middle son was having lunch with his inlaws and then everyone at our house for dinner. With brisket, they would not have two turkey meals in one day.
Hummingbird cakes are delishous…and weigh about twenty pounds!
I see that Buffalo Trace in that picture…a fellow bourbon girl…I knew there was a reason why I liked this blog so much!
Hey lady,
Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you. Thanks for being a haven in the chaos. I’ve been here longer than I could ever imagine. My first and only reality show blog site. Smart commenters and a blogger with a brain and a heart. Why go anywhere else?
Best to you all.
Exactly, Katherine, why go anywhere else, TT has it all. I love this blog with all the intelligent commenters.
Thanksgiving was wonderful..my daughters new boyfriend came…brought me flowers and made food to share.
My daughters two friends from Ireland were here to experience their first Thanksgiving. Just fun times ..no drama.
Thank you TT for all you do.
Here I come. Busting thru the door or all late! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I didn’t have any celebration this year, I stayed home and snuggled with my cat. I drank a whole bottle of Sangria and got super duper high when I also popped a pain killer. Note to self, don’t do that again ….at least not until Christmas LMAO
I’m thankful for my friends who called and checked on me, my cousin who talked to me even though I was plastered, my cat who is the reason I don’t harm myself and I’m especially thankful for this site TT. I’m honored to be apart of this amazing group of people.. I love that you take the time to interact with us, your opinion is always valued and welcomed. You ROCK Tamara!!!👍👍👍
Have a very blessed 🌙 night! 😘😘😘
My 4 yr old announced to the dinner table full of my in-laws “my mommy wears diapers just like my baby brother but her diapers are big… HUGE Diapers!!” Granted I just had a baby but still… from the mouths of babes… sigh
I KNEW there was a reason I forgot to have children. You can pay him back in a few years when you show his nudie baby photos to his girlfriends.
The Thanksgiving weekend goes on… another thing to be thankful for … TT for the gifts that keep on giving…
Do a search for Blind Item Reveal (thanks to those little tags that TT say are a PIA but DO serve a rewarding purpose). It’s quite interesting to go back and read the Blind Items and the Reveals from near and far back. Some, kind of sad, Bethany and Dennis, Phaedra PHAKING being a friend to Kandi, etc. There are some juicy things from before I found TT. And there are some commenters I wish were still here. Only saw a few of my fave commenters going back. ENJOY!
I love you for using the links! there is also an archives thingy on the side for anything you missed.
